Delicious Ahi Tuna appetizer!
Anja G.

It is all in the details!! (Emailed sent To Management - no reply) My family and I have been coming to your restaurant since the opening. We have enjoyed the food and ambiance each time. A few weeks ago we returned to find the hallway, bathrooms and plants in desperate need of attention and deep cleaning. Layers of dust, nasty doors and filthy curtains make me wonder what the kitchen looks like. Ps your plants need attention too.

I was surprised by the low rating. I made a reservation for dinner Friday night. I didn't expect good food but wanted to see the beautiful beach Sunset view. I took all the recommendations from the service man, and pleasantly surprised the food was pretty good.

Hotel Laguna is a great place to stop and catch the sunset. I was showing a friend around the city and this restaurant provided the perfect vibe to grab a drink and enjoy the beach views. Plus the food was delicious! I would definitely return here

Great experience at the rooftop. Food was delicious. Ambience was wonderful. The service was exceptional. Perfect spot for sunset dinner. The drinks were also refreshing. We had a cucumber skinny margarita and a bunch of appetizers. The tuna poke nachos was our favorite.

My friends chose Larsen at the Hotel Laguna for its panoramic views and Californian food. Making a reservation in advance will help guarantee one of the window seats, so plan ahead. The easy onsite valet parking (validation at the restaurant makes it reasonably priced for beachfront hotel parking). We all enjoyed the shared calamari appetizer for $24 One meat eater chose the caesar salad ($18) with added steak ($16) which was enjoyed even though it was cooked at medium instead of rare doneness. I chose the $28 octopus which tasted much better than the presentation looked. The $26 shaved steak sandwich which was the least enjoyed of all our entrées because it was more bread than meat and not very well seasoned. We all enjoyed our wine and cocktails, but most of all we enjoyed the view!

Looove their patio restaurant overlooking the beach! Drove up from San Diego twice in a month for special occasion brunch & lunches. Simply delightful patio right above beach and crashing waves. Great food, good service!

The lobby and bar are very nice, but the exterior of this hotel is ratty and run down. They must be in the process of doing a much-needed remodel.

We went to the Larsen restaurant. Inside the remodel looks beautiful. Ambiance is great, music was great. View is beautiful, right on the ocean. We sat on the patio and the music was still playing and the ambiance also very good. We had the French union soup (not my favorite) the sushi (super fresh 5 s), cigars (meat pastries with creamy horseradish) - really good, sliced beef sandwich and fries (it's a nice Philly cheesesteak sandwich). Service was decent. No major complaints. There was a patron who brought a super loud annoying yippee dog and the manager had her leave - much to the other guests' relief. Greg (the manager) came up an apologized for the annoyance and got us a round of drinks (wifey had the espresso martini which she rated 8/10 and I had a virgin mojito which was good) just to make sure we were happy. All in all it was a great vibe on a Sunday and we would definitely return.

The dining room is so beautiful that even if the food wasn't great, I would recommend coming. But the food was also delicious so don't miss out! Inside, the dining room is sleek and modern with an amazing view of the ocean from every table. I definitely recommend arriving before the sun sets so that you can appreciate the view. We loved everything we ordered--definitely try the smoked salmon starter. The forbidden rice chips it comes with were so good! Other recs: the salmon, sea bass, and the pear creme brûlée. But I don't think you can go wrong with anything else, either. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. It was my moms birthday, and they treated us to a free dessert! Parking is definitely highway robbery at $15 with validation. Unfortunately, little way to get around that.

Hotel Bar. Lovely atmosphere, great views.

Hotel bar. Drinks were yummy. Service was lovely. Fun to explore this historical place. Great views!

Was super excited to go see the newly remodels Hotel Laguna and it does not disappoint!!! Gorgeous is an understatement! We sat at the bar and ordered cocktails, a mojito, the clear rum punch and a horchta. The mojito was typical and rum punch creative and tasty but tiny! The horchata was as expected but served in a tacky plastic cup with a lid... not representative of the price point for sure! The bar, restaurant and patio area were all packed with pretty people and the view, if fortunate to sit outside is Laguna perfection! Service was slow but it was a Friday early evening and bartenders were working hard to get the crowd served. Lots of room for improvement in operations but location, decor and vibe wins on this one! Bring your wallet!!!!

We had a lovely lunch at Hotel Laguna. Gabby was our waitress, and she was wonderful. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. She was very kind and gave us excellent service. She went above and beyond. Thank you for the wonderful afternoon.

They are so kind and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. The hotel itself is right on the sand. There's beautiful views all throughout the hotel and from the rooms. The location is perfect and close walking distance from many great dining spots. You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again.

The service was excellent and can see that staff takes great care and attention to making sure everything is taken care of. We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

I researched every hotel I could find that was within walking distance to the beach in Laguna. I was not sure what to expect since reviews were a little inconsistent. I was very impressed by the ambiance of this hotel! It's gorgeous! It's warm, tropical and beachy. Very unlike a chain hotel. There were a lot of beautiful details that made the hotel unique. The bed was very comfortable too. Our room had direct access to the pool and that was a nice feature. Other reviews mention the high cost, I agree, it was costly with additional fees. However it's not an economy hotel. It's directly on the beach and I expected to pay a premium rate because of that. A welcome note and fruit were left in the room upon arrival. The staff were great, Sam checked us in and he was very sweet. There was another young man with long hair that was also very kind (I didn't get his name, he gave great direction on some local shopping). Maria made an amazing champagne spritz and she was also very hospitable. Would stay at Casa Loma again 100%. It was a very pleasant experience!

Lovely ocean view and can hear the rolling waves with the sliding door open. You can easily walk to the main street and beach front. - Comfy beds - Clean rooms & cute california style throughout lobby and rooms - Check in woman was very friendly, and explained everything about our stay - Welcome drinks - Pet friendly ! Cons - Our room was not serviced for our 2 night stay. We removed our dnd sign from 11-3 and no one came. For $600 a night this is wild to me that our mats were still wet and no coffee refilled, I didn't see the cleaning staff once throughout our stay. - There is no true restaurant at this hotel. Bites and drinks but no substantial meals. Wasn't surprising to see takeout bags all throughout the halls. - As others stated $75 a night parking fee is wild but you can take your car out as much as you like since there is no Valet - zero amenities in the room -- you have to pay for toothbrush, no water bottles or even carafes of water. Overall the staff, outside of the lovely check in woman were essentially non existent. No cleaners, and even in the morning there were 2 men but they didn't greet or acknowledge anyone. Again for $300 it would be fine and expected but for $600 and on some days even $1K a night on the 4th of July this is wildly overpriced for what you get.

She was efficient but less than welcoming during the check-in process. Unfortunately, I had to interact with this woman two more times during my stay and each interaction was equally unpleasant. My goal in staying at The Tides was to destress but she made me feel like "Bad Dog". Soon after checking in, I had to return to the Office to ask for assistance with accessing the WiFi and a day later, I had to ask for assistance with accessing the pool. I assumed that I needed to use my hotel key to open the gate to the pool. The Office woman made me feel like a fool when she rolled her eyes and said in a tone that I interpreted as exasperated, "There's a latch at the upper top corner of the gate." She was right. There was a latch but it was painted the same color as the gate and I didn't notice it. I only noticed the key hole. My bad. As I floated in the pool, I said to myself, "You are Bad Dog." Someone needs to explain to this Office woman that without these pesky visitors, her business will have no customers and she will have no job.

When I reported the incident, I expected at least a professional investigation and clear communication. Unfortunately, neither was provided. The most frustrating part was the lack of communication from hotel management. I had to follow up seven separate times before receiving any meaningful response regarding my claim. Even then, the information I received was inconsistent and contradictory. One hotel associate told me that security cameras were being reviewed, while another later informed me that there are no cameras in the parking lot at all. This lack of coordination and transparency made an already stressful situation even worse. When the hotel finally responded, they pointed to a limited liability disclaimer allegedly printed on the parking placard. However, the placard I was given was already torn when I received it, and I was never asked to read, acknowledge, or sign anything related to parking liability. Using a damaged placard as evidence that guests were properly informed feels misleading and raises serious concerns about how these policies are communicated. While I understand that hotels may have policies limiting liability, I expected better security measures, more professional communication, and a genuine effort to assist a guest whose property was damaged on-site. Instead, I encountered delays, conflicting information, and a complete lack of accountability. Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage future guests to exercise caution when parking here and to carefully document the condition of their vehicle and any parking materials they receive. The hotel's handling of this situation has left me with little confidence in its commitment to guest service and customer care.
