Last night was my first experience at Monkey King. Not a long wait, which was the best thing about this place. The music was extremely loud, our table wasn't clean, and the food was subpar. Our server was pleasant and attempted to make our experience great, but unfortunately the food was so bad I have to give this place two thumbs down!!! Salt & Pepper fries and chicken, the fries we great but the chicken wasn't seasoned at all. Green beans and tofu, the green beans were under seasoned and the tofu was over cooked to the point that it look like strips of beef mixed in with the veggies. This place can easily become our new hang out spot. One can feel right at home once you walk in. Staff was super friendly and it's really laid back. I don't feel ashamed to admit, I did lick my fingers a few times, especially after having a chicken wing. They were really cool about us ordering as we go. I think the staff might be working out their wait-style. We had two different staff taking orders which felt like they were attentive; however, we did have to remind them to check on on the order which the other staff took on several occasions. read more

Went Friday night with work friends. Food is fusion and fantastic. The $4 drinks are well worth it. I had the Coconut Mojito which was excellent. The Salt and Pepper tofu appetizer was killer - super well fried tofu in huge portion with shrimp chips which I do wish they had warned us about as a vegetarian - a meat eater scarfed those up. I was so full from the appetizer that I barely ate any of my green beans and tofu - but I had a wonderful lunch the next day. Great new spot! The duck fried rice is amazing. It's kind of greasy but I appreciate that they used real roast duck (indicated by the fat and crispy skin in the rice). The portion size is very generous as well. For a "pub & grub) I'd appreciate it if the lights were more dim like a bar. Every time I come here it's always super busy they're reasonably priced and the food is always good and fresh. They're chow fun is so good I highly recommend. However there is not a lot of parking and you might have to wait 15-20 minutes for your food. read more

I called to make reservations yesterday and was told to call back today because the reservationists wasn't in. When I called today I got the run around from two different people stating they weren't taking any reservations because they've been too busy during the week and on weekends! That's bull because people make reservations there all the time! When I asked to speak with the manager I was a told he was busy, which was a lie! Very! Very! Poor management and customer service! I have been to monkey king many times, but they are falling apart. I ordered pop stickers, rice and fish and chips. The pop stickers were doughy, the rice was wet and very gummy. The fish wasn't even cooked all the way and they mixed old fries with new fries. Never Again! read more

Our family eats there often; I bragged about your food to family Sunday. I was so disappointed and embarrassed with the good to go Sunday. We ordered through yelp, they didn't have our order correct after waiting 45 minutes; the order was wrong. We ordered kimchi fried rice it wasn't that, the order sizes significantly bigger ordered in house but we paid same price for food to go; orders so small. We ordered Chinese broccoli we got American broccoli and charged for Chinese broccoli. After going there had to wait a long time again. Always wanted to try this place out. Now that i have been here a few times ill write a review about it. This place is affordable for a late night drink and snacks. They have a $4 dollar menu which consist of some selected drinks and snacks. I have tried the Salt and pepper chicken wings and fries- Delicious, definitely a must get. Salt and pepper tofu and shrimp chips - also pretty good. Been awhile but can't remember the main entrees i had..probably because they weren't that memorable. I would only recommend getting appetizers here with your drinks. I have tried a few drinks here and they were all $4 and pretty good. But can't remember which ones i had so not much of a help. If you come here late and weekend nights the music is pumped up so loud you can't hear your own party's conversation. This only bad thug about this place is the waitresses and that it opens at 5pm! Other then that the food is amazing!!! I love their noodles(anyone of them) and their pork fried rice. Their chicken wings with fries is good too. They put this jalapeño and garlic stuff on the fries that make them taste so good. I also like their sweet and sour pork chops. Beef and broccoli is good too. If you want to sit and hang out, eat and drink with some friends I suggest this place. You have kids? I suggest calling ahead and taking it home. Food was ok nothing special. But why I am giving this place 3 stars was their service. An Asian petite waitress does not have good customer service. She never said a word after serving our food. Things to keep in mind when coming here: -Expect to wait at least an hour before being seated -The waiters here seem indifferent to your presence, and the needs of your table. -On terms of the atmosphere its alright. It would be nice if there was some sort of partition block the door as every time it swings open it let's a draft in. -Finally, if you're seated near the door be prepared to have people hovering in your personal space as well as those reeking with cologne/perfume. I'm only giving this place three stars because the food is really good and the workers used to be really nice. Unfortunately recently thought the place has become infested with ratchet (black) people when it used to be only Asians who came here. The wait takes forever the clientele is extremely annoying (ratchet) to be around and it makes me not even want to eat here I would definitely choose my food to go so I don't have to sit in this terrible environment. Linda, the manager, was unapologetic, and even refused to comp a few lemonades to help tide over 6 starving kids. HORRIBLE experience, and pathetic customer service on behalf of the manager. Came here on a Monday evening. I was glad that it's busy but not busy enough where you couldn't find a place to sit. I was surprised that with the foot traffic the staff was able to cater to our table with ease. As for the food. WOW! So much Asian fusion it was so good! I really liked the garlic noodles and the disco fries. I've never tried anything like the disco fries and Korean wings but it was very appetizing. Will come back to try more food. read more

The food at this place is actually very good - very tasty. However the service was mediocre at best. I did find it interesting that during the whole time we were there - lots of people were waiting for tables. Many of the tables were large ones - seating 8 people - and they would seat 2 people at these big tables! Now I don't claim to be a restaurant planner but common sense would tell me that they could turn over more tables by just getting rid of the huge tables! read more
