This job was a follow up/plant replacement. Using the $100per tree replacement was easy and selection of a replacement tree was easy with the sales rep help. But, MV is a victim of their success so it was 3 wks from repurchasing to planting. Also, the replacement avocado that had a half dozen fruit at selection, was barren upon delivery. For a second time, an entire day was spent waiting for delivery that was first scheduled between Noon and four, then 8am-10am, with the final delivery at 2:30pm. It only arrived because Lead Chris Gill & his crew, Sean M & Michael T picked up the job from the original crew. The guys were quick, helpful, and open to planting suggestions. The replacement groundcover had to be delivered separately and a reasonable price break was given. The product arrived without the crew being delayed. Overall, Moon Valley is moderately pricey as most tree specimens are 24" box. While the insurance is also pricey, it worthwhile when a tree fails. They have a great selection and offer good guidance but they fail on follow up after the planting so you'll need to be your own advocate. Otherwise, you should have a good overall experience. read more

In Oct 2017 we bought 3 Crepe Myrtles and had them planted on our back slope. Shortly afterwards they went dormant and lost their leaves. When spring / summer arrived 1 of the 3 didn't develop any foliage and I thought it had died. I stopped in and spoke with Pat O'Neil who gave me some suggestions to try before having the tree replaced, which he said they would do if the tree didn't survive. I am soooo not happy with this company!!!! I went there 6 years ago trusting John Allen would listen to my needs and provide me with the best for my asks. NOT! I explained I needed something for privacy as well as noise and DID NOT want anything invasive. He shared as long as the trees were watered slow and low they would not be invasive. Paid to have this set up to ensure I was following his guidance. I also had an area that needed a replacement tree as the one that I had to remove (Magnolia) was pulling up my foundation. This was in when I bought the house. Fast forward 6 years... I just had to pay to have all 18 "FICUS" trees removed as well as a Camphor Multi "HUGE" tree. The Ficus trees invaded my entire foundation, has infiltrated and broken up my raised planter bed in my back yard PLUS has now caused a major irrigation breakage from the invasive roots. I paid $3500 6 years ago to buy these "NON INVASIVE" trees and had to pay $2,000 more to have the trees and part of the roots removed. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!!! I would not take any recommendation on trees from this firm! read more

What an absolutely incredible customer experience from start to finish. First, we were on the hunt for two show trees for our back yard and wanted them mature. Moon Valley obviously has the best selection in the country. We all know that. Second, the customer service at the nursery in Escondido was second to none. We had pictures of our planting spots and a limited knowledge of the soil in our area and the rep walked us through everything. We settled on an Eastern Red Bud and a Pink Trumpet. What was better was that we had to wait for the trees to become available and when they did, the rep sent us pictures of the four or five trees that were available and he gave us first right of refusal. We got to choose. So cool. Then came delivery day. Tyler Larochelle and his crew arrived promptly and were incredibly professional and knowledgeable. We couldn't believe the depth of knowledge that Tyler had on all things agriculture. It was impressive. These guys were fast, careful, meticulous, enthusiastic and even gave phenomenal recommendations on other possible plantings for the future. We honestly felt a little guilt for not using them for our larger landscaping project that had already been done. We would have hired Tyler and his team directly if we had the opportunity. All that being said, we are hooked on Moon Valley and all they provide. The quality of the product and the end to end customer experience are well worth the cost. I wish I could give zero stars. Classic bait and switch, overpriced and they do not back their products. Their "free planting" will almost guarantee your trees and plants will die. Convenient to have the same place sell and plant IF THEY SURVIVE. I had a empty (and ugly) wall with little privacy with my neighbor. He also helped me selecting new trees for my front yard. He was paying attention and knowledgeable. The day before delivery I received a call confirming a 2 hours window and day of delivery a call confirming they were on their way. It was over 90F on the day of installation. Manny and his team were amazing! Never complain about heat! He made sure the trees and plants were install exactly were I wanted. They protected the floor, cleaned up everything at the end. I would like to thank Marquez for his exceptional service yesterday on 02/25/22. I am amazed how knowledgable and informative he was to help me to chose the plants that i wanted. He also went abive and beyond his duty to send me a text with some pictures of fruit trees that i was interested in. Let me tell you that compared to last year, when i could not find a soul around to help me with any questions or help to load my car, it was nice to see that now there is actually help on the ground from consultstion to loading the car to purchase. We bought a tree from Moon Nursery a couple of weeks ago and scheduled a time to have it planted. Their staff followed up on the date and time, came on timexand drove up with a greet team of guys led by Manny. I love when you purchase a tree from Moon that they don't charge to put it in the ground. They dug the hole, made sure we liked the position of the tree and branches, used their soil, fertilized it and educated us on how to take care of it in its infancy and the future. Yesterday i posted a review and Moon Nurseries took my post down. So i am re-posting. My wife and I spent North of $5000. We were promised the best service and a guarantee on paper that Moon nurseries would cover a 90 day warranty on our trees and re-plant a brand new tree if we were not satisfied. My wife and I are educated when it comes to keepung our trees groomed, nourished and kept up, along with educated to energy factors for the individual plant/tree. Within 1.5 months 3/8 trees were dead. We called to get our warranty applied. We were avoided, and Moon Nurseries never honored their guarantee to give us a new tree let alone would not even pick up our calls. As soon as They had our money they could care less about the so called warranty. read more

Had an onsite appt. scheduled in La Jolla for today --need all new landscaping after 6 months of remodeling, seemed worth paying $200 for a Moon Valley designer onsite even though I have landscape plans already drawn up. Made appt. online last week with Kraig Harrison the Moonvalley designer for 'Del Mar, La Jolla, Carmel Valley' etc. as written ON THEIR MOON VALLEY WEBSITE. Received a reminder email from 'Kraig Harrison' this morning about the 10 am appt. THEN, no one appeared for the scheduled appt. Texted the Kraig's number and called it -- no answer. Called the office, they transferred me to Kraig's cell, which went straight to voicemail, again. Used the online 'chat' service, in which they apologized for the no show. No explanation given, couldn't do anything but 'send out an alert'. Over an hour later a message was left on my cell by another 'designer' stating "Kraig does not take La Jolla appts." (??!! Really?, its on their own webpage AND the appt. was made with my La Jolla address!), but this other designer would could make me another appt. for another time. I've now wasted 1 1/2 hrs. and have no faith Moon Valley are organized enough to do the job or even care (at the very least be professional enough to REMOVE 'Kraig' from the La Jolla scheduling system! Surely I'm not the only customer left hanging by the misinformation they post.) Sad, I've been waiting so long to get my landscaping done. read more

Yesterday, October 24th 2020 I went to Moon Valley Nursery in Escondido. The selection of plants and trees was amazing. And their prices are very reasonable. I was searching for oversized planters to plant two trees that I own. Luke helped me. He was patient about comparing sizes, styles, prices and materials of planters. Once we'd selected the planters he went the extra mile and hosed down the planters before lifting them into the trunk of my car. Luke was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Do NOT purchase any type of warranty on your trees because when it comes time to try to get someone to figure out why one of your expensive fruit trees are dying - nobody wants to reply or send someone out to look at the tree! Buyer beware. Hated the service and the experience dealing with them. Felt like dealing with a used car shady place. They said they will send someone to our property to tell us how many trees we need to surround it. They then told us we would need 43 trees and that they will charge us $150 for each, including planting, down from $200. We agreed and paid. After their guys showed up and planted the 43, they told us we will need 18 more. They brought them and planted. Only then they said we will need to pay $200 for each of the 18 extra trees. Bait and switch? Re-trade? Fraud? Game playing? We are never coming back to the place. read more

CROOKS DO NOT BUY FROM THEM We opened up a financing account for a tree we did not purchase. They never came out to do an initial survey, no services were rendered in any way and no product was delivered. We've been getting statement after statement from GreenSky who does their financing. GreenSky keeps pitching us back to Moon Valley. We keep calling Moon Valley to address this. Their reps are usually super courteous and apologetic, but our Green Sky has not been cancelled. Nate and Alex who initially helped us went MIA. (When we were purchasing, they were ALWAYS available) In fact, Moon Valley can't even find our transaction, yet we keep getting statements from Green Sky. I would really caution anyone looking for a tree to go somewhere else. Spare yourself this headache! read more

I contacted Moon Valley Nurseries to have trees planted on our property line for privacy I had no idea what I wanted to plant. Dan came out to the house to meet with me and was so knowledgeable. He made suggestions on what to plant and mocked up a layout with images. The crew came out today, lead by Luis, and they did such an amazing job. When they arrived I still wasn't sure about the tree placement so Luis set everything up for me to look at and allowed me to make adjustments before digging the holes and placing everything in the ground. I had to leave for the day and when I got home I was so impressed. Absolutely perfect! Bad experience all around. Lots of promises were made & not kept. Ultimately we spent a lot of money and are very, very unhappy with the whole experience. Planting crew seemed inexperienced, was not concerned with handing trees carefully, and only wanted to get done as fast as possible. One of the trees seemed very flimsy and poorly rooted. To top it all off, one of the planting crew made an inappropriate comment about me in Spanish not realizing I could understand what he was saying. Incredibly unprofessional. Not happy with any of it. Wish we had never set foot there. Angry that the whole experience seemed like a scam. Stay away from this place. read more
