If you are looking for a Mongolian BBQ restaurant in the Spanaway/Graham/Frederickson area, this one fits the bill. These restaurants are hard to find and they serve a niche customer base/market. I have loved Mongolian BBQ restaurants since my first experience with one in Japan. This one is not equivalent to that experience nor should it be compared in that way. The buffet is reasonably priced ($20 for dinner) and they have a good selection of veggies, noodles, and meat to choose from. The shave meat choices are lamb, chicken, pork, and beef. There is also an ample amount of sauces to choose from. Additionally, soup, pot stickers, and egg rolls come with the meal. The service was very good. This is located in a strip mall, so you need to expect that kind of an ambiance. All in all, I'd probably order off the menu the next time I'm here. The Mongolian buffet is a bit hard to pull off unless you really know what you are doing with the sauces and the ingredients. I prefer a lot of sauces and juices in mine, and I just did not get it right this time. I also prefer my meat courses to be cooked slightly less than well done. We were out antiquing and stopped at this out of the way Goodwill, unfortunately, it was a bust, it was small and didn't have many home or collectable items. We decided to eat before heading home and found this place in the same retail lot. Some reviews glowed, others painted another picture, but it appears it was worth a try, especially considering the fact I never saw myself coming back to the area. I'm no stranger to Mongolian grills. We ate at Chang's for about 25 years before they closed. We also used to frequent Genghis Khans, and Jasmine as well until prices went up and quality went down. The people here were polite and kind, but I did have an issue with them and the place. The place was clean and quiet. Nothing fancy by any means, but it was apparent money was not being funneled back into the business. They had a menu, but we decided to try the buffet. Per a review I read, someone stated that you needed to request items from the back if you got the buffet, i.e rice, soup, etc. They actually asked what kind of soup we wanted, said they would bring a potsticker and egg roll, but didn't offer rice. When I asked for rice, I was asked if I wanted white or fried. I said white and it never came. I don't know about you, but Chinese food without rice is like a burger without fries. My issue with the place is when I looked at the buffet station, three things quickly caught my attention. Most containers were nearly empty, the ladles for the sauces were too small and the items were cut too large. Every grill I've been to, the meat is cut paper thin. This prevents customers from over filling their bowl, it allows the sauces and oils to penetrate the meat and allows the food to cook faster and evenly. The ladles were about a teaspoon at best. Most grill ladles are at least two tablespoons. So instead of getting one scoop of garlic water, I needed at least 4. The meat was tough, both the chicken and beef. I think it could have been to the Jerky style thickness. Flavor was also below average. I think most grills water down sauces feeling like it cuts costs and also allows those who get a second helping to better season their bowls. Potsticker was good, but it was deep fried, not pan fried. It was also food service. The wonton soup was not good. It tasted like a ramen packet. The eggroll was fine, but probably food service as well. I consider these places to be a treat and now that they are few and far between, I depend on them to be stellar. This place didn't cut it. It tasted like teriyaki take out. We didn't leave hungry, but we also didn't eat as much as we might have had the food been better. Again, I can't speak on the kitchen or the menu, but if you are coming here for the grill, I'd say pass, it's not worth the drive, energy, or effort. read more

We moved into the area 6 years ago and have never checked out this place. My first discovery when we moved here was, there's not a single Chinese restaurant around! It's in a side strip mall by Safeway, over by Ace Hardware. They've been here for years but got a new owner 2 years ago. WONDERFUL "buffet" where you pick out your raw meat then vegetables and sauces, then give to the grill person for cooking. All you can eat, multiple trips. No take home boxes. But, they have a take out menu, and you can order regular Chinese foods off a paper menu. We WILL return. Dinner price is $20, comes with soup, pot stickers or egg rolls (we asked for both), and rice (ask for it as it's in the back and they might forget to ask if you want it). Okay. I used to love this place...for their all you can eat grill. This time we all decided to try something different and boy we were disappointed! This time we ordered off the menu. We had two different dishes between three of us. We had (2) Almond Chickens and (1) Orange Flavor Chicken. Bleh! The Almond Chicken "gravy" was PINK and had ZERO chopped, crushed or even crumbs of almond on it. It was pasty at best. The chicken wasn't too bad...but the gravy-ish stuff on it was just nasty! The Orange Flavor Chicken (yes...that's the name) was basically store-bought popcorn chicken with their orange sauce over it. It was definitely the best of the two, but wasn't really orangey. It did have a nice thick slice of orange on it...and definitely the best part of the entire meal. It was a wasted bit of money and made the Almond Chicken eaters slightly sick that very night. Ugh! It's hidden back in the plaza by the Ace hardware. It was nice to have Asian food that wasn't just another teriyaki restaurant. The grill is our favorite part. You get to choose what you want and how much of it. From all the fresh vegetables, different types of meats, and sauces or make up your own. I've been coming here for years and always had great food from the buffet. We've never ordered from the menu. Our last visit though ruined everything when a dozen ANTS from under our booth attacked my wife's feet biting/stinging her. Looked like there was food (shrimp maybe?) on the floor under the the table that had been there long enough to attract ants. This incident really ruined it for us. We, of course, moved our plates a couple booths down. I had to take my wife's shoes and socks outside to get the ants off. The lady working there would not take fault for this and instead shifted blame to construction workers that come in that must have had ants on their boots/shoes. My husband and I tried this place today. Never again! There were two tables, and us. We ordered the general toes chicken and almond chicken. The General was burnt tasting and the almond chicken was dry. In addition, we have never been given the general toes without rice. She asked my husband if he wanted rice after she served the chicken. 14 pieces of chicken for 13.95. Came in around 7:00 on a Saturday night. There were 4 tables of 2 and one other table of 4 plus the 4 of us. It took about 30 mins to order drinks and get our food to the grill because we waited for a lot of food items they ran out of including noodles. They seemed understaffed for the minor customers they had dining in. One person on the grill one person in the back and the one cashier/host/server/phone answerer/food replenisher. Giving 2 stars because lack of food available, wait time, was given wonton soup instead of wontons which is an extra cost and wasn't very tasty, also the host gave my child the straws and told her to put them on the table. read more

Staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean but the flavor of the food on the main menu has alot to be desired. I have tried this restaurant several times over the last 6 years and I have never left satisfied. The food I ordered lacked flavor, the soups had hardly anything in them. Pork fried rice is one of my favorite things when I eat chinese food, and theres is almost white... I guess not all chinese people are good cooks. Its too bad, because the woman who waits on you is very, very nice and you can see she sincerely wants you to be happy. From the outside, this place doesn't look like much. But from the inside, you are in a world full of goodness! You have the option of eating from the grill, or ordering from the mainly Chinese menu. We usually go for the grill, now while this spot does not have as many different items, compared to lets say, a Jasmine Grill, it still has a decent amount.
