    KPOW! Shrimp

We haven't eaten at Montana's for some time but we thought we'd give it a try. I order the KPOW Shrimp. It was hard and didn't taste like shrimp at sll and no sesame seeds like always. On another order French fries were ordered and we ended up with garlic mashed potatoes. Very disappointing. The only good thing was the Caesar.

A solid three stars. It is a chain so I didn't have high expectations. Montana's was average. It is a family-friendly restaurant but not as much as East Side Mario's. I got the "large" pork ribs with a side baked potato and coleslaw. The ribs were small and not very meaty. Corn bread was very good. Coleslaw had way too much dressing. The table next to us got the beef rib. I will order that or something else off the menu next time. My wife is a big steak fan she got the bacon wrapped tenderloin which was done exactly as she ordered. She said it was every bit as good as the Mic Mac Bar & Grill. She got a side of fries. They were a bit better quality frozen fries than I expected but frozen nonetheless. Beer is typical Bud chain crap. My lime margarita was very good so I will stick to their mixed drinks. Good service. I asked for a chair while we waited as I am recovering from leg surgery and they brought me one. There was a line up to get it. We had our names taken promptly We were told to expect a 30 minute wait but it was more like fifteen. Came to just under $100 after tax n tip- with two adult entrees, 1 kids meal and two alcoholic drinks.

This is where I was charged not once but 2 times they gave it back then took it again I talked to the manger 3 times with little to no help

Well what can I say about this place I had the worst worst worst customer service ever I ordered from skip the dish something happened technical wise and I was charged $30 from my Visa I called the restaurant they told me it was in there problem with skip the dishes problem I finally got ahold of the manager skip the dishes put $30 in credits on my account then took it back, they told me that they put the money back on my account skip the dishes did that I should reorder the food again and that I wouldn't be charged the manager said this at the restaurant as well I was charged yet again on my credit card I called the manager back got nowheres I called skip the dishes back told them my problem they hung up on me after trying to explain to some lady that couldnt understand English.. So yet again I am out food and money I've been dealing with this for 90 minutes so I give up and hope the owner of the restaurants reads the crap that I have to go just to eat .... remember skip the dishes represents your restaurants you either refund me my money or I'll put reviews like this so people can see what type of scam your running ..... never again will I order from such a backwards operation This is where I was charged not once but 2 times they gave it back then took it again I talked to the manger 3 times with little to no help she actually had the balls to say you should know ordered the 2nd time and then when I noticed it wasn't going through yet again I waited five minutes for the little thing to pick up so I can order my food a second time and then it didn't pick up so I cancelled it because I didn't want to lose my money again and then I lost my money so the manager saying no it's your fault this time are you freaking kidding me this is who representing your company your in alot of trouble

This is one of our favorite go to spots for eating out. Unfortunately though, I always do the same stupid thing... forget to plan for the amount of food that arrives. I always leave Montana's needing to roll out the door. The problem is the food is so good.... We went for early dinner today, arriving around 330pm. The place was pretty empty which was great, no waiting for a table. We sat in the bar area on the high booths, of course being short, I immediatly lost my shoe. That's where the hardship of the meal ended. Our waitress arrived immediately, introduced herself and took our drink order. We ordered 8 wings mild sauce as a starter while we were still selecting our main course. Our drinks arrived right away and a few minutes later so did our appetizer. The wings were good, especially for a chain restaurant. We normally order the Antijitos (which are the bomb!!) but we decided to try something different today. We placed our main course orders, both getting full rack ribs mine with a loaded baked potato (here's where the too much food comes in). The food arrived shortly after we finished our appetizer and the waitress came and refilled our drinks right away. The ribs were so tender the meat basicly fell off the bone. The baked potato was loaded with bacon , cheese and sour cream on the side. Adding corn bread (which I don't get the purpose of... but that's another whole post on its own) and cole slaw on the side... this was a meal for two people. We finished what we could and didnt wait long for the waitress to recognize we were done. Coming over to clear our plates and offering coffee or dessert, we managed to exert a full stomach answer of "no". The part of any restaurant I love is being able to pay at the table, which is another part of why I love Montana's. I have never had a poor service experience at this Montana's, hopefully if you go, you'll be lucky enough to be served by Kendall. The best in the service industry. Always disappointed when we are not sitting in his area. The food portions are definitely well sized and the price is proportionate to the food serving. If you are looking for good ribs and don't want to fight trying to find a parking spot downtown to go to the Q or Boneheads... then definitely Montana's is the place to go.

Whenever I get super hungry and don't feel like cooking, I always choose to pig out at Montana's. Montana's has a great deal is called "all you can eat ribs" and basically you can keep ordering ribs after ribs till your belly gets full. And their ribs are decent - super duper tender and saucy! =great deal is great... right? :p I never had a problem with their service, the restaurant itself is pretty amazing looking. p.s I would recommend wearing sweatpants if you are planning to go there for all you can eat ribs though.. After eat too much of ribs, jean will definitely hurt your belly.

Have to say, this is one of, if not the nicest looking Montana's I've ever been to, the entrance large enough for a Friday night rush, and the bar feels like the hub in the center Food was standard for Montana's, but still good none the less. Place seemed clean and the staff friendly.

With a ranch style theme featured throughout the restaurant, Montana's is a fun and exciting place to go for any occasion. They offer an extensive menu with something for everyone. Personal favorites are the Chicken Pasta Bake and the All You Can Eat Ribs. The prices may be a little steeper than average, but the proportion you receive are bigger as well. If you go on your birthday, the staff will be sure to embaress you by singing their own special rendition of Happy Birthday and by honouring you with the crowning of the Moose horns.

Montana's is a chain restaurant that I don't really think of when I go out to dinner. It's not spectacular, it's a little over priced and anything they have I can make at home. I've kind of always avoided this restaurant however, I went here for lunch the other day and it was absolutely amazing - which is such an amazing and delightful experience. Our servers were two ladies - one was training- and they were both so nice. The customer service was definitely high on this day. They changed a few things for us to be more accommodating without any issue. I ordered the lunch special, with a soup (tomato basil), salad (garden with Italian vinaigrette) and a half of a sandwich (chicken club wrap, in which I added mild sauce instead of the other sauce they use) for 9.99 - and it also came with a free chocolate chip cookie !! I was very impressed to say the least, everything was delicious. My partner got the jambalaya and he was a little underwhelmed with the 'hot dogs' instead of sausages but enjoyed his pasta. We then enjoyed the 'mini desserts'. I got the apple cobbler with ice cream and he got the sated carnal pudding dish with whipped cream. Over all my personal experience was amazing. I enjoyed it - the servers were always happy and such a delight. I'll definitely be back for lunch! Definitely a lot better than the NB locations.

There's a variety of lunch options near my office, but many are your standard pizza joints,…read morein-house lunch spots, and cafes. Gangnam Korean BBQ caught my eye as a place that would have something different - and more flavour - to offer. Their menu has a broad selection of options, with a couple dozen apps, as well as several each of rice and noodle dishes, soups, hot pot and of course, their namesake Korean BBQ. I was looking for something that wouldn't splatter my work clothes in some sort of sauce, so I went with the tofu bibimbap. It was a great mixture of crisp, pickled veg, a rich fried egg with crispy edges and a runny yolk, and soft, lightly fried tofu. A side of gochujang let me spice it up to my own taste. The bibimbap came with bonus sides of miso soup, kimchi and danmuji (yellow, pickled daikon). All added their own flavours and textures to the meal - the warm, savoury soup, the funky snap of the kimchi, and I really enjoyed the danmuji. In addition to its vibrant yellow, the pickling mellowed out the earthy funk of the daikon but each bite still had a great crunch and light tartness that helped cut through the richer parts of my meal. All told, it was a delicious meal and at an easy-on-the-wallet price of just $14 for a hearty, but healthy, meal. A return visit saw me coming by with my wife for a weekend lunch. She went for a couple of their many delicious-sounding apps, the fried Brussels sprouts and yakitori, while I went for the jajangmyeon (black bean pork and noodles). My wife's dishes came out first, and impressively quickly. Deep fried Brussels sprouts are this generations beet and goat cheese salad in their ubiquity, but hey, it works! With just the right level of char, the crispy cruciferous vegetable was dressed in a teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds for extra flavour. The yakitori weren't quite what I expected, as the chunks of chicken were deep fried instead of the typical grilling, but I appreciated their crisp crust that the frying imparted. A bed of spinach and drizzle of sauces felt like an unnecessary deviation that would be better served by a smoky, charcoal grilling, but they weren't bad so much as a bit superfluous. After a short wait, and a few stolen bites of my wife's food, my hefty bowl of noodles was before me. The noodles had a similar look to ramen, minus the de rigeur crinkle and weren't as supple, and came with a veritable sea of black bean sauce. The deeply rich, savoury and sweet sauce doused every noodle and then some, with tender bites of pork, cabbage and onion fleshing out the dish. Our server said this was his favourite dish on the menu, and I can see why - it's a bit of a deep cut versus the more familiar dishes to us non-Koreans, but it checked a lot of delicious boxes! My times sampling Gangnam's food have been nothing but complete successes, and while I benefit from proximity to them, they're a destination-worthy place with wonderfully executed food at more than reasonable prices.

The festival had only been open a few hours by the time I got there and the line ups were already to grow. Judging by the size of the line up Silver Bullet was going to be popular too this year. There were two die hard rib fans behind me in the line. I chatted with them while I was getting tantalized by the eye candy of all that delicious looking meat on the grill. They had gone to the festival in 2015 and had come prepared this year. Both brought coolers (see photos) to take ribs home with them! One of the fans was getting ribs from each of the booths! I got the half rack and a side of cornbread. I couldn't wait to dig into the ribs. They were easily the most meaty, moist and flavourful ribs I ever had. The sauce was the right balance of sweet and tangy. Buttery and slightly crumbly even the conrbread was worth coming downtown for. Halifax needs more food festivals like this!

I got the Bibimbap ($11.99) and got my husband the Dakgalbi Combo ($14.99). The Bibimbap was tasty, but the meat was a wet and saucy ground meat mixture, and not the drier ground meat or beef bulgogi slices that I'm used to with Bibimbap. The vegetables were green cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, onions, and spring mix lettuce. There was also a fried egg on top. No mushrooms or zucchini. And definitely no gosari. The rice was white rice and it was nicely cooked though. Overall it was an enjoyable meal, even though it was lacking some ingredients that I really like in bibimbap. Also the amount of meat was fairly minimal. My husband's Dakgalbi Combo said it was supposed to come with 2 Gimmari dumplings, but it only came with one :( It was good, but where's my other one? It's basically glass noodles, wrapped in seaweed, battered, then deep-fried. I wish we had gotten 2, as per the menu. The chicken was good, but a bit on the dry side. It had a fiery kick to it. It also had some fried rice cake slices in it. No vegetables though, other than onions. The cashier was really friendly and great. I advised her of my sesame seed allergy and she checked with the kitchen and advised me of recommended substitutions. She even checked my food before giving it to me (the kitchen actually had to remake my food, as it did contain sesame seeds first time around. The cashier caught it and asked them to remake it). Five stars to her! The food I'd say is 3.5 stars. So overall, I'm saying 4 stars. There's some seating inside the restaurant and one lonely table for 2 in front of the restaurant, which is where we ate. I kind of liked only having the two of us out there, lol, but if you're set on eating outside, you'll have to try your luck, as the table could be taken. Stopping in around 4pm on a Tuesday, it was pretty quiet in the small shop, other than the stream of music videos playing on the TV. I'm not even sure what the source was given that MuchMusic and MTV barely play any music these days. Ordering at the main counter, I went with the sweet and spicy chicken combo ($8.50) which comes with rice, salad and miso soup, and I tacked on a bottle of water as well. Sitting down at the small counter running along the window, I took in some Adele and other pop music mixed with the sizzle of the deep fryer in the back and notes of spice in the air. It wasn't long before I had my container of grub and was on my way elsewhere to dig in. Upon opening the container, the first thing you're going to see is the respectably-sized pile of deeply red hunks of chicken. I'm pretty far from being a Korean food expert, but I assume that their ubiquitous fermented chili paste, gojuchang, plays a leading role in this chicken. The hint of fermented tang to it would suggest that as well. That, combined with the spice and slight crispness to the chicken made for a tasty entree. I'm not entirely confident that the pieces of chicken didn't come out of a bag: they weren't that mushy texture that frozen chicken can be, or overly dry, just not particularly moist and way too uniform. A pleasant surprise was a couple fried dumplings, which were crispy on the outside, and juicy and pork-tastic inside. The steamed rice was cooked perfectly and was easy to eat with chop sticks. My salad seemed to be run of the mill, creamy coleslaw. It was a bit disappointing in that it would have been nice to try a Korean salad, but it actually helped balance out the heat of the spicy chicken. The cup of miso soup was nice as well, with a mild broth that still had a nice umami flavour, with bits of konbu and ultra-tender cubes of tofu. All in all, it was a very well rounded meal, and at a very good price. They're a unique business in the city, so I hope they can carve out the niche they deserve and I'll be back in the near future so that I can try out their battered chicken.
