Fantastic burgers! We came here before a Pens game and we tried (1) The Big Mick - Double, and (2) Moonlit Burger - Double. Both burgers were fantastic. The Big Mick is a bit of a mess: coleslaw, fries, and hot sauce on it, but it was just delicious. Service was fast, even though the line goes out the door. Tried this place last night for the first time before home Pens game and the line was out door but it moved fast! You order at the counter, get a number and then they deliver the food to where you are sitting. My husband snagged an empty stool seat and I waited in line and ordered. I give it a 5/5 for the quickness on a packed game night. Our drinks came out within a minute or two of sitting down and then surprisingly our food came out almost immediately afterwards. They have a nice little bar in the back, lots of seats throughout the store which mostly are large communal tables and some private booths. I tried the Moon bird (chicken sandwich) based on a recommendation and enjoyed it. The shoestring fries were just okay. My husband had the double cheeseburger and the patties were so thin!!! He was extremely disappointed. I am curious if the food would be a little better on a non-game night. A lot of people have mentioned that it's super greasy and we didn't notice that at all with our meals. I was glad I went for chicken instead. They have a a nice little drink selection. I was actually very surprised when I walked into the spot. I've drove past this location so many times not even aware it was there. It is located at the old Primanti's that sat at the corner of Penn Avenue in Garfield. We decided to come here one evening when the power was out. When I say that was a good call. When you walk in go to the register place your food order, they give you a number and you take a seat wherever you would like, and they will bring the food to you. I'm not a huge Smashburger person however my 22-year-old and 17-year-old boys are big fans of Smashburgers. They said it was one of the best ones that they've had in the city. To be honest for me to not be a Smashburger person I will say I truly enjoyed the flavor of this Smashburger. Great food, great price, good service all right close to downtown Pittsburgh and Duquesne

Went here with my family for my graduation party. We had most of the patio that is enclosed with heaters which was nice for the little kids to run and do their thing. You order before you sit and then they bring out the food to you. Food is super good as it's my first time going here and I love their fries. I'm so glad they offer gluten free buns since a lot of places do not. The service was lovely too and they were kind and not rude. I had to get a to-go box which they were nice about and a burger to go, still really nice service. Parking is not the best, I parked in the alley way and there is a lot of "no parking" signs along with construction so I do wish this place had better parking and it probably can get really busy with an event happening so plan ahead. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to Moonlit Burgers! My friend and I went before a concert at PPG Paints, so it was pretty busy... the line was initially out the door. However, it went by really fast! My friend and I both ordered the classic moonlit double and split an order of the smash fries. We noticed the basket of fries were pretty large so we had planned on splitting them anyways. The burger was really good! Greasier than I would prefer but I still would order again. The smash fries were also delicious and we liked the cheese! Popped by after seeing a fun play at Duquesne University's Genesius Theatre. We literally just beat the hungry hordes that descended on the place before a PPG Paints Arena show. Line was out the door and every seat was taken within 30 minutes. There's a reason they wait in line for this food. It was seriously one of the juiciest, most flavorful and different burgers I have ever eaten. The edges of the Classic burger are this crunchy mouth bomb and the sautéed onions and sauce with the ooey gooey melted cheese just blows the top off of the whole deal. I had an amazing celiac-safe meal here! I got the bacon cheeseburger with a gluten-free bun, fries (from their dedicated fryer), and a caramel milkshake. My favorite GF burger in PGH! They took celiac safety seriously--clearly marking my order and even cleaning the milkshake machine before making mine. I've been wanting to go here for a while, and i'm so glad I finally did!! The workers were super nice, and the vibe of the restaurant was great. I loved all the neon lights. I got the regular double cheeseburger, but I wish I got the bacon cheeseburger instead because the garlic sauce on it was SO GOOD. Definitely getting it next time. Ate here for the first time this past weekend before going to a hockey game. Place was very clean, staff was very nice, over all great atmosphere. I didn't realize I had to order fries in addition to my burger, so I had to steal some fries off my husband's burger but thats ok. The food was very very delicious. The manager ended up taking our food and drink orders because the bartender left the bar without even asking if we were ready for either. I had a couple of their cocktails and enjoyed both. The Equinox Daiquiri was the perfect end of summer drink and the strawberry mojito was good too. The food is presented without any frills but the classic double burger I got was really tasty, especially with the grilled onions and Moon sauce. I thought it was okay overall, not as good as I hoped. Got the double moonlit burger. It was decent. I like the patty and thought it was a good smash ratio. But could've used some salt/pepper. The cheese and potato bun was decent. Overall I think some veggies are needed to balance out the fats. Smash fries were mediocre imo. The fries are definitely on the crispy side, with minimal potato, very much like a shoestring fry (boring, my fault, whatever). I swapped the cheese sauce for a cheddar cheese, but unfortunately the cheese wasn't melted. (How can you serve it unmelted :(..??) The patty is nice to enjoy on the fries. The sauce, shoestrings, and jalapeños just don't jive well. Pittsburgh, what has happened to your standards and tastebuds? 4.4-4.6 for this place? I feel like I ought to check myself into that nearby Mercy hospital for a stomach cleanse after eating here. The classic moonlit double came out and you couldn't even tell it was a smash burger, or even a "burger" at that--I initially thought it was remnant pieces from shaved beef (think Philly cheesesteak). The meat patties were no more than 1/8" each and it was a double. The only redeeming thing on the sandwich was the caramelized onions and their moon sauce. The fries were either too salty or not seasoned at all. They use Millie's ice cream to make their milkshake. All in all, the food was terrible and probably clogged my arteries so bad and was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Service was fast and attentive. Inside was clean and spacious. That's about that. Won't be returning. Save your health and your wealth for something else. You would've had a better meal and value from getting a double cheeseburger from McDonald's--at least their meat patties are thicker. Does that tell enough? read more
