I asked for a drink menu and the waitress said they didn't have one. There is a drink menu online on their website. It advertises "Monticello Premium Daiquiris" at $14 each. I ordered a Frozen Peach Crown. I was charged Hennessy -$13.25 and Margarita Peach - $2.00 - It was weak and not frozen! Why do they charge a Gratuity on 1 ticket? The Waitress would have gotten a higher tip if they hadn't added that to my ticket! Also, charged $3 for a bottle of water. It was cold like the fish on the buffet. I have no plans of returning! Everyone here was extremely rude and I'm not sure why. First at the door I kept getting questioned on if I was there the night before. I kept saying I had literally never been there before. My first experience at Monticello Atl and I really am a fan. We came on a Thursday night for the free comedy night. The setup was really nice and the wait staff was super kind and attentive. We sat near the stage and ordered our drinks. My friend had the lemon drop and I started with a Corona and ended with the Raspberry Hennessy Margarita, both delicious! Also, the fried wings and mac n cheese. So delicious and made to order. The comedian were all awesome. Funny, and had great originality. I want to come back here on a date night. Quick story: so we came here for one of our friends birthday. We got there around 7ish, the place is packed! We walk around just to see the place, it was my first time here. We are confused by all the reserved signs, we ask but we get vague answers. Alright cool we go back to the front put our name on the list for a table. So we decide to go to the cigar area because we were very hungry and there was open seating over there. By the way, the hostess never mentioned that to us. We go to an open table and after about 15min, a waitress FINALLY comes over and asks if we needed anything. Well, considering that we have no menus, no food or drinks in front of us, we obviously want something. So she brings menus over and we order appetizers. Waitress didn't come back to check on us until she brought out our appetizers, which was about 25min later. We then ordered drinks and entrees. Waitress never came back to clear table, get us proper eating utensils, follow up, nothing. Also, we were sitting in the cigar lounge area and when we asked if we could order a hookah (from another waitress because ours was mia), they said we couldn't have hookah in that area. Okay.... so all this nasty cigar smoke and weed is ok, but no hookah in here, ok got it! Our entrees came and we asked for boxes and the check, because we knew we wouldn't see our waitress for another hour or so. Then the bill came. We were charged $2 for removing avocados from the Cobb salad, charged $2 for a mixed drink on top of the $14 cost of the drink. Charged a gratuity and a round to the nearest quarter fee. Wtf. Ok cool, paid and left. Won't go back unless picking up pre ordered food to go. Oh and we finally got our text about the table being ready after we left the venue (roughly 2.5 hours later). Wow. First time and would visit again. Went for Happy Hour 5-8p w/a $10 cover for the all u can eat buffet (hostess will ask and provide you w/a ticket). Let me tell you, it's worth it!!!! You can go back as many times as you like and the food is food, food!!! From salads to seafood and items in between. Would love to go back and check out a few items on their menu. The vibe was cool, music was great and the establishment is fairly big. The main area is where the buffet is set up with plenty of seating, stage for their live entertainment, bar and a dance floor. I like Monticello! We arrived on a Saturday at 7:00ish. Valet was $10 (to my surprise), but at least it was quick and easy. We were seated quickly and greeted by our server almost immediately. One note: you have to be 21 to enter the premises on Saturday evenings and the bouncer asked to see our IDs. We started with the blacked shrimp spinach dip and it was excellent; creamy and flavorable with plenty of shrimp. For my entree, I ordered the Slammin Salmon with mashed potatoes instead of rice. The salmon alone deserves 5 stars I only removed one star because my hubby was unhappy with the cognac selection (lack of any XO). After dinner we moved to the balcony for good music and wine. Stopped to this spot while in town to smoke a Cigar and try their Lobster Mac n cheese, which was highly recommended. My friend and I were in shock when told we had to pay $20 to come into Cigar lounge because they are having a concert (in a totally different room with wristband entry). I don't understand why we have to pay to go in the lounge....and, we can't order food. We have to pay additional $25 to eat the Buffett in the secured concert room. This is the dumbest thing ever. How do you shut down the entire spot when they are all separated. I'm so disappointed because I was so excited to check out this spot, but I won't be back because it's too complicated just to smoke a Cigar. Make sure you call before coming to make sure no concert going on. Keep in mind the $20 is not an issue if we were able to go to the different rooms, but to pay $20 just to smoke...not!! 2nd review from the end of the night!! Almost heaven. There aren't too many places you can go in America to dine and have a premium cigar in the same place. They do both well. I had the Slammin Salmon and the taste did not disappoint. The cigar selection had something to offer every pallet, though my all time favorite was not on the 'menu'. I nonetheless was able to thoroughly enjoy my visit. Morgan made me feel at home as she greeted me and seated me close to the walk-in humidor. Then Cookie took over and took my order and delivered the meal in a fashion that rivals most of the fine dining places I've visited. The cigar prices are reasonable. I've paid a lot more in other places. The gent tending the humidor was both personable and knowledgeable about the product they stocked. Decided to go for comedy night. The comedians were decent. I took my husband this time. The wings were ok. He didnt really care for them. Our server was great! Some of the things we wanted from the menu were not available. For example regular drinks that were on the menu the didn't actually have. As far as the atmosphere when you go for comedy night you can reserve before hand but it doesn't mean anything when you get there. They seat people on a first come first serve basis. It was free to get in for comedy. Also, if you are a party of 2 they will seat you with other people that you dont know. Lastly, what I didn't like. It was so smoky in there from cigars, hookah and what ever people were smoking that I had a hard time breathing. If you dont like smoke this is not the place for you. This time and last time I left I smelled of smoke in my hair and everything. For that reason I probably wont be back here for a good while. Im not sure if they have times like the regular restaurant hours where they dont allow smoking but if so that would be a better time for me to go . I forgot to mention the receipt. Some friends and I went here after a baby shower to chill and continue socializing. The guys wanted to have a cigar n a few drinks. This was a Sunday night and it was dead! We saw a few people pop in and out there was maybe 25 people there and our party was 12. The "bouncer" at the door was an a-hole. Very insulting and unprofessional. He told me my shoes were bedroom slippers and they were not. Just because they were flat with feathers. Said we don't allow that in our establishment but clearly there was no one even in there. People with tennis shoes and T-shirts, jeans and caps...seemed like a typical sports bar. Nothing special. They had a dj playing random music and a game on. The bathroom appeared clean but toilet seats were broken, it was janky in there as far as lighting and overall needed an upgrade for this "upstanding" establishment. We spent an hour there and left. Was in town visiting to see Raheem Devaughn Live at this venue! I experienced one of the worst services ever! Not only were the waitstaff walking around, taking orders with no masks, by the time they arrived at our table, it was late and we were only able to order and receive 1 drink. The worst of it, they didn't even charge for my drink, they charged someone else's $100+ order on my tab and Lost my card! The Manager was not of great help and begrudgingly cancelled out the charge after my constant insistence. I had to immediately call my bank to verify and cancel my card! Waited for an hour with promises that our drinks would come and they never did. Had to ask an entirely different server for our order and finally got it. Went on a Saturday for the comedy night. The area for comedy is really small and gets crowded fast. I was disappointed the menu was so small. I thought it would be more food to choose from. I only got fries. Food took a while to come out. Don't buy the daiquiris. They are not real daquiris it's more of snow cone. Half of it is ice that you can't drink in a straw. Liquid just sits at the bottom. They are not using a daquiri blender because it didn't mix the ice. It was premium daquiri as well and I didn't taste any alcohol. I then ordered an apple martini thinking it would be better. It was served to me in a champagne glass with a lemon. That was not a martini. It just tasted like some flavored liquor and it wasn't good. There is a club in the back that was playing loud music so sometimes you can't hear the comics that well. Most of the comics weren't funny as well. I know that's not the clubs fault but the drinks are bad and the atmosphere is sub par. I have no plans on returning. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is what you'd expect for most city night clubs. There was a radio DJ broadcasting live for Majic 107.5 there on the night that we went. He was kind of a constant hype man throughout the night. We were towards the back of the club, near the dance floor and hookah tables. We stayed for most of the night, so we saw the full transition from it being no one on the dance floor to it being completely crowded. We went on a Saturday night, so I was a lively crowd and the choice for the DJ fit the crowd. The crowd for this particular place is "grown and sexy" so there weren't too many young folks (20s - early 30s) at this club. Keeping true to the sports bar nature of the place, the club area also had flat screens displaying popular football games throughout the night. At one point, during the night, there was a fight that was about to happen. I will say that it did take a while for security to approach the situation. Prices: I'll start off by saying valet is required and it's $5. I won't lie. The prices are kind of ridiculous in my opinion for the drinks. No way in the world a bottle of water should be $3, while a regular fountain drink is $3.50. That's a problem. The food prices are fairly high as well, but you can find some items like salad, pasta and wings for around $10. Which is a fair price in the city. Food Quality: I'd been invited to a VIP birthday celebration, so I had the opportunity to try a wide range of food. I tried the sampler, which had an array of fish, calamari, egg rolls and wings on the platter. It was just ok, and nothing in particular from that platter "wowed" me. I also tried the Jerk wings. I was fine with just trying one. After a while, the taste becomes too much. Those are also kind of spicy and the seasoning is strong, so ask for ranch to go along with them. For my main dish, I chose to try the Cajun Seafood Pasta. I purchased the half size. It had a wide variety of seafood within the dish. It tasted like the seafood was pretty fresh, like it'd just been caught. So no complaints for this dish. It was also a fair price. The half sized filled me up, and I couldn't finish the entire dish. That could also be because I had a handful of appetizers early in the night as well. Even of you don't have any appetizers before, I believe the half size would still be a good enough size. Service: Not too many complaints. Our waitress did a fair job. From what I could see, she was serving two VIP birthday tables, that had about 10 people at each. So, her time was definitely spread thin. Overall: This was an ok night. It's a nice place for the "grown and sexy" to go out, turn up and splurge. If you're looking for an excellent seafood experience only, then maybe try somewhere else. The establishment is huge. So if the club scene is not for you, there is also a quieter sports bar area in the front, cigar rooms, and a patio. I only experienced the club scene. read more
