Stevie had a very lg mass on her back that kept getting infected. After a couple rounds of antibiotics and talking with the Dr Joe we both agreed it needed to be removed. My husband and I were nervous about a 16 yr old dog having surgery. The surgery went so well and Joe and Chris are the most compassionate people and true lover of animals. We went to pick stevie up that night they had her on a blanket in the office next to chris. We absolutely have the best vet in madison which I've known since she was going as a puppy to them Stevie is doing great about 6 weeks post surgery no pain and back to going for our 1 mile walks a day. I truly believe most other vets would of said it's time to put her down in same situation. Dr Joe with his knowledge and skills and compassion has given us the gift of more time how ever long that may be with our sweet Stevie Thankyou Elin Malliet

She would not have lived to 15 without Dr Lynne's care. She gave our girl her quality of life back. Dr Lynne's was so patient with our skittish/nervous girl and wore her down with the best treats around! We got to a point where Harper would lay down with all of her accupuncture needles and actually relax to let them work. I think she also know how helpful this care was for her. After a visit she could run across the yard again because she felt so good! It was life changing for all of us and we're so grateful for the extra time together. I couldn't recommend Dr Lynne more. Andrea is their acupuncturist at the clinic and we scheduled an initial consultation with her. The first consult is $90 and treatment is another $137. At this point we were reaching and trying anything to receive comfort care for our sweet boy. We had high hopes or at least a small expectation that this would alleviate some of his symptoms. At the consultation, Andrea was asking more questions about my partner and I, than trying to get to know our boy. She asked what we did for work, asked us how we met, and what we liked to do, instead of using the allotted time to learn more about the actual patient. She has a Vet accreditation but didn't offer much about what could be the cause of the issue. Instead, she blindly suggested an herb mix that, "could help". That bottle of herbs was $58. She began the acupuncture treatment which involved only ~5 needles. I'm not sure what method of treatment she follows but half of the needle ended up falling out during the treatment. While waiting for the needles to move the Chi. She wanted to review his records from our primary vet and from the oncologist. I had emailed these to her prior to our appointment, hoping she would study them and have some background information for the consultation. Instead, she said she didn't get them and I had to call the different vet offices to have them resend the records to her. After getting off the phone, Andrea exclaimed that she had actually found them, they were in her spam folder. We left feeling a little weary and scratching at our heads, wondering if this was a typical experience. Deciding to give her another chance, and scheduled a second appointment. The second appointment left an even worst impression. We arrived 5 minutes early, only to be told by another person at the office that Andrea was running late because she was stuck in traffic, she'll be 15 minutes late. No problem. 15 minutes pass, 30 minutes pass. The other clinician popped in and apologized and said Andrea was on her way. Almost an hour after our scheduled appointment, Andrea arrived and said a quick "sorry", and proceeded to show us a picture she took of the accident that caused her to be late. We already wasted an hour, so we might as well try and get our boy some care. Andrea decided to try something new today and hook him up with this antique-y looking electrical current machine, which looked like a mini car jump starter, and clipped the clamps to the acupuncture needles, saying that it could help send waves into their bloodstream. Well as you can imagine, this new gimmick seemed very scary to our boy, and he immediately stood up, causing the needles and the clamps to fall off. Instead of trying it again, or trying something else. She just pulled out the remaining needles and ended the session. So our wait was longer than the duration of the appointment. And she charged us for the full appointment. No discounts for being an hour late, or try to acknowledge the inconvenience this may have caused us. Andrea just seems very air-headed and lacked any situational awareness. We have since gone to another acupuncturist who, to no shock, to anyone - conducts herself with more professionalism.

It was my first time at their new location, and everything went much better than I had anticipated. Parking was a breeze, the space was very clean and comfortable, every staff person we dealt with was very kind and compassionate, and they made the process as easy as possible given the situation. They even sent a personal sympathy card. They made us feel like they knew us and our cat for years. I still highly recommend Madison Vet Specialists & Emergency care for emergency needs (we see a different vet for regular vet services, so I'm unable to comment on that). Thank you! Original: I took my cat in for a non-emergency visit to get his eyes checked out. The place was easy to find and is beautiful inside. The waiting area was comfortable, the staff was very friendly and the vet and techs were extremely knowledgeable, to-the-point and fun to talk to. I am so happy we discovered this place. If there was ever an emergency with our cats, I would feel very comfortable taking them to Madison Veterinary Specialists! Thank you!

I read another review under "Beltline Animal Hospital" about how Dr. K tells his clients to feed…read moretheir pets Purina. He had better get with the times! I doubt that he has updated his thinking since he graduated Vet School in the 1960's or 1970's(?) He evidently tells all his clients to feed Purina to their pets. I recently had to speak with him by phone, as I adopted a cat from one of his clients. One of my questions was why he told this client to feed the cat Purina, when it was full of "junk" like fillers and by - products. He was abrupt, defensive, condescending and totally put out with ALL of my questions, including necessary info about the kitty's background. Could this be why he always answers his own phone? (No business, or is he a jerk to everyone, and cannot keep help?). Many years ago, when we first moved to Madison, my daughter came frantically to me as I was showering, and said her pet parakeet was very ill and falling off his perch. I told her to call around and see if any Vet could see "Freddie" on short notice. I got out of the shower and threw a towel on my wet hair and quickly got dressed. While my daughter drove, I held her little bird to my chest and soothed him. When we arrived at Beltline Hospital, Dr. K. went over to our bird's cage (which he was now in) and yanked him out with such force that he slammed the bird's head on the side of the cage door. I knew then he broke that little bird's neck. I quickly took him from Dr. K., and "Freddie" died in my hands. Although I firmly think our parakeet would have passed anyway, what the Vet did was just absolutely horrible!! With my daughter and I both crying, Dr. K. said there would be no charge (why should there be? He actually killed the bird!) We left that day and have not set foot in that "so called" Vet Hospital since! PLEASE take your much loved pets elsewhere!
