Worst massage experience of all time. No one can understand you and what your specific needs are. The bed is uncomfortable and the head rest actually hurts. It was loud, I could hear the other therapist talking in the front. I'm not sure that my therapist was licensed because she was all over the place. When I kept asking for her to focus on my neck she would and it helped with the pain I have. I've never had a therapist touch my face without asking. I scheduled an hour half massage and I got an hour 10 mins. The best part is checkout! I paid and asked if I could tip on the card and I did tip on the $60 I paid. She told me no you have to tip $15. I said excuse me because I couldn't understand her. She said a hour is a $10 tip and $15 for hour half. I told her you don't get to tell me what to tip. I actually felt bad for her because she said that's all she gets for the massage total. I told her to call the authorities because it's illegal if she's not getting paid. read more

I just went here with a friend of mine and we are absolutely stunned on how our experience went. I saw the groupon online for 39$ so I decided to call them to see if they can see me today before I bought the groupon . The woman who answered, told me to pay her the groupon price in person. We get there and they put us in the same room (couples massage) style when i had asked them on the phone to put us in different rooms. But whatever, we didn't care enough to have them separate us at that point. The beds were super creaky and the music was so quiet that you heard the bed rumble every time the masseuse put pressure on me. When we were leaving, we paid the ladies 39$ for the massage and 9$ for a tip. We couldn't understand them too much because of the language barrier but we could tell from their body language that they were very upset. They kept trying to point to this sign they have, a "suggested gratuity" sign that says that for the massage we got (1 hour full body) we would need to give 25-35$. They were insistent on receiving this amount and we stood our ground. That is outrageous! They wanted a 65%-87% tip. Absolute nonsense. read more

This will be my 5th and final attempt I'm making to be seen. That's right...five attempts at scheduling and never getting me in since September of 2016. I'm very selective of my shady massage parlors, and I'm assuming that in Encinitas they'll steer clear of my danger zones. I called at 6pm today and I was told that they could finally take me at 715! Omg...could it be true?! An hour of elbows in my back for $40?! Surely it can't be my time to shine?!?! I told the lady that I would wait in the area as I was close by and I was very excited to be seen after a 7 month wait. I waited for an hour....excited to finally try the place that is close to my house. I was over joyed with excitement as I put my hair up and got my earplugs ready! i saw them changing linens, but what bothers me is that they don't wash their hands after they touch the dirty linen. no gloves were used either.there massage is good but i don't think they wash their hands prior to the next cliet.whats wierd is that they even used their feet.plus there's a language barrier, the woman who massaged me can't understand english.the only thing she can say is "oki", thus took a long time for her to get what you want done.they even say how much they want for tip. read more

I filled the take-in from and tell the therapist I need more attention on the shoulders and neck before the massage. She spent half hour focused on these two areas. I have to update my review because I was having awful neck pain and the owner suggested a therapist for me to come in and see. The therapist worked very hard during the massage but I did not like many of her techniques including a really rough scrub with hot towels that stung my skin. I was really disappointed when she did not work on my neck during the entire hour session except for maybe a minute or two on each side. She did work on my upper traps but that is not my neck. I left still in pain and texted the owner but did not receive a response. I called the owner this morning and it was difficult explaining the issue because I'm not sure how much she understood. "She didn't work on my neck," I kept saying. "I'm still in awful pain." She kindly offered to take care of the entire hour with Sarah. So I drove back there today in pain and received my massage with Sarah. Except Sarah didn't work on me for an hour- she worked on me for a half an hour. I would not have driven all the way there and back if I had known it was going to be for a half an hour. The owner's husband looked to be opening the space and let me know that my therapist was running 10 minutes behind. I filled out some new patient paperwork indicating that I needed a focus on my neck and back, and after an awkward trip to the rest room, (there was a dryer repairman I had to sort of step around) I laid on the table and waited. At about 10 til 11 I was told my therapist was almost there and that my massage would be discounted 10 dollars for the wait. "This better be good," I thought, growing impatient. Sarah arrived around 11 and began the massage. Of all of my life searching for real deep tissue therapists she did not disappoint. She is heavy handed and a very talented therapist. It felt like I was being steam rolled back into a stress free and pain free body. My only complaint is that she hardly spent any time on my neck- which was the main area I needed focus on- but I assumed she read my paperwork and I did not verbally tell her to focus on my neck until the end when it was too late. I'm going back in a few days for my regular chronic pain maintenance and I am going to tell her to please focus on my neck and back. The highlights for me here are that the therapist is great, the price is affordable, and there is no membership commitment needed. I hope this places stays in business!!! I usually don't venture out much to Encinitas but I had some friends staying in the area and they wanted to get a foot massage so here we are. I would recommend making an appointment they seemed pretty busy on a Saturday. We had 3 ladies in our party and they just so happen to have a foot massage room for 3! It was nice to have our own private room. Don't let the name "foot" massage fool you because it really was a full body massage! They start out soaking your feet in a warm foot bath while massaging your scalp, face, and arms. Then they move on to your feet and legs...it was heavenly! Half way thru they ask you to flip on to your stomach and they finish off with a back massage. Once they start slapping you around on the back it signals that your massage is over. Boo. All 3 ladies enjoyed our massages very much. They are more expensive than other foot massages that I frequent. $40 an hour here compared to $25 an hour on convoy. Called to make an appointment - the girl never asked my name, mentioned any service, specials or fee's. Made no effort to book an appointment but told me it was necessary to have one. I went. Arrived, same girl - I assume, sitting at front desk. Never looked up to acknowledge or greet, just said, someone here in moment. A gal came from the back pretty quick and motioned to follow her. She opened a door, pointed, and said here, get ready. OKAY! 5 - 6 minutes later she comes in, not very personable, just started her thing. It was ok, at best, I didn't care for it, her, her style of massage or anything I experienced here so far but, I'm hoping it gets better; it doesn't. This at best, mediocre massage, continues on the legs for a few moments, then wiped down from the oils, and she says, "I'm done", turns, walks out of the room. I could not recognize one thing that "Customer Service" or "Customer Satisfaction", oriented. It seems as if the only thing they may know about these two topics is how to spell them because absolutely cannot and do not perform it on any level, especially for this community and others like it. I wish I could give this place negative stars! Just left here and will never be back. They called me to change my time, which was fine no big deal. But then I get there at my rescheduled time and I'm greeted with "we're so busy". Ten minutes later I'm in the room, on the table. The outside noise, banging and talking was insane. My masseuse is playing "relaxing music" off of her phone which isn't on silent so I can hear text messages ping through. The door then gets knocked on and my lady leaves the room! 5 mins later she comes in and is shocked that I'm getting dressed to leave. I'm then harassed while I'm trying to get dressed, now by two women. When they finally leave the room, they leave the door open when I'm still not even dressed. When I finally leave that godforsaken place, I'm followed out of the door and told I need to pay for my "30 mins" because my lady worked hard. To say I'm fuming is an understatement. I was incredibly disappointed by my experience (or lack of) at Moon Light Spa. I purchased the Groupon for me and my mom after a very stressful week and we booked our appointments online. We both got a confirmation email for the time/date/and massage therapist. When we arrived at our scheduled appointment time, with our Groupons printed out, they turned us away saying because we "hadn't called to confirm" that our appointment wasn't scheduled. I showed them the email we got that said "Your appointment is confirmed"...and they pointed to some fine print at the bottom telling us we need to call and confirm our appointment. That is VERY confusing- why would I receive an email saying that my appointment is confirmed...if I have to still call to confirm?? Also, when we arrived, the spa spelled strongly of cleaning products and not like a spa environment. Needless to say we got our Groupon refunded and will not be going back here...ever. read more

I Come to moonlight massage probably once a week if not every other week because the pricing is beyond reasonable and Emily and Sarah are amazing. I was there last week with my husband for our anniversary we had a couples massage. I had Sara and she was fabulous my husband said that his massage therapist was a weirdly aggressive and didn't really have any flow to what she was doing she rubbed the top of his feet with her knuckles and it was painful. She burned him with the towel and it was awkward the whole time. I unfortunately don't know her name. I came in today I had a break from work and a horrible headache from my job and upper body pain and wanted to get a massage. I had enough time to get a full body for an hour so excited when I called and asked for my girl Sara who I typically see if is not available usually Emily. I was told no problem they asked if this was sadie and they would see me soon. they were able to accommodate me within 15 minutes of me calling when I got there it was the girl that did my husband's massage the last time we were in. I think I've had her once before and didn't recall enjoying the massage. Today unfortunately it was the same situation I don't know this therapist name but she just doesn't seem to know what she is doing it was an hour of awkward padding and squeezing and just mushing my body it wasn't a massage and she barely was applying any pressure she spent the majority of my time and hworking on my lower back when she would creep up to my shoulders and find a knot she would just avoid it I asked her a couple of times if she could push harder and that the majority of the pain was in my shoulders and neck. Her response to that was to get out hot stones and continue to massage my lower back burning me with them. She spent maybe 5 min using them on my neck and shoulders. She worked on my legs and arms. The awkward petting continue and wasn't even. What she did to one side of my body she didn't to the other. The "head massage was her flicking my head and pulling my hair. Which is horrible when you have a headache. I was so glad it was ending but not before she slapped my whole body. I like this place it's super convenient to my work and my home I just guess I need to make sure that if I am going in there to really request Sarah and Emily and if they offer me some one else I will have to say no. I don't even feel like I am explaining the situation well because it was just so Unpleasing and not relaxing. I left with a headache and still the same pain which Is not typically the way my visits here go. I didn't bother saying anything just now when I left because she didn't understand me communicating with her during the massage. Sara and emily are the best and have a natural intuition for addressing somebody's needs with their muscles. typically I would give this place four or five stars if you're seeing Emily or Sarah but if you're seeing anyone else I would just be Leary and to really try to help explain what your needs are if they are able to understand you. read more

This place is a sham, I will never be back. My masseuse told me she would take good care of my back problems if I took care of her good with tips. That came off as pretty weird but I brushed it off. After my massage, which to be honest is nothing special, I paid my $60 dollar check and tried to leave a $16 tip which comes out to %27 percent! The masseuse was pouty and openly unhappy with that and goes on to ask for a higher tip because giving a back massage is hard on the body. That's not my problem but she ended up guilting a few more dollars out of me. The recommended gratuity paper in the lobby is expecting people to pay close to 40% on average. For real? Be aware their prices are only cheaper than competition because they expect a stupidly high tip and aren't afraid to tell you to your face. If the employees don't get paid enough by the store, take it up with the bosses, not the customers. read more
