This is probably my favorite steak house in town! Rustic outback kind of atmosphere very friendly staff very promt but gruff the kind of thing you would want to see in a bbq western themed place. Wiow, what happened? The line-ups were long, the service was slow but the staff were trying very hard and were friendly and professional. The food was terrible, especially considering the price. The ribs were overly greasy, the fries were cold, the shrimp was over cooked with actual burnt portions. It tasted like spiritless, unengaged cooking". The food was really good. That's the last time "good" will be used in this review. Worst service ever! Wait staff need to slow down and listen to their customers. Our orders were all mixed up and when this was pointed out, the wait staff suggested we just swap the food amongst the plates ourselves. Not cool. The manager delivered some of the food and when heard there was a problem, couldn't get away fast enough rather than sort it out. This all might have been understandable had the restaurant been busy but about 1/4 of the tables were empty! Advertised as Bar-B-Que, but my wife's vegetarian black bean burger was way better than my baby back ribs. Ribs were dry and crusty, although the waitress said they had just gone into the smoker (maybe I got yesterday's?) The Texas bold sauce was sweet, like honey, french fries were barely warm. Whoever was what appeared to be the man in charge Wed April 18th with the two earrings seemed so uninterested in being there it astounded me. I don't know his name as no one had name tags on. Some of the other staff were underwhelming as well. Our server was great though. This man seemed to actually glare at me as we were seated because I think he assumed, correctly, I thought he was terrible at and hated his job. The food was passable but meager in portion. I made sure they knew I was Celiac and we went over the menu and guess what, I got sick. Never again. read more

Nice Montana's in Victoria. I have noticed they really limit the paper on the tables for drawing which is too bad as the kids love that and the staff no longer write there names on the paper. That's why only 4 starts so minor. Food is very good, especially there burgers and fajitas. Staff are very friendly. read more

What a great spot to go to before a movie, I'm never disappointed. We visited the restaurant last week and the staff courteous and efficient to get us out the door in time for our movie. Ample free parking is such a bonus, beats going DT. read more

Food was mediocre and the service was beyond slow. The place was empty but there were dirty tables. We asked for our bill but it took so long that we finally just went up to the till. Had children with us who were clearly getting restless....won't be hurrying back. read more

Been to Montana's bbq and bar Victoria,BC branch a couple of times and everything is great but our last visit was the worst. The server did not even bother to ask us hows the food (usually servers here ask from time to time) that is why it takes more than 10 minutes for me to ask for the side dish that they missed to serve because the waitress didnt even look our table,did not even gave us water,and when I ask for a refill for my bottomless iced tea the server told me that no more refill cause we are going (we're not going to bring their glass out!) Personally,I feel racism from the server(we are Asian),but I dont understand her attitude considering the server is Black We are thinking of not going back here anymore but the food is great so maybe will be going back but hoping for a different waitress. read more

This place is horrible the management team is rude and is not customer friendly. I have been here a few time and every time we have been there our orders came out almost an hour after or under cooked or just simply cold. I would not recommend this place. We hadn't been for several years and though we would give them a try. Arrived around 5pm to find a few groups waiting to be seated and were told that there was a 20 minute wait, despite the fact that there was a whole section of tables open and other sections had free tables. i was called out to order what i want from the menu, i chose their spicy Nashville chicken sandwich off their menu because i remember having it when i used to work at their restaurant before they fired me due to a stupid reason, so today i ordered that very same sandwich and to my surprise only the chicken was there but the sandwich part wasn't, to chefs check this stuff before sending it out of the back of house, the ... "patty" was good but its a sandwich, not a Chicken strip meal, they thought they could make it up to me by giving me a free side of mashed potato's and vegis but that just felt like a giant kick in the gut, this is probably the worst place to go to for BBQ and are probably better off making it at home, i knew a friend who used to work there before he left and had said this place was going down the drain since then, i urge people who want good food to look else where because all you'll find is disappointment. read more

Montana's that was disappointing in the least! Waited more than 1.5 hrs for a seat. When we asked if we could pull tables together in the area closest to check in... we were told no, only to be put there 15 mins later. And it gets better! Orders were screwed up, sauce and onions on a child's tacos after he specifically asked not to have it on there. Poor kid didn't finish his supper. My sons girlfriend ordered a medium rare steak but got a medium...no wait a well done steak. Not the best part! When we asked the server to take it back! He didn't put in the refry order!!! We had to ask about it!!! WTF!!! Oh yes! My friend order pull apart garlic bread, asked about it and never did get it! But it was still on the bill. But the server was nice and gave the toonie back ... not the point server!!! There were other issues but I'm sure you get the point! It turned a lovely birthday dinner for our son into an evening of disappointment! Oh btw, this was one of my sons favourite restaurants but he said he'll never return. terrible service, mediocre food and worst of all they do not support the SCENE card points redemption they advertise, the waitress asked of we had points we want to redeem and then said ooops i thought you wanted points...but since you already paid there is nothing we can do about redeeming and getting your discount you earned....nice what a scam...never ever going back and i will be sure to mention our experience everytime anyone asks about Montana's.....awful manager on the floor as well read more

My son's last day of school, graduating from Grade 4 and he wanted us to take him out to dinner to celebrate. I spent 45 minutes looking for a good place for us to go. We came here and saw the picture saying "Kids eat free, every Thursday" -- I called and asked when I made the reservation for us "Is that kid's eat free on Thursdays" still in effect. The person who took our reservation assured us that it was. We got to the restaurant exactly on time for our booked reservation. We, and several other customers were milling around for 10 minutes and not a SINGLE person came to attend to us, or the other people standing around... although several servers walked by... We ordered appetizer and drinks. Drinks took 20 minutes to get to the table and the appetizer took 45 minutes to get to the table, even though we ordered it almost immediately after sitting down. Our son ordered a $15 burger and a $3-4 drink... The food was ok. Not great... not bad. Reasonable. But we barely had finished the appys before our meals came.... Anyways -- when we went to pay, they disputed the "kids eat free" --- and claimed it was only on Tuesday nights. Even when I told them I had asked the person who I made the reservation with... They said they would look into it and mail us a gift card.. (not give us back the cash that we had paid -- My husband had gone to take care of the bill and forgotten about the kids discount -- I had gone to the washroom so we paid the full amount -- but I was shocked when I asked him how much it had all come to -- since I had been expecting the discount for our son) - and the lady handling the disputed issue was very unprofessional. All in all -- poor experience... RIP OFF! WILL NOT GO BACK. Not worth it. There are other rib places in town. I suggest PIG downtown if somebody is looking for good quality ribs. Not as nice a place to hang out -- but the food at PIG is well worth it. read more

Went to this location on a Saturday night to find it quite under staffed. At least half the tables in the restaurant were empty due to a lack of servers with customers crowding in the waiting area. The hosts appeared to be unprepared to deal with a larger volume of people, and seemed to be unaware of the restaurants seating policies. We asked to be seated at the bar because we didn't want to wait for a table but were told that there was a waiting list for the bar. We were given a pager and were told we would be called once seats at the bar became available. After waiting for twenty minutes and and seeing people walk in off the street and sit down at the bar we walked up to one of the hosts to complain and this time we were told that bar seats were on a first come first serve basis and we had to wait for a seat to open. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. read more
