This was hyped up to the point I thought no way could a tuna salad sandwich live up to the expectations I'd built for it. My husband got their veggie hummus and I the tuna. The hype is real. I. Mean. Daaaaamn! Soooo good, one of the best Tina salad sandwiches ever I've had. Not gloppy with mayo, restrained with spicing and super fresh with bread they had baked on premises, not some packaged crap. My husband loved his hummus, which also was made in house, earthy and nutty. They did everything according to my specifications, e.g. no tomato or lettuce and with sprouts. I got a whole one, though I love they also sell half sandwiches--the prices are a bit up there, but worth it for the quality of ingredients and execution. Parking can be tough, but sometimes you can be treated to a sight such as we ran into three horses outside the deli lol :-) No joke. They have potato chips and a ton of drinks plus cookies to supplement your sandwich!

Half Chef Salad with House Vinaigrette - Yum!

Advice from a local: Pay a visit to Anna and the crew at San Benito Deli! The yummiest fresh sandwiches, salads, and soups, delicious house-baked bread (Olive Walnut is our family fave). I go all the time for the Soup of the Day, the Half Chef's Salad, the Egg and Avocado sandwich, and the fruit salad in the case. Big line? No problem! Order ahead (online or by phone) and skip the line. If you do go in-person and want to seem like you are a regular, order sandwiches and salads in the line on the right, then line up on the left to pay at the cash register (or order soup).

They never disappoint. A fresh sandwich with quality ingredients. A must try when in HMB. The portion is HUGE you'll be full with just a half TRUST ME. Take it to the beach or enjoy it there under the sun. Also the ladies there are friendly and make coming back here enjoyable!

    POTATO SALAD

We went back to Garden Deli Cafe on 4th of July. We didn't realize there was gong to be a parade but it was still something we wanted to eat. We thought our timing was good but we got to the deli right when the parade got out. The line was starting to get a little long, but it progressed quickly. My friends and I ordered 3 sandwiches, shared a potato salad and chips. Everything was amazing! I ordered a hot pastrami sandwich no pickles, my friend ordered a roast beef sandwich and my other friend ordered a salami and turkey sandwich. We shared the potato salad and we swear whoever came up with this potato salad recipe tailored it to compliment each sandwich. Definitely have to go back and try other menu items.

Quick, healthy sandwiches with great outdoor seating! It is grab and go only, but the setup is perfect right in the heart of downtown Half Moon Bay, which is so cute and walkable. There is plenty of street parking and many adorable shops nearby to explore. I loved the olive walnut bread, which was so moist and fresh and paired perfectly with all the ingredients. I highly recommend this spot for a quick and delicious sandwich!

Good quality but simple sandwiches, I would come back here. We just got turkey and cheddar on french bread. Would be good if they had oil and vinegar etc but still great food. Service was fast and friendly. Outdoor seating only but a very nice patio.

This place definitely lives up to the high expectations! Very clean inside, placed our order grabbed some chips, drinks, by the time we paid our sandwich was done! I appreciated the fast and friendly service. There is a large patio area to sit down and enjoy your food. We got a full ham & swiss on rye, macaroni salad, chips, and, it was plenty to share. Everything was so fresh the bread was delicious! It's no wonder why this place is a favorite in HMB.

We were in HMB to visit the beach and needed to pick up a quick lunch on the way. I remembered visiting a deli in HMB for a Yelp event years back, so after a quick search on Yelp, I came across Garden Deli Cafe. The pictures featured the same square pizza pies that were at the Yelp event, so I was convinced it was the same spot, but noticed that pizzas were nowhere on their menu. Long story short, it was the same deli, but different location and no more pizzas! Regardless, we ordered two excellently prepared sandwiches and a chocolate creme pie to go. The sandwich was good, but the freshness of the ingredients and taste of homemade bread made it stand out among the rest. There was enough for leftovers, and the second half of the sandwich stayed sturdy until I was able to get to it the next day. Highly recommend this spot for a quick and healthy-ish lunch!

Roast Beef on Olive Walnut Bread and Pastrami on French Roll

We stopped at this deli on our way up the coast to grab a sandwich.  I ordered roast beef on olive walnut bread and added alfalfa sprouts.  My husband ordered pastrami on a French roll.  Both of the sandwiches were really good!  If I lived in the area, I'm sure I'd visit often to try everything on their menu!

I think about their olive walnut bread often. It is spongy and satisfying. You got to pre- order. It's huge. I freeze it. People working there are super nice. We got the pastrami sandwich, pastrami must be home cooked from scratch. Perfect on an olive walnut bread. Enjoyed their outdoor eating area. We got there early and got the whole place to ourselves. We were surrounded by some pretty flowers and very cute wooden tables and chairs and wooden sculptures of parrots. Who was the artist?

10/10 would recommend this place! This was my first time, and the pastrami sandwich was immaculate -- the pie topped it all off. Service was great super friendly and fast. I can't wait to go back!!

Bottom is the pastrami on rye (best one!)
Top is the roast beef on olive-walnut.

We didn't expect much in this area because we were coming from the somewhat industrial looking side, but decided we wanted to look for a brewery. We googled and ended up trying this place out. Because of the weather, we didn't think there would be anyone else in here and didn't have super high hopes. We were so wrong! When we entered, there was a duo playing live music. They were enjoyable to listen to. There were also quite a few people in there of all ages and seemingly, different walks of life--always a fun thing to see. I ordered a flight and every beer on it was nice and crispy cold--the only way to enjoy beer in my opinion. And the flavors of every one were so impressive. We both love beer and are very impartial to our own local breweries in the town we live in--but coming here made me wish this was in our town! My husband ordered a pint of Sea Wolf and he really enjoyed that. I had the Love Boat on my flight which sounded intriguing to me. It was SO GOOD. It was an ill Ali eery and graham cracker sour. I'm not always a sour lover, but it was the perfect balance. I would say that and the Sea Wolf were my favorites. The gal working, Lauren, was incredibly sweet. We asked for some local suggestions of places she liked for food, drinks, etc. and she was really helpful--gave us lots of great insight. She also chatted with us about her dog and ours...overall just really cool vibes. This will definitely be a go-to spot on all our future visits to the HMB area!

Curious about what the new/old place is like, our three-person family went there for a late breakfast today. Walking up to the front doors, the original inset stained glass remains. Walking in, the cool wood paneling and nautical decor remains in place with a couple of new touches. The fully appointed bar also remains, now with a more streamlined look with subtle lighting changes. We were greeted pleasantly and seated inside the dining room immediately; it was moderately busy and buzzing, not too loud. Our server was quick to our table, menu-knowledgeable and consistent in his attention to us. We had a Denver omelette, a couple of bennies and lemon ricotta pancakes to share. My omelette had particularly fresh and al fresca peppers and onions - wonderful. The lemon ricotta pancakes were sufficiently saturated and fluffy(hard to pull off)and came with fresh cream. The prices were at about the same level as the local competition, which pleasantly surprised us. It appears that the folks who did this breakfast/lunch reboot were shrewd in pricing their dishes. Jetty Wave, a drinks and appetizers adventure(which I heartily recommend as well for different reasons)in the northwestern part of Princeton, is not for the fiscally faint hearted. The only element that makes our experience short of a 5 is that we were not given a farewell when we left, though I was able to find our friendly server and thanked him. In all, the Joanne's legacy is intact - the old carved wood Ketch Joanne sign still hangs inside - literally and figuratively a homage to its legacy while bringing a new energy to this space. Recommended.

We stopped by for lunch on a crisp day, and it completely captured that perfect coastal vibe--think fresh seafood, laid-back atmosphere, and killer views of the boats and water. We started with the calamari, which was hands-down some of the best I've ever had: tender, not rubbery at all, perfectly seasoned and fried, melting in your mouth. The New England-style clam chowder was rich, creamy, with just the right subtle smokiness and balanced seasoning--definitely lives up to Half Moon Bay's chowder reputation. For mains, the Dungeness crab sandwich was the star: generous lumps of sweet local crab, minimal sauce (just how I like it), on toasted sourdough with fries on the side. My partner went with the fish and chips, and the cod was crispy, flaky, and not greasy at all--classic done right. The outdoor patio with fire pits was cozy even in cooler weather, and our server was super friendly, attentive, and full of local recommendations. The place feels welcoming, whether you're a regular from the Coastside or just passing through after a beach walk or harbor stroll. Prices are fair for the fresh, quality ingredients and location--definitely worth it. We've already added it to our list for the next trip to Half Moon Bay. Highly recommend if you're craving solid seafood in a charming harborside setting! 5/5 stars.

There was a warmth in the room that you could feel right away. At one point, they all stopped to sing happy birthday to one of their staff members. Instead of feeling like we were watching someone else's moment, we somehow felt included in it. They even shared a slice of cake with us. My husband started speaking Kurdish with them. He speaks Sorani and they spoke Kurmanji, so they communicated however they could, in Kurdish, in English, and with lots of smiles and laughter in between. Watching him connect with people who made him feel at home was really special. Then came the tea and kunafa, which were absolutely incredible. We hugged them, took a photo together, and by the end of the night, it felt like we'd known them for years when we'd only just met. I left feeling warm and loved. My husband left feeling nostalgic.
