Had a meeting here and I love the Broad Ripple vibe. I've been having meetings in the area and this spot was really cute. The area kinda reminded me of Seattle. People were sipping their coffee outside, one guy had his breakfast snapping pictures of nature... it was cool. I only had coffee here and it was really good and strong! The Starbucks around the corner closed a few months ago but I'm happy this spot has its regulars and new people like me coming in. The inside is super cute and the staff were really nice. You can enter from the front or back and the seating was really engaging and comfortable. I enjoyed the diverse crowd of young and older people. It was busy but not loud at loud. I can't rate the food but the food and vibes were good. I will definitely go back! read more

Oh! What a cute, cozy spot right in the middle of broad ripple amongst all my favorite stores! I tried Monon for the first time yesterday and I loved the casual yet comfortable vibe and pretty quickly got to working. My Cortado was perfect with a hint of almond milk nuttiness and I enjoyed my time working there. There's a variety of teas, smoothies and breakfast options such as bagels and muffins. Parking is street only so may be tough to snag a spot although yesterday was a beeeze due to the tough weather. There are a couple tables and I imagine it might get busy on a nice day. I always find myself coming back to Monon. My close friends and family know I'm a big mug gal. I've always collected mugs, and the bigger the better. They serve a large cappuccino in a huge, cozy-in-the-hands mug... and with the world of to-go cups taking over, It's something that keeps bringing me back. This picture is from December, but I've been plenty of times with this exact order. I took a selfie for my family to gauge the ratio of the mug size lol. I give a 4/5 stars solely for the organization and seating. It's very compact- and the line takes over a lot of the seating in the front, while the seating in the back is also bit cramped. I also selfishly wish it was open past 3! For crazy afternoon coffee drinkers like me! However- it's obvious the community that gathers here is loyal, and for lots of good reasons. Great local coffee shop. Great regular espresso and specialty menu with rotating specials. I typically just go with a Cubano and a to go coffee. They have rotating drip coffee available with a self serve honor bar at the front. They also sell pastries as well if you need something to snack on! Nice local hang with regulars coming and chatting and a bulletin board with all of the local happenings. Art for sale on the walls. Mugs and other merch available on the shelves. Great coffee shop with a classic village cafe vibe. Lots of interesting, well-crafted, and rotating lattes and beverages. Coffee, cold brew, hot tea, and lattes have all been very tasty. A good amount of non-caffeinated options. It's also probably just my timing, but I have never seen it packed in the last year so it's always easy to stop in and get something tasty. They showcase lots of local artisan works and there are plenty of community postings. It's a real hub for Broad Ripple to come together. read more

I love the vibe in here. Everyone has always been friendly, there's plenty of seating for the small space and the menu is extensive, but not overwhelming. I had a cold recently and asked for a tea, but to pick it for me since they have a lot and they'd know better what'd be nice for a cold - and they were right! Plus all sizes of tea are the same price so I got the biggest size. The coffee drinks are wonderful too. Street parking is easy, but you're in Broad Ripple so if it's busy you may have to walk a bit. I recommend trying a seasonal drink, but they also have all the other regular coffee/espresso drinks as well. The inside is small but cozy, and the workers are always very attentive and friendly. This place is lovely! I just grabbed coffee here for the first time and thought it was super cute. They have some things you can buy as you first walk in and business cards for local companies. There are beans you can buy and some fun things to check out while you're waiting in line. The place was packed as it was a Saturday morning. I asked the barista a few questions and she answered me happily. I ended up getting the large iced Mona Lisa which is a cinnamon and honey latte. I finally got around to trying the Monon Coffee Company, as I usually don't want to deal with street parking. Although Broad Ripple has a lot of construction, it was easy to access. I love the specialty lattes, as they have some unique ones and change with the season. I tried a coconut cold brew and enjoyed it. They have a large menu offering and offerings such as smoothies and tea if you don't like coffee. The pricing is reasonable, and they had a sign posted that said there is a discount if you use cash. read more

This is the first place I think of when considering coffee shops in Broad Ripple. A friendly, compact coffee shop with great espresso options and there's always something new to try on the menu. When it's not too busy I've asked the baristas about some of the things that I have never heard of and they have taken the time to chat and explain. I like that they have a front seating area near the counter and a back seating area that is a little more private and quiet. I have never had a bad experience here. They are in a tough spot, as are many Broad Ripple businesses, due to the ongoing road construction in the area, but that's no slight against them, simply a warning if you are coming by car. This place is just off of the Monon Trail so it's easily accessible by bike or on foot. read more

I am very saddened that I can never get my order right here. Placing my order is no problem, always somebody with a great attitude assisting at the cash register. I cannot tolerate sweet drinks, because it makes me nauseous. I went in, and I asked for a double macchiato, which we turned into a caramel macchiato. I specified that I wanted very little caramel in it, so they wrote light on the cup. I saw the barista put three pumps of syrup in it, and still lined the cup with caramel. When I saw that she was going to drizzle some on top, I told her that she didn't need to, and she gave me a little bit of an attitude. I added some half-and-half to tone down the sweetness. I could not taste any of the espresso in my coffee, t was straight up caramel and after a couple sips I couldn't get myself to finish it. So if you like sweet drinks, they got you covered. A cozy spot right off the main strip of Broad Ripple. My favorite part about this spot: there was a nicely-sized bar at the coffee counter. The dream of the 90s is alive at the Monon. I used to work at the Abbey back in the 90s--the real one on Mass Ave. The Monon I think was around back then, but I hadn't been in it in years. Well whether or not it was there then, it's here now. It still has dumpster furniture, chalkboard menus, and authentic coffee drinks. When I say authentic, I don't necessarily mean to Italy. But I do mean the way we used to make them vs. just being a Starbucks clone. My friend ordered a macchiato and we got a proper old-school macchiato that was presented in a glass with panache. The dumpster furniture was probably the only letdown. It was a little hard to find a place that we could sit comfortably. That's sort of the charm of a 90s coffee shop. Stopped in here super quick coffee and anything I could grab for breakfast prior to a haircut down the street. This is such a welcoming and laid back coffee shop. No frills and not boosie at all-which I greatly appreciate. Just you're average coffee shop where you don't have to feel intimidated about ordering a fancy drink. They have several black coffees in canisters to choose from with descriptions of each on the board. They also offer all kinds of various specialty drinks and LOTS of pastries and yummies. It's been over 2 years since I stopped in Monon Coffee Company but some early morning errands in Broadripple meant I got to stop in again! I went with some Valentine's Day specialty drinks: the sweetheart zombie and the heartbreaker. The sweetheart zombie was their classic white zombie with raspberry and the heartbreaker was their cold brew with masala chai and vanilla sweet cream. I got the cold brew for my husband but I tried it and loved the kick from the masala chai. The sweetheart zombie was very good but also very sweet. I would probably opt for something else next time. I don't plan on taking a 2 year hiatus from this place again! The menu is huge and the drinks are great. Definitely a place you should check out! read more

This coffee shop is in Indy but has that very local, small town feel to it. There's an eclectic array of decor and small samples of local art available to purchase. Everything is hand written throughout the establishment and has a very personal touch to it. There are quite a few options for drinks and pastries (by quite a few, I mean a lot). Honestly, I was a little overwhelmed and took way too long to order. I ended up with a white mocha and peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was phenomenal (and gluten free). The drink was also very tasty, although very foamy to begin with. I tried some of their Mona Lisa too and that is a great drink for fans of cinnamon. I love that they have an "honor bar" with all of their drip coffees that allows people to skip the line, put their money in a jar, and just take their coffee and go. I wish there were a few more seating options but luckily there is a little extra space in the back - pro tip. They have free WiFi to do some work and you can find an outlet here and there. This place is tucked back in Broad Ripple. Parking can be hit or miss but I usually have good luck finding a meter along the canal. read more

This long time coffee shop has found a way to do a lot of things right! First, though they are in Broad Ripple, they managed to carve out a small parking lot in the back of their shop that if you are lucky, you can enter via the alley next to the shop. Next, they provided a handy rear entrance to the shop for those lucky souls, as well as a nice front entrance that is a bit more welcoming. Both entrances have spots for visitors to relax and check their devices while they enjoy their purchases. For folks like me who still like drip coffee, they have multiple options to try each day. I went with the Choo Choo Brew which was a rich black coffee, full of flavor, but not too strong. As the barista stated, this is the coffee that launched the business. I also picked up a tasty wedge of coffee cake that was sweet and had a bit of cinnamon and some crumble on top for a little more texture than the main cake body of the wedge. Very tasty too! The servers behind the counter were keeping everyone satisfied and were quite helpful with answering questions. Seems like a really nice place to relax and if you have to, get some work done. Monon Coffee Company is a very inviting place. The atmosphere was very relaxing and casual. The employees seemed very friendly both with customers and each other. They greeted me immediately and asked how my day was going and seemed like they were genuinely asking. I ordered a small hot chocolate and they accidentally made a large, so they apologized and offered it to me for no extra cost. The seating was somewhat limited, but that's to be expected for small coffee shop like this. They made good use of the space, offering two larger tables, several small tables, and an area featuring a coffee table surrounded by a small sofa and chairs. People were using this space to work, read, and enjoy their coffee when I visited. The chalkboard style menu was very clear and provided several options for smoothies, coffee, pastries, and more. The quirky shelving and mismatched furniture were very inviting and visually appealing too. There was also a self-serve area of various types of coffee that relieve any potentiate pressure of ordering at the counter, which was another welcome addition. Located right in Broad Ripple, there are plenty of parking areas nearby. Most of the parking options are metered, though that's to be expected in the area. Since it isn't directly on Broad Ripple Avenue, parking and crossing the street wasn't at all complicated or stressful. I give Monon Coffee Company a 5/5. I will definitely be returning. read more

I'm a total late bloomer. I can't count how many times I've been told via text, fb, email, IG tag, post-it-note-on-my-desk that I need to check out Monon Coffee Company. A few of my friends (regulars, on the daily) kept telling me that they would love to see my art on the walls of this coffee shop... ...so that was my original intro that I wrote a year ago, and of course never finished. Unfortunately you can't enjoy a cup of coffee/tea in their warm and cozy atmosphere with friends (damn pandy..) but you can swing by for a grab and go (16 oz. Americano with extra cream and 1 Splenda, so good!!). I'm so glad that they are still open and I hope in 2021 we'll be able to hangout with friends inside the shop! What can I say? Monon was a pleasantly surprising visit. On a weekday night, I purposefully drove to Broad Ripple in search of coffee because Yelp told me they were one of the only coffee shops still open after 6 pm. They close at 8 pm weekdays, by the way. Even though I got there at like 7:50 pm the barista was super friendly and told me to take my time deciding. We made some recommendations and I ended up going with a Sugar-free White Chocolate Breve. They have several sugar-free syrup options available. It was a perfect end to my night. Monon is definitely a hipster atmosphere! There isn't a ton of parking available to customers unless there is hidden parking I didn't see, so finding street parking is your best bet. They have a pretty diverse menu and options, including food and smoothies. There isn't a ton of seating available to sit and work from a laptop, but in this instance, I was just picking up some java to go. Free WiFi is available here. read more

Today was not my first visit to Monon Coffee Company, though I'll confess that Broad Ripple's atrocious parking situation tends to keep me away from the area with the exception of non-metered Sundays. I mean, c'mon. Broad Ripple's already pretentiously overpriced. I have to pay for parking now, too? While in most ways I've been fond of former Mayor Greg Ballard, I'll stand by my opinion that Ballard pretty much gutted the soul of Broad Ripple Village for the sake of a few bucks. Now, instead of a village you get hipster vendors and bored youth graffiti woven together into shops that are occasionally awesome, occasionally godawful and occasionally just the kind of shops that make you go "No, really. Who the heck actually buys this stuff?" Monon Coffee Company fits nicely within the "hipster" vibe, a solid purveyor of indie brews and Rene's Bakery baked goods (including health-conscious and gluten free options) all decked out in a grunge meets steampunk meets just plain ole' funky decor. There's affordable local artwork on the walls, another small section along the wall for packaged coffees and other items for sale, and a unisex bathroom so incredibly funky, and I'm not talking quality funk like George Clinton, that you'll swear you've taken an underground tunnel and landed in my own funky ole' commode. Boy, I wish I was kidding. They also serve up smoothies and they have some tea options, both hot and cold, so it's hard to picture anyone arriving at the order counter and not finding a way to leave happy. Located on Westfield Boulevard, Monon Coffee Company is, much like many businesses in the Broad Ripple area, not exactly stellar when it comes to wheelchair access. The good news is that there is an accessible metered spot one door down, a fairly decent but worn curb cut, and Monon itself doesn't have a step to get into it and is on one floor. The bad news? They have this old wooden door that opens inward and feels about as sticky as the aforementioned bathroom. Admit it, you visualized it. Here's the thing about hipsters, at least in my experience. They aren't exactly the most helpful bunch of folks. Oh sure, they'll fight like heck for your rights. They'll just look at you like "I'm reading a book and when I've finished my reading I MAY get out of my comfortable seat to help you with the door." Before you start getting all defensive, since we known darn well that Yelp is filled to the brim with opinionated hipsters, this is not an absolute statement. I know perfectly groovy, fine and hospitable hipsters. I've just never encountered them at Monon Coffee Company, though that could be because the tables/chairs where you can sit and enjoy your brew/baked goods are so tightly organized that you start to feel like you've stumbled into a filming of the next "Human Centipede" film. As a wheelchair user, I'd be hard-pressed to find a decent way to really relax in the funky yet claustrophobic setting. There are good things, of course, about Monon Coffee Company. They start with the employees, who've never been less than helpful and today were patient, funny and hospitable. I ordered a 20 oz. iced coffee with cream ($1.99) and I was impressed that the male employee immediately stopped paying attention to the attractive female he'd been talking to (she was cute) and gave me his full attention. In case you're wondering, I'm nowhere near as cute. As I was leaving, some metal part fell off the door - I think it may have been from the mail slot, though I never did quite figure it out. That's about par for the course in this ultra-casual but still quite good local coffeeshop. Monon Coffeeshop has its own reputation for supporting local artists and businesses, always a great thing, and has definitely more than held its own despite being only a block or two away from a Starbucks. Monon Coffee Company is never going to be one of my favorite coffee spots in Indy, though it's also not a spot I'll be hesitant to visit when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Monon Coffee is solid, but not quite a home run for me. First tip: if you don't want to pay for metered street parking in front, check out the lot to the side near the sno cone stand. It says reserved, but it is free for customers of those businesses (including MCC) from 5am - 5pm. Beware: apparently a tow truck shows up at 5:01pm sharp. Ouch. However, I would likely only be visiting in the morning or early afternoon, so this wouldn't be a problem. I like the vibe inside with a mish mash of comfy chairs, couches, and tables. Another tip: there are three small tables in the back by the bathrooms. P.S. that bathroom is so outdated and janky it's not even funny (read: the sink was completely covered up...so no one could wash their hands.) I was pleasantly surprised by the pastry selection (Four Birds wahoo!) and smoothie menu. I don't like coffee so I typically get a hot tea at coffee shops. They had a fairly extensive smoothie lineup - I got the house smoothie (strawberries + banana #basic) in the 12 oz. size for $3.95. Fresh and delicious! I liked it much. My wife and I went coffee free for a few weeks. Now we are back! But, now we are a bit more picky about the flavor of the coffee as well. We both had the Choo Choo coffee - loved it! The baked goods all look great. We tried the pumpkin bread - it was moist and very flavorful. There is free wifi - ask for the password. I tried it out and the speed was good at 8:00 on a Saturday morning. Refills are $0.50 and on the honor system - there is a cup next to where you get the coffee. The only issue we had was the Choo Choo must had been brewed earlier. While the flavor was still great, it was lacking a bit of heat. My wife likes cream in her coffee and with the cream, it was too cool. Not too cool to drink, just now as hot as a cup of joe should be. I will be back though! I'm a tea drinker, but this is my favorite coffee shop in Indy. They have the only coffee based drink I've ever truly enjoyed: the White Zombie. As a Butler grad broad ripple has always been a primary stomping ground for me and this place is tucked on the street behind Broad Ripple Ave which is the perfect spot to grab a drink while walking around.
