I went for wheel alignment,The front desk guy asked the worker if they could do the alignment. The worker thought for a moment and said yes. I then asked the front desk guy if he was sure the worker would do it. He replied, "Yeah, yeah." After that, he was quite impressed. "Oh, brand new tires!" he exclaimed. The worker run the car over the tool. I got brand new tires, but he almost ruined one of them there is a video I uploaded too. He took 1.5 hours to complete the alignment. After that, he blamed the machine, but I know it wasn't the machine. The worker didn't even use the proper tools. The proper tools are 14mm and 19mm, but he used an adjustable wrench and grip plier. I don't know if they actually train their employees to use proper tools. I brought my car in for exhaust work because even though my check engine light wasn't on, I had an obvious and loud exhaust leak. It was two weeks of back and forth with them and they just couldn't get it right. I would leave and the check engine light would come back on a few miles down the road. So after bringing it back twice, they told me that the O2 sensor needed to be replaced to the tune of $500. Mind you, I had already paid them $2k for a catalytic converter, resonator, and muffler - the check engine light should not be coming on AFTER they worked on it/installed new parts. I told them no way, picked it up, and brought it home. Turns out they melted my O2 sensor while applying heat during maintenance on the exhaust. Instead of admitting to a common mistake, they just tried to siphon more money out of my pocket. I contacted corporate and sent emails to no avail. No one cares here. read more

On 03/11/2025 I was told by manager at Monroe of Vernon that I need a water pump,3 days later I was told that it taking long because employee broke the turbo,3 more days I was told that a Master mechanic needs to come work on it, I was then told truck was ready,I paid the $900 and when I tried to take off truck only go 3 mph,I was then told that they never test drove the car and because I drove car just 12 feet into street that they can't repair and that because I had a water pump fixed I should have also had my timing chain fix which they don't do,after talking to the Enfield store master mechanic he stated that it wasn't true and knows nothing about what had happened..after having a Ford Master mechanic come look at truck and I never told him about Monroe Muffler mechanic breaking my turbo he started truck and immediately said something wrong with turbo,also Monroe mechanic tried to make it my fault. read more

The district manager got in contact me and offered to completely pay for all of the expenses I was charged to get their mistake fixed. Although Monro's mechanic made some big mistakes, the customer service I was received in getting the problem resolved was excellent. It says a lot when a company owns their mistakes and is willing to make it right. In my experiences, it is (sadly) very rare for a company to do this and I highly respect Monro as a company for what they did. read more

I brought my car in to have the tires checked for a slow leak. They checked all the tires for me and found no leaks and calibrated the air in all 4 tires. I do a lot of driving so it's a huge relief to have a place that can get me a quick appointment just to check little things like that. They're always honest about the issues and I really feel like I can trust them. read more

TireRack lists Monro Muffler in Vernon, CT as one of their recommended installers. As a recommended installer of new tires from TireRack, they are supposed to install four new tires on the car with new valve stems, balance the wheels, and dispose of the tires for a total of $78 plus tax. My experience was different. I made an appointment and brought the car with the new tires to Monro. They immediately gave me an invoice for $195. They said a four wheel alignment was required with the four tires - never mentioned by TireRack. When I refused the alignment the employee said that $78 was never the right price anyway. I left. Wheel alignment is a maintenance task I would not necessarily choose to have done at a muffler shop without more information about their capabilities. The price for the alignment seemed pretty high compared to shops that have done this task for me before. Consumer Reports magazine recommends TireRack as a source for new tires. However, TireRack's recommendations for installers, particularly this Monro Muffler store do not meet my expectations. read more

I cannot caution against taking your car here more strongly!!! In September I brought my car to this Monro to deal with a vibration I was feeling in the front tires. Turns out the cause was the wheel bearing, but while trying to fix this vibration, the staff at this Monro managed to completely destroy one of my car's brake calipers. As a result, my car's back brakes were overheating to over 1000ºF whenever I drove it to work. Plus they charged me almost $3000! I brought the car back to them three times and three times was told that it was fixed, turns out you can't take them at their word. In the end, they did discover what they originally broke to cause them to overheat - and then tried to charge me another $500 to fix their own mistake.... so much for their supposed warranty on workmanship. In addition, they also misadjusted the parking brake. My car is a manual so this is literally how you keep the car in park - for over a month this meant I literally had to place a large rock behind my tire in order to keep my car from rolling away while parked. Again, all three times I brought the car back to them I reminded them that this was an issue and was told it would be fixed.... It never was. I ended up taking my car to another shop and they quickly and easily fixed both issues the first time. Since they obviously botched the job and refused to cover these things according to the terms of their warranty, I have been trying to get a refund from Monro for months now. First by disputing the credit charge, then through the better business bureau and now by contacting their corporate office directly. Every step of the way they have been trying to block this dispute and hold on to my money despite their obviously shoddy work. PLEASE, save yourself the headache and do not take your car here! I would give zero stars if I could. EDIT in response to their comment: I have been in contact with your customer service department about five times over the past month. Each time I am told by the agent that they "need to speak to their director" and that they will call me back. Each time they do not call me back, even days later. So I call again and each time am told the same thing. The last time I called, I was told they mailed a refund check without even giving me a call to notify me - for less than 1/3 of the correct amount and to the wrong address. read more

The Malfunction Indicator Lamp started flashing and the engine began shuddering while driving by on 84. We pulled over a few miles away and started calling local repair shops and dealers to see who could fix our '03 VW Jetta. Without fail, all told us to bring it in, they'd look on Monday. We were still 2.5 hours from home, so staying through Monday to fix our car wasn't an option. Charles answered at Monro and after listening to me describe the problem, he told me it was probably a failed coil pack, that a lot of Jettas have the issue, and that they could take care of it today. We asked if we needed to get a tow in and he told us that we could drive it in, just to do so slowly and with hazards on and there shouldn't be an issue. He was right on all accounts. We arrived at Monro and they were fast, courteous, and accommodating. They didn't mind us bringing our 9 week old puppy into the waiting area (as opposed to having us wait outside with him), kept us informed of what they were finding as they went over the car, and had us out of there within an hour of arriving. They run a professional shop and take care of the customers, what more can you ask for? read more

My car's rear wheels were making noise while riding so took in to them since it was holiday weekend and they were the only one open. They said it needs new caliper and took couple days to get one and installed, the noise was gone while driving but was still there while breaking and the tech said it will go away as you use breaks. After a couple week, noise was still there so took it to Honda Service and they said aftermarket caliper has a leakage which is the reason of all the problems, costed me triple the cost of what I paid these guys coz it ended up damaging break pads, required rotor resurface, break fluid and what not.. This is the first time I went to non honda service station and I wont be going ever again even if it means towing it. read more

Not pushy at all, just advising issues/solutions for your car. Easy to make appointment by phone. Waiting area is clean with TV and magazines. Makes the stay pleasant. Had the oil change here yesterday, WORST experience ever! First, very bad attitude, not friendly at all. Second, very expensive! Saw their street ad showing 29.99 oil change, but it finally ends at over $80 for oil change only. And today I find the engine oil is leaking to our garage floor!! So, they are not friendly and provide a very bad service with very expensive price. Definitely stay away from this Monro Auto Service!! I wish I could notice earlier that almost no customer there! Awful experience a worker left my brake fluid cap off my reservoir and I lost brake fluid. I returned to let them know to make sure their mechanics are careful because my pedal is now soft from it taking in air and the boss only came out to argue with me, blame it on something else, and tell me it doesn't matter. Then he made me a shoty offer that I had to pay for. I left and all that just for an oil change. I never told them to touch anything else. This place absolutely sucks. I wish I could give 0 stars. I really needed a morning appointment and I schedule one for 930 am on a Sunday. My weekly Schedule is so packed I need weekend appointments. I showed up a few minutes early and when I got to the front desk my reservation wasn't in the system. I asked if they could please get me in one way or another because I had specifically planned the day around it. They told me that this "happens all the time but there is nothing they can do". The guy at the desk could care less. I asked if they could please put me In for another time that day and he proceeded to tell me they were booked and I was basically out of luck. No other oil change places other than ones that charge over fifty dollars for a conventional oil change had any openings. Most other places of business would make it right but instead they let a customer walk out completely dissatisfied. The place is a joke. They could do my oil change for free and I s wouldn't go back. Update: So the customer service rep who claimed to want to discuss this mater further, according to her reply in here never returned call. We have been loyal customers with routine oil changes because it is so local. My husband dropped my car off because we knew there was a muffler issue with my car, long story short they told me my 2005 vehicle with under 100,000 miles needed $1,100 with of work for a muffler repair. I immediately said we will get a second option. The employee tried to give us another cheaper "quick fixes", which only made me doubt them more. I got the same repair for $125 at another shop and my car is running perfect. We will never return. read more

Again, take your car here at your own peril. 2 weeks and 500 miles after my last revew, the driver side brake is now squealing and completely worn. The other 3 brake pads still had more than 6mm left on them. All brake-pads were last replaced together and at previous oil changes (at a Honda dealership) had identical wear. Why then is only one of them now completely worn out? Ironically, they claimed to have inspected my brakes just 3 weeks ago. How did they then miss a worn out brake on inspection. They either lied or maliciously replaced one of my brakes with a worn out one. I lean towards the latter. I can't believe I finally found an honest mechanic...in another state! I currently live in Queens, NY but was on a business trip in Hartford, CT. I was looking for an auto service shop for a brake service late in the evening. I called Monroe Muffler in Vernon and asked if I can bring my car in. It was late and desperately needed my rear brakes repaired. They were nearing closing hours. Knowing my situation, I was asked to bring it by so my car can be serviced. I got there and was immediately attended to by Bill. Needless to say, he and another mechanic immediately began the repair(s). I felt bad because the job dipped into after hours but the job was done! They were so professional and very friendly. Bill said he used to stay longer servicing cars when he lived in Virginia Beach and knew exactly what I was going through. I couldn't thank them enough for helping me out as I was prepared to travel back to NY the next day. I can't even find that level of service in NY (damn shame).
