Zulma (Leasing Specialist) gave us a tour of Monterey Pines and thoroughly answered all of our questions (and we had plenty). She was professional over the phone and in person, and was super easy to communicate with (bonus points for humor). Honestly, our interaction with Zulma made us want to move to Monterey Pines even more (because good communication is important and she gave us good vibes). Overall, the move-in process went smoothly and everything was very straight forward. Jennifer (Assistant Manager) walked us through the lease when the time came and helped us add our cat to the plan. Everyone here is super friendly and professional. It's really great. In terms of the actual apartment, we LOVE living here so far. The one bedroom is spacious and has an open layout. More than enough space for 2 people and a pet. Parking is also super easy. We can always see our cars from the window and have had no problems finding parking later at night. The grounds are also v nice. It's well kept, clean, and has a park-like feel to it. The tennis courts are well-lit if you like to rally, and there's a neat little workout strip at the back of the complex. AND if you like to run, the parking lot loop is 0.5 miles, which is nice and flat. Our neighbors are also friendly and have a really cute dog. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Lived here for 2 years, the property is kept clean, and maintenance is very responsive! Buy what I loved most was that the office staff was always friendly to me and my husband. UPDATE: I received the full $280 back, however I was never told I would receive it. I was messaged by the community manager apologizing for any misunderstanding on this. I believe that my review on Yelp caused them to refund the full $280. While I am glad to have my money back, I would warn those wishing to apply here to ask questions that would cover every little detail, and communicate as much as you can through email. I lived here for 5 years. I was mostly happy here. I needed to live near Redlands. It was what I needed at the time but over time I had a very negative experience. I grew to really want to leave. The good: The complex is beautiful with lots of grass and lovely trees, butterflies and birds. There is a cozy campground feel and it really really made me very happy during the time there. Beautiful court yard. Nice clean laundry facilities (2). Most of my neighbors were very friendly/nice. Lots of families. It's also conveniently located near the freeway on ramp (a couple signal lights away) and near to grocery stores and hospitals. Maintenance is pretty excellent especially Dallas. He's always quick, friendly, and hard working.. really top notch maintenance there. Sabrina the leasing office manager is nice and professional. She's always been very pleasant to talk to. Spacious bedrooms. The bad: I gave 2 stars because my bad experiences were to me significant. Car vandalism and theft frequently. It's really bad. Thrives in the area must know this the place to go and there is no surveillance. No gate. I know my neighbors have experienced vandalism and tire theft with their car left on cinder blocks. My car was vandalized and then later stolen. It's the reason I moved. Management does not notify the residents of the crimes when they happen, which I think is wrong. Another issue that made me want to leave was spotting transients bathing in the pool. More than once this happened too and it's because the complex is so open and exposed. The pool has a short gate around it that's very easy to reach over to unlatch and open. Small kitchen. Not a lot of cupboard space. Lots of noise there too. The buildings are old so walls are very thin. You can hear everything your neighbors do and I mean everything. The gardeners are there multiple days every week nice and early and very very loud for hours. The complex looks great but I did not sleep well here, which was frustrating. The loud train directly behind the complex makes things extra noisy too. Many spiders also and they get inside frequently. I found a black widow once even and I never leave doors or windows open. There are many wasps and wasp nests around. There were small almost pea size openings in the seal at the bottom of the door and one of my windows.. this allows cold/heat to escape and bugs to get in. Not all apartment complexes have their Pool and Gym closed still/right now but Monterey Pines chose to, which is ok, but they still hiked the rent in spite of not having those amenities for several months and now indefinitely. If noisy mornings aren't an issue for you or hearing your neighbors TV/activities doesn't bother you and you have good auto insurance + anti theft features that or something.. this is a decent enough complex if you need to pay less than what Redlands costs.. but otherwise the bad might outweigh the good for you eventually like it did for me. read more

I came into today as I'm apt looking. I walk in and a younger hispanic female is the only one in the office. I ask her if there are any available 2 bedroom, she said no. She said there's a waitlist and it requires a $100 fee? What, a fee to get put on a list...why? I then asked her if I can see a model, she said they don't show models when its raining. WTF, you expect me to pay $100 for something I can't even see? That sounds like a total scam! Her overall attitude was the worst customer service I've had in years. She didn't even greet me or introduce herself as if she was busy screwing off on Facebook when I came in. The complex looks nice but I lost all interest due to that total B. I can only imagine how tenants deal with her with real issues. I went down the street to Sierra Vista. Put me on the waitlist and showed me the model with no issues. Screw this place. read more

We were given a tour on various types of apartments. The place is well kept and cared for. The curb appeal was the reason we stopped by. However the reception and responding to our questions during the tour overshadowed it. We looked at few units. Very clean and fresh. Sarah who accompanied us during our visit made very nice impression on us. While touring, we were greeted by other tenants which a nice touch. We visited other places before and after this place, but decided to stay with them for variety cumulative reasons. Finding this place put a very positive spin on our day in finding a suitable place. Sabrina the leasing manager made everything an absolute breeze for my fiancé and I. It's our first apartment and we could not be happier. The property is beautiful, quiet, and friendly. All of our neighbors are friendly to us and our sweet dog. The complex is very well maintained and a pleasure to call home. The apartment itself is so cute and cozy, we felt at home faster than expected. Parking has been great, we have one designated spot and never have a problem finding another open spot near our complex. Our neighbors are respectful and we haven't had any noisiness. Monterey Pines Apartments is a great place to live. First off its in a great location you are down the street from Walmart, Rite Aid and Stater Bros. About Monterey Pines it is a nice peaceful complex to live in the neighbors are nice and there is always plenty of parking. I read other reviews about the ladies in the front office. I will say this in my experience I have had not had any issues with them at all. As long as you pay rent on time you should not have any issue. The landscaping here is beautiful as well there are plenty of trees around and if you are lucky to have one by you the sun will not hit your home. Laundry facilities are good as well do not wash Sunday night chances are you will not be able to wash or dry for a while. Also if you like to hike or have a dog there is a great hiking trail and dog park up the street. read more

Monterey pines is a very desirable property to live within. The management team Sabrina and Jennifer are both great to work with. As I entered the office both showed great precaution to safety wearing their masks. Pros: Very nice older apartments. The grounds are very well manicured and maintained. The maintenance staff are very friendly and attentive. Office personnel are very professional and friendly as well. Lots of trees and grass areas. 2 pools and jacuzzis, small gym, 2 tennis courts, volleyball court, 1 basketball hoop, outside workout area, 2 laundry facilities and plenty of parking. Cons: Cars broken into regularly (ours 5 times over the years), cars having the wheels stolen ( I have seen 7 on blocks so far) , No security gates for the property ( except around the pools), no cameras in the parking areas , and it's quite obvious that any security in the parking areas is insufficient. Rental prices are on the high end. My recommendation to anyone who would like to rent her, get locks for your wheels and a good car alarm. Or better yet don't bring a car or at least expect it to be broken into, have the wheels stolen or have your c as r stolen. read more

The office staff was always very attentive, anytime I walked into the leasing office I was greeted with smiles. The ladies in the office were always eager to help regardless of the situation. Living in Monterey Pines has been a great pleasure these last 5 years. My husband and I have always said if we were going to move, it would be into a house and not another apartment complex. We loved living here because it was in a nice quiet neighborhood, the apartment complex maintenance and landscaping was well maintained. The people that live here are very friendly and courteous to all others. No one here is loud or throwing parties, so thank goodness for that! The age group is mostly people in their late 20s- late 40s. There are also families here with kids and kids are always playing here and that is always a good sign for a safer neighborhood. The office staff is very friendly and Sabrina the manager was always a pleasure to work with if anything came up. Also as well the apartment complex is near a Stater Bros and neighborhood Walmart. Literally 3-5 minutes away drive time. A bigger Walmart is not that far away either about 7-10 minutes away. Night life is very close as well the Citrus Plaza in Redlands has a very beautiful movie theater called the Harkins with a great shopping center attached to it. If you enjoy drinks and going later into the night Downtown Redlands is 10 minutes away with a great strip of bars. Finally, it was a shame to put our 30 days in but my husband and will be moving into our new home in the next few weeks and are very excited. read more

Let me start off by saying that these are very peaceful apartments. Maintenance is very helpful and kind. It stops there.......When you step foot in the office the attitude coming off of Desiree is out of this world. At first I thought it was racial ( I am a woman of color) but upon reading these reviews I see I am not the only one. I also have two other friends in these apartment who feel the same about the women in the office. You walk in the office, she looks you directly in your eyes and wont speak. The saddest part is this is suppose to be a great community Loma Linda is noted to be a blue zone in America where people live 10 years longer than other places. Many in this community are vegetarian, health aware, as well as seven day Adventist. I have never ever ever been late on my rent. I got a complaint for talking late at night and I went in to speak with her. I asked her what I could do to prevent this because the walls are so thin. I hear people snoring, praying, talking, I even hear my neighbor and her dog at night sometime. Doesn't bother me because we live in apartments not homes. We are a wall away from someone else so it is inevitable to hear each other. As long as it is not excessive. She basically started accusing me of having someone living with me (totally off subject) (my children's father/ ex husband). I guess she was expecting him to be a dead beat and never come around, not going to happen he comes at least a few times every week to spend time with his children. She was attacking me saying he was going to have to be on the lease because hes seen here too often! She had major attitude and accused me of rolling my eyes which I did not, but I apologized anyway just to make nice with her. A few months later I got a non renewal lease notice. State of California allows tenant or manager the right to not renew lease, unless it was discriminatory or retaliation, which in her case it was both. So I had 60 days for my 2 children and I to leave and relocate. I went in the office to ask her why? Never had any issues never late on rent and she assured me that the petty complaint would not effect my renewal so I was left confused. She said she did not have to give me a reason. I called the regional manager Dan at 760 431 3080 to explain the situation. He said he would try to rectify the situation and get back with me the next day at 10 am, its been a month still no call back. I have not been able to get a hold of him again. Since then Sabrina changed her attitude towards me (she was nice when I first moved in) since I guess she pledged her allegiance to Desiree. Bottom line I am a good tenant ( I still have lunch with my manager at my old place). I am a logical women and I cant come up with any reason other than retaliation. My children and I did not deserve to have the option to stay taken from us. Tip to Manager; Desiree learn not to let your personal emotional baggage effect your communication skills. Learn how to maintain a positive, kind, welcoming demeanor with tenants regardless of your personal feelings. I am sure when you were interviewed those requirements were expected of you. I know these things because I have worked as an assistant property manager, and have worked in customer service, and public relations 10 years + being a people person is a MUST. You don't put a tenant and her children out UNLESS shes causing problems or unless shes late on rent. Not because you don't care for her. You wouldn't do that to Sabrina and her kid (who live on property) because you like her, see how that's prejudice? Sabrina how would you feel if just because you had a misunderstanding with Desiree she did not renew your lease? Desiree is on a power trip it was her way of getting back at me simply because she had the power to, how is that professional? If it was just me whatever, but I have children that love it here and now my son is heartbroken. As many other people who post reviews ABOUT YOUR ATTITUDE shouldn't you start taking heed and work on fixing your attitude??? This place "looks" nice. I say it like that because until you live here you don't know what you're getting yourself into. I have been in and out of 1 year leases for the last 10 years so I know the good and the bad when I see it. I will list the good things first since that's the shorter list. Maintenance was good. They usually were able to come same day, Grass and trees are nice and kept up, main pool was nice but usually full of leaves from the trees overhead (why they have so many trees over the pool area is beyond me), fitness center was second best I have seen from any complex in 10 years. Now on to the bad... Started with the original tour. The model was nice and when we asked to see the unit we would be renting I was told it was "not ready" and after move in day I found out why. The train tracks pretty much ran thru my patio!!!! This was hard to get used to. You don't realize the tracks are right there because the office, pool, fitness center, laundry room and model are all located on the front and the tracks are hidden behind rows of buildings and trees. This was a busy track day and night. Resident screening should be better. Every day I had to drive past a group of "thug" looking "homies" that eye ball every car that drives by. The walls are super thin and I could hear one set of neighbors fighting all the time and the other nieghbors having people over through the entire night not to mention hanging out by the stair and smoking pot everyday. My car and my roommates girlfriends' car were broken into. The placement of the a/c unit is terrible! Directly infront of the bedroom window so thats more added noise on top of the train. People drive way too fast thru the parking lot. One particular time stands out because it was the manager that lives on site! Dont ask me why she drives to the front when she lives a 1 min walk from the office lmao! As far as parking goes... there isn't enough unless you live alone and have 1 car. Unless you live by the main big lot or on the mountain side by the wall. For some reason the parking spot I was assigned was away from my unit. This did not make sense. The jacuzzi was rarely hot. The joke of a security gaurd served no purpose but to gaurd the office and make sure that noone brought alcohol into the pool area. This guy was on a major power trip and we almost had issues that would have escalated had my girlfriend not talked me down. We were sitting in the spa and this "officer" came in rude and yelling at us. He walked up to my sister and said "you better not have alcohol in here or else" as he grabbed the drink out of her hand (it was a cup of ice water btw) and smelled it. I did't really have any issues with office staff being "rude" as mentioned in other reviews. They just come across that way. The owners or management entity should seriously consider hiring more qualified people to run the business. A smile and kind demeanor go a long way. I am realistic and know that anything mentioned above can happen anywhere but what I am about to say is completely unacceptable and reason I left. As I mentioned I only lived here for 1 year. In that 1 year my A/C unit broke twice! Not once but TWO TIMES!!! Can you guess when? Yep! During the summer... they break when you need it to work. The first time can happen but my issue lies in how they handled it. It's 98 degrees outside and my unit faced the sun from 1 till sundown so it was 101 inside (I checked) and it took management 3 god forsaken days to get someone out there. Not to repair either... just to look! This was a friday and guess who doesn't work on weekends... most people! So they finally came back on Monday to repair. 6 days with no A/C during a summer heat wave! The did not offer to put us up anywhere or make any kind of offering. Turns out they didn't repair it. They just authorized a cheap and "temporary fix" because the next summer it happened again. This time it was 103 outside and 105 inside. You better believe I threw a fit and still nothing. I was attending Loma Linda Medical University and had 1 day left of school for the week and I left after that. Maintenance gave me a cute little portable a/c but required me to open a window to vent out the hot air. It was better than nothing but left asap and told them to call when they replaced the unit. I left when the lease was up and moved to a slightly further away apartment until I finish school but my experience there was not pleasant. If you're going to live here make sure you negotiate a unit towards the front near the office. I could live with all the issues but the worst ones were the A/C, breakins and train. Those were my deal breakers. Oh and the last bit of shady behavior... I'm very neat and clean and still cleaned before leaving (left it move in ready) they still kept a "cleaning deposit" and said it was for carpet cleaning. I was able to visit my exact unit 4 months later and guess what was different... no more carpet. SMH read more

I am from out of town and would like to view the model 1 or 2 bedroom apartment homes. My plan was to see the home, check the availability and leave. Instead I spent 15 minutes arguing with her why I had to make an appointment. It was the "rule." Heck there is always an exception to the rule. Especially when she had no other patrons waiting to see the complex. She said she had to go by the book. I think they hire rude, idiotic employees without a brain. is there a negative star to give? I have never experienced such rude customer service before. So I walked in the leasing office and the two girls in the front office and asked if I can take a look at their apartment model, one of the girls said that I need to get an appointment while no one was there she could've just showed me. Anyways It was about 10:30am and the girl said to come back at 1pm to take a look. I went back at 1pm and guess what again with the rudeness the girl that was supposed to show me the unit was not there she came about 10 min later. While showing me the unit the girl name starts with the K she goes i have no units available and you need to pay 100$ to get on the waitlist but they wont have anything anytime soon. So why show me the unit if they don't have anything to rent ? If the girls in the leasing office are not happy to be at work they shouldn't be working there and make life miserable for people who are new to the area. I would not recommend them at all, if you want there are other complexes near by and the people there are way nicer. read more

Go to another apartment. Should've read these reviews prior to signing the lease. Biggest regret ever that I'm stuck with their management for a whole 12 months. As long as you don't step foot in to the management office, you won't really have a problem. The leasing office tries to scam you to pay different prices, and are only sweet to you when you go in to pay rent or other new potential customers are present. The manager is so rude and treat and look at you with attitude. I caught Desiree rolling her eyes at me. I can't wait to get out of here and WON'T be recommending it to anyone. I lived here for only a year and half and all I got to say is that I DEEPLY REGRET LIVING HERE! This place has the worst management I have ever seen. I would give it negative 4 stars if I could. It looks nice at first but when you start living here the walls are so thin you can here the conversation in the following room. Then you have the annoying sound of the aircon right out your window. On top of the the girls in the office will only act nice to get you to sign the contract but throughout your living there they will make mistakes that you have to pay for. For example, I turned in the rent at the rent box on time. They didn't see it until after the deadline and they blamed me and threaten for an eviction. It was just ridiculous. They do not know what they are doing! I moved out and its been over 21 days they still haven't returned the security deposit until I called. This place looks nice online but not in person and the girls in the office are a little bit rude, let me start my explaining the application process. I came in with my wife to apply to move in because there was a one bedroom available. They took our hold $100.00 and our application fee $75.00. The girl in the office told us to call Wednesday to cancel if we did not want to move in. From the weekend to Wednesday we were told we couldn't even see the apartment because the resident move out date wasn't over yet. We find out Thursday we're approved to move in and we could see a one bedroom. My wife did go look at it and in my opinion I feel like we should get our deposit back we did not like it because everything looks old. Also another thing when we walked the property the day we applied it was very dirty around the pool and looked like the plants and grass could be cut and cleaned. I called today and I did not try to be rude in anyway about asking for the hold of $100.00 and I was told I would not receive it back. I understand the policy but how is that good customer service? We couldn't see the place until we were approved one day late? I am putting one star because of how rude the girls were in the office explaining their self. I guess if you plan on moving here it's almost like a dice roll. Be careful. Just so you know this place can use some paint and also the girls in the office need some training on technical customer handling. I could only imagine living here and having to deal with the office. My husband and I lived here for the past two years, and have nothing but good things to say about our stay here. The only reason we found ourselves moving out was the need for a bigger apartment, as we now have qdditional family members staying with us. We had a very smooth move into the apartments as the manager and other staff were on top of the game at all times. The only real issue we had these two years was our A/C unit- it would break a few times, and after unsuccessful attempts to fix it, we were given a brand new unit- we were really pleased with the work that was done. Dallas (the mainenence person in charge) and the other maintenence guys were really nice, helpful, and polite at all times. Overall, we found our neighborhood to be quiet, and the apartment complex to have great amneties, such as two hot tubs, really nice pools, the gym, and volleyball nets. There are lots of trees and fresh grass on the premises, which is a nice change from the surrounding dry landscapes. Many residents may have found it bothersome to not have their own washers and dryers, but I believe that for the price we were offered for a one-bedroom apartment, we got a pretty sweet deal. They strive and go above and beyond with helping resolve any issue that arises. They always greet you with a smile. They made our family feel like part of theirs. Cant wait to move out! I have lived here for a year and my only advice is absolutely avoid this place. I could literally hear everything happening in neighbor's room which is right next to my room and snoring sound from upstairs so just look for another quiet, well-managed property. On top of this like everyone said, female staffs in the office are all arrogant, especially one with red hair lady works on weekend by herself. I went to the office on saturday and she left office during working hours so i had to wait for her. Then when she came back, she knew that i will be moving out so she just gave an attitude when i told her that i need to sign the move out contract. read more

Retiring and moving from Northern California, we needed an apartment to rent in Southern California short-term while searching for a new house. From the application process until final checkout, the office staff (Sabrina, Sarah and Jennifer) and maintenance staff (Dallas in particular) were professional and courteous, and responded to our questions and service requests promptly. Coming from a three-bedroom house, we were a bit apprehensive about apartment living, but Monterey Pines exceeded our expectations. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable, the grounds were lovely and well-maintained, and we enjoyed the beautiful pools during the summer heat. Our neighbors were friendly and we always felt safe. We actually hated to leave once we found our house! If we ever need an apartment again in the Inland Empire area, we would definitely return to Monterey Pines. *If you read anything read the second paragraph. Lived there about 2 years and the apartments themselves are nice and the community is "nice" looking. The bedrooms do not have cable outlets so getting cable to your room without running cable lines from the living room to your bedroom, which is a hassle. They informed us that they would pay for the gas bill, not sure what they were referring to since everything is electrical. Walls are so thin that everything can be heard from your neighbors, every morning I could hear the neighbors alarm clock! Also, the a/c units are horribly located and can be heard loudly. Things that could be forgiven. When I say "nice" looking I refer to my car being broken into and nearly stolen if it wasn't for the alarm. The maintenance people are wonderful, polite, respectfull, and non intrusive when entering to fix something. The managers are rude and disrespectful. I don't know how they have the position they do. There are three, one who is polite and is just doing "her job". The other two, an older hispanic and a caucasian female are inconsiderate and so rude. After our lease was up we decided not to renew, they have us a price that would be paid monthly which was higher, understandable. I called the day before rent was due to verify the amount and was told that the price they had given us was wrong and was actually $220 more, this was over the phone so I decided to go in and speak to them. Was approached by both older managers and was told we had to pay the adjusted rate, which admittedly was a mistake on their end. They proceeded to say it was our problem to do it or we would have a balance. Rudeness and unprofessionalism all the way. Almost everytime we spoke to them about something they had this "attitude" Also, when we moved out we cleaned scribed and painted everything we could. We steam washed the carpet, covered all the few minute holes, about 4, we created Covered even more holes that were previously there. Everything was cleaned and looked as good if not better than the way we received the unit. In the end they charged is $100 for cleaning fees. Thieves all around. If they had polite and professional managers this place would get 5stars minus the car thieves. read more

My experience with the apartment units is not bad. But the office staff have been awful. They treat the maintenance people really bad. The manager doesn't respond and talk to you even if you request it unless she wants to yell and complain. The other two girls don't know anything about handling the office matters. It has been left for a bunch of kids. My car has been broken into twice in the past 6 months and nothing has been done about it. when I ask about security, no clear answer comes from them. But they are prompt to collect their rent. If the owner truly cares, he/she should get rid of these girls and hire some professionals who don't run off their hormones. read more

I have an issue with not receiving my full security deposit back. I rented this apartment for my daughter while she attends the local University. Monterey Pines took out over $100 for a "routine cleaning fee" when my daughter moved out end of July. And my daughter thoroughly cleaned the place before she moved out. There is nothing in the contract about having to pay a routine cleaning fee. Just pretty much leave it like you found it. Clean. But I see on here they have done this to others too. It isn't right. My daughter was in the apartment only 6 months because she had to move out of the other one because it had a terrible toilet leak over the Christmas break and the water wasn't remediated by professionals so mold developed in the walls; when the roommate started getting sick from the mold they finally moved my daughter and her roommate to another apartment. Their contract should honestly state a routine fee will be charged if that is what they intend on doing. I have phoned and left numerous messages for the manager to return my call since my daughter tried to get our money back with no success. No one returns my calls. read more

We lived here 2 years and wanted to leave earlier but they'd locked us in a 1 year lease. I heard about the apt drug bust there where the guy got bail and came back to break in to his apt. We'd left by then. This place has gone to hell in a hand basket. Do NOT live here....there are too many other places to live for a little more money. It's cheap for a reason. Cars being broken in to. The lights in the parking area go out and not getting fixed in time. Noise from other apts and cars speeding through the parking lot. read more
