This place is so good I drive an hour for it. I CRAVE it. Such a fun atmosphere: the super-cute vintage Asian movie posters are unusual and eye catching, a fun place to look while waiting for your food. Some of the staff can come across as dry (til you get to know them and realize they're warm as can be) but SO efficient! Service is fast and sharp. The Moo Ping is delicious, the spring rolls sublime. You have to be really specific here in your selection of numbered heat, but be aware if you say 0 you'll have taken away all the fundamental flavor they're able to give the dish (learned that the hard way). Don't leave without checking out the sticker collection in the adorable Thai food truck at the entrance. They have great t-shirts too; whoever does their merch is DL super savvy. Ordered dinner to-go last night and it was the perfect Sunday evening comfort meal. My girlfriend and I got two dishes to share, and each one was amazing in its own way. We got the Drunken Noodles with chicken at spice level 3, and WOW it was just amazing. I'd say they gave us the perfect ratio of veggies, meat and noodles, and I'm all about having the perfect bite on my fork each time. Our second dish was the Wonton Soup. The wontons were cooked to perfection! It came with some pork slices which were lovely. My only gripe is that I ordered it to come with tofu, and there were only 5 pieces in there - I wish there was a little more - and the broth was pretty salty (I'm not a salty gal). Finally, we just *had* to get the mango sticky rice dessert - and another WOW for that one. They managed to get the mango perfectly ripe, and with the rice it was a heavenly combo. 5 stars all around! read more

Our group went to Moo Dangs, who had our table all ready, Water and beverages came quickly. Many of the group was not familiar with Thai food so ordering took a little longer than usual. As this is my very favorite Thai restaurant, I ordered several entrees so as to have leftovers. All my dishes were excellent as expected. The only problem with our visit was that not all of us got our order anywhere near the same time. In fact, a couple of us were through eating before the last got their orders. Moo Dang is known for hotter dishes but that's one of the reasons I come here. But I am the exception in this senior group. Several ordered non-Thai dishes-- chow mein, chicken satay, and wor wonton, which they said were very good. So as a group, we probably won't return, but I certainly will, my leftovers were excellent and I wished I had ordered more as Moo Dang is one of the furthest Thai restaurants from my house. Glad I found this spot on the way to the airport. Free fried fish balls with peanut sauce upon Yelp check in was a nice surprise. I didn't notice the offer until after I ordered it :) Got the phad kee mao "Drunken Noodle" with pork. I'm a bit of a drunken noodel snob, and man, this is the best drunken noodles I've had in Reno! Noodles cooked to perfection, good veggies and the pork was nice and tender. And of course, I just had to get it at 5 star spiciness before going to the airport. Was passing through Reno and just went to the closest restaurant I saw on the map that looked good... this was the best gd Thai food I've ever had in my life. I love Moo Dang! the food quality and service are always consistent. We usually dine in because we love the roomy booths and quick turn around on orders. But decided to do our normal Togo. Ragoon and PadThai level 4 and salad. This time around we added the Kraw Ga Pow, and Crab Fried Rice. Everything was yummy and packed really nicely it stayed hot but not enough to make the PadThai sticky and the ragoon stayed crispy. The flavor and the subtle spice in the Kraw Pow is so so good. But this round was especially delicious the green beans were perfection. Mango rice is always fresh and delicious. Pad Thai is made the right way with Tamarind and food isn't spicy until level 3-5 Highly recommend going! read more

Overall this place was okay. Their tofu spring rolls were pretty good, but everything else, I wasn't so impressed. The vegi dish we ordered, the mushrooms weren't fully cooked and the fried rice wasn't anything spectacular although it was a little spicy. Their fried fish ball was exactly what it said it was, just a fried fish ball and not your typical fish cake with green onions and other stuff in it. Iced tea was a little too sweet for my liking although their small was in a decent sized glass cup. I'll likely be back for the spring rolls, but probably nothing else. Seriously no need to read the reviews because EVERYTHING is here is delicious. Every time I visit Reno/ Lake Tahoe area I must stop at least once at Moo Dang. The only recent pics I have are of the papaya salad 10/10 and the Tom yum fried rice 10/10. Pad ke mao, pad Thai , the pork belly, soups just to name a few are all so delicious and perfect made. My daughter got a promotion at work so I offered to take her to lunch to celebrate. This is where I thought she would choose and I was right. We also had her graduation dinner here, and birthdays and many other times just because. This is a small restaurant in a strip mall in midtown. We came in around 3:30 for a late lunch. We were seated right away. But I've been here plenty of times when I had to wait just a bit . And it's so worth it. Today we started with fried wontons and Tom Ka soup. I love this soup. And so does she even though she's not a big fan of coconut. And that's the only picture I took. Lol. She ordered her favorite basil fried rice with extra beef and onions. Sometimes she also adds a fried egg to the top. And I had eggplant chicken with a side of sticky rice. Over the years we've ordered many things and have never had a bad meal. It's a Reno staple. I picked up takeout from Moo Dang while in Reno on a work trip. I tried the drunken noodles, fresh rolls and fried rice. The portions were generous and the service was quick and courteous. Although I had takeout, the atmosphere seemed fun--I believe there is a full bar. That said, the food was not my favorite. The flavors lacked the complexity that I usually get from Thai food. Tried to order level 3 spice for the noodles-was warned against it so got a 2. I can handle a lot of spice and would have rather had the 3. My wife got a 1 on the Pad Thai, not spicy at all. Everyone has a different temperament but the recommended levels were low. Food was amazing, full of flavor and great service. Recommend to everyone in midtown to give it a go. I had to finally give this place a chance, so i called in my order to pick it up and was so impressed! The staff are very nice and it was nice to watch some of my favorite youtubers on the in-restaurant tv. They had on Scotty, from the "Best Ever Food review show", and I even chatted with an older woman about how I also enjoyed this show alot! Anyways the food was amazingly fresh and delicious! I tried the crispy garlic beef, spring rolls and steamed rice. Everything was delicious, and I highly recommend the spring rolls and sauce. Friday night pad thai! Yes, the pad thai is decent here. But the real deal is the soups--oh my! The Tom Ka was perfect, just the right balance of tart lime and creamy coconut with pops of fresh flavors from cilantro and green onion. My dining partner had the won ton soup with roast pork and the broth was very savory, the won tons were perfectly tender, and the fresh veggies balanced the salty broth. The ambience is fine; my personal preference is less (like zero) 90s country, but it didn't detract (much) from a very enjoyable meal. The service is kind and efficient. read more

I'm writhing this 5th review in hopes to remind the restaurant of the importance of permanent consistency. Although I didn't write about it, the last time I ate here was over 2 years ago and it was when I and bf both felt sick after eating. On top of that, the food (mine was pad Thai) was bad - the pad Thai was so sweet and tasted straight up ketchup again (see my past 3-star review) and the noodle was totally soggy. Rancid oil. In fact it was the worst ever quality at this eatery. Having read the recent raving reviews, I decided to give them another shot and came by today. I went straight for my favorite dish, pad thai again. A big gamble, it felt like. It was fantastic. Again. Phew! Tamarind sauce with umami! Noodles are cooked in perfection. Not too sweet. Yay! I sincerely hope that they keep the chef permanently this time. I've been meaning to stop by and check this place out. I keep reading nothing but good stuff about Moo Dang and since I was passing by I decided today was the day. So many choices on the menu make it difficult to decide. I did use the Check in Fish Ball free offer while I glanced at the menu. I wasn't super hungry so I thought I'd just have some green tea and a papaya salad. I'm used to the papaya salad across the street (Bangkok cuisine) so I was expecting the fried beef salty pieces on the side plus the rice but here you have options for your protein. Then I remembered the whole reason why I was here was to explore my options, so without hesitation I tell my waitress I want to add the crab. She says, "Laos style", and not even questioning her confirmation as I glance back at the menu I read, "fermented something" and I quickly get into my Andrew Zimmerman mode and I respond, " yes". My tea and fish balls made it to the table within 15 min. That was fast! Those fish balls are fried to perfection. I couldn't even taste any oil on them, oh and that spicy peanut sweet sauce; put that on a piece of cardboard paper and I'd eat that, soooo good! Papaya salad arrived a few minutes after, perfect timing! I quickly dig into it and I make sure I have piece of that crab. Noooo, the fermented fish taste and smell was overwhelming, Zimmerman's spirit exited my body within a nano second. I couldn't handle it! Ugh, I feel terrible. The waitress was so kind to take it back and asked me if I wanted to try anything else on the menu. Pushing my tea aside I order an ice cold Singha Thai beer to wash that crab out of my mind. I decide to go appetizer only and order the wings, which were also perfectly fried. (I liked the sauce that comes with the wings, but I asked the waitress for a side of the sauce that came with the fish sauce) Followed by egg rolls, those too were perfect. Their frying game is just on point here, period. Had some sticky rice with mango dessert to finish my meal. The mango was on the tangy side, not as ripe as I would like it to be but it still had good flavor accompanied by the sweet rice. I was super happy with the service and my appetizers. Next time I will try their soups. I hear those are fantastic! With the current cold weather lingering on, that soup is gonna hit the spot. Can't wait to go back! read more

Pretty cool decor on the inside! Love the street food cart they have for the front check-in / pick up area! The servers are nice and friendly. The papaya salad was so refreshing! Loved the addition of string beans. We used the check-in promo on Yelp for the fish balls and you should definitely try it if that promo is gone later on. Super tasty and doesn't taste greasy at all. The peanut sauce is also super yum. We got the Pad Thai to share and it was just okay. There was also a slight delay from the kitchen, waited over 20 minutes for just the Pad Thai. Not sure if it was an off day for the cooks or not but it was heavily sauced in sugary tomato / Mae ploy chili sauce. Doesn't really look like the advertised photo. Still good though, very generous with the size of shrimp chosen for the dish, and the chicken was cooked well! Not dry at all. The Chinese leeks (aka Japanese Nira) were a nice touch. After hearing so much about the drunken noodles at Moo Dang, I stopped in here on a slow afternoon and sat myself at the counter. The smell of the kitchen got my mouth watering immediately and I watched TV while the nice lady at the counter ran my order back. I will admit, that I wasn't expecting the style of noodles in this dish. I was expecting something more like ramen, chow mein or maybe pad thai, you know, long thin noods. Instead, these are more like soft egg noodles. Not that I mind, of course, I like these kinds of surprises when the food turns out to be tasty as this dish is. I can't really compare it to anything I've had before but man, it hit the spot on a cold day and I was pleasantly sweating from the spice in minutes. I'll have to try those fish balls everyone raves about, next time. read more
