Oh my goodness where do I start... there banana cream pie is out of this world! It's the best I have ever had , you have to preorder this pie, most of their pies they have on hand. They are all delicious. Their pastries are all amazing all fresh and delicious. My favorite is the palmier it reminds me of my childhood. This bakery is very clean. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable of the baked goods and they always go out of their way to wrap things so nicely. My favorite cake is the Lemon iced ring. There's not a better pound cake in the county !!!! My dog loves the dog cookies better than any other treat I can find anywhere else ! I have been on their email list for quite some time but just made it into the store for the first time. The smell when you first walk in is AMAZING! The kitchen is open so you can see the bakers in action and more importantly how clean everything is. The baked selections seem endless and making a choice was difficult but I managed to control myself and made my selection. The sticky bun was sweet and gooey and the dough was light and fluffy. I should have bought 2! The Texas Tornado Cookie had rich fudge on a crispy butter cookie base. I should have bought 2! The chocolate brownie cookie had a great crispy crunchy outside and a rich chocolate brownie middle. I should have bought 3! Montgomery Bakehouse has been around since 1938 so the sign says. I was really looking forward to trying this bakery. There aren't many good bakeries around anymore... Sadly Montgomery Bakehouse just doesn't meet expectations, especially considering it has been around for so long. Their attention to Covid precautions was absolutely nothing. I didn't notice the lack of a sign entering the building requiring masks of the customers but I sure noticed when I went in and saw no workers in masks, all tables available with none of them marked off to allow for social distancing. Not even any hand sanitizer or cleaning of the keypad between customers. Maybe I'll try this place again when we are past the pandemic but to me their disregard for the health of their employees and customers makes me rethink even coming back. During Covid-19 - We were in this area and wanted to grab some quick breakfast/desserts. First off, none of the workers were wearing any gloves nor masks - not even one person inside. No plastic protection or any form of Covid precautions - everything was running normal inside with cookies floating around everywhere and was using bare hands. Unfortunately the togo cannoli and éclair we got was also ultra ultra sweet and hard to the point we couldn't even finish them both. This isn't a fancy bakery, rather has simple items. We won't be recommending this place, especially when an establishment doesn't follow any mask mandates. There's been multiple reviews about the no masks and they aren't doing anything about it. DO NOT PAY AND TRUST THEY WILL ACTUALLY HAVE IT WHEN YOU ARRIVE 30 MINUTES LATER!!! The absolute worst attitude and customer service at this place. I called and asked what they had available. I was given a choice and chose one pie from what they offered. I told them I was already on my way to pick it up. I had to pay first for them to "guarantee " it was still there upon arrival. I gave them my credit card and name. I drove straight there and when I arrived they couldn't find a pie under my name, then came back and admitted they were looking for the wrong name. Not the one I had JUST gave them when I walked up to the counter. after several minutes a rather unfriendly, sour old woman came up and casually said they sold the pie I'd paid for to someone else, what else do I want. It was more her witchy attitude than anything else. Here's the deal. No apologies, no attempt to make amends. They could have been so much nicer and attempted to admit their mistake. But no. This woman was horrible. She actually blamed their snafu on me! She said I should have ordered sooner!! What? I called and asked what was there.. they said this pie was in the case. I paid for it. They took my money and still sold it to someone else. How is that the customers fault? Then she was literally smirking....and very rude. Mistakes happen, but when running a business you should attempt to make it right. A sincere apology would have done the trick. She said she tried to call me back after they sold my pie and I didn't Answer the phone so it was my fault the pie wasn't there when i arrived less than 30 minutes later! I drove to pick up the pie I paid for! This woman flunked customer service 101. Then she said she wouldn't sell me a pie at all... What??? Then i'm assuming it was the owner, a fat old guy that frankly looked too dirty to be working near food aggressively came up yelling like a thug. Trying to intimidate me. Not to apologize or try to help with a substitute pie. I got a refund, wasted valuable time driving to get there, and no pie for Thanksgiving. Next time I'll go to pie in the sky bakery. They know how to treat a customer. No pie is worth dealing with horrible staff. Don't give these "people" your business. read more

A box full of yum! I have been wanting to visit this place ever since my daughter was in college in 2015 but always thought it was out in the boonies somewhere. Today we revisited Huntsville, Tx and decided to stop in and it was a great decision. I picked up a box full of yummy I got some chocolate pecan chewy cookies that taste like brownies but not as sweet or thick which were perfect for me. The Lemon Danish were fresh and wonderful, not to tart or sweet. I picked up an elephant ear cookie, I know that is not it's name but everywhere else that's what they're called and some Linzer cookies, Texas Tornado cookies and a beautiful looking Lemon pound cake. I'll let you know what those are like on another post because I didn't want to get sick on sugar. The place is clean and every one of the staff members were very friendly. I was surprised though that nobody was wearing a mask or gloves. Not even the majority of the customers. People were sitting in eating so that was odd but to each their own. I am glad I stopped in to try all these goodies and will be back because they have so much variety and there aren't very many bakeries like this around. This bakery I stumbled upon a couple years ago and Boy am I glad I did! The tornado cookies are Amazing!!!!! And so is everything else!

The pastries are great, the Palmiers, Danish, Cinnamon rolls, fruit Danish, mini Cannoli's are all top notch. My wife had the Italian Crème cake balls and said they were dry and chewy, but everything else has been great. We love the Kolaches here, but heat them up Yourself in the micro. They're only good hot. Their Bakehouse coffee is good as well. We go here once a month or so and love it. Try the Texas Tornado cookie, it's very tasty. There are too many delicious items here, it's like being in bakery heaven. Good luck trying to choose! read more

We have had this bakery make two (basic) birthday cakes for us in the past two months and will continue to get them from here. One was chocolate with white frosting and one was yellow cake with chocolate frosting. They were both absolutely delicious. My ONLY complaint would be that I asked them if on the yellow cake they could possibly slice each of the (two) layers in half (making four layers with frosting between each) and they told me absolutely not without even hesitating. Seems odd for a bakery that says they do custom cakes and what not. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind the adamant "No" was, and no explanation was provided so I guess my choice is to just accept it and move on. They make good brownies, cupcakes, and cookies....some of their items from the case come out a little dry but still tasty. The girls working there are always nice. read more

I love their Tornado cookies, they're amazing. What worries me, every time I visit (which isn't often since Covid) is whether I'll be coming home with cookies AND Covid 19. Not one worker in a mask or gloves. No plexiglass by the register, nothing. You walk in there and it's like there's no pandemic happening. Their choice to ignore safety protocols, not only does it tell me they have no concern for their employees, but it tells me they have NO concern for their customers. Product - 2 to 3 ...While everything looked good, it's the product that matters and for me, it was just meh. I'm giving a 2 star because I used to like this place. Not sure what happened to them, new owners? Old owners stopped caring? We bought some cookies and a fruitcake for Christmas. The cookies were over cooked and hard. The fruit cake is absolutely the worst thing I've eaten in quit some time. DO NOT BUY THE FRUITCAKE! The cake was stale, which is odd because fruitcakes usually last years! Lol. Their fruitcake crumbled when cut, like it was made of sand. Rotten smelling apricot glaze? I can still smell the scent of deliciousness that wafted through the air. Hints of cinnamon, sweet molasses, and sugar certainly hard to resist the temptation to select a treat. The Montgomery Bakehouse isn't anything fancy and it really looks like a industrial warehouse painted yellow with a couple of displays for presenting the goodies. Good- It's located right next door to Mckenzie's BBQ. It's as hard to miss as it is to resist. I had quite the difficult time deciding between an assortment of cookies, little cakes, big cakes, pies, and fresh baked sticky buns YUM! After wavering between the oversized Linzers, perfectly baked oatmeal and raisin, and a ringer called the cowboy; I decided to get two. HA! They are only a dollar each so perfect for anyone's pocket book. I settled on the the ringer and the perfectly baked oatmeal. They were both moist and tasty. I must admit I normally don't like to buy store bought cookies because I am hard to please. I don't like them undercooked in fact, I love them a little well done, almost burnt, and these don't disappoint. The cowboy had pecans and chocolate and I believe molasses. Worthy of two stars on it's own. My friend selected a sticky pecan bun and a cup of coffee. I didn't hear any complaints as he appeared to thoroughly enjoy both. The staff is very friendly and patient. I think they are used to people taking some time to decide. Bad- Kinda sparse in there and you will be thankful that it's painted nice and bright, otherwise it could come across as a little too utilitarian. I suppose they don't expect you sit in here, as I don't recall seats. It's certainly just a bakery and not designed to be anything more, so don't go in expected to have high tea. I say that because even the coffee is simply pre-made and sitting in containers like you see in hotel lobbies. Ugly- Nothing to report. Everything was superb and certainly tasted like grandma used to make. Would I go back? That depends on if they start making those cookies called black and whites. They are my favorite!!! I would have an excuse to return for those. Otherwise, I think for treats like this I prefer to go somewhere that I can sit and enjoy them inside or outside. My car broke down in their parking lot. Staff was very nice and understanding. Took tow truck driver almost an hour to get there. Once he did he started process of getting my car loaded up. This guy comes out screaming and hollering at us because we were blocking the parking lot. Nothing Really we could have done to prevent this. Come to find out this guy was the owner and he was throwing profanities at us and belittling us. Moral of the story don't do business here. It an hour of need this man decided it was ok to be disrespectful and belittle my humanity. The next time my transmission goes out I'll make sure it's not at his establishment. read more

Extremely disappointed this year with our pies for Thanksgiving. I ordered the pecan and it was so over cooked that when we cut into it we immediately threw it away. I also ordered a banana cream that tasted like boxed banana pudding. Again, cut one piece and threw it away. Third pie was peach and wasn't horrible but certainly wasn't worth what I paid for it since it was obviously canned peaches. I've always ordered our holiday pies from Montgomery Bakehouse and have always been very happy until this last order. I'm certainly going to be going elsewhere for the next holiday. Fruit Cobbles and Pies should be GOOD in Texas! Montgomery Bakehouse didn't disappoint. Got 10" Cherry Pie. What a beautiful, beautiful crust. Flakey and Tender, their trick is to roll the dough on the thick side. Oh So Good! You can call in and order too, apple, peach, blueberry, lemon, chocolate, the list goes on and on. Absolutely amazing. Oh the Boston Cream Pie is to die for and they have a extreme chocolate cake that is well no words describe how wonderful it is. They are so reasonably priced.
