This is specifically for the tonkatsu. A friend told me about this spot and the pictures look amazing. Unfortunately the pork was very tough. I've actually gave the spot multiple try's as I don't believe in judging a place off one visit but it was tough again and this was a good 4-5 month gap. I'll always leave recommendations because just calling a place bad sounds like hate. If you don't mind uncomfortable seating katsu-mi inside of H-mart has the best tonkatsu I've had since japan(get the expensive option it's worth it). Also nearby Menya has pretty good tonkatsu(wouldn't call it great) but is better than moons IMO. Ramen is just okay tho(engimono has the best ramen in federal way) read more

First off service is EXCELLENT. Staff is always paying attention. It's a nice family casual vibe with menus you scan upon seating. The drinks made my mouth water as I read through the list! Got the grape-aid but will definitely get the iced plum or Jeju orange. Pork Catsu curry comes out sizzling on a plate atop a bed of cheese and you pour the gravy over yourself. I had a great lunch at Moon's kitchen this past weekend! The two of us split a ham gimbap ($8), jjajang udon rice cakes ($18), and a pork katsu cheese curry ($16) - this was a LOT of food! The restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday at 3pm. The ham gimbap was very generous sized - excellent and a great way to start the meal. The tteokboki portion was huge, and it came out on a hot plate. I thought the jjajang flavor was excellent and went well with the udon, fish cakes, and rice cakes. The pork katsu came out in a cast iron with sizzling cheese. The breading and fry on the katsu was excellent - and it was so yummy with the melted cheese. The curry comes on the side so that the katsu stays nice and crispy. Overall, we had a great meal at this restaurant. I would definitely come back. There's lots of parking in the strip mall, and it's only a 10 minute walk from the new Federal Way light rail station!! read more

The food is great! I tried the bulgogi and tuna kimbap. Both were great. I usually don't prefer cucumbers in kimbap but they julienne the cucumbers and soak them in salt or something so it's not just a raw piece of cucumber. So it's quite nice. The kimbap as are quite large and make a great appetizer. I've tried both the pork and chicken katsu. Both tasted great but I preferred the chicken. The breading was much more crisp and airy. The spicy jjolmyun was one of my favorites. It is quite spicy and the noodles are so chewy. The Sophie slushy was good but I missed the rice part of it which wouldn't work in a slushy. Nice flavor though. The restaurant is spacious and has chair and booth seating. The chairs are the type where you can open the top and put your purse or coat in. Service to order was quick. I was craving some Korean street food and made the genius decision to try Moon's Kitchen out. We had their tteokbokki and added gimmari (seafood roll), spicy tuna mayo cupbap, and tonkatsu. A cozy shop with delicious Korean street food and it's just as good as when I was in S.Korea As much as I want to give it a higher rate I couldn't get over the amount of fruit flies there were. It was a bit of a nuisance of them flying in my face the entire time For service - our waitress is very friendly and sweet it did get slightly busier and she was the only one running around taking everyone's order and bringing the food out. One thing about my meal was I asked for instant noodles with my spicy brisket rice cake. (which was yummy) She however informed me that it already comes with it and when it came out it did not come with noodles. Had high hopes of this place but was disappointed with the service and food. The server was very busy and impatient throughout the dining experience. She was more concerned about wanting to turn off the fire as soon as the soup came out. I thought the point of the "hot pot" is so the ingredients are continuing cooking throughout. I understand that the majority of the ingredients are pretty much cooked when they came out of the kitchen, but I usually prefer my rice cakes to cook longer to soak in the flavors and the cabbage to be softer as well. It would have been nice if she had asked whether we would like to turn off the fire or not rather than just stormed in, turned it off, and walked away without us even realizing what happened. The soup itself is rather unimpressive, maybe it could have been better if we ordered the spicy type. The gimbap is what I'm most disappointed with. I think the presentation look very nice but it's lacking any flavors, I think even the hmart gimbap are more favorable and tasted better than these. Also when we checked out, the server unexpectedly charged another additional item on our bill by mistake. Make sure you double check your bill before you pay. My husband and I finally checked out Moon's Kitchen a cozy little Korean spot I've been seeing everywhere, and I heard they specialize in different tteokbokki hot pots. And since we are HUGE tteokbokki lovers... say less, we were there! We went on a Friday evening around 6-7 PM, and surprisingly it wasn't too packed yet, so we got seated pretty quickly! perfect timing after work. We ordered the prime brisket tteokbokki hot pot, tuna gimbap, and the sweet potato side (that one was meh for me a bit too oily, I'd skip next time). The tuna gimbap was simple and so good! We want to get the other gimbap next time we go there! For drinks, I had the strawberry matcha, and hubby tried the mango highball and green tangerine, the green tangerine was actually bomb. Food was good, prices were solid, and service they were attentive and friendly the whole time. This is a newer Korean restaurant in Federal Way that I only heard about through social media foodies, and my group of 3 went over to try here on a Friday night around 6pm. This place has tons of seating for mostly large groups though I could see the place getting full during peak hours given vids I had already seen of foodies being here. The menu is pretty simple; it has tteokbokki, gimbap, noodle soups, dumplings and katsu. Our waiter was pretty attentive to us overall, though overall service was quite slow even with a large party sitting close to us. My friends and I got their pan-fried pork dumplings and their Moon's pork katsu dish. The dishes took maybe about half an hour altogether to come out, which did affect our experience a little this time around. Looking past that, the dumplings were tasty and well-pan-fried, and the meat on the pork katsu was long, huge, plentiful and juicy all at once. :) We also ordered Moon's gimbap with ham (and the rice in) though our order also came with bulgogi gimbap, so we wondered how we had two kinds of gimbap when we only ordered one kind. One of my friends actually ordered a bulgogi cupbap (rice bowl) instead and realized our waiter misheard his order. Portions were huge and bountiful enough for my friend to share my food with me, but this did negatively affect his experience in particular. It also took a little while for us to get our check since we had to flag down our waiter for it. Happy we decided on this new spot, since there are way too many choices of Korean restaurants in the area it was getting hard to choose. The food we ordered was great considering the men in my life don't care too much for anything katsu. However we ordered to share the regular "pork katsu" and "pork katsu cheese curry". Last minute decided to come here for lunch and it was so worth it. This place is now one of my new fave top spots. There was no wait for lunchtime and service was super friendly! I love how they have a large drink menu with alc and non alc options- their grape ade was delicious and reminded me of the drinks we had in the cafes in Seoul. Their menu has so many options I wanted to try so many things. We got brisket and rose tteokbokki - I love how it comes in a heated pot tho remember to keep stirring! The tteokbokki was so tasty- probably the best I've had in PNW area- super fluffy! We also got tuna Kimbap which was delicious. As a Korean American, I have pretty high standards for Korean food and this place is just okay. The Kimbap was the highlight of the meal -- the ratio of rice to filling was excellent and the ingredients tasted fresh. The fish cake soup had a generous amount of seafood but the flavor was super underwhelming yet too salty. The katsu was not good.
