This place's happy hour has to be one of the best deals you can get in this island. We ordered the wings and a simple Margherita pizza to share, and left feeling very full and satisfied. Our server (I believe her name was Fin) provided us with the best service I've ever experienced, making sure our food got to us quickly and that our glasses were never empty. Monkeypod has now become one of favorite establishments ever, I cannot recommend it enough. If you're ever in Lahaina, do yourself a favor and eat here. We had the broccoli salad whice was very interesting but good. Salty, sweet anf very diffrent than any broccoli salad I've ever had. Very good but not 20$ worth for sure. Located in Whaler's village. Park in the nearby garage is the most convenient and most restaurants offer a couple hours of parking validation. We did try their famous Mai tai with the lilikoi foam and it was good however I like the one at another place better. For that location, please see my other reviews. They also have excellent cream pies. Do not skip dessert is all I have to suggest. We didn't have any food because we had a reservation at another restaurant later that evening. The only BIG negative is they did not have any TVs playing current professional sports. During our visit, the NBA final was happening and it was a tight game. We were so disappointed that they didn't have it playing and they said they didn't have any smart TV capability to play it even after we asked. We had to resort to our phone to get updates. Happy hour 3:30 to 5 pm, no happy hour seating earlier than that not even by 5 mins! Luckily for me, it wasn't as popping as the other days so at 3:30 we were able to get seated right away. Others may have trekked in after. Good deals on drinks, lilikoi mai tai is good. $2 off crafted beer, $4 off cocktails. Their cocktails are pretty strong compared to a local restaurant within the vicinity. Happy hour pizza is $16 except for the bourgeois. There was some shrimp bacon on white cream sauce that was not on the menu, but was offered as part of the happy hour per our waiter. That was salty and I would have skipped on that had I known. Not much shrimp, mainly a cheese and bacon pizza. The Kailua pork pineapple with fresh sliced jalapeños was delish. Their rosemary red pepper wings off the appetizer menu were pretty good. It had a lot of flavor and balanced well with their yogurt feta sauce. Half off appetizers that are not seafood which leaves you with not much to choose from. Five stars for their famous Monkeypod Mai-tai - which is unique to them as there is this passionfruit cream or whipped cream or foam that is on top! Let me just say WOWZERS! $20 drink and worth every sip of it. This is a tangy-sweetish flavored foam that first hits the sweet spot of your palate, then the mixture of two rums and a thinly sliced sliver of pineapple. We went for the drink! But stayed for the view and the apps.... There was a 45-1hr wait, during the week at about 5-7pm. The venue is really big and quite loud at certain times of the day. It is a POPULAR place in Lahaina and a tad overpriced for the food..(IMHO) The server was really friendly and not pushy! Gave us options of what she recommended and we ended up having the tacos and the deviled eggs. It was about 7pm and we had a late lunch nearby at the Westin so we really went for the drink. The apps were appetizer size and so just enough. I like that they offered ice-cold water regularly.. I did like the open air concept of the restaurant and the vibes were nice, but let's get down to the food.. We ordered only a few things since we weren't that hungry, but knew we had to get some food in before it got too late and restaurants weren't open. We had: - lobster deviled eggs - this dish was way too salty for my liking, it lacked mustard as most deviled eggs has that. It was just a salty yolk with lobster on top and pairing it with a lime to squeeze on top was quite interesting. -Caesar salad - didn't come with croutons like most Caesar salads do, but it came with pita bread instead. The salad itself was also pretty salty and super cheesy which was weird because I could barely taste the dressing. - jalapeño mashed potatoes - looked a little like guacamole, but this was probably the best thing we had here. It was different, but I liked how it had a kick to it. There's a few locations and I believe this location is the only one that doesn't take reservations. We showed up around 5:30 and was quoted a 45 minute wait for a party of six. The wait wasn't too bad because there's a lot of shops in that shopping center to browse around or you can head to the beach. They are famous for their mai tais so I ordered one and my husband got the Ube Rey. The Mai tai was good and unique with their honey Lilikoi foam. I did find it a little more acidic compared to other Mai tais. I did enjoy the ube Rey more. It had a really good ube flavor!! For food I got the Kahlúa pork and pineapple pizza, poke tacos, lobster pizza, and their burger. One cool thing that they do for the Keiki menu is free noodles and cheese for kids under 3! I think the Best Bite was the Kahlúa pork pizza. Now, usually, I frown upon pineapple on pizza, but I was intrigued that they had a macadamia nut pesto on it. The pork had a nice little crisp to it, sweetness from the pineapple and savory from the macadamia nut pesto. The lobster pizza was just OK. There was a little too creamy. Poke tacos were nice and fresh and had a good creaminess and acidity from the avocado cream sauce. We ordered a little of everything but overall I would say nothing really stood out. They're known for their mai tais and presentation wise is very nice and tastes good but not something I'd go out of my way to order again. The poke tacos had 3 to an order, $9/taco is absurd to me considering it didn't taste fresh and taco shells were hard as a rock. No flavor whatsoever. The kalua pizza was okay, very oily. The coconut sauce was paired well with macadamia nut fish. Overall food is fine; however this is me deinfluencing you to eat here because of the hype. If you're someone who values food over vibes and views this is not the place for you. It certainly wasn't the restaurant for me. Excellent location with nice dining area that breezes keep cool on a hot day. We came to try the Mai Tai and were happy to find out they had a porter beer my husband could enjoy. I personally didn't care for the Mai Tai but our friend loved the spicy margarita. I switched to drinking the Brewed Awakening and it was phenomenal. So overall drinks were a hit! I had an opportunity to talk to someone in that in management regarding what happened and they were respectful how they listened. He explained that this is a new person that does this job and I just don't realize sometimes how they are acting. Like I stated in the original review pretty much everything else about the visit was good. The sandwich that my partner had a turkey avocado on fresh bread was excellent. My Aji fish sandwich was perfectly acceptable. It was a transition time for shifts, and I heard the wait staff talking about their work of it. I think it's important to speak up at the moment when you're having an issue with a staff member, but I was glad that the manager was happy to listen I probably will check out a Monkey Pod again and hopefully the next visit will be better this is a solid 3 1/2 star visit minus the greeter. read more

My feeling is they don't care about making good food because they rely on tourists, not repeat business, there's also limited options so tourists are going to try it because ambience is inviting. This location is inside the popular Whaler's village, close to the beach area. We came since this place popped up multiple times as a recommendation when visiting Maui. All in all, we had a good meal and enjoyed the drinks and live music, but the food wasn't particularly special and a bit expensive for the price point. The lamb pizza was my favorite, and the saimin was pretty good as well. The fish tacos and fish & chips were mediocre - not bad but not special either. Of the drinks, the mai tai with the lilikoi foam was the best, the rest of the drinks sounded good but were fairly typical cocktails. Service was good, our waitress was super friendly but they were quite busy so you don't get too much attention unless they are delivering something to your table. There wasn't AC and not enough wind/fan for the temperature that day, so it was slightly stuffy and too hot when dining (even worse in the bathrooms). Still the best Mai tai around. The service is always great and full of aloha. Tonight I grabbed the beet and goat cheese salad. I added grilled chicken for an additional charge. So yummy and lived the tangy vinaigrette. Had to try some pie so we tried the chocolate and the banana. I have tried the strawberry before so between these flavors I favor the banana the best of the three I have tried. The strawberry is next and very refreshing on a hot island day. When we first got to this place I was a little skeptical with the greeting at the front desk. However, after we were seated we met our first server who was actually supposed to be the acting manager for the night. He served us until Kyle could take over. I will have to say that both of them were absolutely awesome. So far it has been the best service we have had in Maui and we come here a lot. January 13, 2026 and we stopped in for happy hour. The hostess stand/check-in process went very smoothly. Within a few minutes, we were showing a table/taken to a table. Water arrived within moments, and we were told who our server would be... Within a few minutes, Louie showed up and took our beverage order. And like magic, within a few minutes, our beverages arrived. As in the past, the Mai Tai was delicious as was the NA/non-alcohol/virgin Mai Tai. Continuing with beverages, the No Ka Oi was very good as was the NA/no-alcohol Blind Tiger. And the wild mushroom pizza was fabulous. That being said the menu has some FABULOUS options. So unique and I love how literally everything is house made. I started my meal with a Mai tai and it was definitely a winner! I'm not too big on sweet drinks but this was pretty fabulous. We tried the shrimp for an app and even though I'm the biggest seafood gal they were stellar. Massive in size and flavor with a lovely sauce and moist cornbread. For mains I was honestly not super hungry so I just ordered off the kids meal. I got the keiki chicken, which came with a grilled chicken breast, French fry's, and broccoli. When I tell you this meal was absolutely perfect I mean it!! The chicken was perfect seasoned, broccoli was salty and fry's were to die forrrr. Girl dinner if I've ever had one! I was dining with my family and they ordered the beet salad and fish tacos. It was a resounding yum all around. For dessert we grabbed slices of both the coconut and strawberry pie, both were stellar but I'd definitely go with the strawberry if I had to pick between the two.
