Started my car on a Friday just like any other day, but about a mile or 2 into my drive to work I just started hearing a dreaded rattling... Never a good sign. The second I got to work, I called to make an appointment to help diagnose what that rattling was. I am by no means a Car Expert, I just know that most days my car runs smooth, I change my oil when it's due, and I pump my gas lol. But even I know that a suspicious rumbling/rattling/shaking/clanging is probably not a sign that my car is doing well, lol. Something I love about Monkey Wrenches is their Key Drop-Off, I was able to just park my truck and leave my keys in the drop box, and head out in the morning, and sure enough, I got the call from Rima in the afternoon confirming they were getting started and they actually figured out what the issue was. Now, admittedly, the part that is always a bummer, and can't really be put on ANY business or team is the $$$ Issue, lol. Every business is entitled to charge what they charge, because it is their knowledge and experience that you are paying for, and it is not my place to judge or assume people's financial situations, but to me, I came in knowing it was probably going to be an expensive fix, and I acknowledge that, but I put my faith in this business and went through with it. And, I AM GLAD I DID! :D The day I picked up my car, Rima came out and showed me exactly what the problem was, I had a cracked Flex-Plate beneath my transmission. There was literal pieces of my flex plate missing, so the rivets holding it down were basically doing nothing and I had a metal frisbee bouncing around in my car potentially scratching at my transmission and a bunch of other fun things lol. And in case anyone gets this way, admittedly I do, there is NO WAY they could've pulled a fast one with something like this, or faked a diagnosis or tried to take advantage of someone who doesn't know much about cars as well as giving me some reassurance that it wasn't something I could have caused myself because I am a very safe driver, and sometimes parts just get worn, and weathered so they got to be replaced. They are honest and super kind, and I appreciate the work they did with my truck because driving it today, it drives almost smoother than I have ever felt it. Thank you! read more

Been shopping around for a repair shop in town for my F-150. I always look at customer reviews online to get an idea of reputation. A recent review caught my eye so I gave them a call about a customer getting a $65 quote and if they actually do that. I talked to one of their front desk people and she said they give free estimates. Come to find out, the $65 is for inspection which includes diagnosis and written findings. With that out of the way, they gave me an estimate for brake service and oil change. It wasn't outrageous and the lady I spoke with was kind. Booked an appointment for next week, and we'll see how it goes. So far so good. read more

Maybe the people of Brentwood would like to know just how Mr. Curran is lying to them. It is common knowledge that there were 3 owners of which Mr Curran and his Neighbor who was hired as temporary have driven the other 2 partners out. Mr Curran has bought 1 partner out with profits from the business which he would not have had he paid those who bought the business with him. He has accused both partners of stealing from the company when in fact he has cheated and stole from the company himself. And is now driving a van that belongs to the company and writing it off with tax deductions. read more

My Tribute broke down while in Brentwood Ca. I checked out Yelp for suggestions on an auto repair shop and selected Monkey Wrenches Auto Shop. After fixing my fuel pump I decided to have them check my front brakes since braking through the hills was difficult.Now I have a running car and smooth stopping. They have a special machine to turn rotors while still on your car. Great job. read more

Gave up working on all but my oldest car - 1949 Buick. It is the only one I don't need a computer for. Some day I will be so old that Dave will be the one although he is getting up there too!!
