Don't eat here. I had chicken tikka masala door dash to my job on my lunch break. When it arrived not only was if the wrong order it was not chicken and it had bone in it. I called and they told me the order was correct. Well as I started eating I noticed it was NOT chicken and it had bone in it. I went down to the establishment and had to literally argue my case on there being a bone. There are much better reputable Indian places to eat at. Go elsewhere. read more

I have visited this location quite a few times in the past few years and I think it is time for an updated review. First, I love the location of this place in the updated (is it still updated or is it just what it is now?) Peninsula Town Center shopping area. It is nestled into the back left corner and has street parking right in front or a convenient parking lot just behind it from Hartford Road. The inside is clean with a nice bar, plenty of seating in booths and large tables, and has some cool decor (like the waterfall element by the kitchen). The service has always been pretty excellent here and the food is out pretty quickly - like within 10-15 minutes normally. I've tried to following starters: -Lasooni Gobi - Crispy Cauliflower Florets / Chili Flakes / Garlic- Tomato Chutney. DELICIOUS. I love fried cauliflower and this has just a little spice with a delicious sauce. -Koliwada Scallops - A Recipe From A Fishing Village Near Mumbai / Jumbo Scallops / Garlic Ginger / Onions / Mint Chutney. These are very good and if it's just you this is enough for a small meal with a salad. -Pakora Paneer Fritters - like breaded cheese but Indian style. REALLY good. Light and delicious. I've had both the house and the cucumber salads and both are a large and generous portion size loaded with fresh ingredients: -House Salad - Assorted Greens / Tomatoes / Onions / Carrots / Bell Peppers / Choice Of Dressing -Cucumber Salad - Cucumbers / Tomatoes / Onions / Tangy / Spices I also like the Roasted Papad as a entree accompaniment - Thin & Crispy Lentil Wafers that are like really thin chips. My current favorite entree is the Chicken Awadhi Korma - Cashew & Almonds Sauce / Onions / Cream / Raisins / Cranberries. It is so rich and delicious - I love it and the raisins and cranberries adds a sweet flavor when you get one in a bite with rice and chicken. Nom nom nom. Their Tikka Masala is pretty good as well. And my friend always orders the same vegetarian thing which I've tried a few times - I believe it's the (Vegan) Mushroom & Broccoli Krahi - Mushrooms / Broccoli / Ginger / Tomatoes / Onions / Bell Peppers / Spices. If so, it's really good and light with a ton of veggies. Their vegetable options are enormous and they all sound really good - I just want chicken every time I go - I will start trying the other things eventually though. Everything that encompasses an evening out with my boyfriend, Monsoon is it! G was our waiter, he diligently ensured we were served the best they had. Lamb Tikka, mixed grill, cauliflower & ginger soup, tomato soup and the best meat samosas we have ever had. Garlic naan was truly amazing! The Flying Dog lager is delicious, all of their beer is lager but one, will update. Have to say, next time I'm going to order another tomato soup and the fish tikka because they use salmon, it was in the mixed grill dish. We will definitely be back and hope that we try other things on the menu too. We love Indian food and have eaten a lot of it over the years. This place however is very different from the norm. Low lighting, modern fixtures, very spacious and a great bar area. Food is good but even medium spice was pretty hot ... beware of the chilli garlic naan - that thing should have a warning on it! Super spicy! It's been a long time since I've been unable to eat something in an Indian restaurant but this had me beat. Chicken tikka masala was tasty but not as tender as some I've had. Chicken korma was more tender. All in all a great find and we'll definitely eat here again. read more

Wow. Ate here for the first time. Excellent fresh and flavorful food. Always hot and made with just the exact amount of spices you desire. I had the Blue Crab Tikki Masala and it was to die for. Well based on my past visits and reviews it goes without saying how I feel about this place. Service is always top notch, especially elderly gentlemen that seems to serve us on each visit. Always kind, humble and takes a sense of pride in the food and Indian culture. I watched him prepare my vodka martini, he took his time and treat each ingredient with care. He brought it to me and waited for me to taste. I told him it was amazing. He smiled and took the rest of our order. Wife and I had the Mixed Grill, I notice the portions were disproportionate. My wife had more than I. Also had some tandoori wings as an appetizer with a cilantro dipping sauce. They were amazing! About $70 later with tip, wife and I were satisfied! Flavor explosion! I love this restaurant and I'm so happy it's close to where I live. I have been here a few times and they never disappoint. Most recently I got the Malai Chicken Tikka, which is served on a hot plate and it's on fire when they bring it to you. The chicken is so juicy and flavorful. The give you endless amounts of rice. The garlic naan is a MUST try. They have Indian beers as well. The portions are so big you will definitely be getting a to go box. This place is simply amazing. The food taste exquisite and fresh. I love Indian food so this was definitely a welcomed addition tip my food belt. I got the seabass vindaloo which melted in my mouth, the eggplant bharta had the exact amount of necessary herbs and spices. The samosa taste crispy and flaky on the outside and delighted my tongue with peas and potatoes on the inside. Overall the atmosphere inside was modern and clean. Decided to check out this restaurant due to Hampton Restaurant Week. It was busy as expected and the host let us know upon walking in that they were busy and it would take longer than expected for food to come out. While not ideal, I appreciated that communication. I decided to remain and ordered a drink while waiting for food. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and it was delicious. Staff is very friendly and checked in with us often. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:20pm with ample time to enjoy dinner before our 8:00pm show. Ordered dinner by 6:25pm. At 7:10pm, we were told that our food would be another 10-20 minutes. I asked for the reason for the delay since there weren't very many diners in the restaurant and was told that they prioritize take out orders. Our food arrived at 7:15pm with take out containers, since we barely had time to eat much before we needed to leave to make the show. The manager apologized for the delay and brought the check. No discount, fully charged for the appetizer, no incentive to return at all. Don't eat here. Order take out...you'll get your food in a reasonable amount of time, although you won't be able to enjoy watching the colored glass fountain. read more

Went here on a whim when we were looking for a place to eat and we remembered our last visit and figured we'd give it a try again. We are so glad we did. The food here still remains top notch in our books. We love Indian food and quality is a big deal to us. I still wasn't disappointed with the presentation of my food and the selection really does stay true to the idea of "eclectic" Indian food. Their twist on Indian food is just enough to make it stand out in a positive light. The only weird thing to me was the service. I watched a server go around and ask people if they were ready to order promptly before giving water, introduction, etc. Felt a little rash but I see it as a culture difference. the location is great and I really wanted to like it but was worried when the Uber driver warned my friends and I about the service. it wasn't that busy and me and my 5 friends had to be asked to be seated after 10 minutes, after sitting for another 10 minutes we asked if we could order something to drink. this continues on and gets worse. once we ordered our drinks we ordered our food at the same time and it took 30 minutes minutes to come out, which is not a big deal. I clearly ordered chicken Marsala and not salmon but the lady wanted to argue with me and kept trying to to tell me that's why I ordered. another 30 minutes to get the right order and it took 30 minutes to get our bill. Monsoon Eclectic Modern Indian located in PTC had been on my list for a long time try out mainly because of the pictures and reviews by my fellow Yelpers. Love this Site/App and how much it has helped me out with making choices over the years. Anyway prior to this review we have been to Monsoon twice to eat in and once for take out. The basmati rice and the naan bread alone makes me want to come back again and again. I love Indian food and this place really hits the spot and my taste buds every time. Starting off with the Tandoori Chicken Wings which are amazing as a appetizer was a good choice for us. That along with the Bread Basket should have been enough, but we had to have more. By the way I am combining all of my visits into this one review. Anything from the Lamb Tikka Masala, Palak Chicken, Butter Chicken, and the Old Delhi Style Chicken Tikka Masala are all good choices. Monsoon itself is cool, romantic and a more upscale look for a Indian restaurant and a welcomed choice for the Peninsula area and I give them 4 star recommendations. Price may be really the only thing keeping them from 5 stars. Staff is nice and service is quick. They also have a nice bar area as well. read more

I've been going to Monsoon since it opened a few years ago. I have to say the food is delicious. I usually get the black pepper tikka and over the years can say I haven't had a bad meal here yet. The setting is comfortable and modern and the portions are always enough for two meals if you want to split a meal or take home left overs. I'll talk specifically about lunch. They do not have a buffet like many Indian restaurants but they do have a great lunch menu. Appetizer, naan, entree and it's more than filling. Monsoon Will always be one of the best Indian spots that I have ever tried. The staff and the service is amazing beyond compared they really take care of you the scenery is beautiful and they always meet my needs. The food and all of the spices and textures and options just blows my mind away and it makes me remember why I love Indian food. I am always one for trying new places in new foods so trying this for the first time two years ago made me fall in love with Indian food and I still have not had anything better. I currently live in Florida but I always come back to Virginia for the food because I still have not found a really good Indian spot in Florida and to be honest I don't think I will. I can say that Miami has a lot of good at Ethnic in foods but I am not sure if I will find a good Indian spot there so it's good that I can come here and know that they will always exceed my expectations. read more

There were 7 of us and we were only given 2 small bowls to start. We had to ask " beg" for more rice a few times before getting enough for each of us. We had the opportunity to visit this location last night. We had been wanting to try for many years, as we frequent Saffron in Va Beach. it was unfortunate that it was not a great experience for us. They only had 2 servers on for the entire restaurant, for a Saturday pm. Our drinks took over 30 mins, our apps took almost and hour and our entrees even longer. Our entrees were served in stages without all the accompaniments, leaving our dishes cold waiting on the rest . I gave them a 3 because our actual food was good, however because of the extensive wait times and lack of service, we will not be returning.Maybe a different time of day has a better experience.
