Very nice employees but they quoted me over $500,000 For a backyard paradise....large pool, spa gazebo kitchen the works. I got quoted by several other business for 1/3 of that with warranty. I'm sure they do great work but if my backyard costs more than my actual house I'd have to call myself stupid read more

We used Monji to redo our front yard. The big guy (owner) came out and spoke to us about options. We also had some dirt beds that we wanted rock added to. Came out to look at our courtyard and give a quote on adding some features. They roll up in a new Lexus. Cool. What is interesting is that no matter how many times I asked for a quote to do tile, stain, or stamp on the concrete he ignored me and made an excuse. 'we don't do concrete work on this side of town because the dirt can shift. We would need to tear out your whole courtyard and pour a new one." I ask if we can cut into the existing one to see how it is supported. he says that we can maybe do that. I've never met someone so uninterested in my business. So I ask a few questions. How did you get in to this? Family business. How many quotes a week? 20+. Now i get the picture. He left giving me a quote for 14K for a fountain and some potted plants with irrigation. Left out anything relating to concrete work. TLDR: He quoted me for what he wanted to do and how much he thought I could afford. Waste of time. read more

We just had the pleasure of Monji doing our front yard. Our yard is about 3000sf and was mostly turf beforehand. We wanted a yard that was drought tolerant but we did want the typical gravel plus cactus look. Aaron was able to take our ideas and make them truly come to life. We gave Monji Landscape a huge job to completely renovate our front yard and back garden. When we encounter a problem with their work, we get an immediate response from them, they send a crew to our home, tell us it isn't their problem. Very recently, we had our pavement sealed as we have a coated surface that requires maintenance. The crew came out, did the work during the rain. When things dried up , the re-sealing came up looking the same as before they sealed it. We called, they came out and said "that's not our fault". Dan Monji is a very nice, personable guy, but his word means nothing to us. read more

I had the opportunity to check out Monji Enterprises Green Wall (Patent pending so I was told a few times) at their display garden on Shellabarger, and I was very impressed. I've seen some quality landscaping before, but the green wall is something else. A living growing wall, with waterfall built into it, created to form shade to cool buildings in weather like we experience here in Bakersfield is simply BRILLIANT. The presentation was great, with Mike Monji explaining the technology, the service they supply to ensure the wall grows and flourishes, and some of the niche markets they are aiming for with this product. I will definitely be calling Monji Enterprises for all of my landscaping and tree restoration projects, I wish I could afford this type green wall for my home right now, because it would be simply amazing with summer coming. My wife and I dropped by the Monji Enterprises garden to get some idea on landscaping our backyard. Honestly, we weren't looking to hire a landscaper mostly because we are dedicated "Do It Yourself" people. However, if we do decide to hire someone, it will definitely be Monji! I am a person that believes in living life by the golden rule and am always so tickled when people treat me the same. Upon first entering the gardens, there was a man about to pull out of the work area, probably heading to a project site. He stopped and greeted me with a cheerful, "Good morning, how are you today? Do you need help with anything?" I explained that we were just there to her some ideas. He told me to enjoy the garden, who to see if I needed help, help myself to some cold water or coffee, make yourself at home. The atmosphere, vibe, and garden were all just perfect. After about 10 minutes, we were approached by the person he had told me to see if we needed help, Yesenia. Yesenia greeted us with 2 bottles of cold water and asked if we needed help. I told her about a shrub I was interested in. Yesenia went into the office area to return with not only the name of the shrub but, a print out of information on the shrub...wow! As her and I finished talking, my wife approached Yesenia with a leaf that had been attacked by a pest of some sort. My wife explained how we just started being attacked by a pest that was leaving the same markings on our plants, wondered if Yesenia knew what it was or how we could rid ourselves of it and our arch nemesis the SPIDER MITE!! Yesenia was honest and said she was not sure. She took my phone number, promising to call once she was able to speak to the designer and get an answer. I'll be honest, I left thinking, "Ya, sure she'll call me..." I figured since we had been honest about not acquiring their services, we were just another face, another non-client. WAS I WRONG! Low and behold, Yesenia called me about 3 hours later. She left a voicemail stating she had talked to the designer and he recommended 3 in 1 Bayer pest and mite control..I was floored, what great customer service! If we ever decide we need help with our half acre backyard, MONJI WILL BE OUR CHOICE, NO DOUBT!
