I left an email after hours for a quote on trimming all of my trees, not expecting a response until the following day. To my surprise, Linda texted me. We conversed a little bit and I called the next morning to schedule an appointment for an estimate. She came the following afternoon and viewed and discussed the job. I had lots of work done in our yard extracting with stump removal, (eucalyptus tree over 30ft tall, 2 mature fruit trees) pruning plum tree, removing a dead hedge and our lattice with vines and roots plus too many to list. The initial phone call was to set up a date to for someone to come out and give us an estimate. Very professional right from the start. Linda one of the owners was the person who came out. She was on time and was very informative. Talked us through the whole process that would take place and gave us a few ideas. A few days after we decided to go with CTS we set a date and their crew of 10 or so arrived on time and took care of business. Everything took about 5 hours max. I did not know, at the time, how much Cal-Tree had saved my tokus! The City of Bakersfield chose to install new sidewalk and collided with one of my trees during the process. The tenants called me to tell me how the tree was falling over. I immediately began my search for a tree service, because if the tree fell over in the wrong direction, I would be responsible for the damage to all the cars. The first call was to the City of Bakersfield, but of course, they said that their workman "found the tree that way" when they arrived -- strange coincidence that it should fall on the same day that their workman install a sidewalk, but whatever! My second call was to "one of the other tree services"... I honestly don't remember which one. They were closed at 3pm on a Friday, so they were not the company for me. My third call was to Cal-Tree. Within 15 minutes of talking to their receptionist, the owner, Linda, called me from another job site. I was impressed with the speedy response. I explained the situation and my urgency, and Linda promised that she would check out the job site and remove just enough to make the tree stable until they could find time to come back and finish the job. They came back a few days later and removed the tree to the stump. Finally, I could breath safely! I explained before the work started that I did not have the money for the full job, and Linda said that we could work on a payment plan if I provided a billing method that they could charge monthly. We broke the payment down into manageable chunks and I just made the last payment today! So... Remember how I said I did not realize how much I would be thankful at the time the work was done.... No more than 3 days after the tree was removed, a big windstorm came through Bakersfield. On my drive to work, I passed tree after tree that had been blown over by the wind storm, which was probably somehow connected to Hurricane Irma or some other weird weather thing. I could not believe how many sturdy, strong trees were uprooted by this storm! I then thought to myself... If I had waited, if Linda had not agreed to make a deal with me, if I had said, we can do it some other time... If any of these things had happened, that tree that was already falling over would for certain be on one of my tenants cars!
