Yes, I am aware that they don't sell "HOGS", but it was an absolutely FANTASTIC option for the basic inspection that I needed. Called in the a.m. to check to see if they had any availability and I was informed that they don't take reservations for safety checks . . . Walk in only . . . No problem: I arrived about 4 p, was checked in immediately and was pau with the inspection process in about 15 minutes or so. As an Indian rider I try to get to the local dealer whenever possible. This is the local dealer. Like some dealership they are multi-line having Polaris, Suzuki, Husqvarna, electric vehicles and a couple of off road bike makers. Their Indian section consisted of a few Challengers and a few more Scout type bikes. The obligatory Indian branded shirts, jackets, gloves and accessories where present. Then come the dealer tees. There were 2 different scenes on the tees depicting recent and ancient history of the area. Volcanos the created the islands and Pearl Harbor with a scene of the USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri. Signifying the beginning and end of WWII in the Pacific. Nice... But these guys really score on customer service. Everyone we contacted in the store smiled and were eager to assist. They showed a "I like my job" face. A refreshing change, I felt welcomed and my business was appreciated. No wonder they've been in business for so long. My 5's go to best in class. So for the dealership nothing special(except the tees). But customer hits the mark. If I lives on the island this would be my go to. read more

My wife and I are considering taking the MSF Basic Rider Course at LCC after the Holidays, and one of the pieces of gear that we're required to provide on our own is a helmet. I had done a lot of research and was interested in looking at Shoei helmets, and on the recommendation of a co-worker we checked out Montgomery Powersports. Located next to Liliha Bakery on Nimitz Hwy, the place was easy to find and plenty of parking was available during our Saturday afternoon visit. Entering the showroom, there was an impressive inventory of both Suzuki and Indian motorcycles. We made our way to the opposite side of the showroom where the riding gear was and quickly found the helmets. Speed and Strength appears to their main staple but there were also Arai and Shoei on prominent display. I approached employee Dave and asked if it was okay for us to try on the display helmets and he said, "Yes" and walked with us back to the Shoei helmets on display. I had an idea of the size helmets we needed, and Dave helped guide us through some self tests to check the fit. Dave also showed us the Arai helmets to compare with the Shoei and explained the differences. The Shoei RF-SR was more in our price range as new riders on a budget, but I have to admit I liked the fit better of the Arai Vector 2. Montgomery's prices were in line with online competitors, but for an important investment like a helmet and being newbies to motorcycle gear we'd prefer to have the assistance of a knowledgeable local merchant. Unfortunately, we weren't ready to make a purchase during this visit but we appreciated the information Dave offered and we'll be back once we get enrolled in the MSF class. read more

Went to Montgomery for a couple of different services: plugging a rear tire, safety check, and most recently, replacing rear tire. All in all, the service was hit and miss - the parts and sales people are usually really helpful and nice. The mechanics are on the other end of the spectrum - they're usually a bit more on the conservative side - get the job done and get out (at least thats what I was able to pick up on). All personnel are knowledgeable and more than qualified to service any bike/rider. The reason I am writing this review and why I removed a star is actually because of the most recent tire replacement. I dropped it off in the morning, went on a hike, and a few hours later got the call to pick it up - great! Everything worked great, but my chain slack was very very loose. My owners manual puts chain slack between 0.8 inches - 1.2 inches. My chain slack is well over 3 or 3.5 inches once I got the bike back. I'm partially to blame because I haven't checked it until 2 weeks after I got the bike back from service, and I've been riding it with a loose chain with no problems. I just find it odd how the chain slack specs are right in the swing arm, and yet I received the bike back with the slack way out of spec. Easy fix I can do myself - but that just bothered me in hindsight. EDIT: just tried to loosen the rear axel nut to adjust my chain slack and I couldn't even budge it. I don't know if it's torqued to spec, because I literally put my weight on a breaker bar and it would not budge. Gonna need to find a bigger bar. Other than that though, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT GREAT EXPERIENCE FROM MONTGOMERY. THE OWNER IS REALLY FRIDNLY, THEIR MOTORCYCLE MAINTANENCE CLASS IS A GREAT WAY TO GET ACQUAINTED WITH DIY WRENCHING. No shit I wanna pick up my bike. Guys name is jacob. Came to pick up my bike and handed me the bill to be paid at the cashier. Came back to him and told me the keys are on the bike. Not even a thank you, no explanations about their work on the bike. Can't even have the decency to hand me my keys? Smh I'm done going to stealerships for my bikes service and repair. read more

Needed to change the tires on the motorcycle. They were able to order the exact set recommended by the owner's manual. Went with that option as the labor rate is better as opposed to bringing in your own tires for the shop to mount. Went into the service department to check in for the 9:30am tire change appointment and was quoted about an hour and a half. I traveled alone, so I walked towards home and walked back around an hour and a half later. The motorcycle tires were not changed. The bike was moved into the garage but I could see the smooth tire surface meant the worn tires were still on the rims. I asked about the hour and a half time quote and was told something along the lines there was a miscommunication about the time frame to complete the service. They apologized and offered the couch seating in the sales room while the tires were mounted. This was an additional 40 minutes after returning around 11:20am. The motorcycle seems to be riding okay. I'm a bit unsure as to why an price estimate wasn't emailed beforehand explained by the service rep. I'm also a bit frustrated as to why the tire change hadn't started by the time the time quote had elapsed. read more

Came in for a tire change at 9:30AM. Made an appointment and reserved my tire, service was pretty slow but I understand things can get busy. They estimated it would be done around noon. Came back around 1:30PM and saw that my bike was ready but I did not get a call that that I could come pick it up. They also charged me $100 for labor when the price listed on the website was $73.30 for labor with tires purchased from them. Pretty disappointed with the service this time, had much better service during a previous tire change back in the summer of 2020. This will be the last time I get services from here. read more

Shout out to Rob! I called over the phone to get oil and maybe a filter for my moto, and Rob told me they had a complete kit for my bike. He got me pricing, availability (he said whenever I show up, it'll be there for me) and great customer service. I told him when I arrived I was going to look around for my items, he led me in the right direction. Then when I kept looking around, he waited patiently for me to come up to him to ask questions, which is always a nice feeling since having someone breathing down my neck at a dealership is never my favorite. I haven't been back to this place in years. I bought a Sportster from a friend who only had work done on it by the dealership here in Honolulu. I took it for a safety check to Montgomery. When I went to pick it up the service manager told me that "someone put the wrong brake fluid in your bike and it needs to be replaced along with all of the associated plumbing for the brake system. He wrote me up an estimate for over $1,000. Naturally I was skeptical since it didn't seem likely that Cycle City would have used the wrong brake fluid for anything. I took it to my regular mechanic for a second opinion and he told me "no, you have the right brake fluid in your bike." In short, beware of anything the service manager at Montgomery tells you. I don't know for sure but it sure sounds like he works on commission. Service managers come and go and this was several years ago but if the company puts up with that sort of customer service, I say beware. read more

This review is for the gear selections. I should've came here to look for gears and helmets before buying it online. I was surprised at the variety of gears offered and found a helmet or 2 that I liked and will come back to buy it. Everyone was friendly and willing to help me and answer my questions about everything. They just did not have my size for motorcycle boots and even if they offered to order it, i would feel bad if it did not fit me. They have all different bikes from the sports to dirt bikes but it seems they are known for their beautiful Indian cruisers and I was told they can service all bikes even if it wasn't bought there so it nice to know they welcome everyone and their bikes for servicing. We are having our bike serviced here for the first time, and so far we are highly impressed!! The employees are all so very laid back and approachable without seeming like snobs or hardcore bike enthusiast "know-it-alls". What we mean by that is: there are people at all levels of experience with motorcycles or ATV's, and these guys don't stand there acting like an ass and they don't try to sell you something that isn't right for you. We've gone to cycle city a lot, and it can seem a bit intimidating because everything is Harley Davidson, and a lot of Harley Riders like to carry a certain image. That doesn't mean those folks aren't polite and approachable. The store is huge and the selection is just outstanding! Each time I've ordered parts it took about five days or so, and they called my cell phone to let me know. They have a nice selection of bikes here...we highly recommend it! I went in to get a safety check, they said my bike was ready, paid the cashier , picked my documents. Went to my bike and was ready to ride off . I ch just coked the safety check month and it was still the old one ??? Went back in ti ask the cashier what did I pay for? Since the new sticker was not there. I was told I had to go back to the service dept. Went back to the service dept and asked why the new safety check sticker wasn't there since I paid for it. I was then told my bike didnt pass because I needed a new front tire and when I get a new tire I have 30 days to try again. So my question the service dept was... dont you guys sell tires?? Was then directed to the parts dept. Ordered a new tire with Dave. Dave called me when he said the new would come in. Went back and got the safety check. This place's garage is a total rip-off. They told me the other day it would cost 2-3hrs of labor to change the spark plugs in my 2017 Suzuki Burgman 650. I youtubed it and did it in less than 30 minutes my first time. Burgman runs great... I don't advise against buying a bike from those guys, but I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NEVER bringing your bike in for maintenance or even repairs. I worked with Montgomery Powersports to secure two brand new motorcycles to use as props in a photoshoot for another client. Three things to keep in mind 1) the photoshoot was not for Montgommery, 2) I didn't purchase these bikes, I borrowed them. 3) I have never done business or even been in Montgommery before. That said, what I experienced was a level of customer service that would normally be reserved for a VIP. They couldn't have been more gracious, accommodating, or helpful. They acted like they were on my production team, going through the various models with an art director's eye for color and shape to help me determine which bikes would photograph best. They trailored the bikes and delivered them to the set on time. When they arrived it was obvious they had been meticulously detailed - absolutely gorgeous. The guys that delivered the bike even offered to stay and help out. If my superlative treatment was any indication of how a "real" customer is taken care of, Montgomery is where to buy and service your motorcycle or ATV. read more

I just got my 1,000 mile maintenance done for my sportster and their service was exceptional. Dennis was the one who helped me out at the counter and was very informative and gave an excellent rundown of what maintenance was done to the bike. I was quite pleased with the amount of time it took to get it done. When he told me it'll be done in a few hours, it was done in a few hours. Prices are one of the most competitive on the island, I think it was about $95 an hour for labor. I also got a military discount on parts (parts only, not labor). I haven't fully assessed the quality of the maintenance yet but so far so good. I don't have any issues yet. Location is very convenient, easy to find and easy access from either side of Nimitz highway. Lots of parking too. Bottom line, I would definitely get my bike serviced here again. read more

During my first visit staff was nice and helpful. I ended up purchasing a moped cover, lock and special ordering a helmet and was told that it would be in 10 days later. That was June 5th. After calling and even stopping in on the 17th I was told that the helmet was still on order. While I was a little mad I figured it was back ordered or shipping from the mainland was taking a little longer. No big deal. Well today we get the call that the helmet had finally arrived. When we got to the shop and tried said helmet on. It is too big. When we asked original sales associate about sizing he assured us that it would fit. Well it did not. Then our current associate begins to tell us that some companies require a certain amount before a shipment can be processed. Again understandable, keep shipping low. What I am confused about is if said company required a certain amount why was I, the customer, not told at time of purchase, or when I called 10 days later to check on my order, or even when I was in the store on the 17th. Which was the day posted on the shipping label for when the product was actually ordered. Overall not the worst service ever. But management should have a better policy in regards to special orders and it should be passed down to sales associates to be able to inform the customer. If I would have known it was going to take 22 days instead of 10 I might have looked else where. But after no information or contact from the store itself I will not be shopping there again. read more
