Mandatory 15% tip for ZERO service? And they can't refill some radish? I really wanted to like this place because the concept of Mongolian pies is unique in Rowland Heights. The food itself is decent--the pies are juicy and the lamb soup is hearty on a cold day. However, the dining experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I can't ignore it. Here's the thing: 1. The "Service" Fee (aka The Silent Robbery): They automatically add a 15% tip to the bill. Normally, I'm okay with this for good service, but here, the service was practically non-existent. We had to flag someone down just to get a water refill. It feels less like a tip and more like a mandatory surcharge that goes straight to the owner while the staff couldn't care less. 2. The "No Refill" Rule: We ordered the Lamb Radish Soup. The broth was good, but when we politely asked if we could have a tiny bit more of the radish (not even the meat, just the veggie) from the kitchen, we got a straight-up "No." For a place charging premium prices and forcing a tip, being told you can't have a few cents worth of radish is just insulting. In short: The food is 3 stars, but the principle of the thing (bad service + forced tip + stingy refill policy) drops it to a 1. If you want to try the pie, do yourself a favor and order takeout to avoid the mandatory service charge that doesn't reflect any actual service.

On June 15, 2026, at around 4:30 PM, I visited the Rowland Heights location of Mongolian Home Made Pie with friends. While eating the lamb chops, we discovered a fly that appeared to have been cooked and soaked in the dish for quite some time. I had always enjoyed this restaurant and was happy to introduce it to my friends, who also thought the food tasted great. However, I was extremely disappointed by this serious sanitation issue. I sincerely hope Mongolian Home Made Pie takes food safety and cleanliness more seriously. Please do not let down the customers who support and recommend your restaurant. Very disappointing experience.

Rating: 7/10 Tried the Mongolian meat pancake spot. Service was very friendly, and the waitresses were great. Inside has a lot of seats and tables. The free lamb soup and the sauce bar were highlights and added a lot to the meal. We ordered the boiled lamb, grilled lamb, meat pancake, and shredded potatoes. Boiled Lamb - Probably the most disappointing dish. There was a lot of fat and the meat quality itself wasn't great. Flavor was pretty plain as well. Grilled Lamb - A bit better than the boiled lamb since the grilling added more flavor, but it seemed like the same cut of lamb, which was mid. Shredded Potatoes - Solid dish. Nicely seasoned with good texture and one of the better items we ordered. Meat Pancake - Good flavor overall, but the bread ended up a bit soggy, which took away from what could have been a strong dish.

Revisited for my birthday & everything was great still. Food came out extremely quickly, language barrier wasn't an issue at all, I just pointed at the menu photos. Gratuity has an automatic 15% added but they allow you to adjust it if it feels needed. Overall a great experience & we'll be back. :)

This will be my first and last time to this place. I believe I have been here once before but it may have been under another management. First of all the workers seem to all wear the same latex disposable blue gloves to handle everything, from bringing food out , to cleaning. The two staff seemed to be nice but it took a while for us to get service. Seems like they were vacuuming or busy refilling other things. The cold plate they had was decent, and they had a sauce bar where you can get soup if you dine in. We ordered a soup that seems to only be enough for 4 people. The biggest disappointment was the shumai. They actually look huge and good but you can tell they were frozen. I should have known as I took my first bite, there was raw pork inside. They took back the steamer and tried to heat it up again. I thought they would have just made a new batch. After steaming it again, I took another bite and again the pork was still raw in the middle. You cannot consume raw pork. They eventually changed the dish but only after trying to explain that it wasn't raw and that it was just that color. I know what raw pork looks like, and when I took the two bites, they are not supposed to be soft and cold. I didn't want to start my first review of the year like this, but I had a stomach ache and did not feel well the next day. I'm glad I did not have to go to urgent care. I hope they figure out a way to do their business.

The dishes were flavorful and not bad at all. Unfortunately, I had diarrhea after the meal, which made the overall experience disappointing. I'm leaving this review because I hope the restaurant will pay more attention to food quality and safety. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I wanted to share my experience.

Eggplant is really, really good. The homemade pies are juicy and have plenty of meat inside. The lamb broth with seasoning is warming on a cold day. Friendly service, nice modern ambiance but keeps to traditional Mongolia vibe. My only gripe is the steamed lamb ribs had a lot of fat / more fat than meat on the bone.

It was a bit dry since it's fried but it's still edible to everyone's taste. We'll try the other lambs to taste the difference of it.

Came here to celebrate today's festivity. This place has good seating. Can hold a party of 100+ people. Our server is friendly and helpful. Has a bit of language barrier but we figure out how to communicate with visual tech. Now the food is great. Check my review for each order. Definitely recommend this place to anyone.

First time coming here and I tried to order over the phone, but their English wasn't the best, so I decided to come in to order instead. I recommend doing this so you can point to what you want to ensure you order the correct items. Inside was very clean and wasn't noisy at all, which was great. After I placed my To-Go order, they said it would be about 10mins and they were SO spot on. It took 9 minutes to get my food! I ordered the Mongolian Pie and the Cumin Lamb and both were so delicious!

Really love the food and service! Out of my heart. Gave either Mongolian salty milk tea or Yogurt for free. Free lamb soup. And they have the best lamb pie. Hope they can stay open forever. Large portions too!

Eating Mongolian food in Rowland Heights for the first time. This place has a very home-like feel. Came here for dinner with a party of three, and we ordered a lot of food. The appetizer vegetables were delicious I love the shredded potatoes and cucumbers. We ordered the hot pot with lamb and also the deep-fried lamb with spice. The lamb dishes are so delicious I know a lot of people aren't fans of eating lamb. But this was delicious. Service was friendly and lively. If you ever want to try Mongolian cuisine and give it a shot you won't be disappointed with this spot.

I'm not too familiar with Mongolian cuisine, but the food here is amazing. We ordered a few dishes to share as a group, and they were all so good. The grilled lamb ribs were perfectly seasoned, tender, and some of the best Asian style lamb ribs I've had. The stewed lamb sauce was also perfectly rich and salty, and the meat in the stew was tender as well. The veggies and meat pie were also good, and other people I was with actually loved the meat pies. They offer free soup with your meal, and the staff offered us free salty milk tea as well. Overall, I was impressed by the experience and would definitely come back!
