A casual hole-in-the-wall spot serving sandwiches, soups, and wraps. They're very efficient during lunch hours. Inside has minimal seatings so people mostly do to-go orders but it's very clean and casual. Staffs were hardworking and fast. Prices were good for what you get. My Garden Turkey Wrap was stuffed to the brim. One wrap could be split into two meals. Turkey was moist, crisp veggies, and nicely sauced. Definitely a good quick lunch spot. read more

The definition of "meh": not bad, not great, just a no frills place to satisfy your hunger at a reasonable price. The interior matches the drab, concrete vibe of this section of Downtown. You'd be hard pressed to find a less expensive breakfast burrito. But they use boring dark cheddar, there's no sauce or veggie of any kind, and the ungrilled tortilla tastes like it's straight from Cash and Carry. Would I order it again? Yes, at that price. Moderately friendly owner; some of the local office building regulars seem to like him. Try the Cuban place across the street for some variety. read more

Solid no frills lunch spot in a pretty barren area of downtown that's perfect for office workers and jurors nearby looking for a cheap quick bite to eat. Breakfast burritos are a really good value and I like their beef taco salad. It makes me feel nostalgic for taco salads from the 90s...sadly theirs just comes with chips and not a taco salad bowl like the ones in the 90s. The food comes out lightning quick and is much faster than anywhere nearby if you're in a time crunch. read more

Cute little quick grab and go or small dine in area tucked under a parking garage. Excellent place for a quick and hot lunch. Many options (lots of Turkey), and Korean food too. Got a sandwich and soup today as I'm on jury duty and it really hit the spot. Homemade everything and maybe the best Turkey this side of Hubers, speaking of Hubers, are they still a thing, I hope so. Small family, run sandwich, shop, and diner That serves breakfast. Clean nice, but the big feature is hidden behind- a kitchen that really crafts each dish carefully and with pride. Are turkeys big chickens or small ostriches? That is what I want to know! Fortunately our first arrivers to the Americas figured out they are good eating! Just a note, ostrich is very tasty, more like beef tenderloin than chicken. Turkey-centered restaurants range from the famous Fry's Turkey Ranch https://www.yelp.com/biz/fry-brothers-turkey-ranch-trout-run-2 to one or two left from Portland's pre-foodie era. The Turkey Place is in the ground floor retail space of the City motor pool garage. It goes for functional over fancy, and taste over trends, you are not going to find food towers, or sauce squiggles. The price is very reasonable. I had the turkey meal. It was sized right. The star is the gravy. It is very tasty. This is a small family-run restaurant for eat-in or carry-out I'm glad to support in our time of vacant office buildings downtown. Did I say tasty? My family and I visited from out of state and this place was the closest to our hotel. We got the breakfast croissant and added bacon or sausage and they were delicious. The prices are better than anything else around. There's a lot of regulars and the workers knows their orders by heart. And I see that people stop by before work, or court etc. The workers are so nice and don't make you feel rushed at all. I recommend 100%. read more

I've visited the Turkey Place off and on for many, many years. They are a real institution. Affordable prices, quick and friendly service, and decent food quality for a regular lunch. I think that years ago, they called themselves "Coffee Bento Bistro" or something similar. But, the owner got into the habit of cooking a full turkey every day, and the regulars caught on that the best food items were based on that (bento over rice, wraps, salads, etc). My career has sort of revolved around the Turkey Place -- my first professional job (while in college at PSU) was at the Police Bureau adjacent; Nearly all of the MCSO and PPB staff visit Turkey Place regularly. Then I spent a few years working at Umpqua Bank (also adjacent), where I got into the habit of ordering a turkey caesar salad (I think the best thing on the menu). I no longer work in the neighborhood, but whenever I'm downtown I enjoy seeing that they are still open. I was able to stop by yesterday (serving jury duty, down the road), and the same owner continued to provide a great turkey caesar. read more

Great spot for a quick grab and go, or even a dine in situation. Theres about four to five tables indoors and more outside. It has many of the sandwiches you would expect, what surprised me were some of the Korean options! Very clean space and very friendly staff. I was in the mood for a hot sandwich so I ordered a reuben. Flavor was definitely packed in the sandwich. I would have preferred a more special/different type of bread but it was regular sandwich loaf bread. Size of sandwich was also on the smaller size. To my surprise though the order came with a small bag of chips! Definitely will come back to try a different sandwich next time! Super great lunch spot if you're working downtown or near the court house. It's fast and owned by a nice older couple. They have a large variety of food. I did the bulgogi spicy beef bowl. Definitely comforting and hits the spot. They have a lot of soup and sandwich options with pastries and grab and go drinks. Hit this place up to support local small businesses in the downtown area. I visited Portland and was tired of paying $20 for the tiny underwhelming omelette at the hotel so decided to give this independently owned and family run restaurant at the base of the parking garage across from the hotel a try. I'm glad I did! The omelette choice included fresh sautéed vegetables ($9), with the option for sausage or bacon or ham for just $1 more. Sadly, I was so hungry I failed to take a picture of it but can recommend it without reservation. in addition, the husband (who takes the order and runs the register) and the wife (who is sous chef) or delightful and very nice. If you're looking for a fresh, delicious breakfast option in the downtown Portland area I would strongly recommend this restaurant. I have not had the opportunity to try, but they offer turkey breast sandwiches - with or without stuffing to accompany the cranberry - but I understand they are knock out as well. read more

I just moved to Portland 3 weeks ago and I was looking for a deli place to try because I was craving a sandwich and boom I found this place and it was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC I personally get the BLTA w no mayo and it always comes out SPOT ON !!! I discovered this deli about a month ago and have been going daily for my lunch. Everything they offer is the best I have ever had. I had the yellow curry today. Again, am sold on that lunch. I'm so glad that I found Turkey Place as a result of craving Thanksgiving food after the holiday. While reviewers on here generally like Turkey Place, I was still a tad skeptical due to their name (let's be honest) and overall unassuming nature and location of the deli. I chose to get a turkey plate ($9.50 or so), which came with dark meat turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing with walnuts, cranberry sauce, and a warm dinner roll. I was so, so impressed. First off, the portion was quite good. I was starving and still had enough leftovers to bring home for a snack. The turkey was so moist. My gripe is that turkey on Thanksgiving is often dry and bland. However, this turkey was different. It was flavorful and tender. It also helped that there was a bunch of gravy poured over my plate. Turkey is such a holiday oriented food in my mind, and I'm ecstatic that I'll be able to get my turkey fix year round at a deli that roasts their own turkey in house, everyday. Unreal. It's also interesting that this is a deli with regular sandwiches, salads, soups, and even Korean and Japanese BBQ! I'm a huge advocate for Farmhouse Cafe in this area of downtown, but Turkey Place might take that #1 spot once I try out more of Turkey Place's menu. One thing to note - there is a credit card fee of 40-ish cents if you spend less than $10. I bought a bag of chips to have my money going to something I'll eat rather than the fee. read more

Turkey noodle soup was delicious and just perfect amount of seasoning and medley of flavor. A small place but definitely a hidden gem! Friendly and efficient staff. Pro tip: street parking around isn't readily available due to police-only marked area but you can park in the garage for free up to 15minutes-perfect when picking up a to-go order! I'll definitely go back again...maybe next time I'll try their daily special bento. read more

So even the cheapest option, which is a whole size sandwich, is an extra $6 per order. So you're $18.95 "BOGO" turns into a $30.95 not-BOGO. There is NO OPTION to just add the base level size, whatever the fugg that even is. And the sizes are listed precisely nowhere. Just "whole," "tall giant," and "long giant." HUH!? Why make the price of a sandwich $18.95 when your customers couldn't even order this fictional mystery size if they wanted to?!? SCAM

Because the food was so damn good. Look - I'm going to start off by saying I grew up practically on The Hill. Out here, you'll have to Google it (make sure to add 'RI' to the search or you'll get some political BS), but back east, "alls you's have ta say" was those two words and anyone would know you knew your Italian, food and otherwise. There isn't anything on this coast that vaguely compares to The Hill's food, but walking into and biting out of Geraldi's was having a little piece of home. There's this little shop in the old town where the owner knew your voice when you called to order... you'd walk in, and you heard "hey cousin!" whether you were or not, and that's the vibe you get from Geraldi's. The food is much the same - you get something that looks like Nonna was at the range all day with her sauce (it's not gravy - no meat) and you came home looking like you haven't eaten in weeks: "I'm gonna fatten you up before you leave" and you walked out the door with a sub (sandwich, that is - not a submarine) that weighed the same as a newborn. We got three of those babies: a Chicago Beef (seal of approval from the orderer - only 'complaint' was that they had to eat it all in one day because the bread was quote too soggy to make it to lunch the next day - travesty), an Italian sausage (just as delicious when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and a Chicken Parmeroni (I thought somehow even better when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and I could have absolutely gone back the next day if it weren't for A. the leftovers 2/3 of us had and B. the meal planning we'd done for the week. I also grabbed a side of giardiniera because I will get it anytime I see it available and I inhaled it - I need to know if I can by it by the vat instead of the side cups because it too was similar to what I can find at home (about practically nowhere out here) and amazing!! I'm still upset I didn't take pictures though!

My birthday falls around the holidays so I usually can't make it in, but I want to be clear that I have absolutely zero complaints about that. A friend of mine recommended Pip's for their bite sized donuts and chai. We came at a right time by waking up early enough to beat the crowd. Service was pretty solid here and the menu is easy to read. Upon seating, they made a whoopsie by giving me a heated chai, but I can overlook that since they gave us an extra donut :) We got brownie butter, cinnamon sugar, and raw honey + salt to share. I got the King and I (made dirty) for my own because I love pandan. They put a lot of care into their product and it definitely shows. Chai was spectacular and donuts were delicious. I'm returning!
