Looking back toward the dart room

Warm, woody tones, dim lighting, competent bartenders and a nice long tap list -- yea, I'm sold! Love the vibe here, there are no TVs, just a couple of dart boards to make you get up off your fat ass, and a jumble of tables scattered around a big main room your crew can huddle around to dish the latest dirt. Solid Brit-forward menu with shepherds pie and fish and chips and the like, and they're open late. Patio is a bit sad, but at least they have one. Glad the place is still solidly representing the Hollywood district where other businesses have bailed. Several thumbs up for this one.

We were out looking at Christmas lights and starving hungry. We popped in as I remember being here years ago. Great ambiance. Great food. Awesome bar tender who we enjoyed watching work. Great all around and we'll make a point of coming back when we need that British pub fix.

Love this place just popped in today. Bar tender was very friendly and helpful. The Refreshment I had was great. Didn't get food this time but have in the past and its always good. Lots of Irish/British options. Fish and chips are great. This is the perfect place to come and have a drink before or after if you go to the Hollywood theater to see a movie. Pretty much the closest bar, while also being great.

The tale of two fish? My partner and I have been anticipating coming to get some fish & chips here after watching a few friends eat it while we drank. While I saw some variation in plates and size of pieces, our full order plate had two very different pieces. You'll see in the picture that one is beyond fried - so much I should have sent it back. The lighter color piece was perfectly cooked. Fries are good, but only some were crispy. The small house salad is unique and pretty incredible. It was very lightly dressed. A classic British Pub with chairs and art to match. They have real darts I'll try again one day and change my rating if appropriate.

Hands down one of the best fish n chips experiences ever. The fish is ever so crunchy and flaky and tender. The chips are also nice and thick. Golden fried. Handcuff your cook. Don't let him ever quit. Fantastic vibes all around.

Why have I never been here before? My dad would love it here. Great spot, delicious food. Service pretty good, felt a little rushed but it was busy. Love the setting...will be back here!

It's a typical pub atmosphere so maybe you go there when you like good pub food - I mean real British pub food with a smile since service at the bar is great. You order there and it will be brought to your table. And the attitude of the barkeep is great - "no we do not have lemonade, but it's not hard to make - let me make you one" The food is just so good and transports me straight to Manchester uk. Or of course london. Not for a fancy dinner but for good British food - love to come back

We had a startlingly great meal! This place was the real deal pub so we didn't expect the best food. I had the chicken pot pie and my partner had the fish and chips and both were perfect. I I was to go back, I'd get the fish and chips though because it might have been the lightest and best fry I'd eaten. I tasted the chips and they were also delicious. Only thing missing was the mushy peas. The chicken pot pie was also delicious with a wonderfully flaky crust. My only criticism was that it could have used a bit more salt, the filling was a bit bland (but that also is authentically English! lol). Our server was friendly, but kind of hard to find. We had a plane to catch so if you're in a hurry, tell them ahead of time.

Nice neighborhood pub. Their fish and chips, and chicken pot pie were just simply outstanding. We will be going there again.

Welsh rarebit with Branston pickles are as good as I've ever had, fish and chips are the best in Portland, hands down.

It is genuinely cozy in a way that's hard to fake The reading rooms are such a great touch. Having tucked away spaces lined with books to actually sit and read, talk, or hang out in is so rare in a bar setting. It makes it feel more like a community space than just another tap house. At the same time, it works really well for large groups, we've rolled in deep before and never had an issue finding room to spread out. The beer selection is excellent. Thoughtful and rotating enough to keep things interesting without being overwhelming. Whether you want something hoppy, something dark, or something easy drinking, they've got you. And the left wing vibe is the cherry on top. It's refreshing to spend time in a space that wears its politics on its sleeve, pro-labor, pro-community, unapologetically itself. It feels like a place built for the people who actually live in the neighborhood.

Outstanding! This space suits so many purposes: studying, catching up over a drink, planning/researching, etc. There's even a conference room with seating for 11 that you can reserve. You can play board games here if no one's home is big enough for your group (their website says they no longer book the conference room for board games, but you can game there if it's not reserved). There's a few games in the upstairs green room closet. On a Sunday afternoon, there were plenty of spots open, but it is not dead either. Theres a variety of seating to suit all body types and preferences. First floor is wheelchair accessible. The upstairs bathroom has ducks on the ceiling so that's worth a visit alone. The blueberry rooibos iced tea is delicious and you add your own sweetener at the drink station. It literally feels like hanging out at a friend's house. Worth popping in if you haven't been. You can check the current drink selection on their website. You order in the entryway and then carry your items to your seat. Bus your dishes back to the entryway when you leave.

You can absolutely smell the fish and vinegar as soon as you walk through the door, which I think gives the place a very homey pub feel. I ordered a spiked peach Arnold Palmer, which I enjoyed (and it was pleasantly strong) and a glass of the house white, which was good for the price. Our server was very fast and attentive. To eat I got the tomato soup with a grilled cheese, which was absolutely fantastic. The soup was so creamy and flavorful, and I cannot imagine a better meal after spending all day walking outside in the rain. The fries were super crispy and I liked the batter. My partner and I shared some of their breadsticks, which were deliciously baked (fresh!) and came with a super refreshing basil crema and a nice tomato-y dip. Wonderful all. My partner ordered fish and chips, and was surprised to find that it is one large fillet of fish, not multiple pieces like you would typically expect. He said the fish was fine, but a little tough. Overall, a wonderful experience. I definitely hope to return. I highly recommend this place as a refuge during the cold winter months!
