Quart of wonton soup had a lot of wontons and was delicious. Roast pork egg roll was delicious as well. It was stuffed well, crunchy coating. Not greasy at all. Best egg roll I've had in a long time. I love Moon Star. My family and I have been coming here for years and they've always treated us well and welcomed us. They also have amazing food and good portions. Personally, my favorite is the General Tso Chicken and the Chicken Broccoli, but I do love their appetizers as well. I always enjoy coming here and we make sure to visit at least once a month. read more

Recently moved to area and have two Chinese take always near me, tried the other one many times but tonight decided to try moon star, ordered combination plate chicken and cashews and a combination Lo mein. Once home I realized I had been given the Lo mein with chicken cashews and white rice, no fried rice and no egg roll. Rice was over cooked and clumped together, couldn't eat it. The chicken cashews was very dry and I'm really not sure what the veggie was in it, maybe broccoli stalk. The Lo mein had more seafood stick in it than anything else, no beef and one tiny bit of chicken and not much flavor. Won't be back. read more

Yea, not a fan. I've read soo many great reviews on Facebook and really wanted to like it. Ordered the pupu platter appetizer and it was minimal - fried shrimp was over cooked and lacking, bone in spare ribs not much meat there. The teriyaki beef app was horrible, tender but had a strange consistency and taste. Crab Rangoon was crabby but dry. Fried rice was good, chicken lo mein and egg roll was good. Combo lo mein had imitation crab meat which changed the overall taste and I just couldn't eat it. Maybe we chose a bad night or the wrong menu items, but I'm not hurrying back unless I'm in desperate need of Chinese and no one else is open. read more

I have eaten here several times over the years. I have tried just about everything on the SPICY side of the menu, egg rolls, Gen Tso's Chicken is probably one of the best in the area. The fried rice is always steaming hot and perfect. they always have great lunch specials and are very friendly and polite. I recommend this place for everyone who is a Chinese food lover. These are OLD ratings (probably previous owner) and the average has NEVER changed...aka they are still posting the old stuff with nothing new. The post option is less than friendly. Anyway,our family and a number of friends have been eating Moon Star meals for several years. Jenny and/or Richard always greet us with a happy smile and greeting. The food has always been great...never less than a strong "Good". We are never disappointed. Sadly, the shopping center has died around them; both Anchor stores (Food Lion and Rite Aid) have left. There are mostly food shops there now, but little else to draw in casual shoppers. I know this young couple is struggling to survive in the current crisis economy. Moonstar is good restaurant. Though the interior isn't much to look at, this is due to the majority of their business being take-out, though dining-in is an option. First. the food is very tasty, and seems authentic. I've had poultry, beef and rice dishes, and all were great. My kids thought so, too. I have to agree with CR P., about their GTC. It is one of the best I've had anywhere, and I've consumed GTC from coast to coast. Their vegetarian dishes are very good, if you are looking to keep the calories down. When I was younger I loved this restaurant. We used to eat at it once a week. However, my recent visit was less than great. We ordered Hunan beef, and got home to see we got beef and broccoli instead. Also we got Pepper steak, and only had 6-7 pieces of beef, and all onion and peppers. 3/4th of the container was only peppers and onions. I was very disappointed, and very hungry.I will probably go again, but definitely with caution. read more

Hubby picked up a take-out menu from this place when he picked up take-out from Vinny's Sat. night. We decided to give them a try last night. They said they could make the egg drop soup vegetarian, so we both got that, then I got the Moo Shu Vegetable, hubby got the Bean Curd Szechuan Style, and we got a small order of Vegetable Lo Mein for our 15-month old. It was all pretty good. My only complaint was that some of the food leaked out in the to-go bag, which made things quite messy, but we will definitely order from here again. read more

The food was actually good, HOWEVER, if you make a mistake you should fix it without attitude I work in customer service and they don't have that when it comes to owning up to mistakes made. We called to tell them there were staples in the general Tso's chicken they acted like it was our problem and we were lying and when we asked to get different chicken they didn't want to do it but they sent a driver with chicken and the rest of our food was cold they would not bring warm rice which is all we asked so it would all be hot. We wanted them to see the staples they acted like we were inconveniencing them. After two hours we finally got our warm chicken cold rice and sides and luckily without choking or breaking a tooth!! And getting refund instead was out of the question!! read more
