We rented the Premier Standard Studio - In Unit E Pros: 1) Comfortable bed 2) Great views from the pool area and right on the Sound Cons: As shown in the description of the room we booked: 1) NO sofa bed - it was a "trundle" Difficult for a 65 year old to basically sleep on the floor. 2) No water view! We had a view of the street. 3) No outside Deck with seating. 4) Did not get housekeeping on our assigned day and had to go to office to complain. 5) Did I mention the ANTS....there were ants in every part of this second floor unit. We told the office and asked them to spray...never happened. 6) refrigerator in the room FROZE all of our food and drinks - and the outside of the fridge totally rusted. We booked a week's stay over the 4th of July week. Paid a pretty penny for the room over a holiday week and were not at all satisfied. Never again. read more

Came for a small bachelorette weekend.. place is cute. Had a two bedroom cottage; one room with a full/queen and the other room with two twins. There was also a couch, idk if it was a pull out or not but it was kinda skeevy.. needs a couch cover to come on n off and cleaned with each guest. It was great that we had a kitchen! Nice outdoor seating area/ porch. Really it was a cute spot.. $1350 for the weekend. They don't come and clean, they don't answer the phones, they don't give you garbage bags lol like little shit like that irks me. They should be checking on you to see if you need towels.. it's like just courtesy and normal to replenish basic things people may need. They have a heated pool and a nice little makeshift area w sand over looking the water.. you can climb down some rocks to get to the beach.. honestly, it was fine ... not sure that I would run back here. This is my fifth year staying at The Montauk Soundview. The location is great, walking distance to Gosman's, and a quick drive into town. Since it is a cooperative resort, each cottage is dependent on the individual owner for decor, appliances, kitchen supplies, etc. And some are more updated than others, or beds may be more comfortable in certain units. But the units are all clean and comfortable, the pool is lovely and you can't beat the sunsets. I've had some minor issues but all were handled promptly, and the staff is always helpful. read more

Cute place to stay, small rooms in the cottages but a lot of things were broken... ac didn't work - needed a special touch/timing to get it to work. Pull out bed frame was completely broken - wouldn't even go back into the couch frame so slept at a slant. Couldn't figure out how to turn on the tv. Phone service was minimal and could only use WiFi but it was spotty at best. Probably wouldn't stay there again. read more

We did our annual fishing/golf trip out in Montauk and stayed at the soundview. For 6 guys we got the 2br cottage. Place was very accommodating as we only needed 2 nights (usually 3-night min). Very clean, right in the water and just a 3 minute walk to Gosman's. Was quiet when we were there, very family friendly. I also had reservations at montauk manor but paid extra just to be on the water. Will def go back next year read more

Came here for a girl's weekend with 5 friends. 6 people in one cottage was definitely a tight squeeze, but in this location there's no need to spend much time indoors. Our cottage was clean, and the beds were comfortable enough. Unfortunately, the floor was not thoroughly cleaned when we arrived. We got assigned the exact cottage we booked on airbnb, so we knew what to expect from the inside. The people at the front desk were friendly and laidback, which is always appreciated. Check in and check out were seamless. Overall, this place is great for an affordable weekend, and it was definitely more appealing than the other inns in the area. We're all in our early 20s. The other guests seemed to be mostly college kids and adult couples. I'm surprised people seemed to run into so many issues here. We didn't run into any serious problems. Ps. If you want to grill, bring your own charcoal and lighter! read more

This place looks great on the outside, so when you walk into your room, it's disappointing. our room was small & all the furniture totally run down & outdated. Also the toilet was not bolted to the floor, so it wobbled. the toilet seat was also broken. there were no USB charging ports & WIFI didn't work inside the room. really disappointed & so not worth 240.00 a night. read more

Terrible experience. When we arrived the Air conditioner was broken and our room was hot. the tub was dripping a steady stream constantly and couldn't be turned off. the shower was as almost impossible to work. They could not fix the Air conditioner and told me the only option I had was to stay in hot room or look for another place to stay for the night. This was around 6pm and we would need find a place to accommodate a group of 6. I was then told we would be reimbursed only for them to give us $40 off stay and not answer any phone calls. The property manager ignored every call and text I sent him. Staff was not helpful and they didn't even have a box fan to offer to help cool down room. Also overheard another customer complaining about same issue with Air conditioner. read more

Awful experience. Especially considering how expensive the place is. Room was incredibly cramped. No place to hang full length clothes except a coat hook in front of the window. Dresser drawers just fell out of the dresser if you tried to use them. Towels for the pool were not provided (which was advertised). Pool wasn't cleaned until ~11am. Grimy and grody before then. Check-out was at 11am, but cleaning staff came into our room w/o knocking at 9:30. Front desk made no effort to apologize. Was more concerned about a physical description of the staff member. I've been treated a lot better in places that cost a lot less. Seems like they're just riding on the location for a premium. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE - TIME SHARE GUESTS AND STAFF ARE HORRRRIBLE . im not one for reviews normally but this is absolutely unacceptable. amenities do not work and this place has 0 hygiene . Stayed here july 4th weekend with my boyfriend. We were harassed by people who have shares in APT number 8, and the West Deck. The guy who claims he is the OWNER of the Soundview was aggressive and demanding that we don't park in a parking spot because he was grilling in the parking lot. He demanded that park across the street, getting closer and closer to my car each time i said I was going to park in the designated parking areas for guests. My boyfriend and I then checked into the hotel, OF COURSE our room ended up being right above theirs. We got ready for dinner, came back to 5 missed calls from the reception, and a text saying its urgent please call me back. I called Ellie back, and was told the people from room 8 complained about you, the own their unit downstairs, and they want the SERVICE INFORMATION for you service dog. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. not only are the guests harassing me, but they have the people working their doing the same as well. If the hotel wanted information or proof of service they should have requested that upon booking (when i told them i had a service animal) or when i checked into the hotel, not because some ego driven people downstairs are butt hurt that someone didn't listen to them. in addition to this, the AC, WIFI, and TV ALL were not working in the room. ON top of this, we had already booked another stay the following weekend. we were met with bugs coming out of the couch. When we opened the couch for one of our friends to sleep on, there were PERIOD STAINS on the mattress and NO sheets to cover it (absolutely disgusting!!!) I had to take the sheets off of my bed to cover the PERIOD STAINS on the couch - and sleep on my bed with out sheets ... WHO KNOWS WHAT WAS ON MY BED . it is clear that this hotel does not take cleaning into consideration ... and during a time where HYGIENE IS ESSENTIAL because of COVID, i would not trust that this hotel is taking precautions to sanitize your rooms in an effective manner. ON TOP OF THAT - we were kicked out of the pool area due to having an issue with draining ... the person who TOLD us to leave was the GUEST from the previous week who was harassing me .. im seeing a pattern here. I contacted the manager, was hung up on. DISGRACEFUL . how can you charge 600 for a night and allow the above to go on. read more

Husband and I stayed here for a weekend during a family wedding. We were very happy with our stay. It was expensive but what isn't in Montauk. Our room was quaint, cute, and clean. The resort was beautiful quick access to a private beach and pool close by. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was due to communication. We were traveling from NJ and may have been checking in after normal check-in times, it was not easy to get in touch with the front desk. I tried calling numerous times two weeks prior to our arrival and it was tough. However, if we ever go back to Montauk - we would definitely stay here again. read more

we have stayed here many times at the Soundview but prefer other spots. This time we had a dead seagull in front of out patio for 2 days - we asked it to be removed multiple times only to be ignored. My young children were horrified. we paid over 2 grand for a weekend to stay and were treated like it was a filthy motel. Additionally all the springs in our bed were broken and my wife and I slept in what felt like a hole. Never coming back what a rip off - stay away MTK has gotten way too expensive and this staff cares less and less about their patrons. read more

We stayed for one night at the Soundview. Great location and views. Our room was small, but, it was just the 2 of us. My biggest issue was the pool was not open in the am at 8:30 just to sit and enjoy my coffee. It was also very quiet at the front desk. No one was there 3 or 4 times i stopped in to ask a question, get our checkout information and get extra towels. There was a note on the desk to call a cell phone number to contact someone. we stayed at the Soundview hoping for a peaceful, clean vacation. The price was extremely high for a tiny room, there were no provided pool towels as advertised, and the pool was filthy. The cleaner came in at 11 o'clock (way past the time that guests began swimming). the most dissatisfying part is that the cleaning service WALKED IN ON US. no knocking, just walked right on in. When mentioned to the front desk, no apologies or attempt to reconcile was provided. overall, extremely dissatisfied and will not be coming back nor will we recommend this place to anyone. read more

stayed here over the summer with my girlfriend and her teen son. The location is fantastic! It's walking distance to Gosman's and their shops, to the beach, docks for charter boats, as well as other surrounding restaurants. Nightlife was good because we didn't have to drive everything was in walking distance. Its far enough out of town by the main beach that you avoid all the traffic. Quick car ride to Montauk Brewery right up the road, and also to stop in town for their farmers market and quick ride around the inlet to a bigger beach. I wasn't sure how it work not staying at a resort here but for location it was absolutely perfect. Also less than 10 mins from Lighthouse and hiking trails. The sunsets are amazing on the back dock on the property that sits nestled on the sound. Good amount of seating by the pool or by the water on sound. Have area for BBQ's just bring your own charcoal. I would've given 4 stars but the pull out couch was far from comfortable her son had springs in his back and ended up sleeping on the floor. other than that great spot! read more

You can not beat the location! We prefer staying on the sound as the sunset doesn't get any better that this spot! Having the ability to walk out of our 2-bedroom unit and onto grass then lounge in the sand is wonderful. The pool is where the kids hangout and everyone is usually super friendly. We love the apartment style apartment for access to breakfast, lunch, cocktails, etc. I wish the living room furniture and bathroom was a little better maintained as somewhat dated or run down, especially for the rising costs of stay year after year. Walking distance to Gosmann's, Salivar's TT's, Tony's, etc. We also utilize the community grills (charcoal and lighter fluid not provided). Beach is rocky path from the property, but manageable and great once you get down there. Staff cleaned our unit every other day (we stayed for 5 days) and always provided us with any extra towels or bathroom supplies. Only reason for 4 stars is the outdated living furniture, repairs needed in bathroom and it is pricey. But, we have made memories here each summer and will continue to. read more

Dreaded Room H. It's not so much a room as an afterthought. First, it's not rectangular. Call me old-fashioned, but I like walls with right angles. They shoved a bed into a nook and ... voila ... $125 a night. Another big minus was the bathroom. Barely enough room for a toilet and a shower, where there was a sign stating you had to jimmy the shower door or it would flood. I have a better idea---fix the door. The tile was quite chipped and the wall paper was peeling. We also didn't have a closet, just a prison-like rod to hang our wares. From what I saw of the other rooms, they were much more roomy and better appointed. I understand that Montauk has a casual, beach-like atmosphere, and so I should probably take that into account. Yet basic maintenance should not be optional. The location, however, was top notch and the pool did look inviting (though I did not have a chance for a dip). The host---Eileen---was also quite friendly and even ironed a shirt of mine (since the rooms didn't have irons). read more

The views are fantastic! We had the cottage closes to the beach, amazing views to wake up to. The staff was very nice and helpful. The cottage is very small, the WIFI was not good at all, the place was not very clean. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, old and constantly squeaking when you moved, they did not have any beach towels to sit by the pool and were not able to get extras. We needed to buy beach towels in order to sit by the pool. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because of the views. read more
