Went with a friend here to check out their cupcakes and pies...I didn't but the pies and cupcakes, but I sure did buy their chocolate chip, chewy chocolate and yummy cinnamon crisp. I wish I bought a lot of cinnamon crisp. Its really crispy and sweet! Perfect for someone who has sweet tooth like me! Price is affordable. Service is good. My friend kept asking what's the price of their stuffs and what was on it, and the staffs never got mad or show any annoyed behavior. They just kept on answering what was ask and they were really helpful. Parking is just terrible. But I don't really care because I am going back to this place. I had the salmon burger, and my friend had the salad special. The salmon patty tasted like it was ordered from a vendor like sysco or US FOODS, which was a shame because I was expecting fresh seafood due to the close proximity this restaurant has to the ocean, but it was good none the less. The customer service was efficient but not as warm and welcoming as I would have preferred. The next morning my travel-partner got some pastries which was fantastic. There weren't many smiles from the staff, but we did come on a monday/tuesday after a busy summer weekend so the staff could have been tired or burnt out from a busy season. Mocha was the perfect amount of chocolate & espresso. Their chocolate chip cookie was completely underwhelming, and we spotted flies in the pastry cases. They are super weird about using their restroom. When you are this worried about people using the restroom, along with the $.25 cc charge, it turns customers away. read more

Strange business model! Walked in 15 minutes before closing time, selected a loaf of bread, a couple of cookies and ordered 2 chai lattes. We were told they had already shut down the espresso machine. We asked to speak with a manager and we were told shutting down the espresso machine early was the owner's decision. Apparently they didn't want to have to pay their staff to stay after closing long enough to shut the machine down. Needless to say we walked out and headed down the street and got a couple of great chai lattes that included decent customer service! read more

I will try to keep it short, this cafe is horrible. 1. I got several pieces of paper in my disgusting overpriced cookie. 2. The service sucks, rude, and think only people with brown skin speak Spanish "I heard that!" 3. Mess up orders regularly and are rude if you complain. 4.Owner is a pretentious condescending snob. 5. Nothing is priced, because if you knew the price you would go elsewhere. I live just down the street from this place and am disappointed that a such a beautiful bakery with a great location could be so bad. I have given them more than enough chances to redeem themselves but never again. After my last trip when I was over charged and snubbed on a side dish, leading to a time wasting discussion with the owner, I dang near flew off the handle in this place. I stopped in for breakfast between appointments hoping to get some work done. Fast Internet and good food! Well done. It's a bit of a dive but the pastries and bread look amazing. I ordered an omelet with ham, cheese, and onions. It's was very good. Quality ingredients, served warm, and for an extra touch the onions were carmelized. They have low carb options so I had tomatoes and fruit instead of toadt. Presentation is basic with plastic trays and no frills. Service is fast and focused. Next time I'll try the coffee! read more

After buying a coffee I accidentally spilled it halfway through when I was tending to my 4 year old. I told the people behind the counter and they were very rude and made me feel horrible by eye rolls after a "we'll clean it up". No offering to pour me another coffee. I had a terrible experience at Moonside. I stopped in at 4:30 after a lovely day in the HMB coastal area. A stale peanut butter cookie with a waxy chocolate coating & two mochas that tasted like watery hot chocolate. When I went back to the counter to make the coffee situation known, the barista ignored me for quite a while, then dumped an ounce of coffee (left-over from someone elses drink) into my cup & walked away! At 4:45 while we're drinking "coffee" in the (indoor) courtyard they start putting chairs up on tables around us & spay windex on the tables around us. The smell of ammonia made a bad experience even wose. Too bad I have to give it even one star. Overpriced- stale bakery item- watery mocha- terrible service and a boot out the door-- don't bother coming to THIS coffee spot! read more

Moonside has been my favorite bakery for as long as I can remember. Their chocolate croissant has always been my favorite and it stands the test of time. I like to order a cookie or two in addition to whatever pastry I get(depends on how early i get there) and they have the best seasonal cookies! The fondant sandwich cookies are wonderful! I like to get a hot chocolate with whipped cream and before I leave I eat all the whipped cream because its so good, nothing like homemade whipped cream. Since they had a major staff change a while ago service has been more curt than I was used to but I think they're warming up to me. Either way I love this bakery, the owners are wonderful and I look forward to my next visit. read more

Pretty much can't miss on bakery items- we've had elephant ears (kid's fave), key lime tart, and meringues from here and all were delicious. I came in here for a coffee and a pastry. There were two girls behind the counter, one was helping the person in front of me the other was cutting bread or something. Within 2 minutes of me standing in line, 4 other patrons show up and we are all waiting. The owner (?) comes out from the kitchen and motions to the girl cutting bread (and ignoring the line) to help the people waiting. She BLATANTLY rolls her eyes at him, drops what's in her hands, sighs and asks "can I help you?". It was so obviously disrespectful to the owner I actually laughed at the unabashed disrespect. I've come here before and this isn't abnormal. The baked goods might be delightful but you'll have to deal with some passive aggressive staff to get them. read more

The pastries, muffins, cookies and cakes all look beautiful but a big caveat on the taste and freshness as well as customer service as other reviewers have mentioned. I live in town and I am appalled at the unfriendly attitudes of the staff here. It is very unwelcoming! The staff member also gave out incorrect information on items that contained nuts which is a serious problem for one allergic consumer. I bought almond croissants, pumpkin muffin, apple strudel, chocolate croissant, and a bran muffin for a staff treat. Everyone agreed the items must've been old. They were stale and tasteless. I would've returned the items no one wanted to eat because these items are expensive, but the rude staff and management kept me from even attempting to ask them to refund me or replace items with fresh baked ones. People go to bakeries expecting fresh baked goodness and if I'm going to waste my calories on an occasional sweet treat it should be at least an enjoyable experience! Since this corner bakery shop is in a prime location on Main Street in a small farming town, one would expect warm friendly welcoming service but no effort is given to provide that atmosphere here. An alternative I recommend to tourists and locals alike is to try the Half Moon Bay Coffee Company instead. read more

Short story. Great bakery living on its reputation that feels like the owners have abandoned day-to-day management. I used to love this place. Have been coming here for over a decade. The apricot half moons and hazelnut rings were unique and spectacular. The small pizza breads were good and chewy. However in the last year or so the customer service or simply the lack of any service has made this a bakery in a slow decline. (read the rest of the reviews and you'll get a feel of it.) Been going there for YEARS, the service has gotten worse and worse by the month, I went today and the 18 year old with an attitude dished it out good to me cause I interrupted her from gossiping with the other women who work there, there were all 4 of them in the back there were 3 customers behind me obviously the workers didn't care even though the customers pay for their salaries, I will contact the owner and let her know they all need more training tourist go there on the weekends if they get bad customer service they maybe not come back.BTW nothing has prices so you don't know hiw. Very good food diminished by sub par service. Conveniently located on Main St in Half Moon Bay, Moonside has a nice outdoor seating area. We enjoyed a sausage scramble and cheese omelette. Both were accompanied by tasty potatoes and a small ration of fruit. When our food was brought out we asked for salt as our table had none. We were told there was some inside (we were sitting outside) but we had to get it ourselves. We did. Then we found no butter on or with toast so it was another trip inside to get it ourselves. The water and juice was served warm with no ice. That food was actually very good and it is a shame the service was so lousy. I would give the food 4 stars and the service a 2.5. The poor people that work here are treated like dogs & are miserable! We witnessed the old female owner being cruel to her workers each visit and one time arguing with a patron as well. Our last visit, my husband was asked to pay $1.00 for 2 cups of bad TAP WATER with our paid meals! Is that even legal? Outrageous! Baguette is the best thing to get here. This German style bakery sells breakfast, lunch, bread, am pastries and desserts. I have yet to try their coffee since they got all new machines. Their cookies are $$ and tend to be under baked. Go here get a baguette or a danish and you'll be happy. read more
