Today stopped of for for a cheeseburger which rated a BIG 5, the reason for the mediocre review of a 3 is due to the fries, they were twice cooked in old oil which made them extremely greasy. Old oil makes the look burnt and gives them crusty outside which makes them hold oil. These fries were soggy with grease, and in my opinion were prime candidates for heath department investigation. Having been a cook in several restaurants over the years I would never let something leave my kitchen in that condition. The hamburger was great; try them. Service was mediocre had to get my own napkin waitress never came back to check our table after dropping off food. This place has great potential they just need to focus on service and food quality. read more

So just FYI but the actual restaurant here is towards the back of the Terrible's Road House casino and is called "Moonshiners." I got the 2-meat brisket and St Louis ribs combo and a $1.50 shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was fine - can't complain for a buck-fifty. The brisket was cut a little too thick (about an inch thick slice - would have been nice getting it cut into 1/4"-1/2" slices... it seemed relatively tender but trying to eat brisket sliced that thick isn't very easy. The ribs were OK too. I could definitely taste the smoke flavor but it was relatively underwhelming compared to hickory and or mesquite smoked meats. Baked beans were pretty good and the mac n cheese was alright. One of my friends got the hot link sandwich which he seemed to like, and another got the chicken fried steak which was just "ok" in his words. Overall, I'd say 3.5 stars for the food. Our server was friendly but service is a tad on the slow side. The hostess made up for it though and gave us a little discount without telling us (I went up to ask about it and she said "I gave you a discount!", so that was nice of her). It was fine - we just took our time and enjoyed the food, after a long day of training at Frontsight. The strong smell of smoke was a bit off-putting but bearable. Ventilation could be a a little better in the casino and especially the restaurant but I guess they figure most of the clientele are the people gambling on the casino-side so why bother, plus most people probably don't even think it's an issue. But if you don't smoke, it can be off-putting as I said. The casino itself is pretty small, so the smoke probably gets a lot more concentrated inside... if chain-smoking gamblers would just convert to coffee, we wouldn't have these problems (unless you hate the smell of coffee). read more

Arrived at 10:30pm waited at the table for 15 minutes WITHA DINNER MENU to be given a new menu and asked to pick something else off this much smaller grave shift menu that starts at 11pm when it's only 10:45 and we've already been waiting 15 minutes. When we asked why she said I don't know there's another waitress I'll ask why she didn't help you yet. ILL NEVER RETURN OR SUGGEST ANYONE! This was horrible customer service we show up at 10:30 and given a new menu that starts at 11. Sad idea of customer service for anyone running Terrible's see this review and know the people you have running your place!! Literally chasing people and money away. We really like this place. Food in cafe is good and wait staff better have a good sense of humor while serving us. Casino is fun as they have bonus games while playing. A bit smoky is all. Keeps our stay shorter so we either don't lose much, or we leave when we are ahead. read more

Without a doubt, the best burger in town! We eat at Moonshiners usually once a week, food is always very good. There has only been one time when we were there for the special and my pork chop was under cooked and had to be sent back, considering though that we have eaten there many times before and after and has always been good, I'm not going to complain! read more

Great place to stop at. Awesome food and especially the 2 for 1 rib dinner was great. Quality burgers and fries and the people working there are special too. The art of the cheap shrimp cocktail is dying. First the Strip left it behind, along with reasonable buffets. Then Fremont... Though you can still play black jack for less per hand than it costs to feed a family of four at taco bell, there are no more cheap shrimp cocktails. Then the "locals" joints... Station casinos, first, and over time, even the smallest places forgot it. Pahrump, (and small, locally patronized casinos which dominate small town horizons all over nevada) were the last hold out of good, cheap shrimp cocktails. But prices have steadily climbed. Moonshiner's, in the Terrible's Roadhouse, is fighting to keep the dream of the cheap shrimp cocktail alive. And, at least within the confines of their pleasant, interestingly decorated dining room, they're winning. It's delightful. For a dollar fifty, you expect a single, sad shrimplet, crying tears of watery, bland cocktail sauce, brought to you by a salty old broad with one eye and a bad attitude. Nay. A bevy of succulent wee shrimp morsels, bathed in gloriously spiced (but not TOO hot) cocktail sauce over a bed of cool, crisp lettuce arrives in a traditional flute, in the game of a smiling, conversational waitress. That's only the beginning. The happy lass will then ferry over any number of other appetizers, each more succulent than the last (I recommend the Crispy Pork Nuggets, which will satisfy your inner adventurer with tangy, sweet sauce, while calming any fears of difference or spontaneity with its homey, smiley familiarity), followed by an entree that would be right at home in any mom and pop, labor of love bbq joint. Malty, moist, perfectly sauced pulled meats? Of course. Hot links and grilled chickens? Yup. Brisket? You gotta be kidding, the stuff's made to please angels. Don't like bbq? One of the best fish sammiches I've ever had, right here in Pahrump. Hand smashed, perfectly breaded chicken fried steak (that's well worth the extra ten minute wait) is just down the road. Burgers? While I dismay at the notion that you'd pass over the excellent specialized fair for a mere burger, they do their level best to ensure the word "mere" is not appropriate, press grilling patties to perfection and offering a wide range of the usual, and more unorthodox, toppings. And the sauce! What quality, what variety! Like any good bbq, there's Carolina, Memphis, Texas, Honey, and more! All on par or better than fair you might drove over an hour to sample. They pour a damn good Jack Daniels too. So don't let the "Pahrump Casino" locale put you off. Brave the walk through the slots to find a nice, quiet, tasty meal with some good friends, and enjoy one of the best restaurants around. Not just in Pahrump, but anywhere. read more

Went to go have the Father's Day special. Was told there was a waiting list and it was going to be 45 minutes. Didn't have a problem waiting. But what made me made it that seated a couple that wasn't even on the list. So I asked the host why did she seat them they weren't on the list. And then she got an attitude with me. I got a seat order my special but to find out it wasn't what I wanted. It was supposed to be prime rib and they ran out and now asking brought out porter house steak. It was ok but not what I was wanting. read more

We didnt have any idea of what to expect when we decided to eat here. Pleasantly surprised! Service was top notch, food was really better than expected, Porterhouse, chicken fried steak and fried chicken meals we had ordered were excellent. Beer was ice cold. We've lived in Pahrump since 2009 and we've asked every breakfast place that we go to if they have (fresh chicken fried steak) & they all have said no, it's frozen....but now at Terrible's Road House....they said yes, they tenderize fresh round steak, and then flour it and then fry it up fresh....so we ordered it, and it was great...loved it, very tasty, fresh & tender....the eggs were cooked just like we ask for them, and the hash browns were great too + the biscuits & gravy were fresh and very tasty....loved it here, we have now been back many times. They also do (Fried Catfish) very well too. read more

My wife and I have eaten there several times now and we have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt however, the food and service is just not what is expected from a otherwise nice casino. Cheap paper menu, plastic cup for our beverages, silverware was bent and cheap. And then there was the food. It was a gamble at best . Sorry but we give up. We will not be back. read more

Had salad bar with soup. Salad bar was fair-blue cheese dressing watery. Soup however, was luke warm. Very disappointing. Soup would have been good had it been hot. Service was good. BBQ smelled good but just wasn't hungry enough to order any. read more

This place is pretty good! The kc bbq sauce was my favorite sauce! I got the two meat plate. The ribs were good but didn't have as much meat on there, the pulled pork was delicious, the potato salad was kind of sour (kind of weird), and the mashed potatoes were great. (: the fried Mac n cheese is a must! I'll come back here if I ever come back to Pahrump! The only thing I didn't really like was the service. This was the most amazing place I have ate at in Pahrump. The food was amazing and the staff is outstanding! I couldn't have been more taken care of. We both ordered the pulled a pork, and it's amazing! The fries are okay. They have awesome gravy and the Mac n' cheese is to die for. We also ordered the fried Mac and cheese. That is my new favorite food. The portions are huge and very fairly priced. I definitely recommend this place to EVERYONE. We will absolutely be back soon. read more

Try the barbecue brisket or pulled pork. Both very good. It's one of the few places that still serves liver and onions. Very tasty. The dining area is nicely decorated, clean and spacious with booths and tables. read more

We've eaten here a couple of times now - a couple of dinners and a breakfast. We had no complaints - the food was priced well and delicious.. We also like the casino - great selection of slots and we've done well on them. This is our favorite casino in Pahrump. read more

Had dinner there last night about 5 pm, got right in and service was right on the spot, BBQ chicken salad was more then I could eat and the cost was about right for what I got. Terrible's Road House Restaurant in Pahrump, Nevada it great....they have a great breakfast, and for an example of (Chicken Fried Streak) most places we've been throughout Nevada is frozen....not here at the (Road House), is is the real thing.....cooked to order, and it is great....and all of their breakfast options are great....and the lunch and dinner is great too....we love it here, and if you get a chance, try their (Catfish Dinner) it is great, and so is the (Prime Rib)....we recommend this restaurant, they do it right. read more

The best and the worst. Their chicken fried steak is one of the best I've had. Even better than Mom's Diner, and cheap. Now for the worst. The b/f was so good that I bought Bbq for takeout. The brisket looked like the fatcap, 95 percent fat. Threw it out. So zero on the brisket and 5 on the CFS. read more

We have eaten at the roadhouse 3 times. Two of those times were for the Saturday Prime Rib special 2 for 17.99. This is a very popular special and it pays to bet there early they start serving it at 4:00 p.m. At first glance it looks like a pretty thin cut but it is delicious and it ends up being more than enough. I was stuffed both times after eating it. It comes with baked, mashed, or french fried potatoes and veges. It is a great meal when you consider it works out to be about $8.50 a dinner. It can't be beat. The 3rd meals we had were not great. My husband had Chicken Fried Steak that seemed to be baked and not crisp. Not good. And I had a smoked Turkey Club that was ok. That meal was not something that would bring us back in. Food is served quickly and waitresses are top notch! Definitely would eat here though when you are in town for the Prime Rib dinner. Oh and the casino is great could be bigger but its nice. They also has seating in the bar area if you just want drinks as well and that is something that seems to be lacking at the other casinos in town. read more

If you want BBQ and a great ambiance this is the place. The atmosphere is set in Prohibition Moonshine Era. The food selection is ok if you want anything other than bbq. I recommend the appetizers. It is nicely out of the smoking zone. The sauce buffet is a nice amenity. The weekend brunch is a great value. read more

Heard a lot about this place before the great shutdown but since reopening been here twice with not so good service or food. Inside is nice and decor is pretty cool. Last visit Ordered straight bourbon on ice while we waited for order prep and after 45 mins was told they did not find that on the beer menu....after explaining what bourbon was it showed up in a large shot glass no ice. Food took a loooong time to arrive 1+ hour. Chicken fried steak was ok but gravy was great. Mashed taters were pretty dry, hoping they were out of a box. Baked Chicken portion was over done and fries were not very good. Just hope they can train the servers a little better and pick up the quality of the food. And plz do not go there with more than four people in a party. You have to wait for everyone to arrive and be present and then they seat you by 4 with the separation rules...so what's the point of waiting for a large party to arrive if you cannot sit at the same table? read more

Today was Father's Day I took my husband there and waited for over 1 1/2 hours to get in. The hostess was obviously seating her friends first and not going by the list because some people was seen driving in after some of us had already put our names on the list but was seated first. Once we were seated it took the waitress 45 min to just bring us water and coffee we was not offered a refill or given one. The Prime Rib was the special but they were out of that... The waitress finally got our order that was another 30 min wait... Came back after another 45 min and told us someone lost our order so we had to reorder our food wait another 40 min. Later the food that was brought to our table was the wrong order... another wait the next order was totally wrong... Way over cooked... Our ticket was someone else's and the cashier was rude and needed a swift kick... We will NEVER come back here again!! My Husband was so angry over the wait and poor service he asked for a discount... They took the price of a cup of coffee off the ticket... Total time to wait... Eat ... And pay was 3 1/2 hours... Never come here... Should we have left yes!! But we also felt it was right to see if the old Terribles customer service and quality was still honored... It isn't... Same name though What happened to the quality of food and service the Herbst Family once had here in Pahrump???? If negative stars was possible I would give them a -5 read more

This place has great food. The brisket is to died for. It is amazingly juicy, and they have tons of bbq flavors. And the plate size is huge! Not to mention it is CHEAP! The breakfast buffet is YUMMY ALL you can eat.! The only problem i have about this place is they could improve their customer service skills. The waiter we had for dinner was very rude. She barely gave any eye contact and only once came back to our table because my husband had to go get up and ask for a server. She also lied about having baked potatoes, She told us they do not do baked potatoes. Then once the food came, we saw both the tables near us getting a baked potatoes as a side. One other problem is that this place is in a casino. You would have to walk through the casino which has a STRONG cigarette smell. If you can not small the smoke in the restaurant but it could be a headache just walking through it to get to the restaurant. It is also a small place. So do not be surprise if you have to wait awhile and smell the smoke awhile before you could be seated. Over all this place has good food. I would go back again just for the food but not for the service. read more
