For mains, my friend ordered the elk burger, and as a self-proclaimed elk burger connoisseur, her approval means something -- she thoroughly enjoyed it. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, which was good and flavorful, and paired really well with their pepper & cabbage coleslaw on the side. We also split a cup of the roasted red pepper and tomato bisque, which was honestly a highlight of the whole meal -- rich, well-balanced, and worth ordering on its own. Drinks deserve a shoutout too: their non-alcoholic options were great. My friend raved about the guava lemonade, and I had the blueberry vinegar shrub, which was excellent -- bright, crisp, and refreshing.

Close enough to PDX hotels to Uber. The food was spectacular. The salads are huge. The ribs looked amazing. The lamb meatloaf was extremely tasty and the chicken pesto fettuccine was able to be made without fettuccine for me with just extra veggies and it was stellar. They did not even balk at substituting the extra veggies.. the swordfish special with the mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus was awesome. Everything was cooked to perfection and our waiter. Torben was the highlight. He had a wonderful, can-do attitude, very accommodating and extremely friendly. He really treated us amazing and his workplace as though restaurant was his taking pride in his job. The desserts that walked by our table made me wish I had only shared a meal with someone. Everything looked incredible. This needs to be put on your top five to try list.

When a friend invited my sister and I to go, I whipped out my trusty yelp app and checked out ratings and menu. The menu looked fine-mostly traditional American style, featuring their turkey dinner and Spanish coffee. I wasn't that keen on turkey in August, but our friend ordered it and was pleased. My sister and I have pretty much the same taste and usually like the same things on the menu! We decided to split 2 entrees-the chicken special of the day and beef stroganoff. The first thing Summer, our server brought out was their beer bread. We wish we had the recipe. I loved it so much I'd like to make it at home. Then we got our entrees. The kitchen kindly split our orders so we each got 2 plates! It was a LOT of food! And we loved both! We couldn't decide which one we liked better! I can't remember what the chicken special was called but it had cherry tomatoes lightly sautéed in it and a flavorful sauce. Our friend wanted chocolate mousse for dessert , and we couldn't just sit there and watch her eat it so we ordered our own (no sharing this time!). It's dark and very rich. She also wanted to try Spanish coffee. They put on quite a show. They pour triple sec in the bottom, set it on fire and it melts the sugar they put on the rim. In goes rum & kaluah, and finally a little coffee and some whipped cream on top. We all tried it and WOW! It's potent! If that's your thing you need to get it! Three sips was more than enough for me. Summer was an outstanding server. She talked to us like we were old friends, made suggestions and was just lovely in every way. Go to Huber's! It's really fun, delicious and the roomtakes you back to yesteryear.

My co-worker mentioned wanting some "creole, southern cooking" so I did some more Yelp'ing of course, revealing yet another bookmark, Screen Door! Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on Couch St. in the Pearl District is this gem. The outside isn't much to look at, it's straightforward and modern. The restaurant is set on the corner and is adorned with yellow touches with a decent-sized outdoor section. Once inside it feels like a nice old-school mansion set right out of the bayous of New Orleans. Lots of low yellow lighting, woods and bright tiles decorate the bar as well as the seating areas. It's one big open seating area with the bar off to the right. I loved the open concept. It was busy, but wasn't terribly loud. I also LOVED how this place loudly and proudly welcomed LGBTQ+ community with a rainbow of balloons as well as artwork! Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but we had no issues here whatsoever. Food: The drinks were strong, colorful and delightful. Being based on southern cooking I had to try the classing New Orleans Hurricane and Sazerac! The Hurricane was huge, delicious and of course, strong. The Sazerac was practically perfect. First up I checked out the Hush Puppies which are cornmeal fritters w/ pepper jelly. These were delicious, hot, fresh and the pepper jelly had an EXCELLENT spice to it! Next up were the Crispy Fried Oysters which are cooked then crusted with cornmeal, bacon, other seasonings and served with toast points. These were delicious and literally made me forget I was eating oysters. Next up I tried the fried chicken that came with buttermilk-battered, crispy fried boneless chicken breast & thigh w/ buttery mashed potatoes, tasso ham gravy and collard greens. Absolutely fantastic. Chicken was crispy, juicy, tender and well-seasoned. The mashed potatoes were also moist and left my mouth watering after each bite. Collard greens were fresh and everything I wanted them to be. I also got the chance to try the Chicken & Waffles which comes with 1, 2 or 3 pieces of chicken depending on how hungry you are, a sweet potato waffle and of course syrup while everything is dusted with powdered sugar. Fantastic. The savory and the sweet just balanced themselves so well. My co-worked also let me try his macaroni & cheese which was damn good. Baked so it had that layer of crispy cheese across the top and was so cheesy, so gooey underneath. Value: Macaroni & Cheese Side = $7.00 Don't Tell Me What to Do! (Drink) = $13.00 Original Sazerac (Drink) = $15.00 Baked Oysters = $12.00 Chicken & Waffles (3-Pieces) = $29.00 Fried Chicken Dinner = $27.00 It's not fine-dining pricing, but it's not cheap either. The food and the ambiance are absolutely worth the price point. The quality speaks for itself. In conclusion, I LOVED it here at Screen Door. It's worthy of its great rating, stellar reputation and pricing. I am excited to pay this place a visit again in the future when I make it back here.

An entire multi-page menu of herbal teas that includes historical information about how the different ingredients had been used by indigenous populations? Yes please! After wanting to visit Javelina for a long time I finally got the opportunity to a couple weeks ago. SO GOOD! I got the bison chili, some fry bread (of course! ), the three sisters salad, and some tea. The chili was SUPERB, and the fry bread was the perfect dipping accompaniment to it. The three sisters salad had such a good flavor balance, with the squash giving a perfect hint of sweetness against the other ingredients. I love herbal teas (my mom grew her own herbs and would make all different ones for us growing up), so it was such a delight to see the huge variety of in-house-made herbal teas available. I forget the name of the one I ended up picking (I think it was something like three tribes). It was great and exactly what I was looking for). The ambience in the restaurant has a lovely simplicity that feels like it suits it perfectly. I can't wait to come back and try their brunch some time. Oh, and before I forget, the service was on-point. Everyone being lovely and accommodating.

Their muscles are OUT OF THIS WORLD. Truly, the best I've ever had. This beats living in the southeast on the coast, any west-coast seafood restaurant, and every place I've ever enjoyed in Italy. They've certainly topped the muscle game. Highly recommend Olympic Provisions. I will gladly vouch that the negative reviews are from the haters, just to hate. The overall experience has never been anything less than fantastic. Photos to follow (hopefully, if I can find them! HA!) Enjoy OP next time you're in PDX!
