The people are pretty pleasant. Thy gave us free dessert. It was hard putting it down seeing as we were so full. I ordered the pork loin and the bf had the cheese steak sample platter and hot wings (too hot for me). With his platter he got three minis..the rocky (hot!!!!), the authentic and the cheesesteak hoagie. Everything was just..uh.. great. Pork was tender, the rolls were delightful. Outside of Philly, this is the best cheesesteak I've had. If you are a Philly native, like me, you will love this place. They have the Eagles games on tv and serve up incredible steaks along with delicious pizza, not to forget the wonderful draft selection. The atmosphere is warm and inviting--very conducive to staying for hours and watching the game. The owners are very laid-back and are like family inviting you to stay awhile in their home. Again, if you go for no other reason, you must go for the amazing cheesesteaks! Forget those inferior Italian beef sandwiches and get yourself the best sandwich. Monti's cheesesteaks are perfect. The bread is straight outta Philly and doesn't get super soggy loaded with perfectly seasoned, chopped steak and cheddar sauce (or "whiz" as native Philadelphians would refer to it.) They do some acceptable variations too. No frigging green peppers or swiss cheese! Leave that junk to Subway. My only complaint is that they don't have a second location in Oak Park! I've been to Monti's twice now and am happy to say this place is starting to become one my fave places in Lincoln Square. Great cheesesteaks, pizza, apps, and beer selection. Wow. This was an awfully good cheesesteak. I'm hesitant to call it the best or the greatest, but it was damn good. Good onions, good cheese. I can't complain about it. The meat lacked a little crispness to it which I like, but that would be the only negative. Perhaps the lovely gooey cheese sauce dampened the crispness. I'd definitely go back for another. I look forward to it. I also had the nuclear wings. So-so. Big wings, but not worth the price (6 wings for $7.50). They had the soggy like breading which I'm not a fan of. If you call it nuclear, they better make you sweat. Which they didn't. They had some heat, but not not enough for you to want a drink of water. The fries were slightly above your normal offerings, but the salt (celery as another reviewer stated?) pushed them up a notch. It was nice little touch that made them much more enjoyable to eat. I didn't even need to use ketchup! Beware, you'll need a ton of napkins. Everything was a mess to eat...which is a good thing, of course. Good chows. read more

I'm always open to trying Philly cheese steaks and I seen on yelp that this place had 4 stars in a half so I wanted to try it. The place is nice but my waiter was kind of tipsy and kept slurring his words and told kept asking the same question over, like he didn't understand me. But he was very nice so it didn't bother me. But the phillys was not the best or the worst I feel like susiez has a much better philly. It was also small and price wasn't worth it. I wouldn't mind coming back to try something else though. read more

My friend heard about this place due to its reputation of having the best Philly cheesesteak in the city. All I will say is that I wasn't disappointed. I got the rocky cheesesteak sandwich which had jalapeno, spicy mayo, grilled onion, etc. Very tasty and leaves a very good aftertaste in your mouth for hours. Just went last week with a groupon I had purchased. We went around lunchtime so it wasn't busy at all. Service was fast. Food was great and portions are large so I had plenty to take home and enjoy again the next day! Best Philly cheesesteak in Chicago! Just ate one in Philadelphia and this comes pretty darn close. We ate the "authentic" and the "Rocky". Both were great. Rocky was a bit spicy so make sure you're OK with that if you order it. If the Groupon is available, hit that up. $28 for 2 sandwiches, 2 fries, 2 beers, AND 2 desserts! Whatta deal! Came here on my birthday right before close. Owner was so warm and welcoming. He brought out soup for me to try. And my Philly cheesesteak came out with a candle in it. It was so thoughtful. Super clean..very nicely decorated...Staff was VERY nice..the food was so hot when it arrived I burned my tongue. I have never been to Philly and had a real cheesesteak. According to my boyfriend, who has eaten there multiple times, I am not missing a thing compared to this superior restaurant. We went on Friday, and to my surprise it was $5 martini night. Bonus! We each got a sandwich, my boyfriend opted for The Rocky and I got the classic with chicken. SO good. The Rocky made my boyfriend sweat like nobody's business (and we eat a ton of spicy food). This sandwich is no joke. Def spicy, but def yummy. I told him to ask for milk, and he was too embarrassed, but was more than glad to take it when the waitress offered (who was fantastic, btw). I got the chicken option over the beef, because I am always leery eating beef products at new places. I was so wrong. The chicken was great, and a nice alternative, but after eating a bite of The Rocky made with beef I was sorry I didn't get the beef option myself. This is real beef, not some gross minute steak in a bucket. It was tender, well seasoned, and not fatty. I would definitely rather pay a couple bucs more for quality over cheap gross meat. And I don't understand why people say the prices are so high. I got a sandwich with fried for $11 and two martinis at $5 each. A quality sandwich with two cocktails for $21 is a steal in my mind. It isn't McDonalds people. Grateful to have them in the neighborhood. Trying the pizza tonight and I expecting great things! P.S. Monti's is great! A smidge hidden off of Lawrence--but that makes it an awesome find. Nice cozy atmosphere. The Authentic Philly Steak sandwich was delicious. The fries had a nice outer crunch. Our waiter was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. One minor criticism, and it was clearly a one time mistake: my side salad didn't come with any dressing, despite having chosen one. Go to Monti's for the cheesesteaks (beef or chicken) and you won't be disappointed. The boneless buffalo chicken appetizer was alright (4 stars), but as the first sentence suggests, its all about the cheesesteaks. These start with the bread, which is allegedly flown in from Philly on a weekly basis - its amazing. Much better than anything you'd find otherwise in Chicago. I'm an expert - trust me. The authentic is delicious, but the other versions are also fantastic. I highly recommend the Rocky, but be forewarned, it is as advertised and does "pack a punch."
