In all honesty, the work done here was not good. Pro: Had one flat, managed to get me new tires before closing 5-7pm roughly. Guy at the front was nice and helpful. Con: After getting me new tires, car severely shook on highway. Came back next morning and they said it was the weights they stuck on. Took 10 min to look it over and my car still shook just not as badly. Ended up going to my dealership and they said my tires were allllll severely imbalanced. So, unfortunately I wouldn't recommend going here. Pricing seemed average. read more

I had my son's car towed to Monro for service. The salesperson Brady was so rude and unprofessional. I would not suggest this place to anyone. They tried to overcharge me for a diagnostic test. The sad part about it. They didn't even do the diagnostic test because she said the car would not stay running long enough to do the test. When I decided to have the car removed from their facility. Brady told me the cost was $207. For what???? Brady then threaten not to release the car to the tow truck. I never said I wouldn't pay. I did express my dissatisfaction of the service that I received. I also expressed that this felt like a scam. Then next day when the tow truck arrived. It's NO CHARGE! read more

I had asked to get my Nissan seen because I hit a curb, I told them to hold off on fixing it while I gathered the money. I called the second I had it and told them they could begin fixing it. I was working with the manager Aaron, the computer doesn't function properly and I waited ages to just to find out if I was approved to use drivecard financing.... He offered a great deal to fix it, but he was terrible with communication. He told me the car would be fixed today. Not only did he not call me and explain that it wouldn't be done that day but I had to show up at the location in order to get any real answers about what was going on. Monro on Port Rd. in Glendale: Substandard organization, lack of communication, and poor customer service. Last August, I spent over $1200 on tires/install/balancing at Monroe and my rims were damaged by the tire tech during said installation. The Staff at Monro did not disclose the damage after installation. Over the last 30 days, I have made several attempts to schedule a "free tire rotation" after tire purchase, and there seems to be a series of excuses to why they can't complete the job for hours or there is no record of my appointment. I have booked online three times and was denied service for several hours on the day of my appointments. So, to ensure that I would finally get in to the service bay again, I called last week for an appointment and spoke to one of the technicians at the Monro location on Port Washington Rd. The Monro technician confirmed the day and time over the phone. As scheduled, I arrive at Monro today for my appointment (first thing in the morning) and the gentleman at the front counter says he has no record of my appointment. The gentlemen then states that there are, "at least eight cars ahead you" and is unapologetic about the situation. Multiple attempts to get a simple stinkin' tire rotation. I spent a small fortune on tires at Monro on Port Rd. and this is how customers are treated? Save yourself the time, money, and frustration and go elsewhere. 1/2 star. read more

I do not recommend under any circumstances. There were multiple problems with the transmission repairs we had done on my husband's car, including defective parts. I ended up getting a lot of runaround from their corporate office and their district manger called me a liar while screaming at me over the phone and then hanging up on me. He clearly had an issue with dealing with women. I ended up getting reimbursed from someone else in the chain of companies involved in this fiasco, but it took months and hours of my time. Derek was polite, honest and realistic as to the time frame AND wearing a mask over his nose and mouth. Don't go on weekends. The rip off clowns are in charge. I usually have had very good luck here and have been bringing my cars here for almost 20 years. Today, my car was in the bay for exactly 25 minutes, which included at least 10 minutes to order a part and have it delivered. So, MAYBE 15 minutes. I was charged $120 labor by the sleeve tatted, Rob Halford wannabe mechanic, who first thought I was complaining that it had taken too long, then realized I was complaining it hadn't taken even a quarter of what I was charged. "Uh, blah, blah, blah" was the approximate explanation. It then took as long as the repair to check out. Poor, poor, poor. I can't begin to tell you what a nightmare experience I'm having dealing with Nick the manager at this location. I made an appointment to bring my car in for work on a Sunday in December, but it turns out the only mechanic on duty for the entire day could only hook my car up for diagnostics to get the error codes, but didn't know how to fix it. Also, they charge around $60 for the diagnostic, something you can have done for free at AutoZone. He told us he was still in school to learn how to be a technician. Why schedule an appointment if the car can't be repaired? Why schedule an appointment to have repair work done if the only person on duty isn't qualified? We then immediately scheduled an appointment for the next day. After checking out the car Nick called and told me the electronic load detection and camshaft sensor needed to be replaced and would cost $289.62. I authorized him to do the work. When I went to pick it up later that day, I saw Nick behind the counter and began to tell him about my experience on Sunday. At the same time, the woman printing out the receipt handed it to me and I signed it without checking the price. A few days later, when I went to file it, I noticed it was for $532.12! That's $242.50 more than he quoted me. I called immediately, but Nick was not there. The guy on the phone said he remembered the repair and that it was supposed to be the price I was quoted. He said to call Nick in the morning, which I did. Nick looked it up and said "I see what happened" and said he would take care of it. I assumed he would put the money back on my credit card, but two weeks later it hadn't been credited. I called AGAIN and Nick gave me an excuse that it would be in the form of a check from the corporate office (turns out they don't ever send refund checks). I waited for a check for another two weeks, which of course didn't happen. My next step was to contact the corporate customer service department. After explaining the ordeal to the woman on the phone, she said she would call the shop to talk to Nick and she would get back to me. That didn't happen. Today, Monday, I call the corporate customer service number again and got a different guy who found the notes, which apparently said Nick wasn't available. He said he would check into the matter and call me back. Five hours later and no return call. Just for reference about this matter: An electronic load detector and a camshaft sensor can be purchased at AutoZone for $32.99 and about $100 respectively. There's no way there could be $400 in labor charges. Stay far, far away from Nick and Monro. UPDATE 2/19/2019: Monro customer service never returned my phone call like they said they would, so I called them again. They said the person that would handle my complaint wasn't there and they would call back tomorrow. True to form, no one ever called. I called a third time and finally got someone to address the issue. I checked my credit card statement several days later and a refund had been posted. Wow. Worst experience ever. read more

Today I desperately needed a standard oil change and when I used my trusty yelp app found a few I was considering. Monro ended up winning mostly because I found a coupon for a $15 oil change on their website and that is ridiculous. There was an option to make reservations online but I just went in day of because my car was probably going to break down if I didn't take it in immediately. In short, I loved it and here is why: 1. They took me right away even though I didn't make an appointment 2. Gave me an estimation of 45 minutes and I think it took 30. 3. This location is right by bay shore mall so you can shop while you wait 4. Did not try to up sale me anything 5. Final cost was $19---I don't know the last time I paid that little I'll be back. read more

I was a long time loyal customer of Monroe but when they took over the car x franchise things apparently got very shady . Here's what happened: I was "shocked" as to how badly I got taken and I "strutted"out their shop door $2200 poorer (puns intended for your entertainment) I brought my 2006 Subaru with 80000 miles in to Monroe tires as it made a loud whirring noise coming from the rear drivers side tire " could it be the bearings or something like that ? " I asked Nick the manager. Nick was very nice and said he'd check it out . An hour later he called and said , yep just what I thought , struts are shot and all 4 wheels need replacement . "Gosh Nick that sounds like it could be expensive how much am I in for ? " 2200. 00 was the cost he quoted . I trusted theses guys as I had been a long time customer. But this whirring noise was driving me crazy and I was going on a long trip next week and I needed this thing fixed . Oh well, bite the bullet , these guys are the experts so they must know what they are talking about. I picked the car up and paid the bill and thanked Nick . "It's good to know my car is in good hands with such a reputable company like Monroe tires ". ( I really didn't say that to Nick but I need to insert a bit more sarcasm ) When I took the car out wouldn't you know it , the car whirred like a tornado ! I brought it back the next day and asked Nick " hey , wasn't this 2200 repair supposed to take care of my original complaint?? And ..."didn't anyone take my car out for a ride after it was "fixed " to make sure this hurricane sound was quashed ? Nick said he'd look at it again and see what the problem was . Sure enough he called back a few hours later and gave me the good news " yep , we found the problem it was your wheel bearings " don't worry Dave , no charge " . well that's great thanks Nick , you replaced my entire suspension system and four tires at a cost of 2200 bucks when all it needed was a 200 dollar repair ! And didn't I tell you from the get go that I thought it was the wheel bearing ? I'll spare you the details and explanation that Nick tried to give me . It's like listening to a car thief who is trying to explain how he accidentally stole your car Adding insult to injury they charged my 85.00 for tire recycling fee ( they refused to give me the tires back afterwards ) , 70 buck for "road hazard coverage " ( it's like tire insurance or something) 39 dollars shop supply fee 43 for a stem seal kit " all of these extras I had not asked for . Nick said he would refund these costs to me but I'll see if that happens . This is simply bad business and doesn't promote your service in any way. You can only make so much cash off of gouging your customers like that and then treating them like fools before this kind of stuff catches up with you . By the way, all I asked for was a discount on the work they did that I did not need . I was polite but firm but Nick would not do more than take the charges off my card for the work that I did not ask for. I'm including a copy of this bill as well so see for yourself read more

Feeling a bit like we got gouged, $100 an hour labor seems high! We paid over $800 for a new radiator with negotiating but we were really in a jam in the middle of winter, granted their was no charge for diagnostic test. The next time we needed minor fuel filter part but was charged $80; when I told my former mechanic in L.A. he was floored...When that did not fix problem we were quoted $100 for a diagnostic test to find out why are engine was sputtering...but were concerned about how much the repair would be after that... Thankfully we were referred to a shop with empathetic, honest and reasonable non franchise auto shop Habhegger Wheel & Axle that that did diagnostic for free and Tuneup for under $300 did the trick! read more

Car was damaged by the mechanic who did the oil change. He crushed the Transmission oil pan with the lift, creating a leak so severe the car didn't make it home. Go anywhere else to get your car serviced. With as many of the reviews I have read now Monroe is a horrible business and shouldnt be allowed to be in business. read more

The customer service at Monro is fantastic. We have taken several different cars here for various reasons and every time they have been able to accommodate our busy schedules and get the job done. I called one day because I had a brake light out and didn't have the tools I needed to fix it. I already bought the bulb and because we are regular customers, they changed it for me for free. On a different occasion, I had a flat tire. I was able to pump enough air into it to get it to their shop. Despite having a full house, they fixed it for me in the amount of time it took me to get in my workout. They have always been helpful, pleasant, and trustworthy! read more

I've been going here for oil changes for a year and a half, and also got a set of new tires from them and some front end work about a year ago. Despite the fact that they are a big chain, they are one of the most friendly, quick, reliable and communicative auto shops I have been to. Oil changes are as inexpensive as they come (with the coupons on their website), and my new tires were also the best deal here with a coupon on their website. They don't give you a long list of unnecessary repairs, and they are happy to explain or even physically show you what's wrong with your car. However, their standard prices for parts and labor on repairs are MUCH higher than the locally-owned shops in Riverwest (thus my 4-star rather than 5-star rating). For a repair they recommended after my most recent oil change, I called around to Habhegger and Lindem's and got quotes from both that were 40-50% below what Monro quoted me. Having already told Monro to go ahead and do the work, I was very frustrated that I was being overcharged, and figured I would have to suck it up for being yet another stereotypical woman who doesn't take the time to know what's up with her car. However, I called Monro back and asked them why their price was so much higher for the same work. They didn't really give me much of an explanation (maybe they have a different source for the part? or just more of a markup on parts and labor because they are a franchise?), but they agreed to match a written quote from another shop, even though they were already doing the work. So I got a printout of one of the other quotes and brought it in when I picked up my car. The repair was done quickly and they were super friendly about adjusting the price. That kind of customer service will keep me coming back, at least for oil changes and perhaps for other repairs if they will match other quotes again. read more

After Monro took over this auto repair shop the service went downhill fast. Even worse, they were dishonest, both about the work that our car needed and about the price estimate. When we arrived to pick up our car, the price they charged was $300 more than they told us it would cost. When we complained, they refused to address our problems. We contacted the national headquarters, who said that they would help us if we produced coupons from other repair shops with comparable prices. We weren't asking them to charge us comparable prices; we were complaining because they charged us for work that we didn't authorize (and we're not even certain that they did the work), and because their estimate was wildly inaccurate. We now go to Midas about a mile north, and we're very pleased with their work...and honesty. read more

I had a hole in my resonator on my 2005 VW Jetta. I took it to Monro asking if they could replace it, they informed me I would have to replace the whole back half of the exhaust system, including my muffler which was in fine shape, to the tune of $650 dollars. I specifically asked Monroe if they could cut out the bad resonator and splice a new one into the exhaust system. They said no, and the entire system had to be replaced. I took this for a second opinion at another shop, they easily replaced the resonator by splicing a new one in, the whole process cost me $225 and about and hour and a half. I do not recommend coming to this place, definitely do not act on their estimates right away. They will try to get you to spend more money than is needed! read more

Goodyear didn't carry her tire and wouldn't have one available until after the 26th. Nick was AMAZING. Realized our predicament. Got us in right away and charged us a reasonable price. I was looking for an alternative garage after I felt my car dealership was charging too much. The people at Monro seemed nice enough with the first oil change and then when I needed a light fixed in my headlights, they took me in quickly. I even accepted the fact that I had to spend $1200 on sway brake links and some other repairs at the end of the year that I set up the appointment. I had taken it in before the appointment when my engine light came on and I drove there in a blizzard to get everything taken care of at once and accepted the fact that I had charged $1500 on a credit card I had just paid off. Lo and behold, about 6 weeks later I hear rattling so I took it to a closer Monro Auto nearby and said something was tightened up. Luckily I wasn't charged. The dreaded engine light came back on and after Autozone gave me the code, I had a new problem. I had tried the Monro near me and they said they didn't have the equipment and i would need to go to Cudahy or someplace farther south. I decided to go back to Andrews and it was related to the fix that was made in January regarding a vacuum hose. They informed me whoever did the job wasn't very careful. Luckily I didn't need to leave my car for the day like one of the Monros wanted when I called. I wound up spending another $300 for Andrews to correct the job that Monro at this location couldn't do correctly. So nice that I have now spent $1800 and had the anxiety of taking my car in twice for messy work. I emailed their customer service after I took it in April and expressed my frustration. I got a response that said if I felt my estimate was too much, they would reimburse me for the difference but it had to be within 30 days. I already gave them the timeline that this got fixed in late January, had to be corrected once in mid-March and corrected again in early April so obviously any problems that happened occurred after the 30 day timeline and I felt that was just a cop out on customer service's response. This is just a place to avoid period. If they do bad work, customer service certainly isn't going to listen. It made me appreciate Andrews Toyota all the more. I would not recommend any location after this. It's not say the personalities are bad, thats' the sad part, I liked the people that I dealt with, nobody was rude, but I'll pass. Horrible results with the cars. First my boyfriend's brake didn't work so we left it there and contact them to fix it. It turned out great at and Nick seems like a really nice guy. They replaced his brake for $700 and So we trusted him to bring my car in for them to do a car inspection and fix what needs to be fix. It cost a little more than $1,500. As soon as I start my car to leave my brake light was on. It was never on before when I left it there. Nick said to ignored them and he test drive it so it's good. My brakes got worse as days and weeks goes by. Remember all of them car repairs happened in June 2018 and it's still June now. My car makes noises when I brake and it vibrates and sometimes whistle sound. Today my brake has completely gone out. That's not safe! And 8 hours later my boyfriend's car brake stop working. This is horrible. How did both of our cars brakes went out within a month?!??? Horrible job. I will never come back! I want at least half of our money back or get them done again at no cost. I brought my vehicle in because of a check engine light. Within 30 mins I was called with a diagnosis and a price. The work was done in a few hours and was ready for pick up. On the way home the light came on again, I immediately called Nick at that shop and told him my dilemma. "Bring it in and we will fix you up." Worst piece of shit car shop I've ever been to. After talking to the manager multiple times about the spelling of my name on the account, the manager Tim still didn't change it. The first worker who spelled my name spelled it as "VeeGay" (We gay) which obviously was meant as a joke and a laugh for their workers. I called and confronted Tim, and he was apologetic but never changed my name on file to my correct name. I just got an oil change. I got the receipt and it will says "VeeGay". That means TIM, the manager knew that he never changed the incorrect spelling of my name and he just didn't give a shit. I don't have to put up with this bullshit. Also, when ever I get an oil change here, they ALWAYS try to harass me into getting things done on my car that NO OTHER car mechanics have told me I need to get done. Also, while I was waiting for my oil change, TIM, was talking on the phone with someone about going to jail, stealing money from the shop, and workers pocketing money for services. So unprofessional. I had been to Monro in the fall for an oil change, and remembered having paid less than what I was being charged this time around. At first, they told me they couldn't lower the price, because they didn't want to be liable. After I explained that I had been to Monro before and had paid a different amount, they looked my information up in the system, and sure enough were suddenly then "able to lower the price." Drew, who had been "helping" me, had to leave shortly after, and on his way out, said to another employee "good luck with THAT (referring to me, clearly)". They then "began my oil change" (my car was in the garage and raised), and I sat and waited for about 15 minutes, before the other employee came out from the garage and told me "they didn't have the equipment to do an oil change" after all.
