It's always tough to pick the spot to enjoy your last meal before leaving Key West but we are so happy with our choice of Banana Cafe. We were promptly seated upstairs on a busy Sunday morning. The older home offered charm and character in its dining spaces which we always appreciate. Our caramel latte and banana bread latte were the best coffee we had on this trip. For our meals we chose a seafood crepe and a veggie breakfast scramble which we thoroughly enjoyed. The portion sizes were perfect and the prices were fair. We (3 of us) were going to have our last breakfast at Key West before heading home. We allotted about 1.5 hours to have a comfortable breakfast but this Bananas Cafe ruined our morning. We arrived around 11:10 am after checking out at the hotel, was seated almost immediately upstairs (they were not super packed). We placed our orders and waited about 25 minutes (we were all just using our phones so time went by without thinking much about it) but still nothing has arrived..... I checked with our waitress and she stated she checked with the kitchen and said our foods were coming. Five minutes later nothing came (it's now been 30 minutes). I checked with her again and she went back to the kitchen, she returned and stated the kitchen staff was very busy and they had other customers to take care of too..... We immediately asked for our check and I paid for my coffee and left. We ended up going to Frenchie's cafe down the block and had an amazing time. We had been to so many restaurants at Key West this past week and never had to wait more than 15 minutes for our foods to arrive. We aren't sure if the breakfast items at this cafe were any good but the wait time was beyond reasonable and no warning was given ahead of time. If this cafe cannot handle all the tables they allotted, they should not have so many tables and open both levels (two stories), seating your customers and need them to wait at least 30 minutes for breakfast tells me that your kitchen is unable to manage a 90% full customer base. read more

We stopped in for brunch. I had pepper onion cheese omelette. It was ok .... I think it did not look like a restaurant omelette. I could have made it look like that ..... my husband ordered curry chicken salad. It looked good, lots of it on a crusty hoagie roll. He had to save half. They squeeze you in. I've been to banana Café a few times over the past few years. Each time has been great. I really love the crêpes. You can get fruity or hearty. As expected their banana bread is delicious. Make sure you get some! The service is always great although sometimes the kitchen is slow to be served your food.. but you're in the Keys so no rush! There's upstairs seating and downstairs seating, and usually the wait goes quick if you arrive during prime breakfast hours. I'll keep returning back here for breakfast. Good service, went shortly before closing. I'm used to a different kind of crepe so this looked "burnt" to me but could just be kind of ingredients used. Tasted ok, got a strawberry cheesecake crepe but was not filled or anything more of a liquid. read more

We came here for lunch the other day. Here is what I thought. Atmosphere: I've been to the Banana Cafe on a previous trip to Key West and I was so excited to come back! The cafe is located near the southern end of Duval Street. The place is quaintly decorated. It had indoor and outdoor seating. Restroom: I used the single stall restroom upstairs. It was nice and clean! Service: Our service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Food: We loved our food. I got their 'BLT Sandwich' with friends and my husband for their 'Shrimp Salad Sandwich' with sweet potato fries. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food. It came out quick and was fresh. Was just here for dinner and had an enjoyable experience all around. It had been a really long time since I was last here. Nothing had changed and it was just as good as I remember! Met up with good friends and we were taking our time. Service was super attentive without being pesty. I was drinking a lot of water and was even brought extra glasses of ice. Nice quaint place for dinner. Thought the only served breakfast and was pleasantly wrong. Had a mahi sandwich on French bread. Every good. Wife had lobster blt. Being a traditionalist lobster should be cold with a touch of mayo. The lobster blt was fired lobster described as crispy. Tasted good but not what I expected. Good service. Breakfast off Duval Street can be a little challenging and definitely touristy, this is a cool little restaurant that was almost filled when we arrived but luckily we were able to get seated upstairs at a two top inside without a wait. The staff here was very friendly and extremely busy so not very attentive but we managed to get our food rather quickly although it was barely warm upon arrival. We chose the egg and bacon croissant with potatoes and a banana foster waffle both were just okay, if they were warm I think maybe we would be talking outstanding since they were of high quality. The coffee here is delicious but unfortunately not plentiful, again the staff was strained and working very hard but not as efficient as they could be, maybe a little more management over-sight on the floor. My sister and I stopped by this place because we love a good breakfast and Google listed it as #1 of the top 10 best breakfasts in Key West. We both had coffee and I ordered 2 soft scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, bacon & wheat toast and avocado on the side. These were the softest fluffiest eggs ever! She ordered the veggie scramble with wheat toast. The eggs were hot-the cheese was perfectly melted-taste in every bite! The bacon nice and crispy and wheat toast was on point. I highly recommend this place. The crepes & omelets looked amazing but I took the traditional route. Oxana was our server-she was always smiling and perfectly attentive.
