I never leave reviews - but after my amazing experience here I felt obligated to spread the word. I was driving from NH to NYC when my engine light starting blinking at me and the car started shuddering 25 minutes into the ride. Earlier that day my car was serviced at another station, and I was terrified they had screwed something up that would end up costing me a small fortune. After pulling off at the nearest exit, I found this shop. They immediately set to work on my car, spending a good 40 minutes checking everything that had been serviced. After the full inspection they identified that the air filter box wasn't properly set up & latched (which they fixed) and said it was either that or a bad tank of gas. When I asked how much - they didn't even charge me - which is unheard of! Upon getting back into the highway again, the same issue occurred and I brought it back. They added some enzymes into the gas tank, took it on an extended test drive (20+ mins) to ensure the issue was fixed, and brought it back. Overall, unbelievable service at an incredible price. Coming across a mechanic like this is 1 in a million. Thanks again guys! read more

-100000/10 do not recommend. I own an Audi Q5, and the check engine light came on about the middle-end of April. I brought it into Monro since they were listed as "in network" for my warranty coverage. They determined it was an issue with the turbo underboost. They looked under the hood and told me that the wastegate rod was "hanging", so they'd be clamping it. They did not inform me that they were repairing this inappropriately nor did they put in writing what repair was actually done. All it says on my invoice (that I have proof of) is "miscellaneous labor". The check engine light was still on, so I brought it to an Audi dealer, who later informed me through narrated video that someone took a cut wheel to the wastegate and clamped the rod in place, thus damaging the entire unit. In order for the light to be addressed, the entire turbocharger needs to be replaced. I then opened a damage claim with Monro and their insurance company, explained the situation, and they sent out an adjuster to speak with Audi and assess the vehicle. I received a call on June 25th that they would be denying liability, since Monro is arguing that the cut wheel was taken to the vehicle before they went in and clamped the rod. I pushed for the insurance agent to answer how they can determine that if there is no written evidence of what they did or did not do, and all she could say was that their decision was based on the report of the adjuster and of the Audi technician.  I feel this is incredibly irresponsible. I never had that unit looked at until Monro went under the hood (I bought it in January), and the manager and the "technician" spent more time telling me how much they'd saved me in replacing a turbo than they did explaining how exactly they were fixing my vehicle, or that their method would irreparably damage it.   I want to get the word out that this company is extremely shady, doesn't provide a proper itemized bill, and expects its clients to shell out even more money for the pieces they break. I will now be forced to take on an expensive repair bill that likely wouldn't be needed had Monro repaired the car properly. read more

We were driving thru on 95 July 4th wkend when the tire pressure alert went off. We called, but it went to voicemail. Amazingly, they called me back! Nick said they were open and to come right in. They just lost a long time customer. For the first time in my life I went to a scheduled oil change appointment just to be rudely told they do not have the type of oil for my vehicle. It would be different if I just walked in but this was a scheduled appointment. So let's assume the oil was out, you would think they would have the courtesy to call and let me know before I drove an hour to get there. Unfortunately it is just not the same since Mike left. The sign out front said that oil changes today were $24.99. I also needed my tire pressures checked, so I asked if the price were still $24.99. The manager said that it was. I waited for fifty minutes. I'm not sure why it took that long. The mechanic was able to take my car right into the bay. There was only one other customer in front of me, and he was still waiting for repairs to his car when I left. When my car was ready, the manager told me that it would cost $32.49. I told him that the sign out front said $24.99 and that I'd confirmed the price with him prior to the oil change. He said that didn't include labor and taxes. Then he said he would find me a discount, like he was doing me a favor. He charged me $26.91, which he said was the price with tax. If you look at my receipt, you will see that he took off $10 as a "job discount", then tacked on a miscellaneous "shop supply fee" for $3.25. So the total before taxes was $25.74 - still above the advertised $24.99 - and with taxes was $26.91. In the future, I'd rather spend a few extra dollars and go to a more trustworthy garage. read more

I made an appointment for a Saturday morning. I knew I needed new front rotors and break pads. They took my truck at 09:00 and I had it back by 11:30 or so. I live locally so my ride home went smoothly. Never went over 35mph. On Monday, I got in the truck to head to work at 5:00am. As I got on Rt495 and sped up to 65mph, the truck started to violently shake to the point where I had to pull to the right lane and decrease my speed to 45mph with hazards flashing. I got to work and called Meineke. They had me drop my truck off there so they could check it out. It seems as though the tech at Monro did not seat the new rotors flush with the hub flange or use the proper fasteners which caused extensive damage to the front end of my Ford F-150. The guys at Meineke asked me who I had do my brakes, and when I told them it was Monro they kind of laughed and said it's not the first time they'd heard about this shop. Long story short, I had to pay an additional $2000 to fix the damage and replace the rotors and pads on both sides. Monro initially charged me $739, so if you have $2730 to piss away on a brake job give Monro a call. I still have the damaged parts in the bed of my truck. Maybe I'll bring them to Monro so they can use them on the next person who's dumb enough to have them work on their vehicle. read more

My brother had his brakes done, the idiots didn't fit the rotary on correctly, ended up costing an additional $1200 to have the damage that it did repaired, and an additional $500 to replace the new pads and rotors. And that's not counting the initial $750 cost of the job done by "professionals". AVOID at all costs. I've never had a worse experience getting any repairs done with my car. It started out with missed promises for dates to look at my car or get going on the repair, which was a small transmission fluid leak. First they couldn't get the parts, I understand delays around the Jan 1st holiday, stuff happens. Two days in a row is unacceptable, all the time being very apologetic. Unfortunately, being sorry does not get me my car back when they told me it would be. I called back the following day (now Wednesday, I brought it in on Sunday, was supposed to be fixed by Tuesday), the person I've been talking to, Pete, was busy. I asked for them to have him call me back, they agreed. He didn't. They call me at about 10am the next morning to tell me they've lost my key, and I need to go to a dealership to get one made for them. They offered to pay for it (the LEAST they can do at this point). I get them the key, hoping the worst was over. Not so lucky. They agreed to call me by 8am Friday to give me a time frame for my car. No call, I call them at 10:30, talk to Pete again, he says they tried to start my car but my battery has died. They're charging their jump kit and will get to work on it ASAP and if need be get a new battery. I call at 2:30pm, Pete tells me someone is bringing them a new battery today (Friday) for the car. At this point, this is beyond ridiculous. They knew my battery was dead (their fault) and it takes almost a full day to rectify that problem? Really? Obviously it won't be until Saturday at the earliest for me to get this fixed, but upone seeing some of these other reviews here (and other places), I think I'm going to go get my car from them before they can start work on it and take it to the dealer I normally go to. I don't trust that I even need this ~$500 part from them at this point, at least not after this treatment. At this point, sorry doesn't cut it. read more

Worst time management. Made an appointment for 9 in the morning for a standard oil change and it took an entire hour to be completed. They tried to trick me into using the more expensive oil as per usual. I was a regular reoccurring customer so I felt used and mistreated. Definitely not going back and neither should you. There are plenty of other reputable automotive places around, both commercial and mom and pop and I urge customers to take their business elsewhere. read more

I had my oil changed , and was given a list of things they said needed to be repaired, rotors brakes, which I had done last summer, they told me the wrong air filter was put in, it was the right one. They took it out and didn't replace it correctly, my engine light came on, the car wouldn't run correctly. I limped home, opened the hood and saw that the air filter was not reinstalled correctly. the guys just didn't know how to close the cover to it. I went on you tube to see how to fix it and installed it the correct way. Don't trust what they say! All I wanted was an oil change not for them to dig into anything else and try to get me to pay for services I didn't need! read more

The quality of service was acceptable. BUT, I had $30 emergency toll money in a compartment that was not there when I picked up my vehicle. Upon reporting it, and after many phone calls with various managers, they said there was nothing they could do as reimbursement would be an admission of guilt. I don't care about $30. It's a $50k truck bought with cash. What I care about is the principle. No one likes the feeling of having something stolen. If they took care of business and offered reimbursememt or some other means of compensation I would have said, "Hey, crap happens, but they take care of it so all is good." As a 15 year small business owner I know the drill, and the value of keeping a client's faith in your business. The repair they made to my exhaust was acceptable, industry standard I suppose. It was made on short notice and performed fairly quickly. I'll give them that. I agreed to the quote of $150, which upon my arrival to pick up the truck had become $250. Of course I refused to pay $250 as I was QUOTED (not an estimate) $150 before I had agreed to the repairs. ...He tapped some keys and said, it was just a mistake. Their prices may be good but they don't actually do the work. This is kinda hard to explain but if you're interested keep reading. I would go to Monro's for my oil changes despite the long wait time and terrible customer service because I'm cheap. They were, and still are the cheapest around but sometimes being cheap bites you in the butt. In the span of 3 years I got about a dozen oil changes. Changes 1-4 at Monro. Change 5 at Jiffy Lube. Change 6-11 at Monro. Change 12 at Jiffy Lube. Following so far? While I was at Jiffy Lube during the 12th oil change the guy says to me, you should change your oil more often. You haven't had it changed in two years. I responded that Ive been going to Monro, but today I was in a rush so I came here. He said, and showed me a Jiffy Lube oil filter that had been on my car for two years! I paid for 5 oil changes in those two years at Monro's and clearly they weren't performing the service I was paying for. That's my story and that's why I give a one star rating. read more

Excellent Service!!! Had a flat tire. Was there first thing in morning. Manager took me right in. . Started compressors. Put enough in tire to hold it all day. I went to work and returned after to put on 2 new tires that he order. And got me better tires than stated in morning and at $50 less. They service is excellent there as this is my second time there. Recently my fiancee took her car here to get the brakes inspected as she was experiencing shuddering when she was breaking from highway speeds. After the free inspection, they proceeded to tell her that her rotors were warped and needed replacing, as well as both front and back break pads. However, once taking it to the dealership for a second opinion, they found no warping. The break pads did need replacing, but that is normal for a vehicle with as many miles on it as she has. Previously we went there as they were the only affordable shop around. The electrical system in the windows were failing in another model car we had (no longer do). After three attempts to fix two different windows, they failed. And they charged each time for this service even though it was their poor service that couldn't fix the problem in the first place. For anything other than an oil change or state inspection, STAY AWAY! read more

I have had nothing but problems every time I've gone to Monroe I would think I would learn to avoid them this time they didn't leave my oil cap off or tighten my Lugnuts to the point of throwing a bearing they simply got the wrong address and I never received my new credit card they insist you use it is called a Drive card avoid this card at all costs these people barely speak English I've called twice to correct my address. I never received the card I'd ever received a bill that was two months ago they will not take credit card payments so I could not give a secured payment over the phone I had to use my bank card which now gives them full access to my account buyer beware Here is an update very nice that Teresa reached out to me through customer service and left her phone number I have called four times the last time this morning I thanked her for reaching out. I continued to be courteous with each phone call and encouraged her to either help me reach resolution or offer me an exclamation. Teresa has not returned any of my calls nor picked up the phone. the most disturbing part of this whole debacle is that two more pending amounts from Drive Citibank are showing on my card and I had to get a new debit card and close out the one I gave the person who answered the phone at their account office I still have not received a bill which makes me wonder if they have actually changed my address I might never know. Now it is up to me to secure this problem. Besides closing my debit card I will be paying this bill off in full using another credit card money transfer check. I will not be supplying my own because the routing number and account number are clearly printed on the bottom. Decided to skip my regular mechanic and stop in Monro for brakes. Big mistake! After 45 minutes of looking at the car, I received a $4200 estimate. Brakes, shocks, struts, drive shaft, cv shaft, tires, and alignment. Yikes!!! So left and went to my mechanic. Brakes, cv shaft, inspection sticker... $501. Big difference. Monro are scam artists! Went in for an oil change and it took longer than most places (about 40 minutes) but they did the work for a reasonable price and didn't try to upsell me brakes or anything. They gave me a "report card" form on my brake pads and tires which all accurately showed that those parts of my car are about halfway through their lifespans, so I don't need new ones yet. The slow service might be due to the fact that I only saw one guy working in the shop, with a second guy on the desk, so they were backed up and actually sent people away while I was there. I would go there again for an oil change no problem, as long as I wasn't in a hurry. read more

I had been using Monroe for service and oil changes for years for my two cars. We both drive a lot so I am there every 6-8 weeks for one of the cars. Time after time I have not had an issue with either car. This week I was out of town so I had my gf bring in one of the cars for a standard oil change. The manager told her that she needed a new drain plug for the car and being a woman she trusted them and told them ok. They charged her $19.99 for a bolt that had not been leaking or had issues before. They also told her she needed her power steering flushed for $115 and she had a leaky valve cover gasket and the if the oil leaked on the exhaust her car could catch on fire $775 on a car with a book value of $1,000. It is obvious they were trying to take advantage of a woman... do not trust them, if you do take your car there for service, get a second opinion if you feel something is not right. I've been coming here for A LONG Time and the service was always great. The last two times it appears they have hired a couple crack heads as customer service. The kid behind the counter 31Jul17 appeared to be high, provided one word answers and then told me to go sit for 20 minutes until he could assist me. My daughter went there for and oil change and this guy tried to tell her she had all sorts of problems with here car, which she didn't, her car was fine and had no issues. He offered to do the work "after hours" for her using Munroe parts that he would sell her cheap. She came home crying because this guy sacred her, I immediately went there but he had already left. I called the main office and spoke with a supervisor and told him what had happened. He assured me he would handle it and get back to me. Never heard from him again. And never went back there again. Don't go here, these guys are dishonest. Brought my son's Mustang GT California Special for rear brakes. They said it needed pads, rotors, and calipers. They claimed because I let the pads grind down to the rotors, that it created so much dust that it destroyed both the calipers, which seemed hard to believe, because the brakes and the wheels are one of the dirtiest parts on the car. Every other mechanic for the past 40 years has told me let the pads grind down to the rotors, you need to replace both anyway. Monroe also said the front brakes need to be done immediately, and I should not leave the shop without replacing front brakes also, and if I don't do it now, the front calipers could go also (additional $600). In 40 years of driving, and over a million miles (~ 10 cars with over 150,000 miles), I have only had to replace one caliper on a Volkswagen Jetta at 185,000 miles. The Mustang had only 80,000 miles on it. I took the car to another mechanic, Fusco in Lawrence, miraculously the rear calipers were fine, and the front brakes were also fine. I also took my Jeep to Monroe for a clutch a few months earlier, they said they also had to replace the flywheel, which in hindsight was probably not true. Don't trust these guys, they seem nice, but they are dishonest. I called them up to confront them after I got brakes done elsewhere, and they were just silent on the phone, didn't deny anything. read more

STAY AWAY! I brought my truck there for an oil change and was told that my pinion seal was leaking and needed to be replaced. The repair cost me $250 and they charged me for 1.5 hours of labor when it only took them 45 mins. I later learned that this is a repair that should only be done at a dealership where they have the proper tools. My truck was never the same after that. One month later I brought the truck to another service station because it was making a noise. I was told that the noise was the bearings and that it was related to the replacement of the pinion seal. I brought it back to Monro and $781 later, the truck was still making the same noise! I ended up trading the truck in because I could not afford to keep dumping money into it. In my opinion, their technicians do not know what they are doing and on top of that, they are always complaining about their job. Moving on..... read more

I brought my car here because something was wrong with my car, after going to two shops and no one knowing what was wrong with it, I was frustrated and decided I would put it on hold. In the meantime I needed to get my exhaust fixed. I brought it to Monroe and after talking with Mike, the manager, he said they would check it out too to see if they could determine was what wrong. I got a phone call saying, everything was fine, but after some convincing from me that SOMETHING was definitely wrong they located two broken engine mounts. I was relieved and thought maybe I found a gem seeing as no one else could figure it out. NO, I was wrong. While they did locate the problem, it was nothing but issues going forward. I was lead on for 2 weeks being told that he couldn't find the parts needed, then he couldn't order the parts because he didn't have an account with the dealership, then he couldn't get in touch with anyone at corporate to give him the OK/ company credit to order the parts... it was such a hassle. I took my car to a dealer, told them what was wrong, they fixed my car, and by the end of the day I got a call to come pick it up. Simple enough. Monroe did end up fixing my exhaust, I had them take my aftermarket exhaust off and put the stock back on... About a month later my boyfriend was under the car and saw that the weld was only half welded! We brought it back and with no problem the guy re-welded the exhaust. A few weeks later my boyfriend had the car on a lift for an oil change and saw that the weld was still not complete... I will never go there again. read more

I have brought my vehicle in to this location 6 times and been charged for 3 different services, none of which resolved the issue that I brought it in for in the first place. I heard a noise that I told them sounded like the brakes but was told I needed new rear tires and struts which was completed over 2 days and cost me almost $800. After still hearing the noise I wasn't able to bring it in for a couple months due to my busy work schedule at 2 jobs. When I brought it in for the 3rd time I was told I needed a new wheel bearing which cost me another $600. After allegedly having that replaced I heard the noise later that same day and went right back to Monro to complain. They were not able to hear the noise when we took it for a drive. I returned a short time later with my mother as back up to complain because by this point I knew I was being conned, they told me to bring it in the next day and they would see what they could do. The next day they said I needed new brakes and wanted another $400 for that. I told them I would be getting a second opinion and later had the brake pads and rotors replaced for less than $300 elsewhere. I now question all the services I received there and whether any of them were actually completed or even necessary in the first place. I am disputing all the charges billed to my drive card which was offered through Monro as I do not intend to be taken advantage of as I know many other consumers have been by this company after seeing others' online reviews and talking to family members who have also been conned out of their hard earned money at various Monro locations. The worst part is how genuine they seem as they kindly take advantage of you. Do not give your business to these people, and if you've been taken advantage of by these con artists I urge you to contact call for action as I have! read more

BEWARE! This place is awful. They ripped me off when I had my brakes done. When my boyfriend called to go over the bill he was told they have a 30 day price guarantee. Good enough. We got an estimate from another shop and hand delivered it to Jason, the manager. When we followed up with Corporate a week later we were told they never received the paperwork. They called the shop and were told they would fax it right over. Fast forward another week. Called Corporate and you guessed it, they never received the paperwork. We faxed it ourselves and were now told that the estimate doesn't mention a warranty. What does a warranty have to do with a price guarantee? This place is crooked. On the day I dropped my car off for service I overheard the manager, Jason on the phone talking about someone needing to return money or go to jail. When I said "rough day" to him after the phone call he explained that the "asst manager" his buddy had abruptly quit after a $2000 deposit went "missing." This stand up guy needed to return the money or Corporate was going to press charges. Seriously avoid this place. They are scumbags. read more

Haverhill, MA Monro is an absolute nightmare. Long story short, they put the WRONG axle in my car. I am not a mechanic, but I know if a part does not fit something is wrong. I have been told this could have been dangerous. I would be afraid to ever have them work on my car again and feel a need to warn others of the horrible and dangerous quality of their work. After 2 tries, they still could not get an alignment right. I had to go to another Monro shop to get the right axle in. I just hope no damage was done to my car. A boot clamp kept coming off on the wrong axle and they tried to say another shop tampered with it. One appointment I had to try to resolve the problem was not even in their computer. Thank God, I walked out when the manager told me to wait 45 min. I managed to get the District Manager to refund my alignment after additional tries in another one of their shops, when the machine was down twice. The Haverhill manager charged me more then the phone quote because he did not include shop supplies. I call that bait and switch. I managed to get the shop fees taken off by the District Manager I spent many hours of my time waiting in Monro shops trying to resolve this mess and I get a $25 insulting service certificate in the mail with my name spelled wrong and the wrong address. read more

Hire turn over rate with technicians and managers. Staff is often brought in from other stores. Corporate Monro needs to get involved and turn this store around.
