Way, way, way overpriced for what you get. Let's be honest - for a $14 12"sub, you should be able to get peppers and mushrooms included with your sandwich, and it should be packed with meat. Neither is the case. I was pretty surprised when I paid about $18 for my sub and it only came with 2 slices of cheese, 1/4 cup of peppers/mushrooms, and about 5 oz of meat. I'd expect those quantities on each half of 12" sandwich. Flavors were pretty bland, as the sandwich was mostly hard bread that absorbed and disseminated whatever flavor the fillings have. read more

There's no wrong way to eat a Philly Cheese-steak from Moochie's! I'll admit I drove by this place multiple times before a coworker convinced me I had to try it. The building is unassuming, in a commercial part of Midvale, right on State Street - not a typical restaurant hot-spot. I'll also admit that the dining atmosphere is more like 2 or 3 stars, it's small, it's noisy and not particularly comfortable. The Philly Cheese-steak though... that's another story. OMG! The coworker that recommend Moochie's eats lots of fried food and frequents Chuck O' Rama, so I didn't have high expectations, but wow, just wow! Take my word for it, the Philly is amazing! I haven't tried a single other thing on the menu, but there's no need to. The Philly can be made just how you like it: peppers, mushrooms, onions, cheese - or none, it's your call. The icing on the sandwich so to speak, is the Jalapeno sauce. Don't be afraid of it, dive right in. Drench your sandwich in that shiz, because it's awesome in sauce form! Ok, so I know that people commented that when it first opened it wasn't as good as the one downtown, but we stopped by last night, and I have to say that they have figured it out. Our sandwiches were as good as the ones that you get at the downtown location. Plenty of meat and cooked to perfection! So glad to have one closer to home, with an actual parking lot. They only thing that I can see people complaining about would be the price since a 12" sandwich is $9.99 and $1.00 extra for mushrooms, peppers or additional cheese. So if you build up an amazing sandwich it can get up there, but trust me you are buying quality. It's well worth it, plus they make it fresh when you order. We will be back! read more

How does this place have good ratings???? The food I got was INEDIBLE!!! Walked in, and about 15 staff members were "chillin" behind the counter. The place smelled like old grease, and there was only one other table in there...Generally that would be enough for me to leave a joint like this, but decided to stay - because of the Yelp ratings. Ordered a chicken parmesean sandwich: The chicken was pre-cooked, and cut into strips HOURS before it made it into the soggy mess they called a sandwich. The meat was horribly dry, and salt was the only flavor I could make out - basically it looked like one of the kids behind the counter barfed into a bun & sold it to me. The sauce tasted like it was straight out of a can, and I think the "cheese" was actually rubber. ILL!!!! so gross, my dog wouldn't even eat the meat!!!! Perhaps the philly cheesesteaks are better, but I'll never know. I was annoyed that an employee filling the ice machine not only bumped into me hard - & spilled ice all into my new purse (as I was sitting at a table), but also she was having a loud personal conversation with another employee across the room - leaving me (& my husband) in between - we couldn't even hear each other - they were so ridiculous & unprofessional. We stopped here a few days ago and were definitely not disappointed. I absolutely loved the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I would say it competes nicely with ones I've had in Philadelphia. Nice big size jampacked with meat and cheese and veggies for a good price. The whole place had a homey feel to it, and we felt like we were in a very authentic dive. Good birch root beer. I've heard lots of praise for Moochie's so we finally managed to stop by for a meal. I'll get right to the bottom line: it certainly wasn't horrible, but we didn't think it was any better than DP Cheesesteaks. These fries. I know everyone has their preferred type of french fry, and THESE ARE MINE. I will never love another french fry more than I love Moochie's. They are of thickness medium-thin, perfectly crispy on the outside, and hot and smooth on the inside. Perfectly salted and run out way too quickly. They have special fry sauce, but it's completely optional for such a glorious fry. Obviously their sandwiches are bomb as well. I personally like the steak ones more than the meatball ones. Got the "Classic Philly" didn't realize that it came with horrible crap brand processed and died cheese food (like the cheap slices from the discount brand that are nondairy and made with oil). Friend got the chicken parm, the mozzarella wasn't melted and the bread dry. Went to complain and got blank stares, purchased another Philly, asked for provolone and they put the same yellow oil based junk on again. No customer service here! You really can't go wrong with Moochie's. Their cheesesteak is one of the better that I've ever had. The bread is usually spot on, but the ends can be a little hard sometimes. The meat is fantastic and the cheese they put on it is great and just compliments the meat. I really like onions in my cheesesteak, but I'm not sure why I don't like them in Moochie's. It's either that they put too many in, they're the wrong type or they're raw. (The rawness has happened on more than one occasion.) Their fries are just middle of the road at best, but they're usually soggy and way over salted. It's really more of a place to get take out than it is a place to stay and eat too. I've been to this location once and the downtown location twice. Previous times I got the meatball sandwich and this time I got the Philly cheesestake sandwich. Overall, I like the place but one big side effect tis the sleepy factor after eating the food. The meat is always juicy and the cheese is oozing. I would recommend the meatball sandwich with peppers from the pepper bar. You can get a half or full sandwich. Generally, I would think the half is plenty for most people especially if you get a combo with fries, macaroni salad, and/or macaroni and cheese. They serve coke products. This current restaurant is still very much a work in progress with plywood in the lobby. Therefore, I would not take a first date here now or probably ever. They have nice outdoor seating and plenty of parking in a private lot. Let's just say you decide to go here to compare vs. the one on 800 S. Doing so will give you a good measure of the difference between very good (here) and great (there), as well as illustrating quite well the difference between a fairly new grill (here) and a very well-seasoned one (there). Still, this is still a Moochie's cheesesteak, so it's going to be solid until you put the jalapeno white sauce on it, which will elevate it markedly. Fries looked better at this location, though and they have a variety of other stuff on the menu, which also looked pretty good, though it will never matter to me unless they run out of cheesesteak. Execution was also a bit spotty on the actual cooking of the components, particularly the mushrooms, but not enough to be an actual deterrent, of course. This building is more of an actual restaurant and the space is somewhat better, but this is still probably a good 2 - 3 years away, or so, of ascending to the lofty heights of the original location. I was excited when I found that Moochie's Meatballs and More was right by our new office. My picky coworker likes it a lot and we go there pretty regularly for lunch. I like it, and, aside from the expanded menu, find it hard to differentiate between one location and the other. I appreciate the fact that the lunch rush here is never insurmountable. It's possible to get in and out of Moochie's in 15 minutes, even during busy times. The people working here are also exceptionally friendly and the service is always efficient. I love Moochie's philly cheesesteak sandwich and always stick with that. It's so good, especially with the jalapeno mayonnaise. I always get it with a side of waffle fries that are always fresh and delicious. Moochie's fry sauce is also great. Moochie's Meatballs and More is an all-around good restaurant. When I get the urge to have Moochie's the only thing that stops me sometimes is how close I am to the nearest location! In my limited Moochie's history I have tried both the Cheesesteak and the Meatball sandwiches. Is there anything else on the menu? It doesn't matter! This is a rather small place which felt a little cramped. The sandwiches are overpriced. I ordered the chicken parm 12" sub, which cost $12.99, and doesn't include anything else. The marinara sauce was fine, but the chicken was not breaded and fried like classic chicken parm. This may have been the messiest sandwich I've ever had. (Apparently, they know their sandwiches are messy as they provide a sink to wash your hands right there in the dining room.) Also, they offer a large variety of items, like nachos and egg rolls.
