    Biscuits and gravy with pork
    David O.

Yes, freaking please! One of the few places in the commons that provides breakfast! The biscuits and gravy alone are some of the best I've ever had let alone adding the pork on top making it an explosion of flavor. The guys were super nice!! We've also had ribs and brisket there before really good!!

Was passing through the commons and wanted something small and found this new bbq place and they have a small kids plate and it was perfect. The service was what sold me. The family feel and friendly faces were a pleasant experience and I definitely will be back.

Sandwich was plain and would be better if it was served on a TOASTED BRIOCHE BUN. Good flavors.

Opening the door, you are immediately hit with BBQ smoke flavor. I was getting pumped. I ordered a tornado and the rib and brisket platter just to get a sample of everything. I picked the Mac n cheese as a side. The platter came with a half link of jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage which was the best thing on the tray. The tornado was ok. The brisket portion was pretty weaksauce. I'm paying $30 to sample some brisket and I only get two slices? Ouch. It was ok. The ribs were not smoky at all, and there could have been more rub for bark and flavor. Sauces were average. Mac n cheese was inedible for me as it just tasted like butter and noodles. Place was rockin with a lot of people, but overall, would not go back.

It was lunch time and I wanted to try a few different things to see what they were doing here. I got a brisket sandwich, which was ok (I did not discern any smoked flavor) but the portioning was underwhelming. The cheese did not add anything to the sandwich. I also ordered a hot link and I ended up adding several slices of the link to the underwhelming sandwich to give it some substance. And lastly, I ordered a mac & cheese eggroll - ok, but nothing special. This was a take out order and I got the hot BBQ sauce, which was pretty good. Overall, the BBQ here is just middling and I've had much better. Maybe some of the other menu options would change my mind, but doubtful I'll return. One other item of note - this business will add on a 2% hospitality tax, a 2.5% take out tax and a 2.99% credit card surcharge to your bill (if you pay by credit card). I don't know if these additional taxes are manditory state or local taxes, but I would presume so. When the anti-tax morons scream and cry about property taxes and income taxes, this is what you end up with. And everyone is adding credit card surcharges now, so no surprise there. There is of course an additional sales tax added on the order, which I presume is the standard state sales tax. For those of you who are mathematically challenged, there is also an handy Suggested Additional Tip chart at the bottom of your receipt, if you are so inclined. It's based on check price before discounts and taxes and will tell you so.

The answer is a resounding "yep" and my favorite is Bobby's BBQ. On a recent visit to Greenville my wife and I made a side trip here, SO worth the stop. This is truly great brisket! Seasoned, wood-smoked, moist and flavorful. So tender it can be cut with a fork. Meat candy goodness. Is it supposed to be so dark? Absolutely, the servings are NOT burnt. There's a wonderful bark on this brisket which comes from a generous seasoned rub, low heat and a lot of TLC. Is it supposed to be fatty? You bet. Brisket is a tough cut of meat and fat provides tenderness, moisture and flavor. This ain't fine dinin' but the service from the counter is always welcoming and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating if you'd prefer to stretch your legs and eat here instead of waiting for the long drive home. The sides and sauces are very good as well. I love the Sweet Potato Crunch and the tangy OG Sauce is as good as any Texas Hill Country joint offers. (Sorry, I have no food photos. We got this order to-go and I didn't want to mislead anyone with shots of dinner on our deluxe paper plates.)

We each got the sandwich combo (meat of your choice, 2 sides & a drink) and some smoked sausages. The turkey was amazing, as was the brisket and pulled pork! The sausage is some of the best we've ever had. My sons loved the mac 'n cheese and I loved the coleslaw and sweet potato casserole. There's plenty of seating, both inside and outdoors. The vibe is very family friendly and welcoming. They had seasonal blackberry & peach cobbler on the menu, but it was sold out that evening. My husband returned the following day to get some (and a couple more sausages). The cobbler was worth the wait! Staff is personable and friendly! We will definitely be back!

Hubs had the meatballs (which the server said they only had two left...a friend nabbed the others) and other friends had the moules (mussels) frites and the braised short rib IIRC. The *.frites were the biggest hits. My filet was perfect, Sharon was raving about her mussels being the best she's had in ages. I had a bite of the meatballs, they were ok but people agreed there are better things on their menu. I love that the frites come with a choice of 3 out of about 10 different custom mayos (aiolis for the fancy-schmancy). I tried the curry, sriracha, and a fruity one I can't remember exactly what it was. I liked the fruity one the best and to my surprise, the curry the least (I usually love curry, but the balance was off). The sriracha mayo was too subtle for me, I slather sriracha mayo on my burgers regularly. I have no class. The frites were fresh cut and I enjoyed them but there were far more than I could eat on my plate, and sadly frites don't keep. They have my favorite super sweet Lindemann's framboise lambic on tap; I've only ever had it in bottles before, so that was a treat. My husband thinks I'm crazy to drink it because it is SO SWEET but I love it. So does Sharon, and clearly we're not alone or they wouldn't waste a tap on it :). It's beer for people who hate beer. (I resemble that remark. Maybe hate is a strong word. But in my 30s I realized I'd rather drink a soda than a beer, except for this one.) Desserts sounded good but we were too stuffed to order any. Next time I come, I may try the mussels, or I might just order that steak again.

It's in a basement that feels like a pleasant dungeon or a 1500's rogue tavern, you know, the kind in the movies where plots to overturn evil rulers are hatched. It is a unique vibe and after your meal, when emerging back onto the brightly lit street, it's akin to stepping out of a secret place and back into the light of day. The beer selection is impressive. This food is Belgian inspired. Hence the name being derived from a mix of Trappist Monks, trap doors, and a hidden underground enclave. Many of the beers have higher alcohol content, listed on the menu, be advised. The specialty is Moules Frites, mussels prepared in various broths and fries double fried in duck fat served with a flight of your choice of flavored mayonnaise such as wasabi, curry, truffle, sriracha, etc. Very good. Reservations are highly recommended. It was a busy Thursday at 6:30pm and the place was literally packed, even the bar. The two of us were seated in a large, dark, alcove booth fitting for six or perhaps even eight. We had a reservation, so the hostess said, "we may as well fill it" since it was that crowded. Being such, it was five minutes before we were noticed and placed our drink orders, another five before our water arrived and we ordered and about 30 minutes later to get our food. In between we were left to ourselves. The service was not negligent, but it was minimal and not really friendly either. It was a busy night, so we will have grace. But the mussels were delicious. We both had the Provincale, a rich, savory, Mediterranean sauce of tomatoes, garlic and white wine. Bourdain says "never order the mussels", in his Kitchen Confidential book, but here you are safe because they are very popular and the main feature. I've probably said this before and it is worth repeating, they need to up their crusty bread game. The broth is so good and the accompanying bread just doesn't lend itself to bringing the dish to another level, but it could were it better bread. This is a solid and must do restaurant experience when visiting Greenville. It arguably should be the "one" restaurant you must visit in town because of its unique ambiance and unique food & beverage.
