I have been going to Moonlight Beach Dental since 2015. I have always had a nice experince here till my last two visits. I'm very disapointed with with Dr. Vane. I go in more often to have my teeth cleaning and I always look forward to my two exams a year. I confirmed with the office manager Lani on the phone if I am scheduled this time for an exam, she confirmed that I was and then I saw my hygenist Shannon and she also confirmed with me that I am due for my exam. At the end of my visit with Shannon I was told Dr. Vane wants to see me at my next visit when I'm due for Xrays. I was disapointed because I wanted to make sure all of the dental work I have invested in is holding up nicely. Now that I have no other other dental treatment scheduled, it's as if Dr. Vane doesn't care about monitoring my existing dental work. I sat in my car shortly after leaving the office, within minutes I saw Dr. Vane outside texting on her phone. I walked back into the office to express my frustration and disappointment with Lani in regards to how Dr. Vane treated me. I'm happier than a Seagull with a French Fry! After FINALLY getting dental insurance I looked in the phone book and booked an appointment with the closest dentist to me. Huge mistake! I was told I needed several procedures that would have cost me quite a lot, even after insurance. Being depressed about it, I talked to a friend who suggested I meet with Dr. Vane. I started going to Moonlight Beach Dental and Dr. Vane a few years ago after switching from a dentist I'd gone to for many years that was just too far away. I liked what I read beforehand about Dr. Vane and her practice. Subsequently, not long after I switched I became unhappy with my experience with Moonlight Beach Dental, but I'd only had a few X-rays and cleanings so I kept going there. A few months ago I needed to have 3 fillings done and the overall experience was not the greatest during the appointment itself, from a comfort level point of view as it took close to two hours and having my mouth open for so long was very difficult for me. At least once done it was over and the work I needed completed. After the numbing agent wore off several hours later it felt to me like my bite wasn't right. I waited a couple days to see if that feeling changed, but it did not. I called the office and explained what was going on and went back in to have it checked. One of Dr. Vane's assistants worked on it for quite some time filing it down slightly and then she kept checking and rechecking my bite with the bite paper between each slight attempt. Dr. Vane came in and checked it at the end and determined it was good. I didn't feel for sure like it was, but waited a few more days to be sure. It definitely wasn't right so I called, got another appointment and shortly thereafter went back in for another attempt. At the end of that appointment by a different assistant Dr. Vane came in again and didn't even check it. She only asked me how it felt now and I said that it is hard to really tell yet as my jaw was so tired of all of the biting down on the paper checking it so much. She said "well, if that doesn't feel right then you must have a jaw or sinus problem and I will need to refer you to a specialist"! I left so frustrated a quite mad at her commentary. A day or two more went by and I could still tell my bite was wrong. I called the office yet again and left another message this time requesting that Dr. Vane call me back and why. I never got a call back from her or anyone in her office. I called again a few days later and left yet another message stating that my bite still felt wrong and I wanted to come back in. One thing was for certain... I certainly did not believe that all of a sudden I had a jaw or sinus problem because I never either of those problems before the work was done. Once again, I got no call back. The situation was so frustrating that I decided I needed to find a new dentist because I was determined to never go back to Dr. Vane or Moonlight Beach Dental ever again. One of the other things that I also noticed throughout this very unpleasant experience was how condescending Dr. Vane could be if you question anything or have an issue with! In my search for a new dentist I found two I was considering so I went to both of them to explain my bite problem following the work I had done and that I was also searching for a new dentist and wanted someone who was respectful, caring and listened to me especially if there was an issue I was having. This was none of what I found with Dr. Vane! In the end not one, but both of the dentists, determined one of the lower fillings was too low and causing the bite issue. They both recommended the same exact thing be done to correct it! I ultimately selected the dentist of these two who I felt best about overall. I went back to her two days later and she solved the problem that day! I will be gracious and give this dental practice a one star because of the nice office, but it should be a 0! read more

So far, so good. I was losing sleep from oral pain and needed my first-ever serious dental work (root canal and crown) on a near-emergency basis. (I had been one of those lucky cavity-free kids and young adults everyone else hates. :) ) Fortunately, Dr. Vane was available, and she had time to provide a marathon single-session full procedure. On discharge I was offered some mild pain medication, but I ended up not needing to take it, and I was immediately back to my customary good night's sleep. While in the office she and her team were super friendly and very professional. I was able to get the crown done same-day and they were also kind enough to fit me in for a cleaning and fitted me for bleaching trays. To start positive, I have had great experience here in regards to the services I have received, which is why I have tried to stick it out. That being said, I am so disappointed in the treatment I have received from the admin side of things. And after looking through other comments, I see I am not the only one... It started with my first appointment. I had my X-rays sent over from my previous dentist, was told if I may need to pay if I didn't have those X-rays, and before I let anyone touch my mouth, I made sure to ask if they had received the X-rays and they were okay. I was told they did and I was all set to do X-rays and it wouldn't cost me anything. Sure enough, I get a bill in the mail a couple weeks later for $80. I called the front desk and she was never consistent with me of what went wrong, so I decided to just pay it, because I really loved Dr Vane. I came back in in December for a cavity that I was quoted a certain price for. Upon leaving, the price was significantly higher than what I was quoted and trying to have the front desk girl break it down for me just made me more frustrated. She assured me I would be reimbursed if I was overcharged or insurance paid more. I went home and had her send me the breakdown again and I still thought it was wrong, so I called my insurance. Sure enough, my insurance informed me they overcharged by adding fees that were already included in the price. I called Lani, the office manager, explained the situation and she confirmed I was correct and I would receive a refund in a couple days. A couple weeks went by and nothing, so I called again. I have yet to get in contact with her since the beginning of January. I have done everything except actually go in, which I have contemplated, but they have already wasted too much of my time. I feel totally disregarded and bummed, because I really loved the dentist, but no longer want to support an establishment that blows off paying customers. I will not be returning to Moonlight Beach Dental. I will preface this review by saying that I had a great experience on my first visit. After my cleaning, I was instructed to make a follow-up appointment to get some of my fillings redone. We scheduled it for the following week. Right after that first appointment, my current dental insurance had expired because I had left my current company to pursue my own business. Unfortunately, the process to get a new dental insurance provider took a bit longer than expected. Hoping that I would get my proof of insurance in the mail before my next appointment, I confirmed that I would still be available for the appointment when they called a few days prior to confirm. Unfortunately, when I had yet to receive a confirmation on my new insurance, I decided to give Moonlight Dental a call to let them know I will have to reschedule. I called a day in advance, but apparently, since I was calling 22 hours in advance and not 24 hours in advance, I was told they were going to charge my credit card $72?! They did not communicate this at all until I made this phone call. If it had known, I would have called earlier...which would have had to have been the second they opened. After explaining my situation to the gentleman over the phone, all he could do was apologize and say that I would be getting charged. I did not want to write this yelp review, but I had written in to the dental office to explain my situation and how I would like them to reconsider this ridiculous charge. Pros: Clean office, Shannon is a great and friendly dental hygienist. Cons: -I have never experienced a doctor or a dentist that makes you pay up front before billing insurance. This office is adamant about you paying your share of the services based on an "estimate". I was told that my insurance was a out of network provider and they don't want to wait for the coverage from my insurance company to get reimbursed hence I need to pay my share upfront. Every time I have had to pay upfront I have been overcharged for my "estimated" share. Each time I have had to call them for my reimbursement rather then the office following up with me. I think it's ridiculous that I have to follow up for a reimbursement on me being overcharged. -I am not sure what the company's policies are but they sure seem to push you into more services and products each visit. -I have a lot of work on my teeth over the years and never have I ever had a dentist have to poke me more then once to numb my mouth....until today. I can't say enough about the Endodontist Dr. "Bre" Barrineau and her righthand assist Gigi. They are a magical team and go the extra mile to make biological endo treatments comfortable, fully biocompatible, and thorough. I especially appreciate Dr. Bre's warmth and her self-proclaimed pickiness with her work. She has had her work cut out with my treatment plan and has been endlessly positive and refreshingly human about it all. It's noble for an Endodontist and Dentist Team to choose to practice biological methods, to help patients' health, over easier and non-holistic ones. My fourth visit and will not be returning. Each visit has been worse than the last. My time with the dentist after my cleaning was rushed, uncomfortable, and extremely impersonal. My questions weren't really answered. Most comments were made to the hygienist in dental lingo rather than to me. Felt so rude and disconnected. This wasn't the first time I was treated this way either. Invisalign is pushed at every visit, got forbid you are born with crooked teeth and don't have thousands to drop to straighten them. I mentioned teeth that the dentist had previously filled were sensitive and the dentist told the hygienist, not me, that she would re-do the filling. Whattt?? The dentist has already had to "re-do" a previous filling, and for anyone who has fillings know, this is not pleasant and there was no explanation as to why this was even suggested??? Then the dentist scurried out of the room to another patient. I had to clarify everything I "over heard" with the hygienist and was like so that's the end of my consult??? WTH. I have been coming to Moonlight Dental for about 1.5-2 years. The hygienists are great! Everyone is super friendly and attentive. I really like the "alternative treatments" they offer like ozone therapy, and how they are aware of certain toxins (my mouth guard I purchased through them is BPA free, and no dentist I have ever gone to has even cared about that). MUST READ!!! I've had various dentists over the years. Never have I felt the need to write a 5 star review after. I'm so happy with Dr. Vane (Nicole) and her entire staff. I do need to share it. If you are looking for a dentist, if you are nervous about going to the dentist, even if your kids are worried about the dentist, then look no further after you read my experience. Yesterday I went into Dr. Vane's office for a,"Deep Cleaning" and two extractions. All in the same visit. I nervously sat down in the chair awaiting my cleaning. There was even a tv on the wall for me to watch. I chose to listen to the excellent music selection of Nikki. As I laid back in the chair with my sunglasses on they gave me (so the light's above wouldn't be too bright) she began. I was worried about the shots going in my mouth, I didn't feel 1 of them. Even the deep cleaning wasn't too painful. On a scale of 1-10, she didn't go over 5. Honestly the best and most comfortable part of the cleaning was listening to Nikki sing and hum the music softly. My nervousness and anxiety went away. Sounds crazy, but I really felt comfortable during a deep cleaning if that's even possible. She did great. Then I was asked,"If I wanted to do my extraction's now"? I was coming in next week anyway, so why not? As Dr. Vane and Olivia prepped me for the extractions, I was feeling assured and comfortable already. I felt no pain at all as I watched Dr. Vane "gently" remove my two baby molars. Would you ever think someone to use the word "gently' to describe tooth extraction's? Me neither. After the extractions, Dr. Vane capped my gum's and the stitched them up for cleaner healing. I felt no pain last night or all day today. They warned me of possible post pain, but I didn't experience any. After my procedure's Jenna and Brooke explained my "post procedure" care. From a warm welcome into the office, to clear and easy instruction's after, these two ladies are great. I walked in as a patient and left as a friend! I can't speak highly enough about the level of comfort in the office (even aroma therapy), the knowledge, and the professionalism of Dr. Vane and her entire staff. They are simply incredible. Recently I broke a front crown. Dr. Vane took me for a quick appointment and got everything fixed beautifully within days. Another time she gave me advice that prevented a bad situation with a root canal. She's thorough, very quick and is always educating herself on the latest techniques. Can't say enough about the staff They are kind, remember details about me, helpful and provide good tips on dental hygiene. I am a huge wuss when it comes to pain, and they always make sure I've got enough Novocaine to feel comfortable. As a plus, her office is beautiful, relaxing and in a gorgeous location with ocean breezes. And I can watch Disney movies during all the procedures, and no one laughs when I choose Finding Nemo. Dr. Nicole Vane is fantastic! I needed a root canal and had several old silver fillings that needed to be replaced, and she took such good care of me! She was so accommodating as far as my schedule, and she worked with me to make helpful financial arrangements. Her staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I'm so pleased that I found Dr. Vane and I can't recommend her highly enough; she's awesome. One more thing...her movie selection is outstanding. read more
