We shopped for our dinner food in this market for 3 nights while we stayed in a cabin next door at the Lake View Lodge. The staff is friendly. We were surprised at how upscale the food selection was. Being one of only two markets in town you wouldn't think you'd get much. But this tiny market seems to have just about everything you'd need and even at decent prices. The staff is friendly and I always enjoy stopping here. BTW the meats are always awesome from here!!! read more

This supermarket in Lee Vining has everything you need! It has a wide range of beers (even Belgian), soda drinks, freshly baked snacks, energydrinks and bars, fresh and biological fruits and vegetables, alcohol, microwaveable food, shampoo, diapers, fresh waterbottles and other useful stuff you might by needing. Since it is located along the US395 and there isn't another supermarket for miles it's a good place to stock up on supplies and drinks if you travel further along this highway. The staff is friendly and helpful, the prices are ok. There is an ATM inside and across the street you can load up your tank too at the Shell gasstation (which is cheaper than Chevron). There is no wifi, but there is a cellphone next to the shop that you can use. read more

Not only is Chris (owner) an awesome guy who does so much for the local communities, the staff here are all really friendly people who return for work season after season.... If you're visiting nearby or just traveling through you NEED to stop in here and try the burritos and the CHEESECAKE, and mono bars!! Seriously, the best you can find on this side of the Sierras. Need advice on where to go, or what to do? Ask any of the staff!!! Or just buy a snack, take a load off on the red bench outside and admire the full block that is Lee Vining and the view of Mono Lake. There's this delicious produce that he orders from Apple Hill Farm (about an hour south) that you have to try, and he carries a wide selection of vegan-friendly foods. You can really find everything in this store! His prices are very competitive with Vons in Mammoth so save yourself the drive and support this little shop as it definitely goes directly back into the community, and it makes for good little addition to your trip! We just stayed at Lundy lake campground which is the best non crowded lake in the sierra's. We couldn't bring all of our food needed on the 7 day camping trip. I wish we would have because this is the nearest grocery store to the lake and it is super pricey! A loaf of bread is 6.50, can you believe that! Also everything else is super expensive and is price gouging. Bought beer, ground beef, and pancake syrup. A small bottle of jager cost 19.00 and everywhere else on the planet it costs 8-11. Bring your supplies or stop in mammoth before you camp. read more

What a great little market! This place had a ton of things campers and passers through could use and need. Organic and vegan friendly foods, decent selection of local beers (cold in the fridge), and bathroom/camping supplies. They also have ice! And it's cheap. I was impressed with their great selection being out in the middle of central California. Next time we are passing through Mono, this is where we will stop for any and all of our needs. Great little store! I usually spend 10 days plus out in the nearby desert, and around Mono Lake, and this little store has just the right supplies to get you through while enjoying the area. The "Monorrito" burritos and other hot and ready to eat treats are homemade and delicious and for such a small store, they just seem to have exactly what you need as far as beer, food, fresh vegetables, camping supplies, etc.... Friendly owner/staff and the prices are not unreasonable at all. Great fun sitting on the front porch bench meeting tourists from all over the world. (Foreign tourists going to or from Yosemite are always passing through.) I recommend stopping here on your way through town... Definitely worth it! read more

This market has a little bit of everything and as I understand is open every day, even in the off season, which is important to know since the only sit-down restaurant in town is closed on certain days during the winter. The pre-cooked food section included breakfast items such as a breakfast burrito (the "Monorito"--delicious!), scones, croissants, muffins, etc. Lunch items included sandwiches, rotisserie chicken, pizza, lasagna, hot dogs (kid-approved), soups (wife-approved), etc. They also offer coffee and ice cream by the scoop. The general store includes just about everything you'd expect to find in a grocery store from food to cooking/cleaning items, household items, common over-the-counter medications, etc. There are also local area maps. We visited several times and found the employees to be very friendly and helpful. Great find in Lee Vining! read more

My husband and I love this place. Awesome assortment of natural groceries (including gluten free and organic options). Produce looked good and fresh. Lots of local foods and products, too. We were excited to find coconut milk, tofu, and organic yogurt. There were also a lot of more "instant" international/natural foods that are great for camping and road trips. Prices were reasonable! I love this place. If I was stranded in Lee Vining for the rest of my life, I'd be okay as long as this market was open. Whoa. I know that's a huge statement to make considering Lee Vining is well, Lee Vining. But listen up folks, this place is like Portlandia and Santa Cruz packaged into a mini-mart. They have just about everything, including delicious homemade granola and paraben-free beauty products for my eczema. What else does a girl need?!?! As Alex L and I walked through browsing the locally sourced items, I realized that the majestic views of Mono Lake, a six-pack, and Yosemite less an an hour away = the perfect retiree life for me. I know it's gross, because it's like a million years away from reality. I just hope they keep those chorizo breakfast burritos until I'm 65 because they are soooo good. read more

The name of this market is "Mono Market" -- I believe. It is open ALL year, which is nice. It has your basic grocery selection, plus ice, liquor, beer, and wine. Sundry items as well, such as sunscreen. Nice hot food section -- burritos, enchiladas, prepared sandwiches -- good when you are on the go. This market would be a nice choice in Bishop or Jackson, but it's in Lee Vining, serving a population of a few hundred. Organic produce, a mix of gourmet treats and healthy choices jammed into a rustic shell. Their prepared foods are cooked on the premises and are a bargain. Try their homemade lasagna, enough for 2. Chili with carne asada or quiche just fine. Roast chicken was a little dry by evening since it's roasted in the morning. A nice alternative to Nicely's. Travelers know not to expect much from road markets in remote places, so this market is a pleasant surprise. read more

Wow - I was impressed by this little place. We just needed to stop and get some ice on our way into Yosemite and ended up getting some breakfast, too. The breakfast burrito which they call "Mono-rito" ($4.95) and also a feta and spinach croissant ($3.95) which I just couldn't pass up. Both were super tasty. The Monorito was big - my bf with a big appetite didn't eat all of it so he had a nice little snack later with the leftover portion. The breakfast sandwiches also looked great. What a find! I was on a tight schedule after a week-long backcountry trip to get back to San Francisco. I was in and out of this place in five minutes. The important thing is.... - hot veggie burrito, grab and go!, with real veggies in it, not just onions and peppers (a bit heavy on the cheese maybe but some people may like this) - nice staff - bag of beautiful grapes, grab and go!, great quality - overall great selection, I had many options If you've spent time in these parts you know it's not easy to find fresh and quality and great selection. Boy did I love this place, staying next door at the lodge, and being right there alongside a strip of restaurants (BBQ and diner). This market had all sorts of food and supplies for campers/backpackers as well as for hotel stays around Mono Lake. They are open til 10, later than most things (restaurants close at 9), so returning from day activities, a perfect stop for juice, snacks, whatever. They also have great breakfast burritos (home-made, in bacon, sausage, or chorizo) and home-made strudel, and ice cream. Many people enjoyed cones while sitting on the front porch. Decent prices, huge variety of frozen and fresh foods for a small country store, and friendly cashiers. All good. Best store in town! read more

For such a small place, great selection. Loved the veggie wrap: lots of bell peppers, cucumber, avocado, hummus. Freshly made, not soggy. Delicious. It wasn't labeled as organic, but the produce tasted so amazing I have to believe it wasn't from a factory farm. read more

Every time we drive through Lee Vining we have to stop at Mono Market and get a turkey wrap. It's filled with delicious fresh veggies (sprouts, bell peppers, cucumbers, onion, lettuce), sliced turkey, chopped walnuts, and the bast part being the amazing cranberry sauce. I think the sauce is part cranberry sauce part cream cheese. Whatever it is, it's surprisingly sweet, crunchy and yummy for a pre-made wrap. $5.95 read more

Yay! for Mono Market! I love these guys - the staff is so nice, the selections are outrageously perfect considering they're way out there on 395. I live in June Lake and feel as a larger town, the June Lake market should be better than what it is (some of the worst selections there) so I drive a bit out of the way to come here. Mono Market (or Lee Vining Market as it's called here) is the closest thing to us aside from Mammoth which is 20 minutes to the south. Mono carries tons of gluten/wheat-free selections, organic, fresh vegetables, local products, amaaaazing ice cream selection, fresh-cooked food/deli bar and they even have Kombucha, Yerba Mate and tons of other drinks that you would never find in a 7-11. They stand out with their progressive thinking and by giving their consumers a choice and more options. I love it. The only thing I might mention is to check the expiration dates on some items....I purchased a Kombucha that was already way due and didn't realize it until it was too late. To return it would have been a 16 mile drive for me so I can't take it back. But I totally get that they can't fully stock their items or they would take a loss at having full inventory during slow seasons. They still do a great job and I'm happy to support them. Skip the Mobil Mart and come here for your needs! Oh, the one thing I'm wishing for is that one day they'll carry Applegate's Organic Sunday Bacon! Pleeeeease! read more

We stopped at Mono Market on our way back from Death Valley to Mono Lake. We purchased chicken burritos and rosemary chicken rotisserie. Market was clean, very well stocked, fresh produce was excellent considering time of the year; and the older gentleman was great to talk to about the lake. We ate at the Lake and enjoyed the food very much. The food was really great!!! We plan to order our food in advance on our next visit to Mono Lake!! read more
