We had a wonderful stay at the Montage! The property is beautiful, and our room had an ocean view. The beds were super comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We especially loved the complimentary car service, it was a plus. The only thing I'd mention is that the shower felt a bit small, and while the live music by the pool was a nice touch, it felt more like dinner music than pool music. It would have been nice if they mixed up the music throughout the day to create a more upbeat pool atmosphere. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and we would definitely stay again! read more

May I say this spot has the most STUNNING views! (see pics) My ex and I used to come here for sunset dates (yes, he set the bar high LOL) and the views from the front of Montage Laguna Beach are unreal. The moment you walk in, your breath is basically gone...YUP endless ocean views and pure luxurious vibes. The property itself is gorgeous. Just imagine marble bathrooms, dreamy balconies, a wedding destination fantasy come true with top-notch everything. The staff made us feel welcome and like royalty. It can get busy (especially during brunch), but still we were able to enjoy our time. The atmosphere makes up for any drawbacks. There's plenty of sightseeing and across PCH there are great restaurants and easy public access to beaches across the hotel path. Only downside? Some clientele may seem pretentious. Big money may equal to big head LOL. It can get pricey, but honestly worth every penny. If your budget allows, just do it. You will fall in love! 4.5 STARS!! read more

We stayed at the Montage Laguna Beach for a conference by husband attended. The Montage is now one of my favorite place, tied for 1st place for most beautiful, and favorite places to stay. Everything is beautiful. From the moment you walk in the door your breath is taken away by the stunning ocean views. All the staff is over the top friendly and we felt spoiled by everyone. The rooms are gorgeous, with marble floors, marble bathroom, stunning balcony views, and the most comfortable bedding. Everything in the room is top notch and so beautiful. A couple highlights for me were: 1. Spending time by the pool, which also had incredible ocean views, and super friendly staff. The pool is heated so even though it was only high 60's, I was still able to get in for a swim. 2. I asked the front desk for trails I could run and was given a QR code that directed me to a list of mapped out runs I could do from the hotel. Each run was guided, just like on Google maps, and gave you queues along the way for how far I had run. I thought this was such a cool feature. 3. After my run I went to the gym, which again, has stunning ocean views. The gym was clean and had everything I needed. I wish I had known they had a lap pool because I would have brought a suit. So if you're a swimmer, bring your gear! I would say the only downside is that with all the beauty, and excellent service, comes a price. Everything is very expensive. I had forgotten sandles so I looked in the store and flip flops were $75, a sweatshirt in the spa was $200, 4 drinks at the bar was over $200... it's pricey. If you ever get a chance to come stay at the Montage Laguna Beach, do it. It's worth every penny and I believe you will also fall in love with it! read more

My husband, daughter and I met my sister and her kids for lunch for Easter and our brother too. This hotel will always be my favorite in Laguna beach. The employee's are all so friendly and everything about this hotel is absolutely stunning and beautiful. The hotel rooms, the decor, the atmosphere being right near the beach what more could you want in a hotel! It's such a peaceful hotel. We got there a little early so we took a walk on the path and watched the waves and felt the incredibly beautiful beach breeze. I really needed to be near the water so I can feel even a little bit of peace. There are so many places to take photos. So many gorgeous flowers and scenery. Hearing the sounds of the waves crashing and getting lost in the sound is the most peaceful place on earth! It was pretty busy for Easter but we always come here for Easter. We had such a delicious wonderful brunch lunch together. Baby girl had fun with the Easter activities too and seeing her cousins. They had the most beautiful decorations surrounding the hotel I had to take pictures of the giant beautiful chocolate eggs and bunnies. After baby girl finished drawing we were walking to eat and my slippers broke while I was walking, so had to stop at the gift shop and got a pair of sandals there, the girls working were so nice and my new sandals are so comfortable and fuzzy I love them, thank you so much. The gift shop is so cute too, and I appreciate the really kind service. Thank you so much for the incredible friendly service and absolutely amazing food. My boyfriend and I stayed at Montage Laguna Beach for my birthday weekend and it was the perfect reset and relaxation. It was not very crowded so we really got to enjoy the calm and peaceful atmosphere. Our room was really nice and clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We both slept so well. We spent a lot of time walking around the grounds, enjoying the ocean views, and relaxing by the pool. The staff were amazing, extremely friendly and helpful without ever being intrusive, which made the stay feel even more special. On Saturday night they had a live singer and a guy playing piano in the lobby, which created such a lovely, relaxed vibe and made the evening feel really magical. My wife and I recently enjoyed a little staycation and "work-from-somewhere-else" getaway at the Montage Laguna Beach -- and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish. We stayed in an Ocean King Suite (1,200 sq. ft.) with the perfect view of the pool and ocean -- truly breathtaking. The entire staff was amazing throughout our stay. A special thank-you to Toni for the warm welcome and tour, and to the valet team -- Cullen, Hayden, Johnny, and James -- for their outstanding service every single day. We enjoyed spa treatments that were relaxing and flawless, room service that was top-notch, and the convenience of direct beach access made our morning and evening walks unforgettable. Montage has always been our favorite hotel to spend a little time on Christmas Day. The lobby is full of energy. Everyone is always so happy they've got amazing. Piano player decorations are popping. Signature we had and hot chocolate . The valet parking can be quite expensive however they do validate it's a small fraction of what it normally would be.. I'm a regular and I recommended all of my friends come to Studio for a birthday dinner because I heard good reviews about the food. However, our server Michael was terrible. We waited at least 35 minutes for our first round of drinks. Our entrees took over an hour and it didn't all come out at the same time. We ordered a Whole Chicken, and all our entrees and sides got cold waiting for the Whole Chicken to come out. When Michael checked on us 40 minutes after our food was dropped off, he asked "how is everything tasting." We told him to please just "take the Whole Chicken off the bill." He came around 5 minutes later and said "it's just going to be 8 minutes for the chicken." I told him no thank you, then a different server came around and said "I have a Half Chicken ready." I had to tell her that we no longer wanted it, so embarrassing having to tell her "no thanks" after already telling Michael we didn't want it anymore. They gave us a free round of drinks thankfully after forgetting my friend's previous drink order for over 30 minutes. Cami the chef turned our whole experience around, up to three stars from our one star experience. Her thoughtful birthday cake made our entire experience more pleasant for all of us. We were sat around 7 pm and ended up finishing dinner at 11 pm. Multiple tables around us were seated and had full course dinner and service before we got our last round of drinks. The food was good, but service wise- overall I would recommend Vea in Newport, Driftwood, The Deck, or any other nice restaurant with a view in Laguna beach. This review isn't mine -- it's my moms. But she's a boomer so... we all know why Im here. She wanted to write this herself, but we can all envision the fiasco of explaining how YELP works. So here I am. The Boomer whisperer. (Cue Heaven points raining down.) She stayed at Montage Laguna Beach, June 9-11, 2025, while helping my cousin (her nephew) by watching his 3-year-old daughter. He was at a CAA conference being important, and my mom was in the room doing heroic things like wrangling a toddler and still finding time to live her best life in a hotel that charges more per night than most people's rent. Let's get one thing straight: my mother is not easily impressed. She has survived civil rights, dial-up internet, and raising me. But the staff at this hotel? Had her positively giddy. She wouldn't stop talking about the housekeepers -- specifically Ricio and her team, who were described as angels in sneakers. Every day they greeted her like she was Royalty and made sure she and the tiny human she was babysitting had everything they needed. Towels? No problem. Extra bath products? Instantly. emotional support? Probably. Now, about those amenities. Bruuuuuhhhhhh She took ONE bath and transformed into a plush robe-wrapped goddess. She was all kinda brand new! I got pics of her LIVING!!! she fell in love with the loofa, the shower gel, the hand soap, the lotion. She also raved about the view. I saw the photos. And yeah, okay, for what that place cost for ONE NIGHT... the view better look like God's screensaver, And you know what? IT DID. no notes. My mom made sure to explore the grounds and walked down to the beach (which, was "basically RIGHT THERE," no hyperbole required). The property? Gorgeous. Manicured to the point of insanity. If it weren't for her enduring love for me, ida lost her to the streets and by streets i mean this hotel. Sheda changed her name to "Marjorie from Montage." And ida never seen her again. A few standout features: * The mosaic pool with infinity-edge views of the Pacific (because regular pools are lame). * The coastal architecture that looks like it was designed by rich monks * The art-lined walking paths * The spa (which she didn't get to try, but woulda loved to) All in all, my mom had a good time When Mom is happy, I'm happy. And Montage Laguna Beach, you made my mom really happy. So thank you to Ricio and the rest of the staff for treating her with kindness, warmth, and respect. I owe you. Five stars. Unfortunately, my first stay at Montage Laguna Beach will likely be my last. It was a disappointing experience overall, and I left without much confidence in the resort's standards. While I was there, I tried to give feedback to a manager, but was told they were busy and would call me later. More than two weeks have passed, and I have not heard from anyone. To begin with the positives, the cocktails at both the Lobby Bar and Mosaic were excellent. We also had genuinely good experiences with Sadie at the Lobby Bar and Kevin at Mosaic. If the rest of the stay had matched those interactions, this review would have been very different. Dinner at the Loft was underwhelming. The table bread ranged from soggy to overly hard. The shrimp were good, but the steak was overcooked to medium and was a poor cut, with gristle and less flavor than I would have expected. The tuna tartare was bland. The pasta was the strongest dish, though the meat was unevenly distributed in the sauce. The lava cake was very good, but I did not think the accompaniments complemented it well. Service was professional, but it conveyed little genuine warmth. Nothing was overtly wrong, yet the interaction felt so strained that we left feeling more like an imposition than welcome guests. Most concerning, both of us woke up during the night feeling nauseous and spent significant time in the bathroom after that meal. We did not risk another full meal at the resort until our last day, when we dined at Mosaic. The food there was much better: a great ceviche, a solid poke bowl, and an outstanding horchata crème brûlée that should not be missed. Most importantly, we both felt fine afterward. The service was also excellent. As we left, we found ourselves wishing that our experience there had been the standard throughout the stay. The room had some strengths: the bathroom was well designed, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the view from the balcony was gorgeous. However, the cleanliness and maintenance were not at the level I would expect from a luxury resort. There was dust and human hair on the shower threshold, the TV was visibly dirty, and the throw blanket was stained. A bathroom floor tile was broken badly enough that I stopped to check whether it posed a hazard. The trim around the bathroom door was rotten and poorly patched, and there were paint splatters on the floor. Much of the furniture also felt surprisingly flimsy for a luxury resort. Maintenance issues appeared elsewhere on the property as well. Chairs in the Lobby Bar were so wobbly that I initially hesitated to sit in them. Weather stripping was coming off the lobby balcony door. Paint had been slopped onto the glass tops of the balcony tables. In the gym, the handle to the large sliding glass door came off in my hand. By the second day, I had the impression of a property that was being kept presentable only at a surface level. When our TV malfunctioned on the second night, I was genuinely surprised that engineering was able to get it working. Service was inconsistent. On the positive side, in addition to the staff members already mentioned, James in engineering, the managers Robert and Vincent, and Jayson at Mosaic were all helpful. Christy at the concierge desk was warm and genuinely helpful, and Debbie was also pleasant and sincere when I approached her with a question during our stay. However, many of our other interactions, especially at reception and with the concierge, were courteous in form but cold in effect, and left us feeling more tolerated than welcomed. Those negative experiences were persistent enough to shape the tone of the stay. The concierge experience was especially poor. It took nearly 24 hours to return my initial call. When I followed up, I was routed into an AI-generated email exchange. One message even ended with the line, "If you'd like this formatted in a more formal concierge style... I'm happy to put that together." A follow-up email contained factual claims paired with links that did not support them, strongly suggesting that AI-generated output had been sent without basic verification. Yet the correspondence was signed as though it had been personally written by the concierge. That was not the level of service I expected from a property of this caliber. Overall, my stay at Montage Laguna Beach was deeply disappointing. There were a few standout employees and some good cocktails, but they were outweighed by the weak dining experience, cleanliness and maintenance issues, inconsistent service, and poor follow-through on guest feedback. I hope the resort improves, because in its current state it did not feel like a luxury experience. read more

My Honest Review of Montage Laguna Beach from 2003-2025 You know how sometimes it takes a while to know what you want to say and how to say it? Well, after I processed everything, this is my honest review of Montage Laguna Beach. I've been a loyal patron of Montage Laguna Beach since it opened in 2003. Pros: I've been coming to Spa Montage since it opened in 2003. I'm so grateful to Spa Montage for over two decades of being my exclusive destination (up until 2024) for a moment of rest and renewal. I'm so grateful to Spa Montage for being a part of my journey. (Love and Gratitude to everyone who works at Montage Laguna Beach, who made every visit (since 2003) a perfect day!) Thank you for always being there to ensure that each visit is as special as the last! I always had a perfect day! You'd be hard pressed to find a jewel like Spa Montage Laguna Beach in SoCal or anywhere in the world. They have gorgeous spa facilities both indoor and outdoor. The indoor facilities have a World Class whirlpool, sauna, steam room, and cold plunge. I believe these facilities to be the best in the world. Same with the outdoor spa facilities. Spectacular ocean views from the spa pool, where you can lounge all day. Cons: I've noticed that under new ownership, the quality of Montage LB is not the same. Both in 2024 and 2025, I've noticed the quality of the food has been downgraded. You can definitely get better food elsewhere in the OC, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. I also noticed when we stayed last summer 2024, for my Mom's 90th Birthday, that the quality of the hotel's Front Desk was definitely not what we experienced on all our previous vacations at Montage LB. Even though I have been a loyal patron since 2003, and it was my Mother's 90th Birthday, Montage LB's Front Desk made no effort to have our rooms ready on arrival. Just the whole way it was handled. We will never stay at Montage LB again. I'm not spending $10-20 K for a hit or miss vacation. Montage LB had always been my exclusive luxury destination since 2003. These poor experiences at Montage LB/especially from the hotel's Front Desk, forced me to open my eyes and consider other wonderful luxury destinations that get it right every time. To be honest, our Summer 2024 Trip for my Mom's 90th Birthday, left me feeling that Montage LB does not appreciate our business, or my loyalty...and what made Montage LB so special once upon a time, was what Alan Fuerstman said in Forbes Magazine, "So we embedded that into the ethos of how we would deliver service. Much less scripted, highly personalized, and with a clear focus on creating memories and experiences that would bond our guest with our hotels." That's exactly what I was hoping to create for my Mother on her 90th Birthday. This is not the place to celebrate someone's 90th Birthday. read more

Businesses were really suffering as a result of the overly severe restrictions so we were able to stay here for half the cost. Laguna beach is such a beautiful place and the views here did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and I loved our room. It was spacious, well appointed and the beds were so comfortable. The coffee in the morning was absolutely delicious, too. I don't know if I'd stay here if it wasn't for the 50% off but I with the discount it was worth it. I came to Montage Laguna Beach excited to share the resort with my partner, only to leave in tears. Shortly after arriving, a security guard named Kevin followed us, asked if we were staying the night, and when I said not yet, he told us to leave. I was stunned this is a public space, and I was considering a room. He insulted me, implying I couldn't afford to stay. He even said the least I should have done was buy a drink, told me to 'keep moving,' and never come back. When I said I was from Irvine and visit often, he scoffed, saying 'yeah, right.' He mocked me further, saying I could check his bank account and bet he makes more money. It was completely inappropriate for him to compare finances and imply I couldn't afford it no guest should be subjected to such personal remarks. I expect management to seriously address this no visitor should be treated with such disrespect! read more

As a local who's been coming here for years I'm frustrated by my resent visit. Had a pedicure and strip mall stores are better than montage. No gel and over priced for what you receive. $15 parking now for spa even tho we spent over 2k for that day in massages, food and merch. Crazy. With remarkable panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean Montage Laguna Beach is an oasis of luxury. We had a board meeting with TxO here for three days so it is a real treat. A relaxing escape, with a great fitness center and a beautiful mosaic pool. The service has been very attentive and super friendly. This is definitely a special heavenly place in Laguna Beach. The breakfast food was unfortunately below Montage standard. The egg Benedict was overcooked and sticky. My everything bagel was unfortunately burn. It was disappointing and overpriced. The Montage in Sanima county offers a much better cuisine. We had several meals here including in the new studio restaurant. And overall there is room for improvement. My steak was overcooked no medium rare during our second evening diner. The staff brought me another one that was slightly better prepared. Very good presentation and platting. The food at Studio also needs some attention. My sole with a lemon sauce was way too acidic. So, overall a beautiful destination but there is room for improvement on the food side. read more

Montage Laguna Beach has always been one of my favorite places to relax in Laguna. I love coming here just to sit in the lobby, enjoy the ocean view, and listen to the live pianist -- Steve is incredible and truly adds to the experience. The lobby is a great spot to grab a cocktail or dessert. I highly recommend the hazelnut dessert and the lava cake -- both are delicious. On my last visit, though, I tried the panna cotta and wasn't impressed. They also brought me the wrong tea (black instead of tropical), and since I'm caffeine-intolerant, that wasn't a small mistake. Unfortunately, it wasn't taken off the bill, and the service felt a bit off that day. I've also had lunch and dinner at The Loft. Lunch was great, but dinner involved a bit of an unnecessary wait for a table -- even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Also, just a heads up: they're currently doing construction near the pool area. The pool is closed for now, and it was noisy enough that we couldn't sit on the terrace, which was disappointing. It looks like it may take another month or so to finish, so keep that in mind if you're planning to visit soon. All that said, Montage is still a beautiful spot with a peaceful atmosphere -- just hoping things get back to their usual standard soon. read more

I knew this hotel/spa would be expensive so i planned to have high expectations because of it. The food by poolside was AMAZING and fresh! The decor when you walk in the hotel is beautiful, you feel like you're in a magazine! The service and staff were very professional and friendly. The spa was excellent and very relaxing! Overall great day to spend for a spa day! read more
