I came here with some co-workers for lunch about a year ago and I've been coming back ever since. One of the best subs and meatball sandwich in town. I had heard great reviews about Moochies for several months before I had the opportunity to try it myself. Their menu is somewhat limited to a few pasta dishes, and a number of sandwiches. The only bread the sandwiches come on is a hoagie roll, which I was disappointed with. Always a fan of a good Rueben--when I can find a good one in my area--I tried this offering, along with their battered fries. The roll is usually grilled, so I ordered my sandwich cold. The bread was too hard, and too much. Essentially, the roll overwhelmed the ingredients of the sandwich. The corned beef was good, and was flavored nicely. However, the Rueben sauce they used was too heavily applied, and also overwhelmed the other ingredients. In all, the Moochie's Rueben was just OK. The battered fries I received were old and hard, so eating them was not what I was hoping for from everything I had heard. In all, the meal fell short of what I had been told, and was a bit overpriced, as well. More than likely I'll eat there again; if only to try other offerings. Another big annoyance was one of the entry doors to the restaurant. The hydraulics on the door was completely shot, and anytime a customer came in or left through that particular door, it slammed shut...very startling! Additionally, the flow patterns of this unit were poor, and tables near the front were crammed up against the customers waiting to order. Personally, I don't like having other peoples butts right next to me while I eat. Would I recommend Moochies? I don't know. I'll have to try it again before I decide that one. read more

This was the worse Phily Stake that I have ever had, next to Subway. I drove by and thought, hey that looks like a good place and WOW they are saying authentic Philly Stake. First of all, it is ONLY served with American cheese, REALLY!? So I had to order Swiss, which was extra, I ordered mushrooms and grilled peppers, which was extra. When I got my sandwich, I think they thought I wanted mushrooms and peppers only, as there was hardly, if any meat on it and what was there looked like hamburger. So the 6" sandwich cost me $10. I have eaten at both locations many times. The cheesesteak with provolone is my favorite (and I am from 15 minutes outside of Philly). I have not found any other cheesesteaks in SLC that match those back home. Meatball sandwich is also good. I like the chicken and eggplant parm, but they always lack sauce and are too dry. The sausage and peppers are pretty good also. And the zappy potato salad is tasty. Plus, they sell TastyKakes of various flavors...i grew up with these being a treat in my lunchbox. Yum! read more

How can you turn down a Cheesesteak. I went with friends for dinner. The grandson got spaghetti with meatball. He ate almost all of it. The meatball was excellent and had a great taste. We got the meatball sub and hot wing sub with fried ravioli and fries. The food was great meat ball sub was amazing as well as the fried ravioli. They have wide variety of condiments but the jumping jalapeño sauce was great highly recommend putting this sauce on your sub. What the heck is going on here?!? It says authentic Philly Cheese steak but that is a bold lie. You have to buy bell pepper, and then have them not put American cheese on it, and then suck up the fact it's on a dry hogie roll. That is NOT an authentic Philly Cheese steak. And why did they try and put horseradish on it? Maybe it doesn't taste horrible after you spend an extra $3 to make it as close to an authentic cheese steak as you can here, but it doesn't go well that they advertise it as such. ok so i used to like moochies the last time i went there was before thanksgiving last year (2017) well i guess they had some money problems because they have cut way down on the portion sizes i got 2 full sandwiches and shared with another person each getting half the first one was the gyro plenty of lettuce and onions and thats about it you could hardly taste the meat maybe 15 really small pieces not even 2 inches long the second was a Ruben it was good if you like a sauerkraut hoagie the meat portions are really cut down on both really disappointed will i go back there probably not will i tell people to go there probably not and the prices went up as well so for the money you spend go somewhere else and get a full sandwich with double meat and double cheese for 6 dollars less than one at moochies read more

When we got our food we realized we were missing something we ordered (not sure if it was our original mistake or theirs) but without question they got us what we needed and were extremely kind and friendly. Probably the worst "Philly" I have ever had- The peppers and mushrooms are squishy and have never touched a grill, the meat is all pre prepared (which is how they can hand you a sandwich in 20 seconds after ordering) the bread is soggy from all of the nasty cooked all day in a pot over seasoned with god knows what but it ain't good juices from the meat. They brag about being #1 in utah but I honestly have no idea how they could ever claim that title unless they paid for it or found it written on a napkin under the bleachers of a junior high basketball game along with their meat and veggi nastyness. read more

My wife and I had lunch here with my Dad during a visit to the area.. My wife had a hankering for a cheese steak so we picked Moochie's which my Dad was a good place. She had a cheese steak and I had the pastrami sandwich. My wife loved her sandwich, a 6 inch was enough for a lunch meal for her. My pastrami sandwich wasn't quite as big but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I don't know where they get their pastrami was it was very tasty, it had a real kick that I enjoyed. I would definitely go back and if I lived in the area I'd probably eat here far more than is healthy. The price wasn't bad, $7-8 bucks per person we got a 6 inch and a drink for each of us. That's pretty reasonable here in the Detroit area but I'm not sure how it compares in Midvale. read more

I've heard a lot of positive about this place, so I finally tried it. I won't be going back. Order - 6" philly steak - there was meat and onions in about 2/3 of the sandwich. While what was there was good, spending $7 for a 4" sandwich was not what I was expecting. 12" pastrami and swiss - yuck! The worst pastrami I have ever had. While the meat was on the entire sandwich - the ends were sparsely populated. Sauce was not what I was expecting. The sandwich cost almost $12. Never again, what a ripoff! A 6" Philly Cheesesteak is $7.19 but I got a meal and paid $11.40! The meal includes a soda and a very small container of potato salad, 4oz container with maybe 3oz of potato salad. I will never come back and will warn my coworkers as well. read more

I always want to love this place because of how much everyone talks about it. However, each time I go it's always such a disappointment. The first time that I ordered from here I got the Philly. The fact that they put kraft singles on it completely ruins everything amazing about the sandwich. The next time I tried the meatball sandwich and the bread was so soggy that I ended up just eating the meatballs out of it. If you're going to do a meatball sub the bread needs to be crisped up a bit to hold its shape while you eat it. I then thought I'd go back and try the Eggplant Parmigiana pasta. The eggplant was so over cooked it nearly looked burnt. This final time I though I'd stick with a classic grilled cheese and some sweet potato fries. The grilled cheese had so much cheese on it that it wasn't even melted through. The sweet potato fries were so over cooked again and had about 5 little pieces in the container. It looked as though they had most of the fries dumped out before they packaged them to go. Overall, I've been enough times to rule out the fact that it could have just been a bad day for them, and I've realized that it's just not all that it's cracked up to be. The jalapeno sauce is delicious though. So, maybe go there, buy yourself a bottle, and save yourself from the terrible food. read more
