This place has severely gone down hill. There was a barista who was always so kind and knew my order, would get it promptly and was friendly and nice. He was the reason I went to hubbard and cravens weekly for the last three years or so. It seems like all the good people left and I am never going back, the service is slow, the management is awful and there's no air condition?!?! support any other local coffee shop, this place has lost its charm. read more

Always happy to patronize the locally owned spots, and even happier when they make amazing coffee! I needed a place to work outside my home for a few hours, so I dropped in here for a bit. Ordered a soy latte (yay, they have soy milk!) which was ready in a flash. After I retrieved my drink, I noticed they had a small sign indicating that they also offered breakfast sandwiches from Sahm's in addition to their baked goods. I sat at a table facing the ordering counter and was pleasantly surprised to find outlets below the bench seats. Put my earbuds in and got to work. My latte was rich and creamy, yum! This location is pretty busy, and I will say the music they were playing was some amazing classic rock but it was quite loud. Be aware if you intend to work here and take calls. I had a Teams meeting and decided to move to one of their outdoor tables. There was a bit of road noise but with my earbuds in it was fine ((their Wi-Fi worked great, also). An excellent neighborhood coffee place where folks know your name. I visited on a weekday morning while in town for a conference. I witnessed regulars coming in for their coffee and baristas calling them by their name and carrying on conversation like they have known each other for a while. It's so nice to visit a city and find places like Hubbard and Cravens who take coffee seriously. Not only for they roaster excellent coffee but they do an excellent job making sure the coffee they serve tastes excellent. I just bought a drip brew coffee and i wanted another one after finishing my first cup because it was good. It hit the spot and got me smiling in the morning. The space is ideal for meeting up with a friend or going solo with your book or computer. Not a lot of natural light the further you go back but their is a porch for those who want all natural light you can get. Hubbard and Cravens has a lot the coffee brewing accessories for sale that you would need, like drippers and filers. I'll be at Hubbard and Craven again if I'm in town visiting. read more

I enjoy Starbucks, but I'm over the flavor. I wanted to try something new and local! You can't beat a yelp search, when I typed in coffee. Hubbard and cravens popped up and I chose to go because it was closest to my office. Located in broadripple, on carrolton ave, it the second group of buildings down from the alley cat, you'll find Hubbard's. There was a good number of people hanging out around 7 which is awesome, lots of conversations and not just screen time. The baristas were very friendly! Let me answer questions, and made some great recommendations based on what I stated I liked. I ended up with a medium roast coffee, I wanted to try something simple before I went back for lattes or other drinks. I loved it! Just the right amount flavor and I add some cream because you know that they say about black coffee drinkers. I'll be back for some more coffee treats! read more

Work from home people: You can get some work done here, for sure. Almost all of the table are two-seaters, and there are several of them, so there's a good chance you'll find a place to open up your laptop and work. The only problem is that not every table has access to a power outlet, but what are you gonna do. Wi-fi is free and they provide you with the password. The bathrooms are clean, too. Oh, and this is a coffee shop, so they sell coffee! I got the house coffee, and it was pretty good. They also sell vegan baked goods here, which 10 years ago I would have ignored, but they (and by "they," I mean the people who are making vegan baked goods) are doing some good things in the vegan dessert world, and I think I am in love with the vegan carrot muffin that Hubbard & Craven sells here. It's more flavorful and tender than any non-vegan muffin I've ever tasted. I'm a vegan baked-good believer! read more

Stopped in to grab a cup of Joe. Maddie (Maddy?) was the barista whom made my iced Pumpkin Pie Latte. She was super sweet upon walking in. Natalie was the other gal whom was busy restocking and cleaning. She too was super nice as well. I've read some of the other reviews and I have to say that my experience was quite the opposite. This location may be experiencing issues with being short staffed so their closing hours may change, but that doesn't mean their quality while open has gone down. I feel like more customers could try a little understanding and patience. I was in the middle of my work day and I chose to be patient and understanding. And you know what? My experience was amazing because of that and these wonderful ladies. I most definitely will make it a point to stop by here when I am in the area. read more

Warning be early or don't go. We went to this coffee house today on a Sunday and were told we were too late to get a speciality coffee drink today since it was less than 30 minutes before closing (26 minutes left). They said they already cleaned up for closing which was obvious with chairs up on tables if someone wasn't sitting there. We decided to just get a coffee to go instead. Heard great things about the place so I am guessing that not what the owners had in mind. Our favorite Indy Coffee - we miss the downtown location and found this Broad Ripple one during our travels. Tucked away just off the main strip, there was no traffic on our way over early on a Sunday morning. Once inside there was a good line but well staffed and it moved quickly where we found ourselves enjoying our specialty coffees and breakfast sandwiches in minutes. I stopped by this cafe on a whim and am so glad I did!! I happened to be in the area and needed a quick pick me up. The staff was super friendly and there was plenty of seating available. I got both a cappuccino and southwest salad for $10, which is a fantastic price considering the great quality. Normally I try to avoid grab and go salads, but this one was amazing! Today was my second time here...in 2 days :) My friend and I were looking for a place to grab some coffee and chat on Saturday morning so we decided to check Hubbard & Cravens out. The woman who took our order was super friendly and patient as she answered all of our questions about the different muffins they had (super important questions). I ordered a Mocha Latte and a chocolate chip Muffin and both were fantastic. My friend's blueberry muffin was a tad underdone but her Cappuccino was great. On Sunday, however, my sister and I decided to stop in after church. The experience I had today was much different than yesterday. The staff seemed uninterested and annoyed to be at work. One of the baristas was obviously getting frustrated when people didn't come right up to get their order. I had to ask for a plate for the cinnamon crumb cake and no one asked if we wanted whipped cream on our lattes. I had such high expectations from Saturday than I was disappointed on Sunday. Perhaps my favorite local coffee shop in Indianapolis! I never go in here and leave without feeling refreshed and ready to start (or continue) my day. I typically do the cold brew, which is delicious all on its own, but adding a little bit of a milk alternative allows me to fall in love all of again each and every time I visit H&C. Is it weird that a cup of coffee can make me feel this way? For anyone looking to do work: there are plenty of table spaces, the outlets however are perhaps not the most convenient but what are you going to do. Free Wi-Fi though! I've always loved Hubbard & Cravens, but this has become a staple in my work week during the time of Covid. I look forward to my weekly walk through the neighborhood to get my caffeine boost. My go to this summer has been an iced lavender latte with whatever milk I'm feeling that day. Recently it's been almond, because I know you all were wondering. The lavender syrup is so delightful and refreshing and doesn't overpower the coffee itself. I'm one of those that likes to taste her coffee in her coffee bev. I appreciate H&C's use of syrup.
