Monkey Business in Cancun was a bit of a mixed bag. The food was pretty good, actually a step up from what you might expect at a Chili's. The service, on the other hand, had a little "monkey business" of its own, a busboy managed to spill food all over one of our guests and never offered any sort of compensation. I suppose these things happen, but it did take away from the experience. That said, I would still give it another shot. It is a solid, middle-of-the-road option if you are looking for casual dining. The restroom did have some water bugs, but to be fair, that is probably not unusual in the area. All in all, I would call it "just okay," but with potential if they tighten up the service. read more

Late night in Cancun and after walking the entire strip and bar hoping we ended up coming to this place because they had life music. No cover for entry was a plus and everyone was really nice. Temperature was taken and sanitizer for shoes and hands before we entered. Our server showed us to a table and we ordered the chips and salsa with chicken and steak and lime margaritas. Reasonable prices. The chips were handmade and Salsa were fantastic. The meat was tender and everything was hot. Lots of guacamole behind the cream cheese. Fresh ingredients. Everything tasted delicious. The margarita arrived and I wasn't impressed by the glass or presentation but OMG the flavor was 100/100 really good quality tequila, something that I need to add is that I noticed the straw was made of corn, and that was innovative, any effort to recycle and contribute to the save planet is appreciated. There was a very talented band playing rock, the audience got captivated by them. The female singer had a fantastic strong voice. A few other cover songs were played by a male singer he was also very talented, they both complemented each other other while they played a few covers and some requests from the audience. It's was a powerful, smooth, melodious performance. We had fun listening to some old classic rock. My friends wanted to try hookah (first timers) and our server came with a box and explained them everything about it and all the flavors they went for watermelon. Service was awesome, attentive and friendly and the server was always checking on us. We had another round of drinks and really enjoyed our night out there. I want to give this place 5 stars but it's hard when the ambiance DJ is a bit rude. Came here Monday and had an amazing time so we decided to come the next day. However the Ambience DJ was too rude. Signed up for karaoke but because it was a Spanish song he would keep Skipping me. I usually don't mind but when you're in Mexico, you would think they want something regional once in a while. The food was yummy and the drinks were good as well. Monkey Business restaurant and bar is a fun place in downtown Cancun on Kukulcan Boulevard. Somewhat touristy, but it is certainly fun for visitors and locals alike. The location is great and the view from the patio highlights much of the downtown Cancun action. Monkey Business has free WiFi, serves pretty good food, and they have karaoke. I indulged in the karaoke and had a great time. Regarding the beer, you can get a 32 ounce Modelo for $7 bucks, which is not a bad deal at all. Regarding the service, the staff has always done a great job for us. They are prompt, efficient, and very friendly. If you decide you want to join in on the karaoke, there are playlists floating around. If you can't find a playlist, just ask your server. In addition, if your cannot find your "go to" song like Carless Whisper (Joe G.), just ask the server who will inquire with the DJ. Chicken Fried by Zac Brown wasn't on the playlist, but the DJ was able to hook it up. Overall, Monkey Business is a great spot to chill, have a snack, have some drinks, sing a song, and then head off to the next spot. read more

This is the quietest place in the hotel zone Cancun. They have great live bands that play a few hours a night. The food, drinks and dessert are all great. I am letting everyone know that you have to be here before 9pm as Cancun is on a curfew and all places close early by 11pm. read more

This place plays rock music sporadically and on request, I'll base prices on an espresso martini it cost about 15.90 usd after I had to "wait" a minute until they could calculate a price. If your at an all inclusive, you'd be better off playing music on your speaker with your friends. And drinking for the money you already paid. Be careful with your check here. Waiter added a tip and tied to get me to sign real quick without looking by asking where I was from. I caught it and asked why I had just paid more than my bill cost, he said "Tip for me". This was definitely one of the highlights from our stay in Cancun. I was so excited for some fun live music . Tonight's band was mostly rock with a Latin flair but they took requests. They played for about 3hrs on this Friday night. 7:30pm-10:15pm. The service (especially Juan) was excellent and the drinks were top notch. My favorite was the "Jesse James". If we come back to Cancun we will definetly come back and try out more of the menu. Monkey Business is the worst experience I ever had in Mexico. This was my 3rd trip to Mexico. I went last Tuesday to Monkey Business and had good food and good service. We decided this past Saturday to go again. We went for lunch and the server advised us that they had a live band and recommended we reserve a table. So we did and we were the VIP's. I think VIP translates to money. We returned that night and spent 800 pesos and left a 200 peso tip. My husband asked for the bill. He put two 500 pesos in the billfold. We waited and waited for the server to come. The band was done and 90% of the crowd was gone. My husband could see I was tired so we looked around and our server was no where in sight. We left the money in the billfold and left. About 10 minutes later 3 waiters come running demanding we pay our tab. I kind of laughed because my husband is Mr. Honest. I wasn't worried because we just needed to explain. In no time the police and the military were there. I told my husband stop talking in English and speak in Spanish. Immediately the 3 waiters looked super nervous. I spoke to the soldier in Spanish and he just looked at me with sympathy and shrugged his shoulders. My husband said take me to jail I am not paying for something when I already did. Everyone was shocked. I started to cry so my husband said give me the damn bill this is too much for my wife. They brought up a new bill for 1600 pesos and my husband said you are damn thieves our bill was 800 pesos. So my husband paid another 800 pesos so he could take me to the hotel. Me and my girl had the best experience here. We went for my 30th bday dinner and they treated us like queens. Above and beyond going out of their way to make sure we had a good time. My first stop off of the resort in Cancun. Some friends of mine kept it simple with hookah and drinks. The place wasn't very crowded and was mostly a good amount of very attractive women there . The drinks were pretty good with great selection of tropical flavors. Didn't get to try the food , however from how I saw people eating , it's safe to say it was good enough to try. Paying for our drinks etc was kinda weird. They didn't take American dollars after 8 pm. Most of us had Pesos , just not enough on hand to pay for everything... Good thing I did lol .. At that point we left and walked along the path back to the Riu Cancun. It's a cool place to check out before you get ready for a night of festivities. Great bar in the center of the Zona Hotelera! This establishment doesn't have a ridiculous 100$ USD cover charge as opposed to the night clubs surrounding it. Solid outdoor vibes at this spot. We came on a Monday night and it was still relatively full. We came to smoke Hookah (there are a few spots in the Zone but my friend said this one had the best hookah glass or whatever you call it. It was solid but it wasn't fun smoking outside cause you can't have any fun then. They don't allow you to smoke inside. We also ordered Mojitos which were disappointed as most of the times we ordered Mojitos in Cancun. Why doesn't anyone know how to make a good Mojito here?! Guess I should've stuck to Margaritas haha. So we have been here a few times before tonight and have a good experience. So tonight I ordered a Jameson 7up. It game out Jameson soda water. I told the waiter it was wrong and he told me no I said soda. I told him I would never order that. He told me if I didn't drink it he would have to pay for it. I told him I wasn't drinking it because it was horrible. Mind you there was a live band plying at 11 so you could hardly hear. So when he brought the right drink I told him I would pay and it wasn't that big of a deal. He in turn brought 2 shots of tequila for free and everything was good. After we paid our bill we noticed they had t shirts for sale. They had a price of 240 pesos each. So we decided to buy 5 for our friends. So the waiter got all the different sizes we requested and came with the bill. It said 76 US. I told him it should be 59 US or round 1200 pesos and he tried to argue with me that I was wrong. They had a damn sign on the shirt display saying how much they were. So trying to give himself what a 17 dollar tip. Wtf. Watch your bill at this place. We will not go back. read more
