this shop is terrible. we dropped our bikes off on wednesday May 27th and were told they would look at the bikes that week. When we came to bring our third bike there on Saturday May 30th they said they haven't even looked our bikes. a week passes and we don't hear anything back from them. then more weeks pass and we're asking for an update just to hear the same thing we were told before "we will look at it" i picked up all three bikes on July 8th and absolutely nothing was fixed. these guys are a waste of time. if you want your bike fixed by an honest man i would recommend Dave who is just down the road by the hospital. there were more problems on these bikes from sitting for over a month. this shop deserves a zero star. read more

Best dirtbike shop on Oahu! It reminds me of the Yamaha dealer I grew up in. I stopped ordering online. The prices are great and stock new ride gear, tires and all the fluids for my bike. They sell Yamahas, Stark varg, and electric motion e-bikes. They give great advise and have fast bike service and safety inspections. It's a one stop shop. Don't tell anyone, but the owner Sam is a super nice guy! He will ride with less experienced guys and show them the ropes. A lot of people just won't do that when you ride on his level. The staff was very helpful and easy to work with. I have an older dual sport and they agreed to rebuild the original 1993 forks for me. During the rebuild the lower tubes were discovered to be unusable. They allowed me to order new tubes and have them delivered to the shop. They called me when the parts arrived and were able to assemble like new. I am very thankful to Hawaii rides and will continue to do future business with them and referrals. Last note their labor price was very honest and same as I was quoted on the phone no changes although it was more work than a standard rebuild. read more

We were trying to get a safety check for my wife's motorcycle that we had shipped back when we moved home to Hawaii from the mainland. She tried to call the brand dealership. They gave her an appointment several weeks out. She mentioned that the bike was hard to shift, and was told it would be $300-$400 just for diagnosing the issue. In contrast, Hawaii Rides gave us a same day appointment, and let us know we could probably get the registration done at the Wahiawa DMV as a walk-in if they weren't busy, and by the time we got back from the DMV 15 minutes later, they had fixed what turned out to be a bent shift linkage and didn't even charge us for the repair. This is five-star epic quality service. So glad the other guys gave us the runaround, saved SO much money! read more

This shop should have pretty much anything you would need for dirt or road Moto, and recently they even expanded to electrics. The owner can seem grumpy at times, but I think it's from dealing with so many knuckleheads. He's a knowledgeable guy, unreal rider and beware if you ever find yourself on a ride with him I call him the "blacksmith" because he will put the hammer down. Overall, if you need parts, gear or repairs there isn't anywhere else on the island I'd go. They have some new bikes for sale there and can order anything and get it quick and imo cheaper than anywhere else I've tried. read more

I just got my 2020 R1 inspected for its annual safety check. Avoid this establishment like the plague. Very unprofessional technician failed my stock bike due to supposedly not having reflectors. I walked outside and pointed them out and he wanted to argue with me. I honestly think he was discriminating against me because I was in uniform. I will never give them my business again. The funny thing is, they passed my stock R1 last year. Different tech different standards = wasted time and money $. Don't do business with this company. BAD BAD BAD!!! I went to to store for an battery emergency and they sold me a empty battery without tested, I couldn't go to work and loose my day and money. When I came back to the store the owner told me I need to charge the battery at home and he didn't want to return my money, he said was my responsibility charge the battery...... I think for them is normal to sell empty batteries because he wasn't surprised about my complaint. He sold me a expensive empty battery and his argument was he is not Cotsco or walmark to return the money of the costumers..... The owner is rude and the store is expensive and bad products.... You think that the employee would know something about the products they sell but this person was so lack luster and so unhelpful it destroys the reputation that other people try to highlight for this business. They did great work on my 2002 YZ 125. I took my bike in to them to get service because my carburetor was leaking. They took my bike in right away. Most places you have to setup an APPT. I like that they were fast. They called me the same day. They changed my throttle cable, adjusted my float, sealed my intake manifold, and tuned my bike. I took my bike home rode it for a bit bike rode great but would not idle without giving throttle. I returned my bike to them. Their mechanic tested my bike and said that he would work on it. They called me about two days later and said that it was ready. My bike now idles and has no leaks. Well worth it taking it to them. They didn't charge me a arm and a leg. I shop there pretty frequently and know their prices for gear, parts, and tires are great. Some items from them are even cheaper than online. read more

I called to set up an appointment but they only take walk-ins. Sucks but I understand why. The guy who helped me was nice and helped me with all my questions. Seems fairly priced. I'm going to do an oil change, safety, and change my tires in a couple days so I'll probably write a review about how the service went. Hopefully it goes well because I think this is one of the only places to do a motorcycle safety check and service near Mililani. WENT BACK FOR SERVICE Went back and did my service and I'd drop them to 2 stars because of the following reasons. They don't seem that on it. I dropped off my bike to do a safety check and said if the tires need to be changed to go ahead. They needed my phone for my insurance card since I didn't have physical card for my new used bike. When I came to pick it up because they said they were done, the guy who checked me in wasn't sure what work I had done and gave me my keys and I paid. I noticed that he didn't give me my paperwork for the safety but I check my bike in case they put it in the storage. It wasn't there and there was no sticker so I went back inside. I just thought they did the safety since I showed him my insurance card on my phone earlier. He said oh he forgot that I had to show my card and that the safety guy had to do it...as in they didn't even do any part of the safety. So I had to wait another 20-30 min for something I specifically dropped my bike off for?! The people in the front are kind of friendly but also kind of eh. The safety guy is also really not friendly at all. Not that he has to be friendly but there are enough options on the island that I can take my bike and business elsewhere. I spent $600 dollars to do an oil change, change my tires (Dunlop q3 sportmax), and a safety. For that kind of money I do expect way better service. I'll probably change my oil on my own next time and get tires somewhere else. read more

Shetty place shetty customer service. I called for a quote to change my tires they tell me $65 a tire mounted and balanced. Ok I go there they tell me leave the bike and pay is later. When I go to pick up my bike they charge me $75 a tire plus a extra 15 for tossing the old ones and they said when I dropped it off 2 hours but took 2 days FOR A TIRE CHANGE and they wasn't busy! I'd like to share MY experience with Sam over at Hawaii Rides. A few months ago, a friend of mine suggested that I hit up Hawaii Rides to see if they were bringing in the new SP edition Mt-09. Spoke to Sam the owner, and he said that he might be getting one in the upcoming months! I was super stoked, and told him that I wanted the bike. Mind you, I didn't drop a deposit, or anything. It was just my word over the phone. Fast forward a few months and my bike gets here. I'm an idiot that thought I had more time to get my finances sorted out, so I ask Sam to hold the bike for 2 weeks, and he agrees. 2 weeks turned into over a month, and I still didn't have all the cash yet. I explained my situation, and offered to drop a deposit, since I didn't know how much longer I needed. He was understanding and told me that I could drop whatever amount to chip away at the balance. Luckily, in the next few days, I did get my finances sorted, and paid the bike off. The day I paid the bike off, I actually forgot an envelope on the counter that contained a few hundred bucks! I called the next morning, hoping for the best, and Sam told me that he had the envelope with the money, and that he'd give it to me the day I picked up the bike, today. I was blown away by his honesty. He could have lied about not finding the envelope, but he didn't. Because of this experience, I will give Hawaii Rides as much business as I can, and if I'm ever buying a new bike, he will be the first person that I call. I specifically asked this because of COVID & because it is a Christmas gift so I couldn't bring my son in to fit him. The person I spoke to on the phone said yes, they can exchange it as long as it wasn't worn out or anything. I repeated the question and asked 2x to make sure. The guy said yes. I drive there today & I go to purchase a helmet and ask to see if this would generally fit my sons age. A white guy behind the counter chirps in and says it's hard to tell cuz sizes run different. And it's all sales final. Told the guy I specially called yesterday to ask if I could do exchanges and he said yes. The white guy just replies with idk who told you that but we don't. Ridiculous. Inform your employees your policies so customers don't waste their time. Smh read more

Very disappointing!!!! My first experience with Hawaii Rides was amazing. I had my Burgman 650 towed to there shop because it would not start. I was very apprehensive because I usually patronize Montgomery Powersports. I live in Mililani so finding a good shop close to home was imperative. To my surprise when Hawaii Rides called me and told me it was only a loose fuse I was completely impressed by their honesty. Furthermore when they said that there would be no charge for their service I immediately told them to give a oil change. Fast forward to yesterday, my Burgman was wobbling all over and felt unresponsive and heavier than usual. I dropped of my bike and of course was worried about the cost of the fix. Hawaii Rides called me and told me it was only a bad, under inflated tire. I thought great it won't be too crazy. I was then quoted $120 for a front tire which he had to order!! I was at work and didn't process it at first so I agreed and rushed back to work. After thinking about and checking Amazon I found the same tire he recommended at $70 with free shipping!!! So I called back and told the gentleman on the phone that I checked my records and paid $69 last year for the back tire. He said well this isn't the back tire in a condescending manner.i said I will provide my own tire in that case,since he quoted me a $50 mounting fee. My first call was to Montgomery Powersports who had a Chinese tire for $65. Quality differences aside I ordered it had my girlfriend pick it up and deliver it to Hawaii Rides. Today I went to pick up my bike and was told the fee would be $80 because I brought my own tire. Finally the gentleman I spoke to on phone came out to tell me he was concerned for my safety and he was only quoting the price from the book. Very disappointing!!! read more

I wrote a review last year after my experience here. They still have great service, actually answer the phones, and actually make appointments for safety inspections. I was able to get an appointment on the same day that I called. Sam made the inspection as soon as I arrived. Last year, I mentioned that the two big ones in Honolulu didn't even return calls or respond to online attempts to make an appointment. I live in Hawai'i Kai, and it is worth the trip to go to Hawaii Rides. read more

Last weekend I went into Hawaii rides for a safety check. The owner came back awhile later and told me that there were two minor things that needed fixed. One was brakes and the other was a master cylinder issue that caused my break light to stay on sometimes when it wasn't supposed to. He told me it would be done in about 45 minutes. They came and got me and told me that my bike was done. For the master cylinder the owner said they cleaned it out and it was good to go. I paid for the services and went outside. I looked at my chain guard cover, where they put the safety sticker last year, and the old one was still there. I went back and asked the owner what happened. He said that they put it on the rear fender. I looked at the new location, which was straight on my paint. I asked why they would do that, and why they wouldn't put it over the last one. He said they could redo it, but I would have to pay for a whole new safety check. I kept asking why they would put a sticker on someone's paint job, and he said I was "bitching". I asked him if this is how he treats paying customers and he never apologized. I went home and took the safety sticker off. I knew that I would now have to pay for a new one, but I would never return to Hawaii Rides. I called Harley Davidson off of Nimitz Highway and made an appointment for a new safety inspection. So far I had already spent $75 at Hawaii Rides for the brakes and the cleaning of the master cylinder. Fast forward three days later. My bike failed at Harley because of the master cylinder. It ended up costing me $230 to fix it, because they said it had a large amount of corrosion on it. I wasn't upset with Harley, I was upset that I spent money at Hawaii Rides and they supposedly "passed" my bike. Hawaii Rides continues to get horrible reviews on Yelp. And I continue to see a trend of horrible comments about the owner. It does not seem like he cares about customer satisfaction, he only cares about padding his pockets with cash. I have never dealt with an owner or supervisor that was more unprofessional. Be cautious about going to Hawaii Rides. I would never recommend them for anything. read more

I called ahead to make sure I could get a state safety inspection. When I rode to the store they told me they don't do inspections on Saturdays. They couldn't have cared less that I called ahead and they wasted my time. 1. Don't waste your customers' time. 2. Stuff happens. I get it. As a business, at least acknowledge when you screw up. A simple "sorry" would have gone a long ways. 3. Why wouldn't you perform inspections on Saturdays, when (presumably) most of your customers have the time off work to get this done? read more
