Was unable to find an oil changers place open so decided to do it myself. Came in to Monument and one of the employees was more than happy to help. My knowledge of auto repair is behind the times and I got educated on modern times to oil change. I learned I was changing my oil to early and to go by my oil life gauge in my vehicle rather than mileage. With money i saved I upgraded to synthetic oil to last even longer. I've been going to Monument in Livermore and Pleasanton for 40 years. Today I was treated like I was invisible. No eye contact, no greeting, no "I'll be with you in a minute". The young man behind the counter picked up the phone and finished with that customer. Then answered the phone again and transferred the call. Then proceeded to help the man behind me. The other person working the counter finished with a customer and walked away from the counter. There was no customer service today, especially at 11am. All three people working in the store this morning couldn't be bothered to ring up a quart of oil. Next time I have the choice of driving across town to Monument or going to the nearest auto parts store, I'll be going to the nearest one. read more

I needed an altenator for a 2002 BMW 530i. I shopped around on the internet, at several warehouses. I shopped around at a couple of other local parts companies. I was not able to justify, shipping costs, shipping time frames and unknown sources that could beat Monument Car Parts. Are you looking for knowledegable car parts folks? Look no further. Some of the counter guys are retired auto mechanics. Bob the manager is courteous and will find you the best deal. Parts are pricey but are the best american made. I won't put the Kracken parts in my cars. Sure they're guaranteed(kracken) but can you afford to repair it again?They at Monument are the best at what they do. As a woman they treat me with respect and answer all my sometimes dumb questions about parts and oil. Got to ask it, right? Well, check em out. There's 1 or 2 really nice, helpful gentleman in this store, but most of the drivers are just disgusting. They smoke cigarettes INSIDE and out front of the store. They don't even put them away when customers walk up. I'm pregnant and had to ask the lady smoking in the doorway to please get it away from me. They are SO GHETTO and nasty. This place is a dumpster. Sucks for the 2 great gentleman I mentioned. I wish I knew their names! One is the young man at the front desk who has longer hair on top and shaved on the bottom. The other one looks to be a middle aged man with short dark hair who is always so sweet to help me. They have knowledgeable folks there and they are usually able to get a part shipped in within a day if it is not already in the shop. They will usually even offer you a range of options as to the quality of the parts. read more

One star for putting plastic bins in parking spots to make the spots unavailable for people to park in on the side of their business.. They already had three Monument vehicles parked there.. I moved the bin so my disabled mom could park her car there since all the handicapped spots were taken in that area.. Some punk ass kid called ME disrespectful... I've been using these guys for years. The service is great along with their attitudes. They have been very helpful. Many times there is are multiple types of parts for your repair and they will give advice whether it is worth spending the extra $$ on the item. I've worked on cars for a long time but just as a hobby. I've found them to be very knowledgeable and get the right part making for a lot fewer trips to the store. read more

The guys who work here are super nice and helpful. I came in to buy some wiper blades and they used their catalog to let me know exactly which ones I needed. The price was reasonable and they had them in stock, even though they're not a standard wiper blade. The store is organized and it's easy to find what you're looking for. Was sold 3ft of 3/8" fuel line that cannot make a simple U bend without kinking. Know it all guy at the desk claims that "any line like that needs to be warmed up in the sun or microwaved for a few seconds in order to bend it" huh? Had to throw out the $20 piece of line they sold me in favor of the $6.97 piece I bought at autozone. Autozone's bends 4 times in a complete circle with or against the natural curl, with no sign of a kink. The cheap and brittle stuff Monument sold me is oval right off the spool, wont bend more than a few degrees. I've grown up going to Monument and have never thought twice full knowing they're a bit more expensive being that they always have a wider selection of OEM and high performance parts. In this case though I feel like they're using their good name to sell low quality merchandise at a much higher price. I want to support the local company but with experiences like this, why should I when Autozone and Rockauto have better prices & better quality merchandise. read more

I had a great experience at the Livermore Monument. I had bought a 6 yr battery here about 33 months and it just went bad. The warranty for a replacement was 30 months of course. I took it back and they replaced it at no cost! They even loaned me a wrench to unhook the old one! I will definitely be going back. read more

Forget the big-box auto parts stores. Here in Livermore the staff at these places are nice, but not very knowledgable. Recently had to replace the waterpump on my Super Duty and it is no small task. Monument had everything in stock and were extremely helpful when it came time to address a few problems I had with my truck and making all the parts come together. Prices are in line with all the other guys but their selection, service and knowledge sets them apart. Plus it's nice to spend money on a local business as opposed to the biggies. read more
