Visited for the first time since they revamped their entire menu. The expanded selection is a nice upgrade as before the few items they had felt very limited for the price. A big improvement was the new drink options. It was previously tough to stick around long due to limited options and high prices, but there seems to be a real effort to keep folks around now with some cheaper cocktails. Onto the food! Another change or maybe return to (?) the menu now resembles that of your average Irish pub. My wife had the Guinness stew which was delightful on the rainy day. I had the corned beef hash that was also very tasty! The atmosphere is nice and cozy as it always was and the service was kind. While there's things I may miss like the omelette of the day and the LR burger, the changes seem to be a step in the right direction.

Finished up at the Art Museum and Yelped for a suggested place for lunch that was a short walk...6 minutes to be exact. Small neighborhood establishment that had a sign, est 1947! It reminded me of an English pub. Greeted upon entry, handed menus and found a window booth. Small and quaint. The bar area is small maybe room for 4-6 people. Definitely looks weathered. Ordered beers and lunch. Ordered the BLT w/ avocado, ate the entire sandwich and most French fries! Delicious sandwich on sour dough. Big thick slices of bacon. The French fries were crispy. Because it was not busy our order came quickly. Staff member was friendly and not over bearing. Payment is via either directly to the staff or via an app. I elected the app! Thanks Yelp for a great find! It's off the beaten path. So nice it was no over crowded, no feeling of being rushed with great food. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

I've driven by here many times but never thought about going in until recently with a group of friends for lunch. The interior has this old-school cozy vibe to it. They have a good selection of whiskey. I had the reuben sandwich with a side of fries, which was ok. The service was friendly and attentive.

    Chicken and waffle

Ok food. Late brunch stop. Place was empty at Friday at 3pm. Enjoyed the chicken and waffle. But the chicken was a bit dry. The eggs Benedict was solid! Server was super nice. Ambiance was just ok.

The unassuming outerior totally belies the cozy bar interior with homey booths, tables, and bar seating. Service was fast and attentive. Lovely coffee and food was also decent! Totally the place to be for a straightforward American brunch affair. The Potato Cakes, albeit being small, were full of flavors. Good balance of seasonings, bacon, and potatoes. Fresh ingredients too. Paired with runny eggs and they're scrumptious. The Monte Cristo was also good. Hefty serving of custardy challah bread filled with plenty of ham and stretchy cheese. I liked their apple sauce that came with the dish. The country reds were also cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. Super glad I dropped by. Maybe my new favorite local spot in terms of ambience and convenience!

    Reuben with Fries

Wow. We popped in just before they got busy for lunch. Zero complaints. One super busy, fantastic person playing hostess, waiting tables and running the bar. They did a spectacular job as the lunch crowd began to grow. Food was amazing. A-MAZE-ING I say! I ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger with no changes from the menu. This burger was juicy, flavorful, and each item on their own had wonderful flavor, but when all eaten together, swoon worthy! The pub bun held up well as the juices increased with each bite. Hubby liked the Reuben and said you could tell the corned beef was fresh and was one of the best Reubens he's ever had-if not the best. The fries were pretty good as well with the right amount of crunch and seasonings. We did not try any house cocktails, just simply because we weren't in the mood today.

One of the best burgers in Portland. Arguably one of the best smash burgers I have ever had and the fries are seasoned perfectly with a nice light crisp. Jeremy was an excellent server. I will always come back here while visiting Portland.

    BLT add Avocado

I got the BLT and asked them to add avocado. The BLT was perfect, definitely filling I am bringing the other half home for later. The bread is toasted, the bacon is perfectly crispy and they gave me plenty of avocado. For my side I chose the Cesar salad. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating but gave us space as well which I really liked. The setting is a small but spacious little building on the corner. The booths we sat in are roomy and comfortable. Was not busy at the time I went (around 3-30-4:30 ) The bar area was full it's a bit small but enough for like 5 I think.

Hubby made reservations for the three of us here for dinner around 5:10 but got here early because we took public transportation to get here. We were seated at a booth by a nice lady who pretty much was the waitress, bar tender, etc. She was busy as the time came closer to 6 pm. Once we were seated, we were given waters. I also got myself an iced tea. They only carry Pepsi products which I dislike. I looked at the menu which wasn't too much to choose from but I decided to get the fish and chips. I wanted soup. They had veggie soup and she offered me beef stew so I got the beef stew. This was delicious. You can taste the beer that was cooked with it. The meat and potatoes were soft. The fish was tender. They used cod which is what I like rather than mahi. The French fries were seasoned well. The fries were crispy and cooked enough. Their famous ketchup is great. They bottle their own ketchup. Service was okay but I get our waitress was the one doing everything. I had asked for water refills and she gave use a bottle of water to share at the table. The food was delicious. Highly recommend this location for dinner. Don't forget to make reservations as they get busy at night.

Ambiance here is fine. There is a smell that kinda hits you when you first walk in, like a mix of really old basement mixed with BO. The server/ bar back was kind and attentive. I had a good, strong Spanish coffee. The food is good (I've eaten here before). This time I had the chicken and waffles. The waffles are very good, fluffy and have great flavor. The chicken is heavily breaded and very crispy, but VERY salty. So much that my tongue burned when I was done eating. It's one of my neighborhood bars, so I'll be back, but do hope they can work on the smell.

    Fried chicken and waffle.

The beer is solid you probably already know this. This brewery has been pumping out solid beers for years and really have their styles dialed in. Like many others, I lean towards their IPAs and being an east coast native it's so nice to have their fresh squeeze style IPAs so abundant here. The food has always been good here. I've tried a few of their offerings, burgers, salads and the like. Never had a bad bite to eat. The interior is nice and spacious but this place can get crowded especially during the summer with tourists as it's location is ideal if you're visiting downtown. If I had one wish for this place it would be for some better outdoor seating as most of it is just strung along their storefront out on the sidewalk. That works for me, especially on days I just want to munch, sip and people watch.

There are entrances from the street and also an entrance from the hotel (The Royal Sonesta) but oddly, it is not marked. It's not on any sign in the hotel, either. Staff at the front desk were busy. I just wandered around until I found it. The restaurant is accessible. I'd checked the menu online ahead of time, but found it had mostly changed. Both menus were short, but had something for everyone. For dinner, I started with the artisan pretzel bites, which came with a dipping sauce. They were warm an pillowy, and not too salty. I had to stop eating them so I could eat the house angus burger and fries. I wanted to swap a salad for the fries - I'd seen this option on an old menu online - but it was no longer really an option, so I let it go. I did ask that the chili aioli be left off, but the burger still came with some kind of sauce, which I think was the aioli. (Not so good that I couldn't tell.) The burger was good-sized, but pretty boring, even with the toppings. I added more ketchup. It got messier, but not better. I would have preferred raw onions rather than griddled ones. For breakfast, I had the Classic - I think that's what it was called. Two eggs your way, meat of your choice, potatoes, and toast (white or wheat). I asked for scrambled eggs, wheat toast, and I wanted ham. Except not. The only "choice of meat" was bacon. OK, so bacon it was. Most of it was all fine and filling. The best of it was the wheat toast. The eggs were not so good, though. The food taste varied, but the servings were always generous, and the place and staff were nice and helpful.
