The jumping jalapeno sauce is amazing!!! Eat it on everything: fries, sandwiches, meatballs and more. I really like their meatball subs. The meatballs are really delicious and I want to take a loaf of their bread home every time. I of course put a generous helping of jumping jalapeno sauce on this as well. Be careful though their sandwiches are messy and not for the faint of heart. The gyro sandwich is also really good, with lots of tasty meat. Their fries are really good, crunchy and salty. They are some of my favorite fries around. The place is a little divey, but it adds to the delicousness of the subs. We've tried their philly cheesestakes, which is what they are famous for, but they really weren't that great. Stick to the meatballs. read more

SLC UT - When we first saw the sign that this location was going up we cheered with joy. I pass it a few times EVERY SINGLE DAY. I taught my nieces to chant "Moochies Moochies Moochies" when we drove by during construction. Unfortunately when we first went it something was off. My mom and sister also had some bad experiences so we took a break. BUT, thankfully we gave it another try because this time it was just delicious as the downtown counter part phew! My rating is solely based on the philly cheese steak. I have ordered other sandwiches and they ranged from "okay but I would not order them again" to "I really regret not ordering the philly cheese steak". Make sure to get the jumping jalapeno sauce it adds just the right amount of specialness. I like moochies. They seem to be very popular here in the Salt Lake area. They were also featured in Food network's triple D with Guy Fieri. All the hype is in place and expectations are high. But their steak for me needs seasoning. I thought it was kinda bland. Cheese is cheese and the roll was a bit tough to chew. For me I enjoy their sandwich a lot more when i bring my own worcestershire sauce, just because i want more flavor. I give them 3.5 stars (good not great) The jalapeno sauce was great. Disappointed that they charge extra for mushrooms and peppers. One of the best cheesesteaks I've had, surprisingly enough is at the Cheesecake Factory. It's so nice to find a place that has Philly Cheese Steaks that could be comparable to those in Philadelphia, especially ones that aren't super greasy. Love the original location but love this one more as I find it to be more spacious. The staff are friendly and even with the large lines, the food comes out relatively quick and with consistency. The Fried Ravioli is tasty in small amounts. The Philly Cheese Steak with mushrooms and peppers is pleasant as the cheese nor the meat "out-flavour" the other. The mushrooms and peppers only add to create a lovely delight of flavour in every bite. I came here to eat the first time and this place is disgusting. We came in and sat next to the windows and I noticed that the air vent was blowing over me and the windowsill was really dirty. The windows had not been cleaned in who knows how long. It was roomy but still I was disturbed by the vent blowing all this dust around. We had to move tables so we got up and moved. My qualm is with the food. I ordered a 12" meatball sandwich and there was hair in the sandwich. I almost threw up. My husband flagged down one of the girls that was working there and she did not apologize. She seemed like she was caught off guard. She asked if I wanted another sandwich to be made. Why would I want another sandwich with hair in it? They should be wearing hair nets and gloves. I'm disgusted by this place. She did not offer a refund or anything else on the menu. Came here based on a co-workers recommendation that the cheese steaks were good. I am from Philly, but not hardcore like some about my cheese steaks. That being said, when I saw the sign as I pulled up that showed 'Authentic Philly Cheese steaks' I thought this would be the real deal - Amoroso's rolls, etc. Nope. french bread. Was going to go with American cheese, but was told they were out. That's fine, I generally go with Cheese Whiz. Well, maybe my taste buds were off tonight, but this crap tasted like canned nacho cheese you would get at the Dollar Store, no way that was Cheese Whiz. After hearing a lot about Moochie's I would say it lived up to the expectations. I had the Philly Cheese steak which is the best I've had outside of PA. Everything was great, except I don't prefer American cheese which is the cheese Moochie's uses. If they had provolone I would have liked it more. The fries were delicious, cooked to perfection. They have a unique fry sauce which is white and is a little more spicy than the traditional fry sauce. I went back to Moochie's and ordered a 12" meatball sandwich to go. They cost 15 bucks, by the way. I asked the cashier if she could cut it in half for me because half was for my kid. She said store policy is that they cannot do so. I asked to see the manager. He told me that the owner has a policy of not cutting sandwiches in half for customers unless the customer pays for two - half sandwiches, which would cost an additional $2.38 plus tax. So I need to pay $2.38 for them to pass a knife through a $15 sandwich which consists of $3 worth of meatballs and $1 worth of bread. I asked the manager to convey to the owner that this will be the last sandwich that I purchase at Moochies. Look out Arbys - here I come!! read more

Had a large order for work and it was ready on time. Service good, staff nice. I had the eggplant parmesan entree. It was pretty good. The eggplant is sliced way to thin for my liking and they were overcooked. Eggplant is not suppoesed to be fried beyond recognition. To start my review I want to state that I am from the east coast, Pennsylvania. I have been in utah for 3 years and I have been dying for a proper hogie or grinder. I ordered a 12" meatball and a 12" gourmet grilled cheese with a small fry. Overall the food was subpar, if you served this meatball hogie back east you'd be run out of town, my first thought when I bit it was how dry and stale the edges of the bread was, the sauce felt like you strained a can of ravioli and put the meatballs in the sauce. The meatballs themself had no temperature, room temp at best. The grilled cheese was scimpy. Saying gourmet with 3 cheeses I expected something thicker than a note book, using the hogie roll is a great idea but in execution it fell short unfortunately. They give you a hefty amount of meatball for the meatball sub. The first few bites are gratifying, but after that the meatballs are noticeably dense. There's definitely room for improvement here. The fries are the super crispy double-battered kind of fries, which I like. They have a hot pepper bar which appeals to my husband. Overall, not as good as I remembered. So, it was my birthday and I had a desire for a Moochie Phili. Drove over to the one on 8th S in SLC. My daughter and I went in and placed our order... then headed home with the sandwiches. First off the flavor was just as I recalled amazing. BUT... honestly the amount of meat on my sandwich was disappointing. More onions and very few mushrooms so I had what I would consider to be a nice bun with a small offering of Moochie meat and veggies... I bought a 12" so I could have lunch today. To be honest will not return to this location again. I will consider trying the Midvale location when out because I have loved them in the past but... this was beyond disappointing. Place was not overcrowded nor was there a shortage of employees... Just the sandwich that was definitely not worth the amount paid. I love me some Moochies but this trip was a bust. read more

It was hard to decide which sandwich I wanted to try because they had so many that looked and sounded incredible! The cashier helped me decide on the grilled veggie sandwich which is basically a Philly with no meat. It was full of all sorts of veggies with cheddar cheese melted all over (delicious). I love their bread and fries as well. They have incredible sauces but the original fry sauce is by far the best! We also tried the friend jalapeno corn bread which was like a hush puppy. At first, I wasn't sure about them but after I tried a few I really enjoyed them. I'll definitely be going back to try some more! I do not know what more I can add to what has already been said. I love love love the Philly Cheese. I have tried other things, meh. But I go back again and again for the Philly. Again and again!! I have tried it with a number of cheeses, and really their standard is where the money is! I always add the mushrooms, because yum, but why mess with a good thing? So why not 5 stars? Way, way, way overpriced for what you get. Let's be honest - for a $14 12"sub, you should be able to get peppers and mushrooms included with your sandwich, and it should be packed with meat. Neither is the case. I was pretty surprised when I paid about $18 for my sub and it only came with 2 slices of cheese, 1/4 cup of peppers/mushrooms, and about 5 oz of meat. I'd expect those quantities on each half of 12" sandwich. Flavors were pretty bland, as the sandwich was mostly hard bread that absorbed and disseminated whatever flavor the fillings have. read more

We stopped here a few days ago and were definitely not disappointed. I absolutely loved the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I would say it competes nicely with ones I've had in Philadelphia. Nice big size jampacked with meat and cheese and veggies for a good price. The whole place had a homey feel to it, and we felt like we were in a very authentic dive. Good birch root beer.
