My wife and I went to Moochies on a Thursday night at about 7 pm. The place was mostly empty. We both ordered steak sandwiches and fries which were good. The problem with this place was that it was filthy dirty. Only two tables were taken, the remaining were dirty spread with crumbs and trash. The floor had dirt ground in and was also spread with crumbs and garbage. The condiments were spread around to various tables and were also filthy. Luckily there was a sink in the dining room so we got a bunch of wet napkins and cleaned a table. There were seven workers standing behind the counter doing nothing, you would think they would take a minute and clean. I'm glad I didn't see the kitchen! It's hard to enjoy a meal while eating in these unsanitary conditions. Talk about loosing your appetite. This place should be shut down by the health department. read more

They have gotten stingy at this location! I got a to-go order of a 12" Philly cheese stake and asked for lots of their jalapeño sauce. The employee working said they allowed one jalapeño sauce per 6", so he could only give me 2. What I thought was strange about this, is that if you eat there, you can have an entire bottle of jalapeño sauce! It's unlimited as far as the eye can see. But for to-go orders it was not allowed. Poor customer service. It's a shame because this location is much closer to my home and work, but the downtown location is much better. read more

A restaurant is supposed to be an experience, and both times I have visited here, you are treated like cattle. They are simply order takers here, no customer or environment engagement at all. They never say hi to you here (just so you know I always say hello to the first employee I interact with which is the cashier normally, and on two different occasions with a different cashier each time, no acknowledgement and they just want you to be done with), and avoid eye contact when ordering, the food is okay, but nothing to the quality of the original Moochies on State Street in SLC. Avoid this Moochies, management and overall team morale is poor. I'm a frequent customer at the original, this Midvale location is very disappointing. It seems like everyone working there hates their job and life itself. Close this one already, it is just hurting your reputation Moochies. read more

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Moochies is the place for what I believe is the best most authentic cheesesteak around. I just tried their meatball sandwich and it was fantastic. My wife and I were surprised at how much our kids liked it on their first visit there (they don't like to eat at new places). You can't go wrong (unless you try to make a cheesesteak at home using items from the grocery store - yes I've been there and done that and it just doesn't cut it) with a Philly or Meatball sandwich or their awesome onion rings or their garlic cheesebread or their great fry sauce or probably anything else on their menu. We went and got there Philly, it tasted great, but the portion size was not worth the money. We got our sandwiches and looked at it thinking where's the meat? I was told this was the best place for cheesesteaks by my husband and family. Waiting patiently for the day that I would experience this yummy nirvana paid off as I finally stepped through the doors and ordered my cheesesteak goodness. Imagine my disdain to find old, bland-tasting meat (which was in very short supply) along with onion overload (and I actually LIKE onions) with a faint swipe of lukewarm Cheez Whiz. Really??! We've tried nearly everything. Anything outside the Philly is a waste of $. The Philly is gold. The sauce... oh, the sauce. Holy Guacamole batman! In all honesty, I've only ever had one of their sandwiches, the philly. It's an amazing sandwich and the jalapeno sauce makes it even better. I would eat here all the time if their prices weren't so high. Due to numerous price hikes I haven't been here in quite some time. Went there for an early dinner with my special lady friend. We shared a meatball sandie, the original cheesesteak and the potato salad. It was awesome. Quality stuff inside of chewy bread - all the flavors showed up. The jalapeño sauce is obligatory. Don't trust poor (pretentious) reviews. This place rules. This place has the most obscenely delicious steak and cheese sub. There are places in Philadelphia that wish they could produce a steak and cheese sandwich this tasty. The jalapeño sauce takes it up a notch on the "yum" scale (and you can buy a bottle to take home), They make a surprisingly tasty Mediterranean salad too. The food looks good but we never got a chance to try anything due to horrendous customer service. Apparently they close at 8:30 (despite 10 pm time listed on their website) and if you arrive at 8 you are not invited to sit down and eat. We were told we MUST use take out and would be asked to leave when 8:30 rolls around. I then asked if they would wrap the two halves of my sandwich separately. The answer was an adamant "NO, we are not allowed to do that". Needless to say I did not order and I walked out with my family. Apparently they didn't need my $100. My husband and I are so glad that this place is close by. We've never been to the downtown location but we'd heard the rumors. We took the plunge about 2 weeks ago and then again a week later. Both visits were great, he orders the meatball sandwich and I order the Philly cheesesteak. We both swear that our sandwich is the best. I love the meat and the melty gooey cheese. The bread is soft, but still holds the sandwich together. He can't stop putting that special jalapeno sauce all over his sandwich. Either way you go, seems like a win to me! If there is a downside, the lines can get long and some say it's pricey, especially if you want to add extras to your sandwich. read more

Philly is nothing like what's pictures on menu. Meat didn't even fill the 6inch sub. But pictured sandwich overflowing with meat. And what's up with charging extra for lettuce and tomatoes. Just tried these guys for the first time today. Everything was great. The taste of the food, the overall ambience and atmosphere is really good for the money. I got the cheesesteak because it's seemed like one of their mainstays, but I changed it a little, I always prefer having Swiss over American cheese, so I asked for it this way, it was wonderful. I love their fries sauce, it's fry sauce with a little bit of jalapeno in it, just the right kick, but not overwhelming. Their fries are also really good. Their prices were great and their customer service was friendly. You also know it's a really good shop because it was very busy(packed), which obviously means the food will be more fresh, because it'll be turned over quickly, so it it won't have time to go bad. I had always seen their advertisements in city weekly, but now that I finally tried them I will be referring friends and family! read more

Every time we come here the food is amazing. Very authentic philly! The customer service is great to they feel like old friends. And of course the jalapeño sauce is freaking delicious. I dont know if its because we went in at 7 pm on a monday, or because the guys in the back dont care about their jobs, but i have never been more disappointed in my life. Seriously. Soggy, chewy bread. I wish i had taken a picture of how gross it looked. Smothered in a watery cheese sauce i think??? The meatballs were giant!!! That would have been great if they had flavor... Literally i have had a better meatball sub at subway. At least there i got my 7 dollars worth. My girlfriend ordered the "authentic" philly cheese steak. Let me start by saying this. If you are going to claim the best philly in utah, then i suggest you come up with something that doesnt taste like every other crappy, wanna-be philly steak I have ever had. Busy place. Seating a bit crowded. Well worth it for the cheesesteak and meatball sandwiches.

The on-line menu leaves a lot to be desired, seeing how it hardly describes much of what does or does not come with each dish. Had I known that my spaghetti would have included a roll, I would have chosen to spend the extra money on extra marinara sauce, rather than an extra roll. It was also slightly disappointing that the ONLY request I had for my spaghetti was for it to NOT have meatballs. . .and I ended up with meatballs anyway. It would be nice if during the on-line ordering portion, they gave the option to remove the meatballs, rather than requiring it to be written in the "special request" section, which they clearly did not pay attention to, anyway. They should also consider investing in a food warmer. Overall, seemed a little overpriced for a cold and incorrect spaghetti order. I might give them one more chance and order a Philly Cheesesteak next time, which they seem to pride themselves on. . .but meh, we'll see. read more
