Amazing KBBQ! We came once when they had just opened and the food was great, the customer service was also spectacular so we came back today after a long day at work. They surprised us with Gyoza and even remembered us from when we were first there! They really go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. The appetizers are also super yummy, I really recommend the cheesy tteokbokki! We will definitely come back again.. and again and again!

Brought family to try Korean BBQ for the first time and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff was so nice and attentive. The side dishes kept coming. All the different cuts of meat were so delicious. The All You Can Eat option is definitely worth it. I felt like I was back in Korea! Will come back for sure!

Great service! Great food. If you are looking for Korean bbq, then this is the place you should go. Plenty of banchan with the meal.

Horrible service, not sincere to customers. Rushed us, said food was out, and charged us 22% gratuity. Go across the street, much better.

If you had grown up in this part of Pierce County, you are familiar with the enormous changes. However, this is one restaurant that has stayed with the times. Locals know, this is the place to start with, an original - Ho Soon Yi. Where the place can easily be swallowed up by the hustle and bustle of businesses on a very busy city street, this casual sit-down Korean restaurant has the everyday favorites you are familiar with. Where many Korean American establishments focus on the BBQ aspect, Ho Soon Yi focuses and masters other parts Korean cuisine. Specifically the soups!! And they are tasty!! Definitely the tofu soups are there, but there are appetizers, fried rice, and the traditional small side dishes are also served. My friend and I ordered the savory seafood pancake as the appetizer. As for soups, I ordered the Pork Tofu Soup and it was great! Definitely satisfying, and I didn't miss the BBQ one bit. Yes, the do have kalbi and bulgogi (beef, pork and seafood) but that is for another time. There are definitely plenty dishes to try. And all are tasty. You won't be disappointed. Come see an original before seeing the others. See Ho Soon Yi... soon!

There were only a few tables inside but almost half of them were already occupied with several customers. I was quickly seated for a table of 1. The tables are fairly close together and the noise level is low enough to hear conversations around me. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I did hear other customers comment at their tables that the food here is good. There's a few ajummas working here, so service was straightforward. I ordered the kalbi dolsot bibimbap, which seemed inexpensive and came with some complementary sides, and they were nice enough to cut my kalbi into bite-sized pieces for me. I would say, if I can finish my food in one sitting at a restaurant, I am either really hungry, satisfied, or both. In this case, it was both! This is my first dolsot bibimbap after moving to Washington recently, and I am glad it did not disappoint.

My favorite is the Kim Chee and bean sprouts. A fried fish also comes with the tofu soup. The service is prompt and quick. The restaurant has lots of parking which is a plus. Prices were high, that's fine considering how things are right now. But where I draw the line is forcing me to change my tip amount in front of my family because I believed that tips should be used as a reward system for above and beyond service. I tipped a good 10%. But because of my family size and which wasn't stated anywhere on the menu or the facility, I was embarrassed in front of my family and asked to raise it to a minimum of 15%. A shame that this wasn't just reflected in the already high menu prices. Pay your employees instead of having them resort to such atrocious aggressive tactics and begging. I previously refused to come back. But was only here due to a Mother's day request. I will now aggressively push back to anyone that even recommends this restaurant.

The teriyaki chicken is warmed up, so the two come out different temperatures and one seems lukewarm and the other piping hot. I buried several pieces of my chicken so the rice would warm it up. The Korean food is listed in Korean...so unless you ask questions, you may not know what you're ordering. In the past I have tried the Bulgogi, which is good and comes with banchan--but a little pricey. This time around we chose Mongolian Beef and Teriyaki Chicken with Gyoza. The Mongolian Beef was not good. I didn't care for the sauce, the meat was chewy, and the styrofoam noodles were rancid--and there were a lot of them! The actual portion size was pretty small. The salad on the plate with the Teriyaki and Gyoza was big chunk of lettuce with a giant glob of dressing--pretty unappealing. Service was mediocre. There were flies buzzing around as we ate. I think we are the only Americans in here right now. Pretty busy for dinner. Not really sure that we would return, better places in the area. Overall 2.5 rating.
