I have family members who stayed here in August 2025. Overall they said it was fine, and otherwise I'd give it 4 stars, but there was one major annoyance that wasn't remotely handled acceptably, losing one star for the underlying issue and another for the poor handling: the TV wouldn't work at all. Okay, people don't travel to watch TV, but you just want things to work and to relax, and constantly calling the staff to fix the TV and having them in your room failing to fix the TV is not relaxing. Make sure major items in the rooms are working, or have spares and replace them. Period. This place was then too cheap to offer real recompense and gave my family member some awful ski cap that probably cost about 30 cents. Just unacceptable at this price point. read more

The hotel had a very chill surf vibe, the lobby building felt like I was sitting in Jack Johnson's livingroom. Sophie and her staff were very friendly and helpful! Stayed here in late april right before season started and it was an absolute dream! The rooms are stunning, so clean, amazing views, and super comfy beds. There was a darling check in area with a super inviting bar area, as well as amazing and warm staff. Alex went above and beyond to make our stay perfect, sofia was great as well. The outdoor lawn area was amazing, it had long tables, hammocks, day beds, fire pits and fun chairs all around. There were even bikes available for use that made the small walk into town even faster! It's my second season at Hero Beach club and I'm so happy I found this place. It's an amazing place on the beach in Montauk where you can walk/bike to town and relax on beach all day long. They have amazing rooms, I stayed at couple and each seems very unique and special. Stuff is amazing and always welcoming. Beach is literary on back yard and they have umbrellas and bean bags for your comfort. They have great pool also that kids love) in evening there are two big fire pits that all the visitors making s'mores and hanging out. My stay can best be described as highway robbery. This is a budget motel with a good location next to the beach. There is not one ounce of luxury in this stay. I found myself taking out my own garbage, taking out my own towels, and cleaning the floor myself. Lets see... what else was wrong... there is no toilet paper holder so it reminds me of my college days. The Toilet is next to shower with no divider so the whole room gets wet when you take a shower. Heat doesn't work but they have heaters so we found ourselves sleeping with a heater next to our bed. Again, my college dorm room had more amenities. The front door barely closed without me literally shoving it as hard as I can. They don't do room service until your 3rd night stay. I don't think its a covid thing since we had friends staying at another hotel and they had their room cleaned. Not sure if it is a montauk thing but this hotel was below average. If you can't find a better price I would find somewhere else to vacation. The only good thing is the location next to the beach. I would never come back. read more

Take me back to this wonderful experience! Claudia, you were a charm! We were welcomed and she described all the greatness that Hero Beach Club had to offer. Once she helped us settle in by giving us a little tour -- we went back to the front and received a complimentary alcohol beverage! Yasss! Driving up to Hero Beach Club, you do not see the uniqueness until you settle into your room. Our room offered a cute place to sit right outside the front and back door! There's an amazing back yard type of area where you can hangout and they provide you with ingredients to make s'mores by the fire! Inside of the room there's a cute little stove, the decor gives a chill bohemian vibe, bathroom is a big shower with a toilet (with two shower heads!) bed was super comfortable, and so much more! The beach was a few steps from our room. On the beach, Hero Beach Club provides you with towels, long bean bags (for you to stretch out and chill) umbrella, water, etc if you need it! Loved all of it! We had a really bad experience at Baron's Cove in Sag Harbor and Hero Beach Club redeemed our weekend! Wish we came here first! The staff were all amazing and helpful! We got a great off-season rate here towards the end of winter. You would never catch me in Montauk or the Hamptons during the busy season as the Coachella hipster crowd has made it into a crazy experience. This is an interesting concept ... a complete renovation of a 1950's style motel. Everything looks like a Pinterest post slash Ikea advertisement. Modern, clean and bright ... it has a California vibe. Lots of white with light wood furniture. The bathroom was the biggest letdown. We were assigned a handicap accessible room, which was basically just a fully tiled room (it looked a little like a funhouse room because every ounce of the floor and walls was tiled with pattered black and white tile. Remember that scene in Willy Wonka (the original) where they were in a room with no doors or no windows? That's what this looked like. There was a drain in the floor, a toilet bowl, single sink and a showerhead on the wall. No toilet paper holder on the wall, the rolls were stacked on the tank of the toilet ... not even a shower curtain! The room was comfortable and relaxing with good lighting and a sliding glass door which lead to a pretty big balcony style deck. Though the decks were shared with neighbors, there was a little divider so while you could hear conversations next door ... you couldn't see your neighbors. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. We booked through a discount travel website and will book directly through the hotel next time because they don't offer the premium rooms (upper level with partial ocean views) on discount sites ... only when booked directly. One thing we didn't like is that the daily resort fee. This is something so many hotels are charging these days to make it look like the room is cheaper than it is. The resort fee includes use of the sauna/steam room, gas firepits and a welcome drink at check-in. (beer or wine from a tap) Also, an ipad for each room. We felt that we'd rather have saved the resort fee and not had the drink (we planned to bar hop), the wifi didn't work great and we had no time for the steam room. (The firepits were nice though!) We would certainly come back here ... the friendly staff was one reason, the comfortable rooms were another and the fact that you can walk across the street to the beach is great! I am sure during the summer it can get crowded and expensive but it was a good little inexpensive weekend getaway in the chilly off-season. You can also walk to town easily. We almost got an $11 uber to head to the Montauk main drag ... thankfully we didn't as it is a short walk from the hotel for a healthy person. What a cute place! I rented out the night for my parents and we were pleasantly surprised by how great the amenities and vibes were. We had a room facing the ocean. Although we couldn't see much ocean, their backyard was a view itself. Inside was clean and spacious. The balcony was a great addition! There were comfy chairs to sit and enjoy the weather. My parents enjoyed staying the night at Hero Beach Club. They were able to escape the city life and see the beautiful stars at night as well as the sunrise in the morning. They were also given welcome drinks which included alcohol! They could not stop raving at how everything at Hero Beach Club was so great for their mini getaway. read more

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel on HotelTonight without even really looking at any of the details of the hotel. We were so pleasantly surprised when we walked in! It was so modern and beach chic! The decor is amazing, from the 'lobby' to the rooms to the backyard area. Its very very very INSTAGRAMMABLE! Upon check in you get a complimentary drink for each guest. *Note if you check in on Yelp, you get an extra two complimentary drinks ;-) The rooms are spacious and perfect for a little getaway. The beach is literally across the street. We went in the afternoon around 2 and the next morning around 8 and it was so empty! Granted its before the normal season but its so awesome that there are barely people there. At night time, the hotel offers smores at night by the fire pits! It's such a cute touch. All the staff is extremely friendly. There were two different young ladies at the front desk, both very sweet. Andres was there when we were checking out and he was so incredibly friendly. Really took the time out to speak to us and tell us about the hotel. I can only imagine how nice this hotel must be in the summer time! We stayed here for a long weekend this July. The cost was almost $1,000/night for a somewhat spacious room with a king bed and a view that was mostly the building next door with a little bit of the ocean to the side. Pros: Comfortable bed, clean room, nice heated pool with some drink service at random times. Fire pits outside are a nice touch. The lobby has a small bar area where you can grab a drink to go. Cons: Day 1 we went to the beach and all the hotel umbrellas and chairs were taken. We hadn't brought our own chairs or blankets as the hotel provides. We were told the quantity was limited because of Covid. Day 2 we went to the beach first thing and the chair/umbrella service just never showed up. Sat there for over an hour before giving up. So no beach days on our beach weekend:-( I'll stay with some of my go-to places in Montauk like Driftwood, Sea Crest and Surf Club. read more

I visited Kirk Park Beach last summer and drove past this new-ish spot, so I was excited when my family told me they booked a room for a quick 4-day getaway this August. PROS: I want to start off by saying this is a beautiful stay - although pretty cozy, the rooms and the whole outdoor space are very thoughtfully designed and very fun/modern. Super instagrammable if this is something on your personal checklist. The hotel is also located across from one of the quietest beaches on the strip which might be a plus if you're looking to get away from loud kids. The hotel has their own bean bag poofs for the beach, a pool, s'mores stations every night at their fire pits, and first-come-first-serve free bike rentals (which is convenient as the hotel isn't very central, although the trip into town is not bad whatsoever) CONS: Their website advertises their "Hero Double Standard" room as a space that can hold up to four people. While there are two full beds, this space is very cramped for a family of four. Not to mention the lack of a proper door for the bathroom/shower is concerning for my father (and his two 20 y/o daughters). You'll also see in some of the pictures how our room has been maintained. Like many of the other reviews read, there is only a mini fridge (no freezer) and no other typical kitchenette appliances like a microwave or a coffee maker. Additionally, their complimentary continental breakfast spread consisted of a few nature valley bars, muffins, and coffee in their front lobby. Probably notttt worth the amount we're paying a night. CONCLUSION: It's clear this hotel isn't family-friendly, but this hotel is good for a group of friends who plan on eating out frequently and would like to stay away from the hotel strips towards the other side of the beach. If looks are important (they are for me) but budget isn't as much, this is a nice place to stay. read more

Wife and I stayed at Hero for a few weekdays in late June - early July, kinda shoulder season for Montauk. I forget which package we got, but it wasn't the top-level "ocean view" suite, that was already booked. We did book the champagne-arrival situation. Hero is designed for the Instagram/Tik-Tok set - it is *very* pretty. The plantings are beautiful ... but there's still plenty of poison ivy under the lawn-facing deck, so mind your feet. Hero is to luxury accommodations as Montauk is to the Hamptons - almost there (and neither is a good value). Clearly, Hero is a reskinned motel, whatever - but the old sign is still there, if painted over. A nod toward authenticity and legacy? Or a few lazy coats of paint? Unclear. Hero's off the beaten path a bit, so it's quieter than a lot of the places in town. The beach is quieter, too - and not strewn with trash in the morning, which is more than can be said for the properties further east. My wife and I had a lovely time hanging on the beach, with Hero's own chairs and umbrellas. Unfortunately, it was unclear that the high school kids hanging out with their friends on the beach were actually employed by Hero as cabana boys - I had to practically pull the manager to the beach to find out where the beach chairs were, and where the help was. Again - the service was there, but you had to search for it. Here's another example - we paid for the champagne package - I had to ask for it, which was kinda awkward, and then we were given a bottle of prosecco. I know, poor baby, right? Heard - but for what I paid, it should have been champagne. Look, in the end, we had a lovely stay, but did not live up to what Hero charged - almost $1000 a night. I know it wasn't $1000, because that's what Gurney's was asking, and they had full ocean views. We would have stayed with Gurney's anyway, but their spa was closed (??) for renovations (?!) I fully acknowledge that the hospitality industry is under a lot of pressure, trying to maintain revenue (read: stay open), with limited staff, and supply chain issues. But the more I think about this past June, the more I can't help but feel like we were ripped off ... If I were to stay in Montauk again, I actually would consider Hero. But seeing how inflated all of the lodgings are in the area, I would think twice about staying in Montauk at all. We had a nice time, but sheesh did we pay for it, in both dollars and patience. read more

Hotel room was very minimalist but comfortable enough. My issue is with the *additional and mandatory* "Resort Fee." After our reservation was confirmed online, I was notified in small print of this mandatory fee of $20. This fee supposedly goes to cover the use of the pool (it's outdoor, there's no water in it, its 41° outside), the sauna (was not turned on), the fire pits (weren't lit), and two drinks upon check-in (all they had was beer-nothing non-alcoholic and I'm sober. They just gave me a maraschino cherry). Sooo $173 for 1 night to stay in a room above the dumpsters with no oceanvuew plus another $20 to use amenities not available off-season. This is a scam. 2 stars for the beach near by and comfortable beds. But this is not an ideal place to go for couples or if you're looking for quietness. Large families occupied most of the motel .. (and I say motel because most of these hotels in montauk are just run down motels renovated and trying to create this hippy boho vibe. Every night you can hear the stomping of people from upstairs, drunk people talking loudly, and worst of all right near the highway. $3k for a two night stay - I dont think so. During this pandemic, Hero really did save the day/week. If you read nothing else, know that we extended our stay for double the time because it was just that rejuvenating. Modern, chic, and practical. Has everything you need from local beer and rosé to beach service and daily evening s'mores on their two fire pits. They have complimentary bikes that you can use and the most luscious bean bags to lay on while on the beach. Bean bags and beach umbrella is provided on demand - basically making you feel extra special bc at the end of the day, they did set it up just for you ;). When you arrive, you get welcomed with a welcome drink and the best, friendly service. Alex, the hotel manager, is your man. His team - Sherry, Claudia, Troy, Kino, and Lou - are on point. They aren't your stuffy hotel staff that ya get at some places, they make ya feel like you've come to your home away from home and foster that sense of community that sets the tone for you and the other guests. This was our first time staying at hero beach club and we LOVED IT! It is a very special boutique hotel that offers yoga and Pilates classes daily (we didn't take any) coffee and light breakfast as well as lots of great little treats in our room. The room was very clean, we had an ac issue and it was fixed right away. Sajel at the front desk was dedicated and eager to please, Steve the bartender was awesome and welcoming, as well as the gentleman who did the maintenance and helped on the beach, can't remember his name this second. This is now my favorite place to stay and unwind in Montauk! Recently found them while browsing hotels last week for a quick last minute getaway. Upon checking out their website and reviews, I was intrigued by what it would be like to stay there for the weekend. And I'm so glad we did! After driving 3 hours from NYC, we pulled up to their parking lot and the check in process was smooth sailing. Front desk was super sweet and professional, and informed us of where we should park and where our room was located (on the other side). I snagged a pretty good rate for the Hero Queen room so I didn't expect much, to be honest. We got our keys and proceeded to check out our room #16, and all I can say is...WOW! What a beautifully appointed and aesthetically pleasing room it was. At first glance, I noticed that the room was much bigger than the pictures and then I realized there were actually two beds in here: one king size in the main room and one queen in a separate bedroom. They actually upgraded us to a Hero King Suite, what a sweet surprise. The patios in the front and back of the room were a great touch to the modern vibe. Location was impressive, right in front of the private beach. Only steps away, we were able to check out the long and sandy beach with such ease. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit too cold for us to enjoy it. The town was also a quick 5-min walk down the street so everything was within close proximity. We even got to use their complimentary bikes for the afternoon, which was neat getting around town. The iPad in our room as super convenient since we requested for more body wash and housekeeping quickly shows up to deliver more! Overall, Hero Beach Club was such a pleasant and warm environment and I seriously cannot wait to be back here again by the end of summer. It has always been my tradition to visit the Hamptons every summer and this will be my go-to resort without a doubt! A+++ read more

The room was absolutely beautiful and we had a great view from our balcony. Being right on the beach is a huge plus, they set you up with a comfy bean bag chair and an umbrella. Loved how family friendly it was, we felt at home the whole time. My 2 1/2 year old loved the outdoor movie in the garden, which he referred to as "the backyard" lol. My friend and I stayed here to celebrate a 40th birthday. From the moment we walked in and met the front desk staff to our departure, we felt part of the Hero Beach Club family. Our room had ocean views, warm and welcoming Balinese wood craft beds, great shower pressure, and beach kissed natural light. The room looked over a floral, elegant backyard with plenty of spaces to frolic and hang out. We couldn't stop talking about how comfortable the mattresses were. The rooms are spacious enough that you can do yoga or relax on the terrace. The beach is steps away over a flower lined path. When we arrived at the beach, there were plush and comfortable day beds and umbrellas to rest and refresh on. We felt pampered and well taken care of. We can't wait to come back later this summer. One thing I loved is that the staff keeps the front area filled with fresh fruit, muffins and snacks throughout the day. Cool tip: if you take the Hampton Jitney into Montauk, Hero Beach Club is just a short walk from there. read more

I have nothing bad to say about this place. I almost don't want to tell people about it, that's how great it was! They were super accommodating of me and my friends. Beautiful rooms, super comfy beds, a lovely outdoor space, pool, and the ocean right over the dunes. It was breezy and peaceful, and very convenient to the "town" area - we were able to walk home from many places! The front desk staff were always friendly and not once snotty, held our luggage for us after we checked out, gave us free rose :) and overall made us feel very welcome. Bonus points for the little assortment of breakfast items in the morning. On the beach they gave umbrellas and these comfy chair cushion things and the staff was attentive to our every need. Oh and the towels were SO FREAKIN SOFT. And huge. I only hope that this place stays as wonderful as it is and that I get to come back someday! read more

We went on a mid week getaway. And this was the perfect late September trip to take. We got lucky with beautiful weather. This motel style lodging is situated just miles from the Montauk lighthouse. Many rooms on the second floor have ocean views. It is close to all kinds of casual and fancy eateries and other shops. The decor is funky and modern. The heated pool was just lovely. There were very comfortable lounge chairs and fully private gated space. The beds were exquisite. The lawn with the fire pits and comfortable outdoor furniture was wonderful to enjoy as the sun was going down. You could slip out your room and go over a dune and see that beautiful Atlantic ocean and it's fullness. The sunsets were magnificent and so too were the sunrises. The staff were accommodating and helpful and friendly. The only downside was I have a disability and have a disability scooter and could not use that on the grounds because of all the gravel. I was told ahead of time that I would be fine with a mobility scooter. But it was difficult. They did upgrade me to a better room where I had less obstacles to moving and walking. I would go here again. I probably couldn't afford to come at peak time but it was great for off peak time. read more

My husband and I just spent the weekend at Hero Beach Club. It's a beautiful, high-end 'beach chic' boutique hotel that is close to everything but yet removed from the party scene (thankfully!). Hero's stretch of beach is quiet, clean and relaxing with the most comfortable beach loungers and prompt setup by the beach staff. We enjoyed having breakfast in the courtyard with festive music in the background and enjoyed their fire pit on a cool evening. Emar is an awesome General Manager (who promptly responded to all my emails prior to our arrival) and he and his team really know how to spoil their guests. Alejandra and Ray were super kind, helpful and accommodating. Other than a minor issue with the AC (we didn't notice an issue but the team worked frantically to fix it) we had a great stay and will definitely be back!!! read more

Finally have time to post this review. I had been to the top hotels in Montauk and with confidence, I can say that Hero Beach Club tops the list of the accommodations I stayed at. I couldn't thank Emar enough, he was more than happy to spark up a conversation with you and ask you about your day. He made me feel like family when I arrived. The hotel was beautiful, the art work and decor is absolutely gorgeous. The hotel is well priced and staff looked after your safety and well being for the entire duration on our trip. The authenticity and creativity behind Hero Beach Club are both outstanding and impossible to miss! I enjoyed a 2-night stay here and was very impressed with how well thought out this spot is. Andrés, the manager, was exceptional from booking our stay with him over the phone to taking care of our needs and questions in person. We even had fun hanging out with him and the GM in the lobby bar! The room was beautiful and reminiscent of an airy breezy bedroom you would expect to find in Tulum or Mykonos. The bed exceeded my expectations in comfort - a feat I never thought I would say about a hotel! The rooms are spacious complete with a delightful balcony and check all the boxes. However, you probably won't want to spend much time there since the public areas are too good to pass up... The vibe here is a cross between Hamptons chic and artsy Abbot Kinney. We LOVED enjoying the large pieces of art in the "backyard" - I've never seen anything like it at a hotel and it did not go unappreciated. It was pretty chilly in Montauk this time of year and the fire pits were perfect to warm up and allowed us to enjoy the evening outdoors despite the weather. I can't wait to come back during the summer to fully take advantage of the beautiful outdoor lounge area and giant tables. The "backyard" here makes me want to host a large party to fully take advantage of the space! The pool is open and heated during the colder months and we had a blast going for a swim followed by a visit to the sauna and steam room. Both were perfect! They really did an impeccable job of curating the vibe throughout every facet of the hotel. Even the music playing over the speakers was always on point! I came here with a group and was not sure of what to expect given the prior reviews but I thought this was a great property, though I expect that it could become a bit of a mad house once the season is in full swing. The location is great as you can walk right onto the beach from the hotel property, which is a major plus. I found the woman who was working the office to have been very helpful when we needed it. The rooms are well renovated, though luckily I was staying there by myself because there is not a door to the bathroom. The decor was well done and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were spacious and had a nice view of the lawn and the dunes from the top floor. The lawn and the pool were nice, as well. read more

My husband and I came here the weekend before MDW (May 2018) and really enjoyed our stayed. The hotel grounds and room were very clean. I saw the hotel staff clean the property constantly throughout the weekend. The pool area was great and pool was heated. Easy access to the beach. There were two things we didn't like. The sink location outside of the bathroom was a bit strange. I read about it in other reviews and didn't think it was something to care about, but I must admit it become quite an annoyance. The other thing was the thin walls. We could hear conversations in nearby rooms and outside. But nonetheless, we would stay here again. read more
